The food is awesome and the service exceptional been here twice definitely will be back. Highly recommend chicken saltimbocca and the Halibut and the New York strip Delish. The bartender Robbie is also exceptional at his job and very friendly.

Stopped in for Dinner on a Saturday night early. Service was friendly but the poor guy looked like he was running the whole place solo with the help of the bartender. A bit odd for what should be the busiest day of the week. Food was good. A bit heavy handed on the salt but I don't really use salt so I may be sensitive. My girlfriend has a food allergy and they were very accommodating. Its not cheap but we did enjoy the meal, the location and the atmosphere. Friendly staff is always appreciated as well.

Perfect place for a business lunch! This place seems really underrated so I'm really glad I found it since I'm running out of new places to try for lunch in the city. This is the first floor of a hotel, right on Walnut, and has great views of the city (also Deadman Down was filmed here). We got seats right away and for appetizers ordered awesome, light and fresh gnocchi and fried calamari. Both dishes were really really good and light. Next was my salmon salad. I loved the lightly crispy fish and great dressing, so filling and flavorful. I also had a bite of the chicken pasta which was also great. Next we had to try the dessert. The three part creme brulee sampler was perfect, I loved the cappuccino one. The lava cake was super dark, rich and creamy. Overall everyone was really impressed and happy with lunch, plus we had a great waitress and all of the food came out really fast. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new place to try! Plus, the prices are completely reasonable.

Walked in asked about what saugvion blanc they had and the bartender gave me a taste it was okay so i had ordered a glass ...... Now the bartender knowing that he never gave me a wine list or any type of menus didn't tell me was that a little small glass was 15$ a big shock when i got the check ..... Way over priced no wonder why it's dead .... The bartender wasn't at all friendly and basically ignored me after I ordered closed out right away ....Never coming back

Got the steak for my entree, asked for a medium rare, out came a well-done. I was with a business partner, so I didn't send it back to the kitchen. On the more positive side, good ambience, had some great wines, and overall good service.

Few complaints right off the bat...we came here for a quick drink to kill time before our night plans and they were out of most of the menu speciality cocktails. This was because they were out of sour mix from the "busy night" before. The strange thing was that my friend tried to order a Mojito...I'm not bartender, but I'm pretty certain a Mojito isn't supposed to have sour mix. Anyways.... I had a Dirty Martini and it rocked. We also decided to share the Fried Calamari which tasted great and the Garlic Aioli Sauce was yummy. It was a tad too fried for my liking, but it was good. I ordered the Veggies Soup and it never came out...but at that point i didn't even want it. Overall this place was OK. It was attached to our Hotel so its hard to avoid.

$22 pre tip for a glass of wine and a draft beer. Ouch. Lovely bar though and our server was nice.

I had a wonderful lunch here. When I arrived with my girlfriend we were told to sit where we pleased. That was just what I wanted to hear, as I picked out a seat at the window facing Walnut street. This was not only a nice sunny table perfect for people watching, but was also approximately where Terrence Howard sat when I watch him filming the movie Dead Man Down in this restaurant a couple of years ago. The server was very attentive and I ordered the marinated skirt steak sandwich while my girlfriend ordered the Tuscan salad. My sandwich was delicious. The steak was so juicy that it was dripping on to the plate. It came with a small basket of fries The salad also got rave reviews. We both cleaned our plates. I never hear people talk about this restaurant and there were not many people there. So I feel like I've found a hidden gem. I will definitely be back again.

Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The decor was classic with a touch of rustic features. There was music playing through out the dining experience, which only made it that much more enjoyable. We sat in a table near the window & enjoyed the beautiful sun glistening. I ordered the Tuscan salad with grill chicken. The salad was absolutely delicious! From the roma tomatoes, to the roasted red peppers, pine nuts, and flavorful gorgonzola sprinkled on the plate; the mixed olives were the absolute perfect addition to this subtle masterpiece .The honey balsamic vinaigrette brought the proper amount of sweetness & acidity to make this salad heavenly. This restaurant provided a quaint yet inviting atmosphere. The staff was friendly and warm. The only drawback for me, was there was no complimentary bread offered upon arrival. Overall this hidden gem deserves a 4 out of 5 stars. I will definitely be returning to this place.

Urban Enoteca was an amazing experience! I was visiting Philly and happened upon it. I will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone! The Italian soup was Devine and the beet salad was perfection!

My crew and I were in town for a day for a film shoot on Christmas Eve/Day. We ate all our meals from the kitchen of the Urban Enoteca, the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious. The chef is all about local and fresh ingredients which is very important to me. The fare is Italian fusion. They also prepare standards for room service. Like the Latham hotel that Urban Enoteca is an element of, the dining room is compact and modern. We spent a lot of time in the dining room/lounge which flows from the hotel lobby and the staff was super accommodating and personable.

Disclaimer: I visited Urban Enoteca a few weeks ago, so the review is not exactly "fresh." I went to Urban Enoteca when I was staying in the Latham for my brother's law school graduation. My party was composed of my parents, three grandparents, my brother, and myself. We were a large party, and thus were pretty obviously going to be a high-cost bill. The manager took note of this and was sure to tell us that if we needed anything, he was the guy to talk to. Top notch. Our waitress was also really pleasant, and was very patient even when we were kind of slow to decide what we wanted. She was also very quick to bring us more bottles of wine (which, hey, I can never complain about). But - even though the customer service was WONDERFUL, the food was just...lackluster for the majority of our party. Which is REALLY disappointing. We started with the molten fontina dip and the artisan cheeseboard. Both of these were delicious (I can't argue with cheese) but there really were not enough crackers/breads to support our party. I know that sounds petty, but it was just something that would have been nice. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca for my main course. It was actually rather good and was cooked well. But it was swimming in oil! That was just a little unappetizing, and left me with a bit of a tummyache afterwards. But, it was delicious, so sometimes good food comes at a cost. My experience, as you can see, was fine. However, the food was just incredibly inconsistent - it arrived at our table in five minute waves, which was just odd. My father's strip steak was overcooked, and his gnocchi was SCORCHED. Like it didn't even resemble gnocchi anymore. My grandmother ordered her burger medium rare and it came out FULLY well done. And my mom's salad had a baby thumb sized portion of salmon and maybe two flecks of goat cheese in the whole thing. It just wasn't consistent. The problem, of course, is that my family is very much of the mindset that they don't want to be a burden to waitstaff and management, so nobody actually vocalized their issues. I feel that maybe that would have mitigated the concern, considering just how attentive the staff was. So I'll leave you with this: go on a slow night, later at night. Make sure to develop a good repartee with your server and the manager. And if something is wrong, DON'T BE AFRAID TO SAY SOMETHING. They will likely help.

Came into day for the restaurant week lunch. My meal was fantastic. Lobster bisque was creamy with a good amount of lobster and not too rich. The lobster and shrimp bucatini had very large shrimp and chunks of lobster. The serving size was just right and honestly I could have kept eating it. Finished up with the cheesecake that had a nice raspberry coulis.

This place has a relaxing atmosphere (in a great location), good wine list, and friendly staff. I loved the dessert as well. I went with my boyfriend and we shared the creme brûlée trio (expresso, vanilla, chocolate) which was delicious. My boyfriend got wings as a starter that were tasty. Besides that, the burger was overcooked, my boyfriends chicken entree had no flavor, and my pasta tasted like tomato soup. Go for a drink and/or dessert or don't go at all.

Urban Enoteca is everything that you want in a hotel bar and restaurant. Friendly service from the bartender that makes a tourist feel right at home? Check. Good selection of libations, including yummy specialty cocktails and craft beer? Check. Great selection of food for anytime, including brunch, happy hour, and late night noshing. Check, Check, and Check. The wife and I loved our stay at The Latham, but let's give credit where credit is due - a large part of that was because of the excellent food, drink, and service at Urban Enoteca. We made three stops at Urban Enoteca during our short time in Philly. The first was shortly after we checked in. We were starving and in dire need of some adult beveragination, and decided check out the "hotel bar" while we reviewed the handy dandy Yelp app for dinner options. The beer selection is limited to four, but three of them are from northeast craft breweries - Flying Fish (IPA), Brookyln (Brown), and Philly's own Yards (Pale). I ordered a beer and my wife got a cocktail, and we shared an order of their fresh hand-cut fries with truffle sea salt and saffron dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was nice, but the truffle sea salt really set the fries off. The bartender was awesome. I forget his name but he works most of the nights and is funny, friendly, and makes a great cocktail. And we saw quite a bit of him the next night. After a long day of sightseeing and an early dinner, we were back at out hotel at about 7:30PM. After taking a break in our room for an hour or so, we decided to head back down for a few drinks. We were warmly greeted and joined by some rather amusing bar company. With the beer selection limited, I decided to try one of their specialty drinks - the espresso martini. Made with fresh espresso, it was bursting with rich coffee flavor and was awesome. As we got close to the witching hour, the combination of early dinner and several drinks led us to ordering late night food. With the kitchen still in full operation, the wife ordered a small portion of their house-made tagliolini, served with chicken, mushrooms, pine nuts, spinach, peas, with a porcini cream sauce. The $14 "small" portion was an ample serving of pasta and it was fantastic. I had to bribe my wife just to let me try it. But my bribe was a bite of my delicious Butcher's Burger. This was a very memorable burger, topped with pancetta, fontina cheese, and a truffle aioli. Our final visit was for Sunday brunch after checkout. The wife went for traditional pancakes, while I went for the awesome stuffed french toast. Big thick slices stuffed with mascarpone and topped with berries. Both were served with warm maple syrup and left us happy and full as we took the hotel shuttle to the train station. I would absolutely stay at Latham again, and Urban Enoteca plays a large part in that. I enjoy staying at the boutique hotels over the large chains, and this is among the best restaurants I've seen accompany a boutique hotel.

We walked in for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon. Approached the bar to place our order, but the bar tender told us we could sit any where in the lounge. We sit down relatively close to the bar and wait...and wait. We wait about 15 minutes and no one came up to us to get our drink order so we left. The place itself is really nice looking, too bad we couldn't hang out longer with a drink.

we stayed at the latham for our visit to philly. the hotel was great, and we were excited to check out the restaurant downstairs. i really wanted to like it, but i just couldn't, even after a few visits. our first experience was for drinks before meeting a friend. it took a while for us to be greeted and be shown to a table. no big deal, except that it then took a long while to be given menus. it wasn't a terrible experience, but just strange that a place so empty could have such service as if it were packed. the next day we got breakfast as part of our hotel stay. we ordered small breakfast, as we're not big breakfast people. but the portions were easily enough to feed us for two days. in fact, we skipped lunch and felt full at dinner time! our fault, i know, but i don't see why urban enoteca has to charge such a premium and give portions to "get bang for your buck." further, when i showed them our coupon for free breakfast, apparently i said goodbye to any hopes for decent service. my water glass was never filled, it took close to twenty minutes to get our bill after asking, and the waitress claimed i never gave her the coupon until later she realized it was in her pocket. i'm giving this place two stars instead of one because the bartender our first night was awesome.

I stayed at the Latham briefly about a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Gorgeous space and very comfortable accommodations... and this was even during its (re)construction. This was my first time back at the Latham, and Urban Enoteca was a little underwhelming. Service wasn't wonderful and overall the atmosphere and decor doesn't live up to the Latham's standards. I had their burger, which was decent, but definitely overcooked. Pricey also, and I think the execution doesn't merit the price. I think there's potential, but I think it needs to be better served and the menu potentially restructured.

I had a terrible experience here. This was my second time here and I was expecting them to have worked out the "new place" quirks. Stopped for a drink while shopping on a Friday evening flyer work. The wine was totally overpriced as was the food. I ordered a Chardonnay which tasted over ripe.... Then the bruschetta trio. The toppings were great - tomatoes and basil, salty delicious red peppers and wild mushrooms that were actually wild mushrooms (not just button mushrooms sautéed into an unrecognizable state). Burrata was delicious too. Unfortunately all the good ingredients were ruined by bread that was essentially soaked in oil. I am fan of piles crostini, but this was like fried bread. I could get over this but the waiter then ignored me from one stool away for 20 minutes while he complained to his industry friends about how straws are stored behind the bar. I was planning to order one of their half portion pastas - a concept I really appreciate - but he never asked. He never asked if I wanted another drink. The menu has potential but it's poorly executed and the service was terrible! Nt heading back soon.

Amazing Service and Awesome food. If you come here try their wine (Its on tap). If you love wings, try their herb chicken wings. If you come for brunch have their bacon egg cheese on a panini along with a mimosa! This restaurant deserves alot more credit than it gets. You need to market yourselves better. It's too beautiful along with Amazing food to be that empty. Plus Katie, Robbie, Jon and Elyse are amazing. Hard workers and defintely made me feel welcomed during my stay at the Latham. Hope to see you all again! :)

Although my burger was great, my girlfriend and I found it significantly annoying when our waitress turned our thirty minute lunch into an hour and a half ordeal. She took 20 minutes to get us our bill at 2 in the afternoon when we were practically the only people in the place! After she took our cards, she took almost thirty minutes to actually give them back to us. When checking my bank statement the other day, I found that the same idiot waitress charged me for my bill AND SOMEONE ELSE'S, which you would think would be an easy fix, but now I have some "accountant" for the place "looking into" my "case", like it's a homicide. If you want good food, I recommend the place, but the amount of unintelligence presented by the staff is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time for people with busy lives.

The kitchen staff is wayyyyyyy too slow. We waited about 40 minutes and still did not receive our appetizer. Waitress said it was close to coming out, which meant our main dishes were never going to arrive. The waitress was nice and quickly gave us our check for the drinks, but wow, I can't believe the kitchen was that slow. The dining room can't hold more than 10 or 15 tables. Waste of time.

I hope Urban Enoteca excels as a restaurant because it fails miserably as a hotel bar. It might help contextualize things better to let you know first and foremost that I am a beer/whisky fan. It would also probably be in your best interest to know that I'm also not a fan of paying 9 dollars a glass for regional wines that cost that much back in my home state of California because well, that's pretty self-explanatory. Urban Enoteca does just that. It sports a very elegant lounge-like atmosphere with all their signature wines hanging from vino dispensers all the while sporting neither a high-end nor an extensive wine list; they only carry three beers on tap (which, as is expected of all hotel bars, is overpriced to hell and back) and they have an extremely marginal scotch offering. (unlike the bar at the other hotel I stayed at, which surprisingly carried my second favorite Islay scotch) One saving grace about my experience at Urban Enoteca was the fact that there was this guy that had just turned 21 there on the night that I decided to come down from my hotel room for a drink, and this extremely intoxicated woman who I presumed was there as part of a business group decided to buy everyone in the bar (all five of us) a round of tequila shots. Whereas I do hate tequila, I find intoxicated people buying shots for strangers on the silly notion that it's someone's 21st birthday hilarious. Here's to you, drunk 31yo blonde lady who bought me what was possibly the most disgusting shot of tequila of my life.

I absolutely loved this place. I went for Happy Hour and tried the wings, beet salad, gnocchi and creme brulee. Everything was so good, my taste buds were singing. The atmosphere was intimate and the service was great. I'm adding this to my list of favorite spots!

We stopped by Urban Enoteca last night for a drink. Had my boyfriend not reminded me that it was the former location of Jolly's (I reminded him that it was actually the Redhead Lounge before that), it would have taken me a while to make the realization. The floors have been raised and the place is much brighter and now much more modern. Gone is the piano and in its place, table seating and a few large TVs - perfect for catching a game. The drink menu is expansive and perhaps even a little gimmicky, but they also do classic cocktails very well. A bloody Mary was solid and my martini was just how I requested. The Manhattan pleased the bf enough for a second round. The corner locale provides a great spot for people-watching, though we had to settle for the street and hotel lobby view since there were so few people in the bar itself. Servers were friendly and eager. I may return sometime for a drink, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way, either.

The stuffed French toast was awesome, as well as the eggs Benedict. It was stuffed with some type of fruit cream cheese, and topped with the most delicious whipped cream I think I ever had. We didn't even crack open the syrup. The Canadian bacon in my eggs Benedict were salty, while the yolk ran all over my plate. I love when the yolk is a little bit runny. Again, I liked my boyfriend's food more than mine.

Its newish. Its nearish and it looks OK-ish. But ... Actually a bit ho-hum. Sangria made to order (ie. no fruit infusion). Limited beers. Betrays its hotel bar status really. Wine pouring system designed by accountants. (press a button for 1oz, 3oz, 5oz etc - no room for human "error"/"generosity"). Not really stylish enough for the price. Fine as an alternative to shopping if you are on walnut street (and maybe have a Y chromosome) but not worth it as a destination.

  • Jessica W.

I went for Sips and liked the space and specials--$3 truffle fries (that were really delicious paired with the malt vinegar aoli), $6 bruschetta (which were good, but overpriced, especially at the normal $12), and $4 wine (who are we kidding, at 4 bucks any wine tastes great!). And though this was a great place for Sips because there wasn't a huge crowd, I doubt I would go back on a regular night. The prices on their menu seemed $3-$4 too high and nothing really blew my mind.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
