With few Filipino restaurants in the area, u really can't complain too much. Yeah decor is lacking but I'm here for food and the food is decent. However, if you're going to order any of the stews/soups, call ahead as they make it fresh to order and it can take 30 mins.

Authentic filipino food! I'm so glad we stopped in. The portions are big and cheap.

Yikes. This place is a mess. It's very small and has two rows of fast-food-style booths crammed very close together. Surrounding everything is clutter and junk. Let me list some of the things I saw: A suitcase A weed wacker A plastic Christmas Tree Patio furniture A rice cooker under a seat A model ship A flashlight A large, empty cardboard box Fake plants Real plants Many religious figurines and icons. When we tried to order, the waitress excused herself to see if they had what we ordered. They were out of beef. It was lunchtime on a Saturday. We then ordered chicken and sugar pork, which, after checking with the chef again, our waitress confirmed they could make. She then left the restaurant for a few minutes and returned with a bottle of water for one of us who had ordered water and a package with a picture of fried bananas on it. The pork was good. The chicken was three fried drumsticks served next to rice. Egg rolls and fried bananas were average. Fried bananas could really use a sauce besides the sweet and sour sauce served with the egg rolls. The people were nice. I don't know how this place stays open. Cramped, cluttered, and average food.

Like Dave B, I'm stuck between two and three stars -- after hearing about Philippine Jeepney Grill from a recent article in the news, we were very excited to come here. Sadly, I think what makes this place so attractive is that it's the only Filipino restaurant in the city. We opted for the "buffet sampler", which at $5.99 is a great way to try out a variety of dishes. I enjoyed the bicol express, which is a spicy pork and coconut green curry similar to the Thai version. Less impressive was the lechon paksiw, which was somewhat tough and brutally fatty; the sweetness of the dish also overpowered the minute vinegary taste in the meat. The kare kare, which I was looking forward to the most, was a big miss. It would have been incredibly bland had it not been for the serving of shrimp paste on the side, which we both used liberally. Most disappointing was the lumpia. We ordered the savoury kind for the table and for $5 we received eight finger-sized pieces that were very meh. I also ordered the dessert lumpia turon to go, and found it to be okay. I'm not sure if I've been spoiled by my friends' homemade lumpia, but both versions did not live up to our expectations. The redeeming quality about this place is the staff, who were incredibly friendly and kept checking on us to make sure we were enjoying the food. Hopefully on a return visit the food improves considerably.

I'm stuck between 2 or 3 stars. First, the staff was wonderful, super friendly so I will try to be kind with my review but I have to be honest. I hope that when I come back that the quality of a few dishes will improve. My friend and I tried this place out on a Sunday afternoon, we've heard about it and were so excited. I'm half Filipino so I know a few things or so about the culture and cuisine, including the language. After the last Filipino restaurant that closed in the Northeast, we couldn't wait to come here. We tried the "buffet" and ordered the Bicol Express, Lechon Paksiw and Kare Kare for $5.99 which is a really good price to taste 3 selections from the daily offerings. The Bicol Express was one of my favorite, it had a good flavor and just enough kick that I actually remembered eating this dish at a young age during our time in the Philippines. It was so good that I ordered some to go. The Lechon Paksiw was OK. It was so fatty that barely any pieces had enough actual meat to enjoy. I know it's supposed to be a fatty piece of meat most of the pieces served were fat with skin. There was not a good balance of meat and fat ratio, it was like eat a chewy, fatty pork with skin in a sweet, soy sauce based stew. The kare kare is one of my all time favorite Filipino dishes. They used pork neck bones which really limits the amount of meat in the dish. Usually, ox tail or beef chunks makes the dish a lot better. The dish lacked that "peanutty" taste and seasoning. It was almost bland that you really had to use the bagoong provided on the side to bring out the taste of the dish. Thank God, I love bagoong but w/o it the dish was absolutely tasteless. Of course, we ordered lumpia. What kind of a Filipino friend would I be if I didn't allow my friend to taste the goodness of a real Filipino lumpia? Let's just say I was embarrassed. It was the worst lumpia I have ever ordered and I have been to a lot of Filipino restaurant who's only goal is to mass produce them and to make a profit. I could not even tell you if it was ground pork, chicken or beef but I did see a hint of carrots in them. I'm not a chef and I don't run a restaurant but I can make a better lumpia than what was served to us for $4.50 or $4.99 for small 8 pieces. I do hope to return and maybe there will be a different selection that I could enjoy. I really did enjoy the staff, they were super friendly and I do suggest that you give this place a try because I'm sure they have a lot of other wonderful dishes. Maybe it was just a bad day. I'm not complaining about the buffet style either because we all know most traditional Filipino dishes cannot be made to order because the hours it takes for them to prepare and marinate.

This is a great spot for a quick plate of Filipino comfort food on a weekend. Eat-in or Take-out works. Open Sat & Sun only. 10am - 6pm, But they say they take catering orders anytime. It just opened a few months ago. Very friendly mom and pop restaurant that seems to be the only Filipino restaurant in the neighborhood at the time of this review. I'll be visiting again the next time I'm back in town.

I recently discovered Philippine jeepney grill and am soooo happy I did! Staff is very friendly and I loved the "home made" style of cooking so much I've been back 2 days in a row. So happy I've found a filipino restaurant in the northeast!
