Some friends and I had a late-night dinner here recently. Basically, it's good for drinks and okay for a late-night meal when better places are already closed. The beer selection is limited, but good and they have some inexpensive wines that my friends enjoyed. I sampled a bunch of the dishes and they all fell in the meh-i've-had-better-and-worse category. The mashed potatoes and french fries were tasty. Veggies were unremarkable. Salmon and baked potato were overcooked and dry. Steak was cooked medium, as requested, but tasted bland and cheap. Chicken thumbs were passable, especially when drowned in the honey-mustard sauce. The mozzarella sticks were, again, okay. The prices are reasonable and the service acceptable. I was disappointed, however, that our previously friendly server disappeared as soon as we paid our bill and did not ask if we wanted anything else like, say, water, which we did. The place was deserted at that point so it was not as if other tables were keeping her busy. Oh well.

Came for brunch around 9:30AM on a Sunday morning. No one was in the restaurant which was weird, but people started coming in after we sat down. My veggie omelette was well cooked and had tons of yummy veggies. My friend's chocolate chip pancakes were super chocolatey - almost like a dessert. The prices are GREAT for the neighborhood and the quality of the food. The ambience is chill and the waitress was nice. All-in-all a good quality brunch place.

Love this place, good wine and food all at good prices

I had the chicken salad. It was pretty good. my only complaint is that my salad might have been sitting for a bit too long and had the greens become wilted by the salad dressing. the chicken was well cooked and I loved the use of grapes and grape tomatoes for the flavor. They also added walnuts to the plate for a little crunch. (probably to play on the fact that the restaurant is on walnut street .... haha but that isn't true). I went here with two of my friends to catch up and hang out and the service was good. The kitchen is connected to the irish put next door but I didn't feel a lag in service time because of that.. would definitely go back again

If you are looking for a bar with weekend happy hour this is the place! The bar was a lot quieter then the restaurant area. I've been here twice and have not been disappointed with the martinis. If you're in the Rittenhouse Sq area, stop by.

Cute cafe, but food was less than mediocre. The original plan was to go to Vernick next door, but the wait would be too long. So, we decided to give this place a try. Between a few friends, we ordered the calamari sticks, caesar salad, fish tacos, and buffalo chicken macaroni and cheese off their dinner menu: Calamari sticks: ok, so I read the menu wrong and was thinking fried calamari in my head. So when a plate of mozzarella stick looking things were served, I was a bit surprised. Too much batter, too oily, tastes like something you get out of the frozen aisles of a grocery store, and the dipping sauce was not any better. Caesar salad: soggy Fish tacos: flour tortilla was a bit stale, very little filling Buffalo chicken macaroni and cheese: tastes like left over buffalo chicken (again, the frozen kind) chopped and mixed into macaroni and cheese. Don't ask why I even ordered this. Maybe it was just our selection...but I don't plan to come back. The main plus is the price. For about $10, you can get a main (such as the above mentioned) that comes with 1 side and a small soup or salad. Good bang for buck.

Meh, it's aight... Boy and I stopped by for some small bites late-ish; it was completely empty (though Irish Pub seemed to be pretty busy). We had some hummus and some fries, and both were rather mediocre. Well... the fries were mediocre; I'd avoid the hummus if I were you. 's ok. Nothing to write home (or Yelp) about, really.

Extended Happy Hour? Yes, please. This place has deals from 5-8pm instead of just 5-7. Outdoor seating, $3 lager, pretty good steak fries. A friend ordered some questionable-looking hummus, but overall it was a decent experience.

Having read the reviews we still decided to give this place a shot since they were so mixed. I should have talked my friend out of the choice. The place is cute and clean and was completely empty on a rainy tuesday evening at 7ish so we picked our own table at the windows by the front. The bartender/host also turned out to be our waiter. He was very friendly and courteous. Initial drink order was not correct (used twist of lemon when lime was requested) but very good about correcting it. The new drink was...meh...it was very watery. I could barely taste the cranberry and couldn't taste vodka. I did not bother to order another and switched to soda. The menu had limited choices, but an ok variety. Waiter couldnt tell me what the seasonal vegetables were. I suggested a few things they might be-he picked squash and zuchini and carrots-but friend got them and it was a green bean medley (completely different!) My steak had almost no flavor, but cooked fine-A1 to the rescue! I had ordered a caesar salad with ranch dressing on the side with my meal. When the caesar salad came they had still put caesar dressing on it in addition to the side of dressing (i gave them the benefit of the doubt...i never said "in place of". Sliced tomatoes were also on it (which i am allergic to). Again-benefit of the doubt-i never clearly defined my allergies-but never once in my adult life have i ever received a caesar dressing with tomatoes. When i pointed it out and asked for a plate so i could remove them due to my allergy his reply was a big smile and "they come with tomoatoes here". No offer of a new salad-nothing. In eating my steak i found a hair under the meat...again giving them the benefit of the doubt as i do tend to shed :-\ The dessert menu only had 3 items and by this point i was ready to leave so we skipped dessert. We did enjoy the privacy of having the place to ourselves and the food was edible for sure, but i will not be recommending or going back :-( One last note-this restaurant's website describes it as being a place for the ladies to enjoy....but in the restroom i couldnt even see the top of my head in the mirror. ...no checking your hair or face in the mirror ladies-at least unless you are taller than 5'3"lol !

Great brunch spot. The Eggs Ben Franklin and the tomato bisque are craveable. They don't slack on the amount of alcohol they put in your bloody marys and mimosas either.

Went here for brunch the other day and I was pleasantly surprised at the prices and atmosphere. We walked in on a whim- hungry and tired and immediately got a table by the window. Prices were great for brunch- most items were between $6 - $8. My eggs capri was wonderful and my boyfriend got amazing chocolate chip pancakes. The service was a bit shaky and the coffee refills were at times to slow for a Sunday brunch. We got the check and it was $14 for the both of us- they didn't charge for coffee (I think they could tell I was a bit grumpy). The staff was pleasant and the food was decent enough, especially for the price.

Update: the Lucky Lady martini is no longer on the happy hour menu. Instead it's an apple martini. Also, the burger sliders and hummus platter aren't on the happy hour menu anymore either. My beloved happy hour specials are gone, and I am sad.

I suppose it's not fair to judge a place solely on its brunch if there's so much more to it ... and yet I can't find myself able to consider coming back to a place that takes what should be delicious ingredients such as eggs beans and avocado and mix them together in a magnificently flavorless concoction with a side of salsa that may as well have been ketchup. Perhaps just a *dash of salt might improve the cook's product? At least my Bloody Mary didn't suck. If I'm ever in a position to come back, perhaps I'll just stick to drinking.

Very good food, outstanding prices, good, stable and expeditious service. Went there prior to a concert at Trinity Church. My other half had very tasty chicken, I had the salmon. Both came exquisitely cooked and with the vegetables just done so, not too raw, not soggy. I'll recommend it thoroughly. Another surprise was the price. With four glasses of wine between two people, two salads, and two entrees, the bill came in at just under $50. Try that in any pretentious restaurant in DC and the bill will be at least double that.

When I lived in Philadelphia last year, this was the place my roommate and I always went if we needed a late dinner. Their kitchen is open until, like, 1am or something. The food is amazing -- we always got the sicilian chicken sandwich, which came with a great side salad -- and draped our legs out the open window and watched traffic pass until 2 in the morning.

I was there the Friday night after Thanksgiving, so I am assuming that is why it wasn't very busy. The bartender was great, she was friendly and attentive. I thought the drinks were reasonably priced for center city. The only negative was the food, yes it is inexpensive but it taste like the same thing you would get at a Appleby's or a Chilli's.

Never knew this place existed! Needed a place for Sips, and we came here by accident. Actually, my friend did. She thought she was at Rum Bar. Woops! Nevertheless, we had a table near the windows, and it was less packed than the Irish Pub and Rum Bar. Score! Sips specials were $2 Miller High Lifes and Yeungling Lager, $3 House Wine, $4 Sangria andRootbeer Floats, and half-price chips with salsa and hummus with pita. Not bad, but not great. Friend and I shared one of their specials of the night which were buffalo chicken quesadillas that came with two sides (we chose mac n cheese and steak fries). That meal was only $10, and we were both satisfied. Score! Service was okay. Our server just needed to know what a minute was. We weren't ready to order, yet she would continue to come to our table every 15 seconds. Was she trying to rush us? Hope not, since it wasn't crowded. Not a fan when servers try to rush service. I'd like to enjoy my meal, thank you very much! Note: There is only one bathroom (but clean!!) for this place, but I'm sure you could sneak into Irish Pub if you need to!

Walking around Rittenhouse hungry, my girl and I came across this random find on a Saturday afternoon. I was immediately drawn in by the open bay windows in the front, but just as disappointed when we got seated in the back with awkward little round tables and a wall couch. Thankfully we were able to move to a booth.. Service was discombobulated. We had two servers and the bartender at our service. Annoying. Now onto the food.. tomato bisque was not very bisque-y. Could have been MUCH smoother. The only reason I'd go back is for the maple sausage gravy NOM. The sausage and biscuits were deeeelicious. Get em and you'll be good til dinner. Between the two of us, we still had a 1/4 left. Oh, and prices were definitely a pleasant surprise for Rittenhouse.

This place is interesting...there is a bar inside that looks just like any other typical pub bar (with small tables that don't look very comfortable), yet there are large windows at the other end of the restaurant facing Walnut with nice seats inside and right outside creating a cool European cafe look. I believe this place is owned by Irish Pub since my receipt said Irish Pub on top but it definitely feels nothing like it. I've only been here for happy hour (albeit 3 times) and each time, I leave pretty satisfied. I know they have cheaaaaap wine for the $4 glasses from 5-7pm so I usually stick to the beer specials. All the food is $5 or less. The hummus platter is quite tasty (homemade roasted pepper hummus w/ pita bread & fresh celery sticks) and the burger sliders are decent with lots of cheese and caramelized onions. There is usually only 1 or 2 other parties hanging out so it's a nice quiet place to meet a friend for a couple drinks.

So, this place is kind of annoying. I live nearby, and they seem to have been randomly closed a lot in the past few months. Also, I went once a few weeks ago and they were serving the same menu as the connected Irish Pub (which, let's be honest, is fine if you're looking for a quick and basic meal, but is nothing special). Disappointing. I convinced a friend to give it one more shot tonight, and I'm really glad I did. He had the lasagna (one of the specials - also available next door), and it was tasty and quite a large portion. Not bad for $9. I was starving and decided to indulge, so ordered the filet sandwich ($15). It was delicious. While the steak was a little tougher than I'd like for filet, it was well prepared and tasty. The roll, cheese and onion straws were all great. There was a gigantic pile of pommes frites that I didn't come close to finishing. I left full and happy. Actually, I'm still full almost 5 hours later. The only real problem for me was how empty the restaurant was. We were the only ones there for half of our meal, when one other person came in (alone). This makes for fast service (and the service WAS good), but it kind of weirds me out. Also, I felt a little bad for the guy trying to read while he ate who no doubt was treated to a rather ridiculous conversation. We were there a little early, and I've seen it more crowded before, so maybe it was just an off time. I'll probably go back, and I'm looking forward to warmer weather when they open the windows and put out tables on the sidewalk.

Today we went back and I had the Philadelphian and the bf had the eggs baltimore. Both were meh and I could have probably made them at home. Correction, I can definitely make the eggs baltimore at home. Again, solid food across the street, but not gourmet.

If you're in the mood to go to some place that is quiet and the prices are inexpensive for a well-portioned meal ($17 or less for almost all dishes), this is the place to go. Service was excellent and the food was great. The restaurant is definately a business casual kind of place, although not required. If you wanted to go here for a date, it is definately 'fancy' enough. I highly recommend the steak salad. I dislike eating salads, but this one was delicious and a large enough portion that you could eat is as an entre. It had an excellent dressing and a mix of traditional and non-traditional roughage (seeds and cranberries). Quick Review: Relatively inexpensive, quiet, good portions, well lit, great menu, beer reasonably priced Food recommendation: The steak salad with the 5 oz. fillet minion, blue cheese, and bacon. Notes: There is a happy hour from 6-8 PM, M-F with half priced beers and discounted drinks.
