Finally had a chance to check out the place with the family that has been on my radar for a while. Seemed like a nice family run joint when you go in. We started with the fried mushrooms, which were really nice. Kids got mac & cheese bites, and ziti. Wife got lobster ravioli, and I got the chicken marsala. While everything we had was very good, I overheard an employee tell a patron waiting for takeout that everything was made in-house(and maybe they were only talking about the pizza but that's not how I took it). Now, now...I believe that many of the items on this massive menu could be made by the staff but looking at the table and the dishes, that was a tall tale. The lobster ravioli were very good but they were not homemade. They were the same kind I've gotten at other restaurants that purchase them. The kind with the squid ink stripes like Legal Seafood sells. The mac & cheese bites are also a freezer item, as we've gotten the same things at various other spots. Outside of that, everything was prepared well, and the food was delicious, and the portions were extremely large. They didn't advertise as being a BYOB but I brought a bottle just in case. They were. Service was very nice, friendly, and accommodating for requests. We'll surely be back but I do have a few constructive pointers for this restaurant. Firstly, reduce the size of the menu. Options are nice but certainly not needed. Think more fresh ingredients, higher volume turnover, and less backlog of inventory. I have no doubt that by reducing the menu, and killing off most of the freezer items...and even reducing the portion sizes, they will have a better product that not only they will be proud of but the customers will thank them for. Secondly, I understand the "want" to put in as many seats in the dining room as possible but it's nearing the point of being sardines in a can. If someone had been sitting in the booth behind us, I would not have been able to squeeze into our booth. A little more breathing room makes the dining experience nicer, and the staff easier to maneuver when delivering food. We're looking forward to many more visits in the near future.

This review is based mostly off of the customer service experience I had. My boyfriend and I came here last night for dinner during the local power outage from the storm. Our waitress, a short haired middle aged woman, took our order (a slice of pizza and a veal parm) she walked over to the kitchen and had the slice put in immediately which I found odd considering I know a slice will only take two minutes to reheat while the parm would take considerably longer. As observed my boyfriend got his slice a few minutes later and I was told it'd be just a minute until my sandwich came out. Maybe five minutes go by my boyfriend is half way done eating (why wait if it'll go cold) and I'm told again it'll be a few minutes. By the time my boyfriend is done eating my sandwich comes out and the waitress is unapologetic. A little later my boyfriend starts to tell the waitress that we'll take the check, which she cuts him off with "whenever you're ready" while slapping the check down on the table. I count out our money and leave it on the table. As I'm getting up out of the booth the waitress returns leaning over me in the middle of the booth as I'm clearly trying to get out totally invading my space asking if I need change. Once I am freed from the booth she immediately begins counting the money right in front of us without a word and turns away. So I guess my point here is while I get it's a pizza shop, fast paced, simple and short interactions, get in get out type atmosphere; but A tiny bit of friendliness could of improved this cold and unsatisfactory visit. And invading your customer's space, and counting their tips right in front of you without so much as a simple farewell or "bye" is totally unprofessional and rude. We'll stick to take out I guess. I wouldn't suggest dining in.

Love the food and great staff too! Chicken parm is delicious!!! Bring your appetite though, their portions are enough for 2 and lunch the next day. Pizza and sandwiches are on point too but my fav dishes there are chick parm, stuffed shells, lasagna, actually you can't go wrong with any homemade dish they whip up! They are Always one of my top 3 choices on my list when they question comes up "where do u wanna go to eat"? Try them, you won't be disappointed!

This is my favorite restaurant. I've been coming here for quite some time. I brought my fiancée here and she loves it. I love the rosa sauce and mostly anything on the menu. My fiancée always loves to order the fresh mozzarella wedges, and the chicken parm. Anything you order here you won't go wrong. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. Also, for the price and the size portions its all well worth it. The pizza, meatball sandwiches, and cheesesteaks are also delicious. Half the time we leave we have leftovers for the next night.

Great food. HUGE portions. Excellent prices. Both of us ordered chicken parm. This could have been enough for 3-4 meals.

Great place, friendly staff. One of our favorites to visit when in the area. On occasion will drive the 35 miles for one of their great dishes. Highly recommend.

Super yummy pizza. The pizza topping quality is excellent. Pizza sauce is fabulous, just like my great grandmother's from Italy. White pizza is great as well. Good pasta and sauces for a pizza joint. Rosa sauce is good. They give you a lot of sauce, which I like. Decent sandwiches. Most of the appetizers are from the freezer and not made fresh. Nice service overall. I think they should reduce the menu size to focus on their quality items made with fresh ingredients. My favorite pizza in the area by far. Pizza is 5 stars, but everything else on the menu brings it down to 4 stars for me.

Good- The food is actually really good and portions are large. Bad- they mess up your order about 30% of the time and half the time you arrive to pick up food they forgot to start cooking it.

I don't understand the bad reviews..sounds like some people are just butthurt that they didn't have their asses kissed from the moment they walked in until the time they walked out..but anyways.....i personally love this place, so does my gf, and all of my friends, food is delicious and plentiful..especially the grilled chicken..talk about juicy and that delicious char broiled taste. Pizzas, pasta, cheesesteaks, especially the buffalo chicken cheesesteak are uncanny. But the real winner there (to me at least) are the char-broiled rustico chicken sandwiches. Out of this world! Wait staff could use a little improvement, but nothing to the point to where i have had an unbearable experience. Joey and Vito are both awesome, super cool, super friendly..clean and beautiful on the inside and outside. Well worth the trip for an awesome italian experience. Keep up the great work guys!

Good food, expensive but huge portions! Loved the staff, little tight inside but had no bad experiences what so ever. Would definitely recommend!

It's a halfway point for my mother & I to meet so we've eaten here a few times. Service gets worse every time, I literally had to pull my waitress from sitting at a booth chatting with other coworkers just to get a refill. I had been waiting over 10 minutes. Hoagies and salads are "ok". Won't ever go back tho, not with so many better options around.

Love love love their food! I've always had a great experience here when it comes to the food and the staff! My favorites are the stuffed shells and calzone. The portions are HUGE and I've always left with leftovers!

Exceptional cheese pizza, possibly the best I ever had. Service was so-so. Not Great, Not horrible. Portions are huge, so it's a great value for your money. Families may want to share a meal. Stay away from the margarita pizza. Obviously we went happy with it, the manager brought out a couple of cheese slices and we couldn't believe how good they were. Wee have family in the area and will definitely be going back again and again.

Recently stopped in here after playing volleyball all day at the Pottstown Rumble and could not have picked a better place if I tried! Staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food was amazing! I split a large traditional pepperoni and sausage pizza that was cooked to perfect with the most delicious crust! The marinara sauce is to die for!!! Definitely recommend this gem if anyone is ever passing through and looking for some fantastic homemade Italian favorites!!

Hey - I have always loved G's pizza since I moved to the area 5 years ago. They are family of my FAVE pizza place, Palmeros in Pottstown, but they cant quite get the pie as good. Got a plain cheese pizza for pick up last night and although it is quality ingredients (cheese, sauce) the crust is thicker than normal and also dark and burned on the bottom. Disappointed! :(

First off I like to say, I love there food. I usually carryout, but over the weekend I decide to eat in and enjoy a nice meal. Walked in and felt lost on what to do to get seating, after a few minutes, someone asked if we want to eat in, and we replied yes. We were seated quickly after that, and waitress came to shortly after... After reading the huge menu of choice, we decide on pizza which made us want G in the first place. We got an appetizer to start, which was nice and hot, but we were then given paper plates to eat one, which was very disappointing. They are playing Italian music (which was a little loud) and the dinning area had a more restaurant feel, then a pizzeria. The price were more restaurant prices then pizzeria for sure. I've order several pizza with an onion topping, and this was the first time I was severed them raw, uncooked on top. I express my displeased with the waitress, hoping she would correct it, but instead she told me that I should have order it with fried onions, (which I don't want fried onions either) for the next time. BTW this wasn't on a pie in was on one slice of pizza order with a kids meal, in which then went home with me best she won't eat it (waste of money). Every time we order the same slice for her the onion are cooked under the cheese, not fired or raw. While waiting for the food I was checking out the VIP club, it sounded pretty cool, plus you get a free slice of pizza. Only draw back for the free slice of pizza is that you had to use it that day, which was a waste, since we already order. Toward the end of our meal, the music change from Italian to today hits, which was ok, but ok where they then turning back into a pizzeria not a restaurant. All and all I do like there food so I'll stick with takeout, and avoid eating in. They are easy to get to off of RT724. They did a nice job in converting the old deli over, there are a good number of table and booths, some seem a little tight then others

Top notch food excellent pizza excellent cheesesteaks never leave here hungry definitely try it out you can't go wrong they only problem is getting out of the parking lot without getting hit but I will not take a star for that.

The food is ok quality, the pizza tends to get soggy if you bring it home for pick up. I've also received a burnt Stromboli that we waited over an hour for. The staff are rude and blunt, especially at the counter. It's also cramped inside and so is the parking lot.

The Classic Italian Antipasto salad was amazing. I don't even like Antipasto salad, normally - but this has prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and artichoke hearts. It was amazing and large enough that three of us split it (AND it was under $10 dollars). I would probably order that as my entree on my next visit. The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella could be an appetizer all by itself. The menu for this place is huge and spans from classic Italian to regular bar food (e.g. mini tacos). We kept it simple and ordered a margherita pizza and the salad for three people. The pizza had 8 large pieces. We definitely should have ordered a smaller size. The pizza was just okay, but all of the ingredients appeared to be fresh. Service was super friendly, but slow. Checking out at the front counter is confusing - especially when there's no clear line, and people are picking up carry-out pizzas. It was chaotic and not time efficient. Servers should just be able to take payment from the table. It would be easier for all involved.

We just had dinner here Friday night. Again absolutely delicious. I had the lobster ravioli in rosa sauce. You have to try it!

Giovanni's is one of our favorite restaurants! The portions are HUGE and the food is always excellent. Most of the servers treat you like family when you go in there too. The owners are also great about giving back to the community through numerous fundraisers and programs. I give them a lot of credit - they run a great business! I highly recommend their Stuffed Rigatoni in a Rosa Sauce.

Huge portions of really good pizza shop variety Italian food. Nothing blows you away, but for the price point, it's a solid option any night of the week. They, and their sister restaurant Palermo's Pizza, have the best cheese pie (order it extra thin) this side of Osteria.

Everything that we've had here, perhaps a dozen different dishes, have been great. They clearly care about both the quality & quantity they serve which makes them a great choice for their location. The homemade tortellini should not be passed up, specifically the veal (if you are a veal fan). The only criticism I have is that some dishes are better served with less pasta - specifically those with specialty sauces (seafood dishes in particular). The parking lot is also a nightmare but they are making the best of it! Update 7/1/2011 If you get pizza get the margherita, its excellent. We've tried 3 or 4 different soups now, all good. The eggplant parm is excellent however the veal parm was questionable - it was made with a VEAL PATTY?? This seemed odd to me.

Giovanni's represents every day traditional Italian at an acceptable, not extrordinary, taste level. I'll keep this review short, simply because every day Italian fare is hard to f-up. But what Giovanni's does very well is pizza. Especially their white pizza. Ever other positive review here speaks the truth, so I won't be too repetitive. Service: Very good. Food: Well seasoned, but could benefit from a smaller menu and focus on all fresh ingredients. That isn't to say there are not some fresh ingredients, but there are certainly canned and frozen items here as well. Pizza is by far the best executed menu item, and primarily why we go here. We never eat in, so I will not be commenting on the building/decor. As for cleanliness, it does seem to be well kept, but again we always get take out. So for pizza, Giovanni's is one of the best in the area. They have a very good red sauce, not too sweet but very flavorful. The meats are tender and ingredient portions are well balanced. The white pizza is some of the best I've had. Great balance of garlic, salt, creamy fresh cheese and medium thickness crust. One sign of a great pizza is eating it cold. I've had both cold and can tell you the flavors, while not ideal, hold up well. That is usually a sign that the cheese is authentic and fresh, not that oily cheese you eat at cheap pizza restaurants. As for anything else, meh, average. This is no Vetri's for sure. But for a quick Italian meal, it isn't bad. Giovanni's does not have a website. A huge misstep in todays marketplace and frankly, a little nearsighted for what it would take. IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW TO BE HELPFUL, PLEASE RATE IT AND SEND ME A COMMENT.

Food is great. If you do go to eat in- DON'T bring kids and DON'T go with more then 4 people. It is super cramped and not very kid friendly. Service is usually just ok not great. Again food is wonderful but I recommend take out. Enjoy.

Good food but difficult to find a good table. Always end up sitting next to a screaming baby or obnoxious child. Just get the take out instead.

Service was okay...food took a long time.. the portions are HUGE. Probably the biggest portions I have ever seen in my life, actually. We took everything home - which isn't a bad thing, it's definitely better than small portions. But, I wish I would have known this because I would not have ordered so much. For a local little spot, I think it's good. I'd go back....but I'd stick with just a kids meal.

I've tried a lot of pizza places in the area, and so far, this is at the top of the list. I've only gotten pizza here a couple of times, but it's been great both times. I always get a large pie with tomato and bacon (not a white pie), and it's been really excellent both times. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because they weren't consistent with the amount of toppings, which makes me hope there won't be issues down the road when I order from them again. That being said, they use cherry tomatoes instead of diced, and the bacon on the pie has been excellent. The sauce/cheese ratio has been stop on with fantastic flavor, and the crust is really top notch. If you like a good pizza, give this place a shot! I will go back.

We have been here many times, as well as their Royersford location. They do have the best pizza around and the lobster/shrimp raviolis are really good too. Our biggest issue is the awful service when coming in to pick up food, especially when it's a little later in evening. It's happened twice now that when we come in, the waitresses are busy counting their tips at the counter, look at you, then take their money and disappear. Not one word out of them, not even a simple 'someone will be right with you'! Absolutely unacceptable... especially when I complained to manager about this, then it happened to my husband! Definitely makes us want to go elsewhere!

Driving by this place you would wonder why the parking lot is always so jammed. This is your typical " diamond in the rough" local italian place that is EXCELLENT. Stay away from the chains like Olive Garden and treat yourself to : large portions, delicious italian sauce (or gravy, whichever you prefer), family type of atmosphere and wonderful staff. I ordered the baked penne (had three meals out of it later in the week!) The home made italian style salad dressing was really good as well. They were packed but we didnt wait long to get our salads and garlic bread, and entrees. I cannot wait to go back.

Giovanni's is always a wonderful place to come to. the service is always good, the staff are very kind and always attentive. the dinners are out standing, the platters could feed three people. Some of my favorite dishes on the menu is Fettuccini Alfredo and Ravioli and the have a fantastic Connolis I have also had the pizza here(duh, you can't have and Italian restraint with out pizza) . That is also phenomenal. The dinner prices range from about 19 to 8 dollars. To me that's not bad. If you are looking for good Italian food I would recommend Giovanni's

EVERYTHING on the menu at Giovanni's is excellent. The food is outstanding, authentic Italian cuisine - full of flavor and fun. The portions are enormous, so bring a hearty appetite. The staff really makes you feel like family. My family loves Giovanni's so much that we've asked them to cater our wedding's rehearsal dinner (and wish we had asked them to cater the whole wedding!). You simply cannot go wrong at Giovanni's.

Top notch Italian food and plenty of it. The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. If you like Italian food you need to try this place. Giovanni's beats the Italian wannabe restaurants like Olive Garden.

I am extremly upset. Been driving by for awhile now and always see lots of cars. So we knew they had to have good food. Hours for Saturday are till 11 p.m. at least that is what their sign says on the door. We arrive at 9:50 p.m. a good hour before closing we walk in and there is a worker mopping the floor a waitress walking across the floor so of coarse trying to be ever the nice patron ask "Are you still serving?" mind you we were a table of 5. She looks at us and says nothing but yells to the back I am assuming asking the question after a few minutes of being stared at with no answer I tell hubby and teenagers lets go and proceed to walk out and some lady comes out and says to my husband who was the last out of the line (you know like a mother with her ducks in a row) "We are closed and blah blah blah" My husband felt that she was rude with her tone and he is usually the calm one. I felt like walking back in there and telling her to change her hours on her sign. So with that I will never attempt to come back to eat at Giovanni's because if can't live up to what they put in writting than your not worth it!!!

Giovanni's is a decent little italian place. The food is good, not "knock your socks off" good, but good. There are a few things I think they could improve to make me come back more often. 1. Menu: The menu is nice and large, full of choices. At the same time there is not much flexibility in substituting sides. Waitresses have been pretty rigid. The variety also means that the quality of the food coming out sometimes suffers as it is apparent that the kitchen sometimes struggles with consistency. I believe they would benefit from perhaps focusing the menu a bit. 2. Price: Yes, I realize they give you big portions. However, I'd prefer smaller portions and more manageable prices. We always drop waaaaay more money at Giovanni's than I would care to drop at a family-style italian restaurant that sits on 724. This most definitely keeps us from going to/ordering through Giovanni's as often as we might. So focus the menu and portions and prices. 3. Wait staff: I believe we've dined in with Giovanni's 3 or 4 times. I'd say 3 out of the 4 times we were sort of put off by the waitresses. They did not come off as friendly or accommodating for what most restaurants would consider simple substitutions. In fact, I can't think of any other place that has ever denied us switching one side out for another side. Our last experience was pretty bad, we had a large party and the waitress told us she had another large party waiting. We had people at the table who had clearly not finished their meals when she told us this. So then we felt rushed (and the section where our table was had nobody else in it, it's not like the restaurant was packed). File this under how not to get a good tip. Less than 5 minutes later, she came back looking to take more stuff and she literally just stood by the table staring at us. It was ridiculously uncomfortable. We weren't just sitting around doing nothing, we were finishing our meals! I can tell you, that experience is going to keep us from dining in there for quite a while. 4. Accuracy: On carry out, I've been burned multiple times when they either gave us the wrong thing or forgot to give us something. After the 3rd time that happened, we just check the order before leaving. I just wish we could trust that they'll get it right. These sort of things can either be mistakes (which are fine, but don't make a habit of it) or indications that there are bigger things being missed inside the restaurant. If you take pride in your job, you'll care about getting the order right. If you don't, then I have reason to believe much more is not handled with care. So whenever someone says "should we go to Giovanni's?" it's a little risky. Yes, we'll get good food, but not good enough to put up with the cost and the inconsistent service. I want to like this place, which is why we keep going back. I hope some of these things can at some point change. Until then, it is a mid-range fallback option when we are pressed for time and don't want to drive up 100.

We ate here about two years ago, and we did not care for it. I feel this is the Italian version of The Seven Stars" on Rt 23, Huge Portions that lack quality. only hear "wow they give you so much"& "we ate it the next night also" not how great the food was.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
