Big fan of Roma Pizzeria. 4.5 stars worth of fan! Minus half a star for NO DELIVERY! However, if I had to drive around this hilly and curvy area, I might not want to deliver either. The store is fantastic, there is a traditional "pizza" area on the main floor and a bar\restaurant upstairs. The pizza area is a big glass counter with lots of pizza pies behind it ready for slices. They also have a dessert counter with some delicious looking cakes\pies. They are also baking their own chocolate chip cookies now which are AMAZING! 2 bucks for a BIG 6" cookie loaded with chocolate chips and chunks. Fantastic after a few slices, I highly recommend you get some to go! The menu is quite robust featuring many of the Pizza standards(Hoagies, Salads, Pasta, Steak Sandwiches) but they also have "specialty Pizzas, specialty salads, and specialty burgers! A nice selection of seafood\poultry and Short Ribs and Filet Mignon! Never had a steak there, but I want to one of these days! Lots of friendly people working here, the folks behind the counter are usually very helpful and friendly. Good experience with the servers too. As with many places in Pottsville, it has plenty of regulars who are all friendly with the staff and each other. I never miss Roma when I'm in Pottsville and I suggest you give it a shot!

Amazing food! Great service! You won't be disappointed. Had the calamari with ginger sauce, Caesar salad, and an incredible small sausage & cheese pizza. All great! You can't tell from the storefront, but inside is all yum.

Excellent food & service every time! There isn't a time that visit Pottsville that I'm not eating 2 or 3 meals at Roma! Cheese steaks, pasta, salads, steaks are can't miss options and the prices are always right.

Best place to eat, drink, hang in Pottsville. The left side is dedicated to quick slices and moms in sweats with 6 kids. The right side has traditional dinner service, with a spacious bar upstairs. The food is phenomenal - salads, pastas, subs. Some of my favorites include: waffle fries, the honey mustard sauce, cheesesteak of any kind, Sicilian pizza, pierogies appetizer and any of the salads. You can eat a quick lunch here, or have a nice dinner. You can also eat healthy, or devour 10 of the delicious dinner rolls like I just did. A favorite.

I grew up in Pottsville and remember the old orange veneer booths in the tiny shop that I would visit with my mom and siblings after our weekly trip to the library. Roma is now a gorgeous restaurant with private banquet room and classic Italian dishes. I still opt for a slice and Guers to go, but love that there's another place for a sit down dinner in the Pottsville area.

First things first, the pizza here is the bomb. If you go here and don't get pizza, you need to reassess your priorities in life. All kinds are good and greasy. You might want to dab off the grease a little, but dough, sauce and cheese are all great. Other foods I've had include the cheesesteak, meatball parm, and salad. The sandwiches are served on a ciabatta type roll which is tasty like the pizza dough. However, it is too much bread to sandwich ratio which takes away from the cheesesteak. The meatballs here are worth trying but again with the bread issue. The salad is one of those deals where they just bury it in shredded mozzarella, and while I love cheese, this is not what a salad should be. One final note about the service, everyone is friendly and generally jovial each time I go here. However, the bar area gets packed and it's all on the bartender. If you want a beer, I'd say sit at a table in the upstairs dining area or get a spot at the bar. The service at the high top tables in the bar area is spotty at best when it's crowded, which it usually is.

You wouldn't know it by the sign outside, but this is the BEST pizza probably in all of PA. At least it is the best pizza in central PA. OMG, I'm drooling just thinking about it. Came here with some classmates after driving out to Pottsville to go to the Yuengling factory tour. We ordered 2 woodfired pizzas (the Burrata & the Di Parma) and a small ROMA SPECIAL (yes, it was in all caps on the menu)...3 fairly huge pies for 4 people. We were stuffed and satisfied after the meal. The ingredients were super fresh, the sauce was perfectly sweet/savory, and service was friendly (albeit a little slowwww). The crust was superb - perfectly crunchy with just the right amount of chew. Just some amazingly good pizza. Whole-heartedly would recommend this place!

This place has grown allot since I last ate at the place. It was great. The staff were helpful and friendly. The menu was large like most Italian places. I settled for the Strawberry and Feta salad which was very tasty. I only ate that since I had a family dinner in a few hours. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

This place hit the spot after hitting the Yuengling Brewery. The Pizza was perfect. The crust was good and held it's weight. We got the margarita pizza with the balsamic glaze and it was pretty darn good! Lots of toppings! We also ordered the Toasted Ravioli which was pretty good too, loved the marinara sauce! The winner here though, was the buffalo chicken Stromboli. This thing was HUGE, at least 16 inches long if not longer! It was awesome too! The crust didn't get soggy under all that buffalo sauce and the buffalo chicken was spicy yet full of flavor! The thing that got me though, was the price. Everything was so reasonably priced and I love that! The only reason this gets knocked a star is because of the service. The waitress was very melancholy and really wasn't attentive and forgot a couple of things. She wasn't very nice and didn't refill our drinks that often either. Overall definitely hit the spot after the brewery but hope next time the service is better.

This place should be showing 5 stars. Phenomenal food, quality, and prices. The quality is some of the highest in Schuylkill County. It's an anchor business for Pottsville's downtown. The business has steadily grown over the years expanding down the block and to upper floors. The downstairs has beautiful relief ceilings. The upstairs has a beautiful view of Market Street and is really spacious. The largest challenge here? Deciding to go with their iconic pizza or one of their signature Italian dishes. Finally, the prices are on point.

A food oasis in the desert of cuisine. This Italian restaurant in downtown Pottsville features a generous menu of Italian pizza joint selections along with traditional pub fare. We ordered cheese steaks and quesadillas, both were delicious and fresh. We came back the next day after our tour of the Yueling brewery and had chicken Parmesan heroes, pizza and pasta. Everything was done well and tasty. The upstairs dining room is decorated nicely and updated. A full bar operates with several TVs surrounding it. They have a good selection of beer on tap as well. Highly recommend this place. Would make it 5 stars if I was comparing it to the rest of Pottsville, but for now I'll keep the overall 4 star rating.

Having family in the area, I consistently hear about how good the pizza/food is. Visited here last weekend and it was a pleasant experience. Service was great and prices were fantastic. The party I was with ordered a few appetizers and a couple of coal-fired pies. Appetizers were tasty and the pizza was enjoyable. The dough/crust lacked any and all flavor, however, the arugula and prosciutto toppings rectified that. Overall, Roma is one of the better Italian restaurants in the area, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting. It's far from "authentic" Italian food; you're in Schuylkill County, not Brooklyn. For the price we paid, I do not have one complaint about the place.

I've been coming here for 3 years while in the area working and have always enjoyed my meals at Roma. Mostly pizzas. Bacon and mushroom this time. We called just before 10, when they were closing. thankfully they hooked us up. Also picked up a 6 pack of Lienengugil Summer Shandy for $11. total bill was $25. I did get carded but I didn't have my ID. BF was prepared. Quick, hot and delicious! The pizza.....not my BF. Although.....

I went to Roma Pizzeria after an amazing visit to the Yeungling Brewery. So you can imagine that I was pretty hungry! =P I entered at the pizza takeout area, so I didn't realize there was a sit down restaurant. I ordered a slice of the philly cheesesteak pizza and it totally hit the spot. My only issue is that I found a small hair in my slice. I had already eaten like 80% of my pizza, so I was already full anyway. If I were in the area again, I'd go back to Roma and probably try the other stuff on the menu. The desserts looked amazing too, so I'll definitely have to save room for that next time!

This place was recommended by the tour guide at the Yuengling Brewery and I'm glad we listened! I got the meat lover's stromboli and not only was it huge, but it was one of the best stromboli's I've ever had! My friends got their pizza and loved it so much they ordered another one to take home with them before we left, so that should tell you how great it is! The seating felt a little crowded but the service was great and the food was amazing. I can't wait to find a reason to visit Yuengling again so I can swing by this place before heading home!

Newly redesigned atmosphere this place has really grew in size. Nice selection of food. Staff members were very pleasant and friendly . No overall complaints. Located downtown Pottsville . My one and only compliant is parking . For as big this restaurant is there is no parking lot designated for this dining establishment. Given on a weekend and after five parking is no where available and is difficult to find one ..

Ok first I love this place and usually have outstanding service, however this was the first time I had been to the pizza counter. Very unorganized today for some reason. I ordered 3 slices and paid for 3, after telling them my order twice, I grabbed my order and left. To my surprise when I got back to work I was missing a slice. Lessen learned check your orders before you leave!!!

Very good Italian restaurant with really large servings, and good prices. On our visit our group had 2 Stromboli's, a wood fired meat lovers pizza, and an Italian Sub. Everything was delicious, and made with quality ingredients. This is a great place to grab a bite to eat before or after taking the Yuengling Brewery Tour. Overall I would stop back again if in the area.

  • Doug C.

I come from San Francisco every year and this is the best place for pizza and Stromboli's I wish we would have something like this in the bay area but I have not found one since I have been coming here for almost 20 years

Probably the best pizza we've ever had. It seriously rivals the brick oven pizza at Bleecker's in NYC. The crust was perfect. When I bit into the pizza, the cheese strung from the pizza to my mouth as far as I would pull it. I got the Margherita pie and hubs got the all meat pie. Both were amazing, but I like the simple goodness of the Margherita. Prices were better than I imagined. We got two full pies and a lunch special of tortellini Alfredo for the littles for $28.05 including tip, we ate all we could and still have 4 slices left and part of the tortellini. Be aware, there are two doors, one for carry out slices amd the other for full service dining. Service was attentive without being too much so. Conviently located just about 4-5 blocks from Yuengling Brewery. Go for the pizza stay for the tour. Free beer at the end!

Love the new look! The pizza here is perfection. They've come a long way since I first started going here. I definitely recommend dining in and sitting at the bar to avoid the noise downstairs.

  • Pete S.

Good Italian food. We had shrimp Alfredo fettuccine, clam linguini with white sauce and manicotti. The shrimp Alfredo was very tasty but the Alfredo sauce was really thick. The clam linguini was really good. The manicotti was also very good. We would have liked spumoni ice cream for dessert but they don't offer it. Bummer. The restaurant was very clean and the service was good. We would return.

This is the best pizza I've found in the whole state of Pennsylvania so far! The rest of their food is pretty good too. The Mrs. And I went last night for dinner for the first time. We've been getting take out for several years now and have never been dissatisfied yet. Their wings are super crisp with your average sauce. The salads are INCREDIBLE !!! The service was great and the prices are reasonable. The only negative was that almost half of the mussels that were served were not open. I don't know how anyone could miss that but they were quick about bringing a new order. No matter we will keep going there for the PIZZA. There is no comparison in this area. I always get a slice or two even if I'm ordering something else. It's not to be missed.

Quick and easy counter service with bottle beer available. They also have a seating area. Friendly staff great place for quick bit

Not so bad, but obviously the real italian food is different . The furniture remind me an Italy of 80's.. So maybe it could be the time to refresh it. The food not bad, I tried A sandwich ( not so tasty) the ham was little bit " heavy" and a pizza. In this case I have to say that the tomato used was quite good and the whole pizza was not bad.

  • James B.

So, I went back. The first time I went I got buffalo chicken pizza which is usually my favorite style and it just wasn't that good here. This time I got just cheese and pepperoni. The pizza was much better.

  • Chris N.

Pizza was good, but we got screwed over big time. Do not go to this place if you plan on having a large group! We reserved space for 30 people, for some reason they heard 40. Even with the "extra" food, we only had a slice of pizza leftover and a few subs. Then at the end, they added another $100 for a tip which they did not deserve. Turns out we were charged for the 40 person group even though we had no where near that amount. They lowered the gratuity after we talked to the manager, we still had to pay for way more than we actually got.

Ok service, massive portions. Good for the area. Had a cheese steak (probably a bad choice) but boy was it greasy and filling. As all people mention, the Yuengling crew tells everyone to go here, not really sure why, other than proximity. Must have some sort of deal with them. Pizza looked good, wish I had tried it. Then again, I'm a NY'er so I believe in good pizza. Just saying.

Still love Roma but the service is -- okay. After eating here recently on a Friday night and experiencing pretty poor service, I am downgrading the rating. Food good. Service not so good. They need to figure out how to handle a crowd. The hostess seemed lost and did not know how to handle the line. We ended up getting seated and then served after people who came in after us.

Great food, location is a little tough for parking. Plenty of free entertainment inside and out.

Been here a few times over the years. Pizza is okay. Sure, it could be considered "best in the county," but thats about it. Their buffalo chicken pizza has tomato sauce in the ingredients! What kind of buffalo chicken is that? All the other kinds I had replaced the tomato sauce with hot sauce, but hey...maybe thats just me. Additionally, there have been at least 2 separate occasions where they completely forgot/loss my order. I can understand it happens, but there was ZERO priority when the order was lost and mine was taken as a regular customer(not one that ordered 30 min ago with hopes of picking it up.) Lastly, the service at the upstairs bar is TERRIBLE. The bartender was rude and not very courteous. At one point, I waited 10 minutes to get another drink while she played with her phone. I will certainly not be returning. Hadn't been a fan years ago, but I feel I gave more than enough chances.

  • Rob S.

Popped over here for a quick lunch prior to the Yuengling tour. There was a line at lunchtime so you know this place is popular. They had some tasty-looking varieties of pizza. I had the buffalo chicken and tomato pesto. Both were tasty though did not have as much flavor as I would have hoped. Very, very thick slices here. Two slices was very filling. And with a small soda was only about $6. Quick, friendly and no-nonsense service.

Grew up in Pottsville, family had a business around the corner from there. We always make it a point to stop and buy a pizza at Romas when going back to visit family. They now have expanded and pretty much bought out the entire block. The upstairs bar is an awesome place to sit have a drink. You can order pizza upstairs and pay with credit card. They have Chesterfield ale on tap, one of the only places you can find it in addition to the typical Yuengling lager. Highly recommend this place and I recommend a Yuengling premium to go with the cheese or pepperoni. Cash only downstairs at the counter. Wells Fargo atm around the corner on Market Street so those from out of town will most likely notice (disclaimer) that Pottsville looks like "a breaking bad place" so please mind your environment. Just an opinion - would love to see the town's resurgence and Roma looks like it is leading the way! Great customer service also. A must visit place.

Great Pizzeria with lots of good sandwiches and awesome service! We came here on a recommendation from the folks at the Yuengling Brewery after the tour. We had 10 people in our group and there was no room downstairs - when the manager saw us trying to cram into some tables, he opened up the upstairs seating and took our drink order himself. The food was awesome and HUGE portions. Most of all, the service and the staff were really great - friendly and responsive, I really recommend trying them if you're in the area.

  • J P.

Probably the best pizza in the area. The Grandma's slice is delicious! I've had a few other varieties and they have all been great. There are lots of "OK" pizza joints around but this one has the best pizza for sure. Only 4 stars because of the ambiance - I have seen some very scary people in the downstairs section.

  • Morgan B.

Roma is home to some of the best (if not the best) pizza in the area. They also have great sandwiches (I recommend the filet mignon sandwich) and dinners. But their service and staff, while friendly, pay little attention to customers. Our most recent meal was served to us all at once. They came by with salad and bread, then within literally 3 minutes, they brought us our food. Not cool. But the food is great, so Roma is a must-stop if you're in the area!

  • Bill S.

Food was wonderful and service was decent. I will certainly be back to try something new. You must try the tomatoes and mozzarella dish as an appetizer. We had a large roma special pizza and it was delicious. The upstairs is nicer than down for sure but the downstairs area has an old pizza parlor feel to it. Don't miss this place.

  • Jessica J.

Four stars out of five due to atmosphere...it's very casual but nice. The food is generous and yummy! I had a slice of pepperoni ($1.95) and a tossed salad ($3.55). The pepperoni pizza was NY style thin crust but delicious. The salad was big and had lots of shredded mozzarella on top. My fiancées sister had the small Stromboli...it was HUGE! Crusty and filled with pepperoni cheesy yummyness. Yuengling and other beers on tap. Great place, check it out!!!!

I've been going to the Roma since it opened as a little Pizza shop some time in the 1970's I believe. It always had great pizza, I've eaten enough of them. But since moving away and coming home only every other month I have visited it less and less. It was nice to discover though that they expanded and have made a once small pizza shop with a limited menu into one of the areas better restaurants for not only the light pizza fare but also many Italian dishes and sandwhiches. They also expanded their seating areas and even included an upstairs dining room. Their Pizza is still high quality as it always has been and their food matches the quality of their pizza. It goes to show. If the will to grow is their the way to grow will follow if you keep yhe quality you started with. The Roma Pizzeria has done it. The atmosphere and cordialness of the waitstaff is and always has been wonderful. One of my favorite place to eat when I return to the Pottsville area.

  • Kevin Z.

We were told that it was the best pizza in the county and if that's the case then I don't want to try anything else in the county. Service was terrible, tables were dirty, and most importantly the pizza was well below what was expected or hyped.

I love Roma Pizza.....it's busy, but the staff keeps up with the customers. Very reasonable prices and great pizza. The best of Schuylkill County....

After checking out the Yuengling Brewery, my friend and I were ready for lunch. We asked a couple locals where we should go, and they both suggested Roma. And let me tell you, whatever the place lacks in atmosphere and decore, it makes up for with good food and friendly service. I had wonderful spinach ravioli, and my friend had a GIGANITIC stromboli that could have fed 2-3 people. I was a little disappointed that they didn't offer all the Yuengling brews. I mean, they're only a couple blocks from the brewery. What's up with that?! I really wanted to try the Black & Tan!

Best Italian restaurant Schuylkill County hands down. Huge portions for the price and the service is good. If you have family coming in from out of town and you want to take them to a good place to eat, I would definitely recommend Roma pizza.

  • Scott G.

Best Pizza. Anywhere. I've been up and down the east coast and out to LA. I haven't had better pizza yet. Maybe it's just because I grew up on this stuff, but the quality (of pizza) here far exceeds any other restaurant that I've been to. Decor/Service snobs, keep your distance. Then again, I doubt anyone like that would be in Pottsville to begin with.

Fabulous pizza. Try the buffalo chicken pizza, or the white pizza with broccoli. Dinner specials are also a treat. Favorites are the Fettuccini with Shrimp, Seafood Fra Diablo with linguini and the penne with meatballs. TERRIFIC

Wasn't very impressed. We stopped in for lunch and the slices looked very appetizing. Since we had more than an hour we decided to sit in the dining room. The dining room smelled a bit funny. Nothing to make me leave. The waitress was very polite and friendly, and was quick enough. We ordered a cheesesteak pizza and I ordered a slice of Sicilian. The Sicilian wasn't bad, but it was also nothing special. The pizza wasn't what we expected, but it wasn't a bad thing. We expected a pizza with cheese and steak on it. Instead we got a pizza that had a crust on top of it. It's our fault for not checking out each of the slices to see what each looked like. The problem with the crust on top is it's too much extra and a slice feels like it weighs about 3 pounds. Three guys should easily be able to knock out an entire pizza. We could only eat half of it. The taste of it wasn't bad, but like the Sicilian it wasn't impressive. I think it's a safe bet to not get something terrible, but it also doesn't deem like you're going to get much above average.

This review is long overdue! In December - we visited the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville. (Yuengling by the way is an awesome beer that is sadly not available west of Alabama.) We were starving after the 3-hour drive from Jersey and the brewery tour, so someone in the gift shop recommended Roma as a local favorite. It was AWESOME! My husband, sister, and I have about 50 years of combined pizza eating experience across the US and this is the best that any of us have ever tasted. The doughy crust, cheese and flavorful sauce were deliciously perfect, and the food was incredibly well priced. I'd be there all the time if it wasn't in the middle of Pennsylvania!!!
