This was about half way between Easton and Philadelphia right off PA 611. The Piper Inn is a historic tavern circa somewhere around 1757. They have done a great job updating it but keeping a Colonial feel. Service was really outstanding. Our servers were young, but much more professional and attentive than someone without years of experience. We wanted a leisurely meal so made reservations for 5PM. There were plenty of tables open when we arrived. By the time we left, it was packed. I had a martini to start. At first I was disappointed in the size. It was a little smaller than I expected. But o noticed there was a small carafe with a second serving in it. So, the size was actually good. I started with their Piper Salad - mixed greens, cucumber, cranberries and a few other things in a Dijon vinaigrette. They were generous on the dressing, but it tasted pretty good. For the main course I chose their Bay Scallops. The dinner consisted of seven plump scallops. Cooked well (not overcooked) but lacking in flavor. They forgot my vegetable, but brought it out quickly when we asked. Too much food to try a desert. But, we did have coffee. Not too bad. Their menu had many options. I think scallops are tricky so don't always fault a chef when they are not perfect. I would certainly return but think I would go for one of their other entrees next time.

A friend was visiting from New York, and wanted to take us out to celebrate my father's 89th birthday. We called midweek and made a relatively early dinner reservation for Sunday. We arrived a bit early and they were able to seat us right away. Our waitress was very attentive and available initially. Unfortunately things went downhill once we ordered. We waited approx. half an hour for our salads and soup with empty drinks and no dinner rolls (which had been promised). We finally each got a dinner roll, which were warm and tasted good. We also finally got our second drinks. Then it was another half hour before the waitress came over and said the kitchen would not substitute the pretzel bun on my order, even though I had specifically asked about this prior to ordering and was told it would be no problem. Seriously?! I would have been happy with another dinner roll. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said she had already mentioned that to the kitchen, but they refused. Apparently this was too much to ask. So, here we were, it was now over an hour and a half since we had arrived, over an hour since we had ordered, and now everyone at the table had to wait for me to order something else. I just decided not to order anything else so that it wouldn't take any longer. When the food finally arrived, the steak that my father ordered, and the filet mignon that our friend ordered were both significantly overcooked. They were gracious about it and ate their food, but there is no excuse for overcooked steak and filet to that degree. My mother enjoyed the shrimp and scallop pasta she ordered, and the fish and chips that another person in our party ordered was excellent. Our waitress was very pleasant and apologetic, however, my entree had not been removed from the bill before it arrived at our table, so now we had to wait for that to be handled. Had we had better service and had the steaks been cooked as ordered, even in spite of the excessive wait, we would have ordered coffee/tea and dessert that evening, and would have given them a try again in the future. What a disappointment.

Stopped in for lunch after tubing... Our son had the hearty and tasty chicken noodle soup and we had the steak cobb salad and chili salad. All the food was delicious and we also had a great chocopeanutbutter dessert. We were under dressed in our cover ups but weren't made to feel out of place. Our server, Rita, was fabulous, friendly, helpful, and speedy. Drinks were pricey and no taps as a down side...

It's been about 8-10 years since I last visited the Pipersville Tavern, for no good reason, as our last meal there, while not that memorable, was fine. We found ourselves in the area at cocktail hour, and decided to pop in for a glass of wine and some nosh. My wife and I decided to sit at the bar, and for starters the Tavern is extremely well kept, clean and inviting. With our wine we decided on the Calamari, which was delicious and fried expertly, with a light cornmeal crust. The side dipping sauce was not our style-mayo/mustard/not sure what, it didn't work. The squid was so good and the bar so comfortable that we decide to stay for dinner, and my wife and I split the Crabcakes. The meal came with a salad, and we decided on the Iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing. The dressing was unreal, delicious, robust, perfection on a beautifully fresh and crisp wedge. There's no where to hide with a dish like this, and the Tavern nailed it. Two excellent and nicely seared crabcakes followed, served with farm fresh vegetables and a Yukon Gold mashed potatoes that tasted like they were made with buttermilk-just outstanding. The crabcakes were pure fresh crab, no fillers, but again the only thing lacking was the sauce they served along side of, I surmise some sort of Beurre Monte, just lacking. Surprising that the blue cheese dressing was so good, and the other sauces were lacking? But all in all, delicious food, cooked with a lot of care, particularly the vegetables in a comfortable setting. We'll be back a lot more often than we have in the past. One of the better meals we've had in Bucks County this summer.

I have dined at the Pipersville Tavern a number of times over the years. Each meal has always been in the very good to excellent range. The service also is very good. Your glass always has water and the wait staff is attentive. I am giving this latest dining experience a 2 star rating for the following reasons. First, when deciding on a restaurant, I often do a web search and check out the menu for selection and prices. What I found is that the Pipersville menu on their web site is out of date. Two of the four people in my group were not able to order the two entre selections they had chosen from the online menu because they were no longer available..Those selections were actually the reason we chose to dine there. Second, Another disappointment with this meal was the lack of presentation. Ironically, we both ordered the crab au gratin as our second choice. The crab was tasty, but, not anything I would get excited about. Here's where a boring meal gets more boring. Crab meat, white, mashed potatos, white, cauliflour, white. That's white on white on white. The only color on the plate was an orchid. And cauliflour? Are you kidding me? The cauliflour was absolutely bland and all four of us got cauliflour.

I had my daughter's baby shower at The Piper Tavern because her baby is going to be named Piper. I could not be more pleased with the event. The food was so good, every single guest commented on it. We had Mandy as our server and she was perfect. All of the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming to our guests. I came for the name, but would recommend this dining experience on all accounts.

The Piper Tavern is a cozy establishment with good food and very friendly service. The humor of this historic establishment is shown in it's signage around the bar area - one sign stating that "On This Spot February 29, 1776 Absolutely Nothing Happened." Typically, I think signage clutters and distracts from an experience, but here it compliments the business well. The building contains a small bar area (seats about 10 at the bar), a dining room, and an open kitchen. The menu is very large for a fresh business, including bar menu items and dining room items in the menu. I'd recommend some better organization of the appetizers in the layout, moving the pub appetizers with the other pub fare at the back of the menu, but not a deal breaker. For appetizers, I had the Santa Fe Chili and my girlfriend the Clams Casino. The Chili is good and served with chips. I ordered this because I was warned by our server that the nacho platter was enormous; it also has the Chili as a topping. My girlfriend raves about the Clams Casino staying that they are "amazing!" She had them once when we stopped here years ago, and she said they were outstanding both times. For entrees, I had the Seafood Cannellonis and my girlfriend the Lump Crab Au Gratin. The Cannellonis are awesome and the flavors of the seafood, pasta, and lobster sherri cream reduction compliment each other perfectly. The Lump Crab Au Gratin is a different story. The blend with the crab meat seemed to add little flavor and the bread crumb topping didn't enhance the dish; it was like eating heated crab meat without compliment. The server was extremely friendly and attentive during our visit. Overall, the Piper is an excellent place to eat and we'd recommend it. We visited years ago and had fond memories of our visit. Now, during our return we still think it is a strong, cozy establishment, with a vibrant personality and good food.

Just had lunch at the tavern after coming upon the restaurant by chance. The tavern has quite a bit of charm. It was quiet for a Sunday afternoon. We had the chicken sandwich and the onion soup as entrees. We shared a delicious white and dark chocolate mousse bombe. The food was served promptly and tasted good. There was a 75 cent martini special going on with lunch, but we did not have one. Their martini menu was extensive and I would definitely go back to try one.

I have to say, this is one of the best places in Bucks County. I went here when I graduated high school, and I also went here when my girlfriend at the time graduated as well. I definitely recommend getting a reservation because I think that's all they allow, but maybe you could show up as a walk in and still get seated if it isn't a busy night. They change up the menu every so often and everything is always exquisite and of the highest quality. They prepare food in an open kitchen like the other review said, and they won't be afraid to answer questions you might have of them. The waiters and waitresses are all very courteous and professional and are very good at making sure you get what you want. They refill your drinks as needed and usually without asking. The only downfall is that they are pretty pricey, but quite honestly you get exactly what you pay for and it is amazing. I've never had better food then when I was here. They so serve a cheaper lunch menu with is pretty affordable and is also very good. I don't think I've ever come here and not liked what I had to eat.
