I'm so happy Sly Fox opened their new brewery and tasting room in Potttown. It's totally awesome!! They have a great selection of beer and it's a hip place to hang out. Their pizzas are very tasty - and go quite well with the brew. They have 20 or so beers on tap - it's tough to make a decision. Try the sampler - six five ounce glasses of your favorite beers. They have brewery tours on Saturdays (haven't done that yet...but will soon). Growler refills are $6 on Thursdays. You can't beat that! I'm happy to be able to spend my hard-earned bucks at a local business.

Love. The out door space is amazing during great weather. All of their food excellent, the pizza and baked wings are ab absolute favorite. I'm partial about the beer because I'm a Victory Brewing Girl. But absolutely love coming here. Great atmosphere.

Beers are always good at this location just like their Phoenixville spot. No complaints on food and the atmosphere is good. This place is definitely worth the stop but be prepared to wait if you're not a regular. Bartenders aren't the friendliest to those that they don't know and are in no hurry to stop talking with each other or friends to serve thirsty patrons a beer. Overall, great place for a food and a beer, but don't come looking for good service or friendly bartenders. (Everyone has bad days, but this review is based on 3 visits)

Great beer selection and the pizza is exceptional!

Great place for a date night or to meet up with some old friends. The brewery is clean and has rustic wood tables which create a welcoming environment. The beer is great. ..and so is the taco pizza. I recommend ordering the sampler so you can try six different beers and discover your favorite. At only eight dollars it is a great way to explore the different tastes.

Awesome beers and food! If you are in the area this is a must. I tried the beer sampler. You are allowed to choose 6 of anything they have on tap and it is served on a conveniently labeled pizza tray. The made to order taco pizza was delicious and the pulled pork sliders were amazing!

Sly fox has great beer and food. There are many breweries near the bike trail so we have stopped occasionally. Picnic tables are awesome. We were running a tab and the female server made me get back in line to order more beer. She definitely needs some training. Never have I been treated like this. We closed the tab and biked to another favorite. Sly fox not willing to serve their customers. She needs training.

Nifty brew selection with an equally appealing Tastin' Room ! We pulled in about 4;15 on a Saturday and the place was almost completely full. Large selection of brews (some seasonal) to sample. My wife recommends the Helles, while I found enjoyment with the Rt 113 IPA. Did not take the tour - that's on the list for next time ! Menu is limited to wings, pizza, and $1 tacos, all of which compliment the atmosphere to the hilt. Entire place was very clean, including the outside entryway and parking lot. Definitely worth a visit !

Great place literally a one-minute car ride from my house which is awesome. I love their large selection (18-20) of their fresh beers on tap, with the Oktoberfest Lager being my favorite right now. They have a small but really nice menu and the pulled pork and brisket sliders were smoked in house and delicious. The squeeze bottles of various house made BBQ sauces is a nice touch. Their pizzas ROCK! I had a bacon/caramelized onion/blue cheese pizza that was one of the best pizzas I've even eaten. The place is nice with beautiful maple wood benches and a low key laid back atmosphere. You can buy growlers of beer as well as cases of their signature cans and the larger specialty bottles. It's a little tucked away back in the Circle of Progress, but come on down to the Sly Fox Tastin' Room and you won't be disappointed!

Went here for the brew tour yesterday after having not gone on one in quite some time. It was pretty great! The tour guide was very informative and generally a pleasure. Got some great insight as to why Sly Fox brews in cans instead of bottles and they had quite a few delicious beers on tap. Only thing I was really disappointed in was that I couldn't take the Peppercorn Trippel home in a growler. Though the Saison Vos that I did end up getting was still amazing. The Tasting Room area is rather basic. A rather small bar, but a ton of different drafts. The seating area is interesting, it's a seat yourself. But they just have 6-8 very large tables with benches. Got a window so you can see into the brewery and a few tv's for sports, of course. Sly Fox is already a great beer and the Tasting Room definitely only adds to the experience. I definitely recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area.

This is one of the worst brew pubs in the tri state area...clueless owner and terrible beer...the only people who like this place is the locals who don't get out of pottstown...

I gotta say, it's about time! Seriously, I love Sly Fox. I love everything about what they do. Who they are. Their brand. And at this new spot, reflects all those elements. This is a taproom in its entirety. I figure, hey, they already have a restaurant. This is about the beer people! The production! I got the tour and its amazing. Very fancy shmancy. I almost expected Oompa Loompas breaking out into songs about the canning process. It's very impressive and I can;t wait to see the production that comes out of this place. Now, I didn't eat here yet, so expect a follow up on that front, but as far as the spot itself, I dig it. Can't wait for KanJam!

Got the chance to stop in here this past friday for Happy Hour. What a nice time. The place is pretty basic with a nice bar some picnic tables which are made of some pretty cool wood and a few T.V.s. The staff was very friendly and service was great. I was enjoying the Oktoberfest beer and awesome pizza. While there they brought out a firkin of the Brewers Select Pale Ale and laid it behind the bar and tapped that sucker! Pleasent suprise and I had to have a pint of that too! Tastey! Can't wait to go back. The Happy Hour prices are great $3 to $3.50 a pint! All beers 16oz or larger are $1.50 off.Hope that dosen't change. Between my wife and I we had 5 beers and a pizza for 25 bux! And we're talkin' great beer ,not swill! highly recommended.

All I can say is Wow! I was a little put off at first because it was a bit slow and the staff let me and my wife wander around having no idea what to do to order (see other reviews for the run down), but once we figured it out, it was truly awesome. Don't come expecting a full restaurant. This place is brewery first and foremost, but the food isn't an afterthought. The pizzas and sliders were delicious and the perfect complement for sampling the large number of taps. I can't wait to go back!

Awesome beer...especially the Irish Red, and the fresh pizzas are delicious.

Great beer (bring back the Nihilst Imperial Stoudt!!).. Great pizza (I am actually much closer to the Kimberton location but prefer Pottstown because of the pizza). Casual. Wish they had an extra tv or two during game time.

We are so happy that Sly Fox is finally open in Pottstown. We had excellent service from Craig and Nick at the bar. We tried the food and enjoyed everything we had. The half chicken was flavorful and moist. The homemade BBQ sauces are fantastic. We tried the St. Louis and the mustard sauces. We wanted to steal them and take them with us. The pizza was fresh made to order. The crust was delicious! I loved the pizza. The maple tables are handmade in Pennsylvania. They are gorgeous. We will definitely be back!

It's for beer-lovers. The menu has about 20 different brews at any given time, and some simple food to accompany that brew: freshly cooked pizzas, pulled pork sliders, some salads, and that's about it. If you're nearby and you love beer, I recommend coming by and tasting a flight or two to figure out what you like, then take some home. Sly Fox is a great brewery, and a wonderful (if strangely located) addition to the neighborhood.

Stopped in last night on a whim. The Whitehouse Wit and the Black Raspberry Reserve were both fantastic. A bottle of Black Raspberry Reserve found its way in my car for additional enjoyment back home. The jerks wings were fantastic. Slightly charred from the oven and a great underlying smoky flavor. We also tried the sausage and pepper pizza, featuring sausage from local sausage purveyor Freeland Market. It did not disappoint. Overall a great experience. We will be back!

  • Matt S.

Beer is great. They are always trying new brews and few disappoint. The sitting area is super casual, so don't look for the traditional booth type dining experience. However, the staff is above excellent and they take care of you. Ask for Esther! 2 trips and they know your name. It is that kind of place. On top of that, take one of the regular tours through the brewery and get a taste of up and coming flavors. The food is a smart, tight menu of what they do well. Pizza is phenomenal, sliders are great and nachos always work. I've even done the salad items when Im faking health consciousness. There are also constant events, like bike races, goat races, beer club events for trips to ireland, etc. Give it a look, you will enjoy it.

I've been a fan of Sly Fox's beer since I was of age ;) To me, their beer is tasty and no fuss. Finally, we made it to the Bock Fest & Goat Race this year, after always hearing about it, but missing it. We trekked out to Pottstown and arrived by 11:30am. We were able to park in the field at the airport and walk over. Parking was filling up quickly. This was our first trip to the brewery and to the Goat Race. The night before, we perused the list of competitors and rooted for our favorite goats. The three stars come from the lack of food options. The Cow & the Curd food truck was there which was nice. Pizzas from the restaurant were available, but I wasn't up for it. The other options were beerwurst, Philly soft pretzels, schnitzel - all of which seemed to be sitting. If you're a vegetarian I guess you would have been pretty hungry. I'm not, so I had a beerwurst. I am a big fan of German food, but the quality just wasn't there. In the future, some sides would be good and water more readily available. Maybe some nice Bavarian-style pretzels vs Philly soft pretzels. Beer was $5, delicious, and another $5 if you wanted it in a commemorative mug (which we did, since goats are cute and Sly Fox beer is good). If you go, it's a good idea to get there early with your group. Be sure to bring a tent and some chairs, the goat race doesn't start until the afternoon!

Sly Fox isn't a bad brewery, they are trying to do some inventive things. I think with time... or something... this could be a really great brewery. They have a couple of good beers that are packaged and sold around the area. The helles and the lager and both good, but not something that I would look for. At the tasting room, I tried the Hefeweizen Doppelbock, the Ichor, and something else that tasted almost exactly the same and the Ichor. The hefeweizen was my favorite, I tasted a good amount of banana. The Ichor was a bit watery, I was expecting more flavor. Counter service and picnic tables for food. The food wasn't bad, but sort of an afterthought.

  • Marie L.

Had a great experience here. The beer was decent, the food was good, and the service was really helpful. I don't love that you have to order from the bar, but that's becoming so common in brewpubs that I'm trying to adjust~!

Both times that I've been to Pottstown I've made it down to the sly fox. This is a modern upscale tasting room with brewery tours and about 15 beers on tap. I sat at the bar and ordered a flight from the bartender who helped me pick his favorite beers. Everything I inquired about other beers they had available he quickly gave me a taster and told me all about the brewing process. I ordered the honey siracha wings and they were really the only disappointing thing about my visit. While they were delicious and spicy, they might as well been called siracha wings. Mine had zero discernable honey flavor to speak of so I was left unsatisfied and with flaming lips. My previous visit I took the tour and had one of their pizzas which was great. Overall this is one of the best places to grab a drink in the Pottstown area. Its a fine establishment with a selection that any beer drinker would enjoy. It's definitely some place I'll come back to if I'm in Pottstown again.

On a recent trip up north and a tour of 12 breweries, this was my last brewery to check out. The brewery sits in an industrial park adjacent to the Pottstown airport. The space reminded me of breweries I was used to in NC. Outside there were a few picnic tables. Inside there was a bar along the opposite wall and picnic tables of various forms to the left. They also had a small kitchen to the right. There is a large beer menu and many options that looked appealing so I sat myself at the bar and ordered a flight which included beers of my choice. I can't say I was really impressed with anything they had on tap. The IPA's were decent but nothing really stood out to me but at this point in my trip, I think I was a bit beered out. They had a few beers in can/bomber form that were not on tap that looked interesting so I took a chance and took them home to NC. Thankfully, the beers I took home, the Black Raspberry Reserve and the 360 IPA made this trip worthwhile. The Black Raspberry Reserve is fruity but not sweet and the 360 IPA came in an interesting can...the entire lid came off for easy drinking. And this IPA was quite good out of the can! I will definitely come back for these two beers. Hopefully I won't be as beered out on the next trip.

Awesome beer. Great people and good food, what else do you need? Try the pizza! Great atmosphere, you can fit inside and see the brewery or sit outside in a nice day. If you're going to sit outside, bring your dog too.

This place is fun!! We got here early, sat around and had a few drinks and some food, which was surprisingly good. Our tour began a little late but there were only 3 people. Our tour guides name was Matt a d he was fantastic, patient and filled with knowledge and answers. We had a fantastic time and plan on coming back here again. The atmosphere is super laid back and friendly!! Definitely worth a visit.

Cool place tucked away behind the airport. Good pizza. Good rotating selection of fresh beer. Fun atmosphere with people sitting in grass on blankets with friends and family. Pairs well with mana tawny still company across the street.

Went here with a living social voucher for a tour and t-shirt. After you get passed the industrial park location it is a cool tasting room with a simplistic design but with plenty of character. i didn't get anything to eat but the food looked solid. we were greeted with a free beer to take on our tour. the tour was a solid brewery tour with the nicest and cleanest brewing facility i've ever seen. i probably wouldn't make the 1 hour drive it took me to get here to grab a beer but if I was in the area I'd definitely seek the place out.

I went to the tasting room on July 4th weekend specifically to get a tour and try some more Sly Fox beers that I hadn't drank before. The food was pretty normal pub fare-- wings, fries, pizzas. I wasn't hungry, so I can't really comment any further than the tiny bites I took (1 wing, for instance). On the other hand, I love Sly Fox beer, especially because of their emphasis on canned brews. So much easier to clean up and recycle--and to keep from getting skunked. I especially love their Helles lager and the Pikeland Pils, but the 360 IPA is a good and strong brew if you're a hophead. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the tour, which was casual to the point of being boring. The rep (whose name was Nick) was drinking on the tour and was even on the verge of being visibly intoxicated, which I found highly unprofessional. Additionally, because the tour was off the cuff, it wasn't very well-thought out and dragged on for too long (a full hour). Beer: 4. Tour: 2. Food: 3. Thus, my rating.

Was here last night (Sunday) and was surprised at how inexpensive the specials were. There were tacos for $1 each (decent), 1/2 priced wings, soup and chili. The atmosphere was interesting. There are long tables so you can fit a bunch of people, but when we went there was a group that had just finished up an ultimate tournament and the place was a SAUNA....like, in terms of humidity. It kind of skeeved me out, but I am hoping that most of that had to do with the athletes. Food was decent, beer was typical Sly Fox beer (personally not a big fan), service was awesome.

    (3)
  • Mr H.

Awesome place. Many craft beers to choose from which will surely fit anyone's preference. Food is pizza, wings, salads, sliders. You order at the bar, and they'll bring the food to you. I look forward to going there probably once a month or so. I'm giving it a 4 because I'm still waiting for them to nail an awesome IPA that's super delicious. Odyssey is just OK. 113 is a malt bomb.

    (4)
  • Mat L.

Thoroughly whelming. At any given time, there might be 3 drinkable beers. The food is expensive for the portion sizes and never well flavored. Or in the case of the barbecue, it's never properly smoked--always too hot and fast. I'd advice missing the events, as it's an excuse to jack up the prices on the already expensive food and largely mediocre beer. On the upside, the employees are nice and don't mind giving out tastes if there's something new on the wall, which there is frequently. And the facility is nice and family friendly. But it's not at all in the ballpark of Iron Hill or Victory. Not even close.

  • Mike F.

This place is a blast! Food is great and though the food choices are a little limited and it's not fancy, prices are excellent and there are lots of beer choices and wine too . Make sure to Bring a growler! Also the tour of the brewery is one of the best I've seen. We'll be back

Free brewery tour, great beer, and $1 tacos, what else can you really ask for? When my friends and I walked in, we were among the only ones as the Saturday we chose to come happened to fall during a snow storm. We asked about the tour, but were told that the next tour wasn't until 2PM. At the time, it was about an hour and a half away, so we started off with some beer samplers and some of the $1 tacos. Most of the beers I tried were pretty good. Porters, IPAs, and Pales were among some of the beers sampled, as well as their flagship beer, Pikeland Pils. Once 2PM hit, we were taken on a tour of the brewery. It turned out that we were the only ones, which was cool because the tour ended up being much more intimate. Sly Fox really seems to be ahead of the curve and is setting the standard for what the craft beer industry should be headed toward, which is canning beer. Their facility is pretty large and I hope that they can expand to as many states as possible. I will end on both a positive and negative note about this brew pub. Positive: They have great specials throughout the week including discounted growler fills and food specials. The tacos were pretty legit and I can only hope the other food is just as good. The only negative that I have with them was how regimented they were with us. When I attempted to order samples for my friends and I, the bartender told me that we were supposed to let them know that we were sitting at a table, so they could know which number table we were at. We thought this was pretty silly, seeing that only us and one other party were sitting at tables. I also felt like they could've given us the tour early given the circumstances of the snow and the fact that barely anyone was here. Just minor annoyances really, but different from some other microbreweries I've visited where the staff has been more laid back. Nix the strict rules, and you've got 5 stars!

Had a nice, but not great lunch. Brisket sliders were ok, but a little dry beef. Order was punched incorrectly, but it was loud and perhaps hard to hear. Nice beer selection, but lunch menu was small, not a lot of variety. A scaled down version of Victory Brewing, but then again, Pottstown doesn't have a lot of choices. Not sure I would go back, unless my companions were seeking a brew. Young business w room to grow!

  • Carolyn L.

I love going here. They have great beers on tap and the people are awesome! Also, did I mention the food is delicious too?! If you are ever in Pottstown, stop by and check out this place!

    (5)
  • Dave S.

Same great beers that you'll find at the Phoenixville location but MUCH better food and even good wine on tap! The made to order pizzas are a must try, as they're baked in their 700 degree oven. I don't know why the Phoenixville spot can't make food as well as Pottstown, or decorate as well as Pottstown, but I'm a big fan of the Tastin' Room!

  • Evangelos R.

Great atmosphere. Beer was great food was fantastic. Downside was the limited tours they have and one of the bartenders, a skinny man with a beard, was horrible. Asked for a menu, didn't get one, asked what he recommend to eat and he told us the Chipotle wings were horrible, his words' we got them and they were great.

  • Joe L.

Great beer. Great. Some of, if not the best PA has to offer. However, this location is a bit disjointed and not quite what I expected. A busy Sunday had a total of three staff members, which led to long wait times on food and beer. Also, they *do not* run scheduled tours, contrary to the web site. I drove down only to be ignored and put off until we packed it in and left. (The guy who gives the tour was gone, then back, then pouring beer, making pizzas, cleaning up, and generally being too busy to give tours or stick to the schedule.) We didn't have the pizza, which other reviews rave about. I thought the food was OK, but overpriced for what you get. Overall good atmosphere and great beer, but probably more of a pop-in for a pint place than for a full on meal. Also, not worth the visit if you're looking for brewery tours, which are always fun no matter how many you've done.

    (1)
  • Jordan P.

Since the brewery tour was free, if you've got the groupon/Living Social deal, all you've really paid for are the shirts (plain, white t-shirts with the Slyfox logo on them). The beers are fairly tasty, though I didn't really try any that blew me away. On the same note, that's how I felt about the tour. If you've been on one tour, you've been on MOST brewery tours. It's tough, because you want something new and exciting happen.... but with very few exceptions, it's not going to happen. You'll see the mash tun, you'll see the fermentation tanks, brew kettles, etc. I will say it was cool to see their canning machine, and, as our guide said, "Cans are just tiny kegs, right?" But, otherwise.... nothing to write home about. We didn't get any foods, just focused on the beer and enjoyed a little flight which was tasty and decently priced. If you're in need of something to do, I'd say check it out, but don't expect too much.

  • Briana S.

This place is really nice. They have amazing pizzas and their nachos were really good! I got the buffalo pizza which was amazing. It had a lot of bleu cheese on it which was better than most pizzas I've had. You just walk in order at the bar and sit down outside or inside. They have different flavored BBQ sauces out too. Would come back here again.

  • Ryan L.

It's pretty darn awesome. Good, fresh food. Great brews. Tour is a little noisy, depending what day you go, but it's great information at a local brewery to learn more about how your beer is made!

Simply put: friendly barkeeps, good, consistent food, great atmosphere on outside patio and great beer. Well worth a visit.

  • Adam P.

I've been here a few times, and have never really been thrilled with the food. It's ok, a little overpriced for what you get. I'll be hard pressed to ever go back. I love the concept, and the atmosphere is ok. The crowd is really good though, and the location is a nice change.

The Tastin' Room is a great casual, friendly, fun place. The staff is always good and ready to answer any questions that you may have. My wife and I go there a lot and everybody else that's there is having a good time also including kids. Beside their beer they have Coca Cola products and wine. Eatin' there is kind of picnic style. There's a place at the bar for you to place your order. Then you grab your napkins, plastic fork, knife, BBQ sauce, etc. and head to the picnic tables inside or outside. We also see lots of people pickin' up take out pizzas. A cool place great pizza, baked beans and oh yea beer. What's not to enjoy. Check out their website for cool events that they have too.

Great food, Great beer and great atmosphere. Wednesdays special is a pint, a growler fill , a pizza and 2 sliders for $20 ! Its pretty much free. Craig the manager is a super cool knowledgeable guy for those that know nothing about beer. I'm usually there once a week.

  • J S.

Stop by here a few times a month and enjoy the beers from Sly Fox. The staff have always been pleasant and attentive. Remember, this is a working brewery with a tasting room. It is NOT a brewpub or restaurant so if you go looking for a sit down meal you will be disappointed. Aside from the bar, seating is beer hall communal style. The tables are self serve and clean up. The food is decent and is meant to accompany the beer. You can't go wrong with their pizzas. Best of all you can get beer to go!

  • Er B.

Oh baby Jesus in the manger, thank you so much for Sly Fox's second (or is it technically third) location. Full disclosure: I'm a Sly Fox fan, no matter what. You can't try to convince me otherwise. I've been a regular at their Phoenixville location for a decade (jeeze, I'm old). SF's Royal Weiss was the "gateway beer" for me into the craft brewing scene and I haven't looked back, but my palate has changed considerably (thank you for the Nihlist!!!). I am happy that they have been able to expand their production even more by expanding to the Pottstown location and the bonus to all of us imbibers is the tasting room. Menu is limited, but what they make is done really well and frequently changes. For the most part, you've got several pizzas to choose from, several different sliders, 2 or 3 salads, and a great bacon mac-n-cheese. They have specials, too (like the chorizo fritters I had over the weekend). Just save yourself the time and walk in with a standing order for the Kielbasa Pizza. They get the kielbasa from a farmer at the Pottstown Farmer's Market and it is approved by my Polish husband. Here's the story on service: order food and beverage at the bar, grab your beer and take your number to your seat. Your food will be delivered to you at the long, beer-hall style tables. Patrons grab their own napkins, plates, and disposable wear. Oh, and improve your karma by cleaning up after yourself. This is a great, very casual joint to begin a guys weekend or to stop off after some trail running in Berks County.

This was a pleasant surprise. The location is off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. The atmosphere is very casual. We were almost ready to leave but am glad we stayed. Pizza and salad was our choice. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The crust was delicious One pizza was plenty for 2 people to share. We had the Greek salad which we shared and it was very good too. Beer is the main attraction. Our beer was okay. It would have been nice to sample a beer before ordering a glass. If you are in the area, definitely go!

    (4)
  • Margaret R.

If you are a wheat beer lover this is your brewery! Tons of different beers to sample and at a reasonable price. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to Philadelphia (although it is close to the outlet mall which is how we found it!) the food is good too! ($1 tacos are basically unbeatable!) a little out of the way but totally worth the drive! I do wish, however, there were more frequent tours of the brewery itself (only at 2 pm and 4 pm on weekends)- we will have to return for the tour!

  • Andrew H.

This place is AWESOME. Come on Tuesday for $6 growlers... the $8 flights are amazing. I still have to try the food. The brewery is state of the art and the staff/owners are wonderful.

We love the Tasting Room! Picnic table setting was very casual but once the food comes ... You forget about everything! We also enjoyed two sampler trays of Sly Fox Beer. A fun afternoon!

  • Andrew K.

The food here was terrible. Me and my friend were the only two in the restaurant eating (this was like 7pm too) and out food took an hour to get. Not to mention the laziest wait staff. I'll never return here. Ever.

Good beers, good pizza. I recommend the Odyssey IPA and the Bacon and Bleu pizza.

Beer-Good; Food-smaller portioned but good taste; Female Bartender- Terrible. Managment may want to tell her how to speak to customers. The hour we spent there, she was rude and arguing with us about our order being messed up, as well as arguing with another customer because he described the glass the wanted to purchase with the wrong beer. She was the rudest bartender I have met in a long time.. Its ashame.
