First time here, the staff was friendly, the service was good, the food was o. K. Unfortunately my version of oxtail, cabbage, & peas, rice are better. When we got to this place I already new what I want. Sadly they were out of almost all the sides. So, thanks for the experience but we won't be back.

The worst African food I've ever had. I ordered Jollof rice with beef. The rice was dry and in chunks as if they scrapped it from the bottom of the pan. The beef was ok but because of the rice being so poor, the dish was terrible. My wife ordered the Casava Leaf Soup and she hated it. She's East African and eats cavasa leaf and potato greens all the time from multiple places.

I had some last night the food was definitely good and well seasoned but the time it took was almost 45mins-1hr. With no more than 2 people in the restaurant that had pre-ordered their food and still had a 20min wait. The place seemed very understaffed and no communication between them other then chatting about their personal lives. One of the woman even neglected new walk ins and walked around on her cell phone. It was a very unprofessional environment nothing even remotely like Rons that have multiple customers and your in and out. They were very nice folks despite the delays and unprofessionalism. I probably would go back only if I had nothing to do for hours and was really craving Caribbean and/or African food but didn't want to drive a distance to get it.

There food is over priced and not good... The restaurant has an unpleasant smell to it which I'm not to happy with. I'm not sayin people can't speak in their native language, but when you have customers you shouldn't stand in their face and talk. It's just plain old rude. Try to kind of avoid this restaurant and find a different one. :)

I rarely give out one star reviews but Naana Xtra has earned it. Here are the issues that we had while we were there: 1) 3 of the dishes on the menu were not available for purchase 2) There was only 2 other tables and we waited 45 minutes for our food. 3) Glasses of water were not provided and when we asked for water, we were told that bottled water was available for purchase. 4) The food dishes varied from poor to horrible. 5) The tables needed to be cleaned. 6) Slow attention from the staff 7) The kabob had more spice than vegetables and meat. 8) The plaintains were bland. 9) The rice was very dry. I would advise that you go elsewhere for your meals. Hopefully new management will come in.

SO glad I used my GrubHub coupon on Naana Xtra O Restaurant. I did not like it AT ALL! After placing my order on Grubhub, they did call immediately to say that they didn't have the curry goat or coco bread I ordered -.- So I just got curry chicken & a beef patty. I should have said oxtails, I'm so tired of chicken, but they probably wouldn't have had that either lol. The beef patty was great! LOL! You can't screw that up. The rice & beans were ok. I didn't enjoy the cabbage either; was closer to raw than to cooked. The curry chicken was barely flavored / bland / & a bit dry. I then thought, maybe they didn't have curry chicken either & gave me stewed chicken?! Who knows... Maybe they had an off day? Maybe they just didn't have time to prepare due to the storm?! **shrugs** I'd rather them refund my money then to send sub-par food; Thus equating to a bad review. I'm just glad I didn't spend any actual money on it...

I was jonesing for some Caribbean food and my usual place "Royals" in West Oak Lane was just too far away. I found out about Naana Xtra O online (BTW, what is UP with the name of this place?) and decided to give it a try, mainly because they delivered. i called and ordered 3 small platters (relax! they weren't all for me), two curry chicken platters and one stewed chicken platter. The food was delivered and was pretty decent, it was hot and well seasoned. I couldve used a bigger portion for what i was charged but hey, you live and learn. Its something I would order again, but only IF i didn't feel like going to my usual spot. Why the 3 stars you ask? Well I 'll tell you. First of all... the website boasts that small platters are 5 bucks and come with my choice of white rice or rice and peas and cabbage and plantains. When my food arrived i was charged 6 dollars per platter and the plantains were nowhere to be found. I actually LIKE plantains so I was really disappointed that I didn't have any. In addition, I was told my food would arrive in about forty five minutes. I assume they don't cook it as its ordered, but maybe they do because my food didn't come for over an hour and fifteen minutes. (perhaps the delivery person got lost?) I also was not given a menu. It seems pretty standard in the restaurant business, to include a menu with a delivery, especially if you want repeat business. I'm not sure if all of this is because this place is the new kid on the block or what, but if i want to order again, I'll have to log on and find their number which is a HUGE pain. SIGH.

The food here is great! I love how personable the owner is and how invested she is in her food. YOu can feel the love in her food when you eat it. I love the Jerk chicken and her fried rice and salad.....I don't know what type of salad dressing she uses but it is delicious.....I've tried her plaintains their so delicious! She is catering several dishes at my husband's graduation party. The Kabobs are awesome! When my twin sister comes in town it is the first stop she wants when we come in town. You also have to try her Waakye, shitto and stew....Her grilled fish is well seasoned. Like the above person said her food is well seasoned. 6.00 for a platter with delivery is really cheap... We drive 30 minutes to her restaurant and 30 minutes back home for the food. It's definately worth it! I know the number by heart 215-613-5224! Just save it in your phone. She gives big portions when we go inside. Naana is her name and Xtra O..means xtraordinary food. Ghana is definately known for its tasty spicy African cuisines and there are not a lot of restaurants in Philly with Ghanian chefs. You have to try the fried rice and jerk chicken...it will make you lick your fingers and the plate......dag I wish I could have them deliver to us right now!!! GO and check it out for yourself!!!!
