Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

I go here for lunch often.. The grinders are awesome (and huge, I always split one with a coworker). One of the most reasonably priced restaurants downtown. Seriously, try the chicken salad grinder. It has cranberries and pecans and it's the most delicious with melted cheese when it's fresh out of their awesome toaster oven. The tuna grinder is nothing to sneeze at either! If you are there early enough definitely get a cup of homemade soup, I'm in love with the Loaded Baked Potato but plenty of their soups are great, and most sell out quickly during the busy lunch hour. Lots of friends of mine crave this pizza. It's pretty greasy (but that makes it more delicious, right?). Only one size, which is a little bigger than a personal. Definitely worth a taste if you aren't in the mood for a grinder! No table service; you place your order at the counter and they give you a number that they call over a loudspeaker, so it's not the most intimate dining experience I've ever had. But... There's a cool train that runs on a track along the ceiling. All the kids seem to really love it.

Cheese Steak was very good. Sandwich is big enough for two! Chicken Parmesan was fair. Again, grinders are big enough for two.

Second-best pizza in Scranton! They have been around since 1972, for good reason. Perfect size for one or to share between two. Good pricing. Quick and friendly service. Cool decor inside! A bit greasy, though. Get the napkins! They also have very good French fries.

I've never actually been here, but I have had their food a few times. My mom works by it and brought me home the pizza, it's hit and miss at best. It's a chewy crust with OK sauce and actually very good cheese. The subs are good I guess, but nothing to go into great detail about. The pizza is VERY greasy and you almost have to dab it off with a napkin to make it edible. Some decent cheap pizza though, certainly. Maybe I'm just spoiled growing up in by Sabitinis and Pizza Loven and everywhere in Old Forge, but al in all, it's just OK.

Pizza is small, but delicious. if your near it i would recommend going too it.They have more than just pizza, they have subs, sandwiches, soup, and much more.

I've only had their pizza over the years. I liked it when we were kids and hadn't yet explored much options of what pizza was really about. Now, I feel its highly over rated for its price/taste. Someone would have to really twist my arm to get pizza from here again.

Very friendly staff, And that tuna grinder is as good as it gets!

Meatballs were undercooked but waffle fries were amazing. Food was really greasy and turned my stomach .

Hot wing grinder was amazing and my family likes the pastrami grinder. Great prices, friendly service AND CLEAN!

Had the Pappas Special with a side of waffle fries. Fries weren't very crisp and the pizza was pretty average.

It's all about the TUNA GRINDER. It used to be better, but about a year or so ago they must have changed the recipe, but it is still the best in the city. The pizza is unique and and great. The staff is friendly and courteous. However did I mention that they have a great tuna grinder. Go there order the tuna and thank me later.

The bread they use for the grinders is awful. It's dry and stale every time. It has no chew or crust to it. Reminds of the bread you get at gas station in the cooler already made. Or regular white bread that wasn't sliced yet. I give them 5 stars because they are not known for this item on the menu. I'm not sure who voted them Best Hoagies (Grinders)? They don't tell you who voted, where they voted or when. Crap is king!

  • Aaron S.

Having grown up on this pizza, perhaps I'm a little biased. They do their own version of pizza (pan), ordered by the tray, not pie. Their grinders are not the usual local subs or hoagies. You cannot compare these to any other place around, so they are obviously the best at what they do. You'll see on their menu that their food is cited as the best. I agree. Try it for yourself and you'll see. Grab a tray, a grinder and maybe an appetizer (fries are really good) and enjoy a staple of downtown Scranton.

You definitely have to come here if you're in downtown Scranton where most restaurants closed on Sunday. The décor at this place is still stuck in the last century with running model train above your head. We came here for Pepperoni Grinder which tasted amazing! Personal pie pizza wasn't bad either, a bit greasy. I heard Tuna Grinder is great as well. I guess I need to stop by again when I'm in Scranton next time.

Great Pizza Being from New York I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with Scranton style pizza.Slightly thicker than New York style but not as thick as Chicago style.Loved everything about it,the cheese, the sauce and the crust where all delish!

Old school pizza/ hoagie joint near courthouse square. You order at counter at find a seat until they call your order. I can remember being a kid there waiting to hear our number and subsequently feast on peppers and onions Personal pan pizza served hot fresh and delicious and in styrophome trays with little plastic tables that severed well to chide old imagination. Perfectly Toasted subs aka Grinders easy meal for 2. Cheesesteaks served diced with works is just the right amount of greasy. Yes, the Tuna is also spectacular. Get both and split with a friend!

I think nostalgia is what keeps this place going. I'm a transplant here, so I don't have any fond memories of the place. To be fair, the 3 times that I've been there, I've only had the pizza. So I cannot comment on the other food. The pizza is small, 10" or 12", not sure. It's on the expensive side at $6.99 for such a small pie. I'm not sure if they consider it pan pizza or Sisilian, but their crust is greasy and always burnt, I'm guessing that is part of their "thing" though. The sauce is nothing to write home about, but it's not terrible and the cheese is just your average pizza cheese. We have many, way better, pizza joints in the area.

Classic establishment. I love Pizza by Pappas. I have been coming here for years and fell in love with it since I first had it. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. On cold days, try the soup. It's delicious. The regular tray (or extra cheese) is a must-have, and as far as grinders go, I have literally never had a tuna grinder taste the way it is made here. There is something about it that captures an essence which has become far too rare today. You will not be disappointed.

I don't currently and never have understood the appeal of Pizza by Pappas.

Excellent pizza, cooked in an inch-deep oiled pan, resulting in a somewhat fried dough bottom with delicious burned cheese bits around the edges. A hungry teen could easily eat a whole pie. I have never seen pizza quite like this anywhere. My wife and I particularly like extra cheese and onion as toppings. Kids like plain. Pappas also offers a variety of grinders (hoagies), fries, and dynabites. The hot wing grinder had more kick than my son liked, so it must have been quite hot (he said the flavor was great but to ask for mild spice next time). They used to have an awesome cheese sauce to go with the fries, but something happened with the supplier and the stuff they have now is mediocre at best (the always-friendly staff said they were hoping to fix that). They have ample seating and an efficient system where you place your order/pay up front and they call your number when it's ready. You then drop your tray and trash on the way out. Very kid friendly place...

Its your basic pizzeria. As far as downtown eats go, choices are limited and this is always on the list for me. The pizza is not my favorite in any category. The pies are small, greasy and the taste is as such. But the people of Scranton love it, I do not know why but they do so if it tastes good to you I say eat it. They do offer a variety of choices when you make your way out of the pizza oven. There is an entire list of ways to make french fries more and more self destructing and they even offer the polish delight of pierogies. I have their boneless wings on occasion but can not seem to stray too far from the chicken salad grinder...I am a push over for cranberries though.

Seriously, I order Tuna Hoagies at pretty much anywhere that serves them. And I have to say, PIzza by Pappas has the best Tuna Hoagie I have ever had anywhere. Also, their fries are outstanding. The staff is very, very nice as well. The atmosphere is great with the little train riding around the restaurant. The only knock on this place is if you go during the day, there's a lot of weirdos that hang around. Sometimes they sit down and don't order anything but stare at everyone! Kinda weird, but there's tons of weirdos in downtown scranton! Overall this place gets a 5 out of 5 for food, 5 out of 5 for service and a 2 out of 5 for atmosphere, just cause of the crazies! Definitely go to Pizza by Pappas if you're in the area!

Great takeout. Cheese steak is really good. I can easily eat an entire tiny tray of pizza myself. Love that whatever you order is ready in 10 minutes(most times). Recommended.

If you are looking for something different that Old Forge or NY style pizza. Pappa's is the place. Their pies look small but they are filling. I recommend a pie with pepperoni and bacon. I can't speak much to the rest of their menu, but when I get pizza, I'm not disappointed. It's a bit greasy, but that's all good to me. It's quick to call for a to go order and not a long wait if you order there. I wouldn't get Pappa's all the time, but it's a nice change of pace.

I'll keep this short. I don't like this place. Never did. Pizza is expensive and always burnt to a nice shade of black.

Went here for lunch. There menu is limited so I ordered the twelve piece hot wings. I was assured these would be hot since the wings I got last night at Molly Brannigans were sub par. What I got was a plate of fried wings that were barely seasoned. I ate 4 and threw the rest away.
