I love this place. A nice local restaurant for the Bustleton area. Their milk tea is delicious and cheap! Dim sum here is great! Great lunch deals and fast service!

If you are not in the Chinatown area and is looking for Chinese food in the Northeast Philly area, look no further, Ruby Garden is a great alternative from Chinatown for Dim Sum, lunch, and dinner. I came here for Dim Sum, Lunch, and during Dinner. I must say the food here is on par with what you would get from Chinatown. If you are here during lunch hours, I highly recommend getting the dry beef ho fun. Not only is it inexpensive, it's also very delicious. My only criticism is the small space and shortage of seating during the peak hours. Other than that, the food and service are great. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

If I were to pick a favorite Chinese restaurant in the Northeast, it would be Ruby Garden. I've dined in and gotten take-out here more times than I can remember. Chinese food can be really heavy and a lot of times, salty. I like their food because it's usually seasoned just right and not overly greasy. This isn't your typical Chinese fast food take-out (although you will find a lot of that on their menu). They offer an extensive menu that includes a lot of authentic Chinese dishes. My family orders a lot of the same dishes each time we dine in and we get exactly what we expect every single time. They're consistent and that's what keeps us coming back. Also worth mentioning, their portions are big, the prices are fair, and from my experience, the service is great. The only thing I don't care for is their dim sum. The selection is slim and they're always way overcrowded (even during the weekdays!)

Food is decent and the price is good! You get crazy amount of food for some dishes lol Not the best but it works

Good food, decent service. They have a good sized menu with many of the basic dishes. I dont eat here as often as I do next door, but the last time I was in we ordered 6-7 dishes to share family style and they were all very well done! I like the hot pot dishes a lot.

dont go for dimsum, i waited 15-20 mins for each dish. i also complained about the beef rice roll(check pictures) and she told me to eat it, its cooked and its good. ok dont tell me what to do. anyway youre better off going next door to jade harbor if you want dimsum in this area.

My aunt has been here a few times before and really recommended it so we came here on a late Sunday afternoon. Summary: + Big servings + Hot when it comes out + Not too much oil + Okay service + Crunchy noodles adults says is really good + Good price - Inconsistent There weren't many people there but they do have a lot of big tables so it is good for bigger groups. Some of the things we got here were MAYO/WALNUT SHRIMP, FRIED FISH in sweet and sour sauce, meat in sweet and sour sauce, some green dish, clams. My aunt and uncle was raving about some diced meat dish but when it came out, she took a look and immediately knew it was not done the same way. There was too much sauce and the meat was not fried enough. She did ask one of the ladies about it and the lady answered very politely that maybe it was a different chief. I know my aunt is going to be coming back here but I probably won't be without her.

No double door in this rest , come to here the early the better ! You can take the big round table inside the dinning room ( not by the door ) food came out good ! Price is very reasonable ! Service is good ! Bathroom is ok ! (Not super clean)

I've always drive pass a lot of restaurants in my area but never got the chance to actually try them. I decided it was time to give this place a try after seeing signs posted on the window that they serve Dim Sum daily. I'm more a Dim Sum person who goes to chinatown a lot during the weekends and sometimes during the weekdays every now and then. I like the idea that they give you a piece of paper that had printed choices to choose from to order your dim sum. Sometimes eating in chinatown can be a pain as some of the stuff you want gets all taken up because the dim sum ladies goes around but doesn't make it to your table quick enough before everything is gone. On the downside about this is that people who have not eaten Dim Sum before cannot see what their eating before choosing. So at this place you have to kind of know what you want in order to place the order. The service here was pretty good. The lady definitely welcomes those who doesn't understand Chinese as they can also help you out to choose what to eat if you have questions. I think of the two ladies there can some what speak English. Keep in mind that the dim sum choices here are very limited as they do not have everything like chinatown does but they do have the popular choices like shrimp dumpling, pork dumpling, beef tripe, pan fried turnip cake (Vietnamese call it bot chien), and chicken feet. There's a few more on the menu as well but those are what I know off the top of my head at the moment. Would I recommend this place to anyone? Of course and I would definitely come back here and dine as their prices are definitely reasonable. I like the fact that I can find parking relatively quicker than chinatown.

Three stars for a cheap and cheery authentic style Canto cooking for dim sum and lunch/dinners in the Northeast part of Philadelphia. Saves you the drive and time of going to Chinatown. Do's and don't of this place: DOs: 1. Have dim sum if you need a place in Northeast. But, there is a lot more choices in Chinatown. However, great if you don't feel like driving and you are in this area. 2. Have dinner here. Tasty and generous portions plus good service. 3. Have lunch here. The rice dishes are awfully cheap, tasty and generous. DON'Ts: 1. Be rude when they are busy. The staff here try as hard as they can but they are people too. If you have a request, ask and be patient (they are not slow, anyway). 2. NEVER EVER order the HK style wontons. Even someone's little five year old child can wrap better wontons. Plus, the filling is so pathetically scarce, you can say it is non-existent; so they try to give you like 16-20 little wontons - which equates to eating 16-20 little wonton wrappers with no filling. Even the wait staff looks apprehensive when you order it. Be forewarned.

Very sad! I have always liked this place until, everytime I tried to call takeout and they are out of this and that. what????? I never call in late so I don't understand they are always sold out of everything. There bubble tea, is disgusting! You can taste the powder, and the bubbles were so hard! NOT CHEWY AT ALL! The place is way to small and they try to cramp every seating possible. No!

Very good, fresh dim sum made to order (at least during lunch on weekdays) as opposed to the cart ( but you need to wait a few minutes) and great dry beef chow fun, and some I have no idea what that a table was eating and the waitress got for me too. The stuff the large groups at the round tables order looks great too - they take credit cards but don't advertise it - I am usually the only non Asian there! There is usually someone who speaks English but it's much more a Chinese restaurant for Chinese people then for Americans - they are unfailing friendly and helpful - don't get me wrong here. Service is as one would expect at a decent Chinese place and the tea is very nice. On one occasion they gave me a fork and when I asked for chop sticks I got the cheep carry out ones rather then the nice ones they gave everyone else - it's likely a shock to the waitress that I have been eating with chop sticks longer then she has been alive, but hey lets let others be generous with their stereotypes, I sure am! LOL the place puts a smile on my face - one time a huge family came in ~ 20 people, grandma to brats - they overflowed a huge round top so I tapped mid 50's female in charge on the arm and motioned to push my table onto the round table - took her a moment to get it but when I put my empty plate on the window sill it was clear and when I went out after going up to settle the bill the whole table gave me a shout out!

The place is on the small size but the food is cheap and good. I would avoid the smoothies and bubbles. You can taste the powder in the fruit smoothie and bubbles are hard. You have to look carefully when driving down the street you may pass it

This place is awesome for lunch. For just $5 you will get huge serving and usually I don't even able to finish a half of it. I guess I tried around 5 different dishes and I liked all of them. I heard dishes they serve are close to authentic Chinese food and I do believe if the place is famous among community that's a great sign.

I've been wanting to try their dim sum for quite awhile now , but since it's only available from 9am-3pm it's a little tough. We finally tried it and it was worth the wait . Good selection of dim sum, their are a lot of options , we went for the beef balls, Sui Mai and golden house fried rice . They gave us a lot of rice ! The place was packed. Their coffee bubble tea was ok. I've had better. Overall I will make this a regular place , can't wait to try the rest of the dim sum selection . I just wished they served it past 3pm. Service was ok , the food made up for it though .

I love this place. It's close to my house and I get fed for mad cheap. Huge servings so it's like 3 meals for a small Asian girl. (I usually get take out). The owners of this place is also really polite to my mom, which is fantastic.

I get take take out here a lot and sometimes the tastes are different, but it doesn't bother me. Their boba tea and fried chicken is really good too.

Another dim sum option in NE Philly? Tasty dim sum too... Double hooray!! Their standard dim sum is well prepared and pretty darn good. My usuals did not disappoint, we sampled: shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, sticky rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaves, steamed rice noodles filled with savory goodness (choice of shrimp, beef or vegetarian)... just to name a few. The restaurant is small, so depending on the day, there may be a wait. No parking lot, you will have to rely on street parking. So far, not a big deal and have parked no more than 1 block away. Many of the patrons appear to be neighbors who visit a pied. TIP: To fully enjoy dim sum, you have to bring a crew (so round up family and friends,...) and sample a variety of dishes.

The food at this place is good but inconsistent. I ordered here many times and many of the same dishes tasted different every time. Sometimes, it seemed like they forget to add salt. I have never gotten anything bad here but don't expect to get great food every time.

I went here for dinner with couple of my buddies, got seated right away, ordered our food, it came out in a timely fashion, food was good very convenient, but 2 stars off first of all when our dishes came out, no rice was served while the staff was literally standing right in front of us, we had to ask for it , it's a given to give rice with dinner or at least ask if we would like to have rice, secondly we asked for water...no show and 3rd but not last we were finished dinner and we were sitting around for like 20 minutes, before we finally decided to ask for the bill. Needs some improvement

I've been to this place quite a few times. Overall it's great for the price. The $5 lunch take outs are the best, since it's a ton of food that often lasts me 1.3-ish meals and it tastes pretty good. Their dim sum is pretty good quality for Philadelphia dim sum places (which is so say, it's actually pretty mediocre on the absolute scale of dim sum but hey it's cheap and local). They usually have about three to four times the customers as nearby Chinese places during meal times, so that says something about their food. It's generally much better than driving to Chinatown because their food is both cheaper and about the same in terms of quality. Two issues I have with the place that gives it three and not four stars: 1) One member of the waitstaff is quite... slow. Or as we say on the Internet, derpy. She's a nice lady, but she also isn't the most reliable when it comes to waitressing or taking orders. 2) Since local DirectTV stopped carrying Chinese channels this place has just defaulted to FOX on their TV, which plays DMZ during supper time. Every time I go there for dinner I can feel my brain cells slowly dying. (On that note: they do have bottled beer.) One final note: They have mostly very large tables and only a few tables for four. If you go during peak times with a small party be prepared to share a table.

Good food, good prices what more do you want?!?! Never had their dim sum though, gonna have to try that and update my review. There something I have never ordered at a chinese restaurant which is chicken wings. After seeing the table behind me getting their order of wings, I had to cause it looked that good, and it was very good! Try it! Happy Eatings!!

The food is okay. It is better than the competing dim sum restaurant next door. They actually have the dishes listed on the menu. It was a go-to dimsum place in Northeast Philadelphia. However, I found a staple in my beef rice noodle. I think I am just having bad luck with food at Asian restaurants.

My review is only for its Dim Sum. Thei Siu Mai got to be the best I ever have . Shrimp dumpling is very good also. Everything else taste sticky rice flour, which is really hard to eat. I do not think we will go back again, since only two items I would order.
