This place is pretty cool. I always get an omelet and its always a hit or miss. But all around its great diner and pretty much the best around. I would really recommend this place if your looking for some where to relax and have a good bite

CLOSED for a few months now. I hear they had a fire last summer and then another a couple of months later. Hope someone reopens it but I haven't heard anything.

This is a neighborhood institution in Oak Lane, Philadelphia. It is an attractive old diner with a clean, bright interior. The food was carefully plated, and you get a lot of it. If only it tasted a little better. I had a Philly classic - a gutbusting hoagie with 3 kinds of coldcuts. Unfortunately the bread tasted like newspaper and the meat tasted like spoiled newspaper. A good percentage of this sandwich ended up being served to my neighborhood birds. The coffee was about average. I would give them another try though - it is probably a good place to get eggs with home fries or a burger.

This is hands down the best diner in Philly. The servers are amazingly sweet. Sometimes they may mess up your order but they are always quick to fix it and give you free cake. I have never gotten a meal here I didn't enjoy but the best thing they offer is the Tuna Melt. If you become a "regular" here, you will almost always get free cookies when you leave. This is a family owned diner, and they really remember you. My family has been coming here for years and we get treated like royalty every time!

This is a diner. Not in the 21st Century sense as a retro place, not a gastro diner where molecular fusion sends a tiny molecule of food that dislodges a great deal of money from your pocket, not a place where one goes to see and be seen. A diner. Some food is very good some is just ok all is at the very least edible. Some waitresses are sweet and nice some are brusk, and sometimes people have some externality that drives their mood - the wait person of 3 weeks ago can be much better or worse. It's the real world baby. There are very inexpensive choices to allow less pecunious folks to have a meal out, there are standards (super good breakfasts for example) and there are various offerings that serve the neighborhood with a good, clean, safe place with parking and ac. if you want a real diner staffed by real people rather then wanna be TV chef show wanna bees give Oak Lane a shot.

It's a frogged dinner in Oak Lane people. The food is pretty good. My mum got the French Onion soup, which was not to die for, but pretty good to say the least. Good enough for her to ask for an order for home. I had my usual--chicken fingers and fries. The chicken could have standee for more salt and pepper, but I put that on so it wasn't really a big deal. It's nothing I would crave for, although it is a nice place to go to if you want to catch up with friends or are looking for an inexpensive night out.

This one doesn't cut it. It's been there forever and really should be much better. To start, the bathrooms were really gross. Ordered an egg white omelet with spinach and cheese. The spinach was nasty and the cheese was even worse. Grits were about the only thing that came out ok. Nothing was fresh. My wife found the coffee to be pretty lousy. I guess I expected something different from an established place. It really is a shame.

The waitress got our order wrong. The food had no taste. The broccoli in my omelette was cold. The place smelled. I couldn't even eat anything

Boy, where do I start, the Oak lane diner has been a part of Philly for seemingly forever. It is a grand, stainless steel homage to the dinerr era and when your driving into Philly on your way from Jenkintown, the clock on top of the Oak Lane Diner is one of the first things you see. I usually stop here for breakfast, the eggs, omelets, pancakes and coffee are all good here and the menu is huge. They serve lunch and dinner and they bake their own desserts on the premises. There's a parking lot and if they had a more friendlier wait staff, I woulda been all the way in.

I've lived in Philly about a year now and pass this diner almost daily. My husband and I were eating a late dinner so we decided on this diner at 10pm. I ordered Seafood Marinara: pretty darn good for a diner at 10pm. I was pleased. My Husband wasn't so satisfied with his steak breakfast. He complained the steak was too greasy, but agreed my food was good. He was a fan of his strawberry milkshake. Overall, we were pleased.

Um, who put that this place is located in Rittenhouse Square? Doesn't anyone know where Olney is? Anywho, this is another place I enjoy thanks to dear old dad. I mean, he's 76. He knows his stuff. I love diners. More importantly, I love diners with cute old people and waitresses who call me "honey". I grew up not far from the Oak Lane and have seen it change over the years. It still primarily serves the post Baptist church crowd on Sunday's, so I would not recommend going then. It's a nice place to hole up in a booth with some coffee and a book. You can people watch and contemplate life or order a heart-stopping meal. Your choice.

I had been to the Oak Lane Diner before and had their strawberry cheesecake pancakes. Not the best, but I've had better and they were kind of overpriced, but oh well. So, when a friend suggested we go there again, I said why not. After not being able to get a seat at a table, even though several were clear, the greeter suggested we go to the counter, so we did. After waiting about 5 minutes for our order to come, a waitress finally came. I ordered a simple breakfast, two eggs, two slices of beef bacon, a side of beef scrapple, and two pancakes. The waitress was sure they offered beef bacon, but then, no they didn't offer beef bacon, but turkey bacon was available, so I took the turkey bacon. When our food came out 15 minutes later, I looked at thick slice of "beef scrapple", I noticed that is just looked odd and very mushy. I taste a bit on my tongue, it wasn't BEEF scrapple, it was PORK! After I brought this to the attention of waitress, she took the scrapple back and said "...you were right". No apologies, no offer to take it off the bill or anything. I don't eat pork so I was kind of offended and upset, how could someone make such a bad mistake and then even worse, not even apologize for it. You can do better, go some place else.
