am delighted there's a place like in a city in this part of PA. service was friendly. taste of food I had with them's actually so-so but it's fairly being offset by the portions especially if you're famishing late in the evening. had their broiled stuffed flounder with crabmeat and this other grilled flounder meal; they come with eat-all-you-can salad and soup - not bad! really good deal! i'm sure i'll be back when i get the chance again to be in this area.

Cheap eats, but I would never go back here. Even starving at 2am, the food just wasn't acceptable. Everyone makes fun of Waffle House, but at least the food is cooked to order. My breakfast had soggy bacon, the sausage was undercooked and still pink in the middle. How scary is that and the pancakes were so stiff and probably precooked and microwaved to warm them up. At least the water tasted ok. I guess the next time I am hungry in Reading late at night, I will just go to Wawa.

An average but more than acceptable dining experience. My fiancee and I stopped here partly to take advantage of the diner's 24-hour status (it was after nine at night when we dined there). The food was pretty good, service was fast, and the place looked immaculate. A very handy place to eat.

Love West Reading Diner. Some great choices for a vegetarian, especially the veggie burger. Excellent coleslaw. Nice little salad bar, the brownies are great. Most of all , the wait staff is excellent, best group of women! Make this Pittsburgh girl most welcome. The owner is warm and welcoming! Need better talent on open mike night! Just a great old fashion 24hr diner and very clean and comfortable!

My favorite local diner for all-around "diner experience". I happen to love diners... if you're not a diner person, the WR is not going to magically reel you in. But this place has all the elements of a great traditional diner, and they keep it consistent. I've had tastier, more complex meals at another local "family restaurant" - but I have a soft spot for establishments like this, who maintain "diner" integrity and don't try to be something they're not. So back to the food... it consistently meets my expections for comfort-style meals which are really cost effective. Price range is somewhat wide depending on which meal you're ordering. Breakfast can be downright cheap (under $5), although some dinner specials will put you in the $11-12 range before tax and tip. Dinners come with a simple soup-and-salad bar, and portion size is hearty. There are a few gems on the menu. For dinner, Chicken Cordon Blue is outstanding. Uniquely interpreted with boneless chicken breast, ham, and hollandaise sauce. The largest portion I've ever seen... easily 2-3 meals' worth (I love leftovers as much as I love diners)! Atmosphere is totally casual, classic diner. Shiny exterior, jukeboxes in each booth, baked goods on display, and the "Open 24 Hours" status are among the elements that keep me coming back at least once a week.

After a rough night of too many Lord Chesterfilds and other drinks, there was need for "that breakfast." I found it here!! The food is just want you need when you are feeling a little rough around the edges. The best was the fresh baked pastries. I went with the apple danish. They also have jukebox in each booth for you to have your own personal soundtrack with your hangover breakfast.

I'm not sure why this diner has such a low rating! I was very impressed with the food, atmosphere, and the service.. Very good!! Recommend. Cheap and tasty :)

I've been here a couple of times, mostly for breakfast or for a really late dinner because they are open 24/7. I enjoy coming here every once in awhile but it's not somewhere I'd go all the time. The servers are nice but they are always in kinda a rush. The food is good but nothing spectacular. Just a basic little diner.

Was good and best of all inexpensive. Had a sandwich and drink for under 10.00!

Horrible service, unprofessional staff, waitress informed us that she was just released from prison for prostitution! We witnessed the owner remove an ethnic couple because, "this is a private business and I can discriminate" needless to say we will never return.

To be frankly honest, I've never been disappointed coming to this diner. Its clean, the servers are friendly and their coffee is better than the mud you get at other diners. I was there last weekend and got the Belgian waffles. They were hot, fluffy and had a vanilla-y taste. Served with three containers of syrup and a cup of butter. Perfect! Like other Yelpers, I just wish they had more to offer instead scrambled eggs prepared 20 different ways..

I grew up in West Reading and I used to love the dinner. The only reason this gets 2 stars is that the food is still good. The service how ever was awful. My girlfriend and I went around 11pm. Our waitress seemed very rushed and jumpy. Our plates hadn't been on the table a full 30 seconds and our server brought us our check. She didn't ask for deserts, if we wanted any thing else, she just brought the check right over. Then she was talking about spirits and some pretty weird stuff. Management, you might want to drug test your employees

Why is it when you order an omelet at a diner, it so often comes out looking like it was a frozen entree heated up in a microwave? Sometimes it comes out shaped like a giant rectangle, as if someone took the plastic microwave-safe tray, turned it upside-down, and smacked it until it slid out and landed with a *thud* on the plate. Now not all diners serve up food like that. In fact, most diners have mastered the art of breakfast, which is why many of us venture out in the early (or late - depending on how much you've had to drink) hours to feast on eggs, bacon, chipped beef, toast, and the like at local diners across the nation. If not for the poor quality of the food, this diner really does nail the "retro" feel of throw-back Americana - you've got the retro color palette, the 60's style glassy architecture, and the big, puffy-cushioned booth seats. It's just a shame the food and service aren't quite up to the same standard.

I haven't been here in about 2 yrs, because the last time ants, Flys and roaches called this place home. So during arts in the streets festival I thought I'd give it another chance. Was I wrong! I should have kept walking. My girlfriend ordered western omelet, home fries, bacon...me Louisiana panini, and our son over medium eggs hash browns and bacon. None of us came near finishing our food. The flavor or should I say lack there of, was enough to push the plates away. The waitress picked up a piece of bacon that fell onto her serving tray, with her fingers, and put it on my girlfriends plate. Eww! The home fries turned out to be hashbrowns, sent that back. Gahh!! How is this place still in business? Does nobody have tastebuds??? Clean the sticky menus and the window sills too please!

Great authentic Pennsylvania diner. I love that 50's look. However, it was nice to see that the interior was period looking but clean and up to date. Staff were warm and friendly and were attentive. Food was typical diner fare with the addition of some great belly busting specials including steak and eggs. I opted for a more local choice of egg sandwich with pork roll and a side of Scrapple. Deelish!

I am giving it 5 stars compared to other diners and what you get for the price. Good food, nice servers, and quick service. I really enjoyed it and always stop here during PSSA testing at the RACC.

This is a place you want to like. It looks classic. It's clean. You want basic food to be great or have a novel twist. This is not that place. Gruff hostess seats you by the bathroom. Your waitress grunts at you then argues with someone who appears to be the cook. Then she criticizes him to another waitress, while they hover next to your table. Coffee is good. Greek omelet more like scrambled eggs with Greek things. Bill slapped down. Here ya go, get me outta here!

I had to meet a coworker for an appointment. We chose this little diner in Reading. What a filthy, disgusting, foul, awful, crappy, dirty little shithole. This was the worst breakfast ever. I actually was able to find a place on the planet that can ruin eggs. Blech!

I've eaten here many a time over the last years of living in the area. The thing about diners (at least this diner) is...order diner food! Breakfast is awesome (all day) - burgers are great. I wouldn't go here expecting a unique experience (service or food) but they are consistent. Will definitely continue to come here and enjoy with friends and family! ps - the dessert is ALWAYS good.

I'm not much of a breakfast person and they were happy to make a burger and fries in the morning. The only down side, they don't really tell you what is extra until you see the bill. I didn't mind paying extra for cheese on my bacon burger but it would have been nice to know it wasn't included. I've been here a few times and will be back!

Visited for lunch while shopping. To call this place mediocre is too high of a compliment. You can delete the single star. Place was clean, service ok. I had a fishman's special sandwich which was horrid. Roll was stale with a small piece of fish that was cut in half to try to make it look bigger over a thrown handful of three day old iceburg lettuce. My companion had a hamburger that was lukewarm and greasy. Coffee tasted like brown water. Not recommended and I will never eat here again.

Been to a number of diners in my day, and this is not one I will be eating at again. Gave it one star due to the service we were given, and it was the bast part of the meal.

This area and greater Philadelphia is diner central. This one blends in well with the sea of other diners in the area. This one is relatively unremarkable compared to the others. It is very retro and looks just like a diner should. One of the nice features I appreciate is that there is outdoor seating which I usually don't see at most diners. Unfortunately, we had to sit inside. It was Saturday morning and the place was pretty busy. We were sat at a pretty poor location two top near the kitchen door. The service was pretty good. Most of the women here looked like they've worked here for 50 years or so. It was prompt if not necessarily that friendly. The menu was pretty large, but I just sticked to the basics. I had an egg "sunny side up". It was a bit overcooked and I also tried the corned beef hash which was okay, but nothing special and the piece de resistance' was the scrapple, which I'm pretty sure is just a central and southern PA thing. It's like sausage except fried and topped with maple syrup. The outside is crusty and the inside is the consistency of oatmeal,,, yes pig parts in the consistency of oatmeal. I'm glad I tried it, but will probably pass next time. This diner is perfectly acceptable, but I'm sure there are better options locally.
