This place started out okay and had pretty good drinks. The Moscow mule was awesome. They have no idea how to control crowds and were very rude. The bartender tired to rip people off too when it got too crowded and overprice drinks that I knew the price of. After I called him out he gave me free drinks because I threatened to report him to management. This may be a great place for underage frat parties but I will not be back. They need to properly learn how to run a bar.

I have had two of their specialty drinks. They're about 7 bucks, but fancy enough of a place to be worth it. Temple Tea: mine was horrible. it had too much of the grenadine syrup. my tablemates also got it, and theirs was better. so i guess be more consistent? The other drink i got was a pineapple punch something??? it was delicious! But I may be a bit biased because i love pineapples! For entree I got the black bean burger, to which i specified i wanted lettuce and tomatoes with, the waitress says "i am sure it has it in it" doesnt write it down, and my burger comes with nothing besides bread. on their website it says it should have a spicy ketchup..and nope! Cons: The women's bathrooms. There is two inches of space between the toilet seat and the door. Sounds strange right? They said they plan to fix it soon. 2. Kinda loud for a mid afternoon dinner. Like 4 pm and the music is blasting. who likes that! .... I've also been there at night,. once I was sitting at the bar when our group decided to migrate outside. The hostess blocks us saying we need to order food if we want to sit outside. we go back to the bar, and the bartender gets the owner (we didn't ask her to!) who says we can sit outside. awkwarddddd. In conclusion: Get Yo Shitz togetherr!

Boyfriend and I stopped by because we had just caught a movie at the Pearl and wanted a beverage. Music was great, cheese fries were great (made from hand cut potatoes and a béchamel and NOT a can of cheese salt...), beers were on par and the service was phenomenal!!! We aren't from the area, unfortunately, otherwise we would come here often! Everyone was so friendly, knowledgable and respectful. It seems like the movie theater might bring us down here again, simply because of this bar! EDIT: Whalen just made me a cocktail based on the following directions "I like tequila, I don't like sweet, and I love spicy" and then he made me a cocktail sent from the tequila gods. :)

Finally Temple University has a modernized Gastropub that has it all! The Service: 5/5 I went in the winding end of the summer which made much more sense to go around then considering school was not in session yet therefore the service was more responsive and exceptional. However I do not know if that quality of service will change when the academic year begins. The Food:5/5 The food is absolutely phenomenal from the appetizers to the entrees. The Master's garlic parmesan chicken wings showed a great balance and something different to just plain old hot wings or bbq wings. It contained a great texture with a nice and crispy skin without drying out the meat. The Shanghai Calamari I found to be a little generous with the sauces which I thought took away from the actual taste of the seafood. The cheesesteak eggrolls were absolutely incredible. Finally a cheesesteak eggroll with a paper thin wrapper. The only issue I had with it is that I wanted to order more. The Atmosphere: 4/5 For starters it is bar on a college campus, of course it's going to be loud. Especially in the city of Philadelphia. Draught horse, Maxis, any other bar in that location is going to be loud. Just imagine when the Temple basketball games are on. However I do like that this restaurant has given Temple university one large closer step to finer dining and definitely what the North Philadelphia region needs.

We'd have gotten the promotional PBR if the bartender ever checked on instead of chatting up her obvious friends , there was an 8th grade prom with screaming girls & loud lil jon music . I'm not sure what type of atmosphere they are going for but it's nothing I'm interested in.

I've been there a few times for their shrimp tacos which are really good but they only give you 2 for almost $11. I would give this place more stars but they serve the most watered down drinks on the planet. Anytime you go somewhere and order 2 Long Islands and your still standing straight there is something wrong with that picture. If you do decide to go there opt for the beer. But in all honesty this place is completely overpriced for its location. Proceed with caution

This place is ridiculous. They did not let my friend enter the establishment despite the fact that she is well over 21. The reason they did not let her in is because she had a Maine license because she is from Maine. We asked to see the manager and we called the establishment multiple times and we received no response. I will not return to Masters after this unfair treatment of my legal friend.

The food we got at masters was pretty pathetic. It was poor quality and tasted subpar at best. Also, the kitchen was out of several menu items, and even worse was we weren't informed of this until we were ready to order (our group spent 10-15 minutes deciding what to order) We ordered the following: Fried pickles- the batter was soggy and disgusting and the dipping sauce that was served with it was just as bad Margheritta Flatbread- literally just tasteless and burnt flat bread with canned tomato sauce and some melted cheese on top. I could make it in my toaster oven at home better. We sent the pizza back and they didn't even bother to take it off the bill. Gouda Mac and Cheese- taste was good but the noodles were completely undercooked and hard and the panko crumbs were just poured on top Also, the ketchup we were given for our fries was either completely watered down Heinz or refilled with some strange and disgusting liquidy alternative. it's just sad that a restaurant can mess up ketchup.... I will post a picture of this. The service was decent in all fairness and our waitress was very nice but I wouldn't ever consider coming here to eat again. If I could give it no stars instead of one I would.

The staff was extremely attentive and my order came out at a reasonable time. The food was alright; not much to it. Okay burgers and apps. Decent selection of brews and drinks. Plenty of TVs on the wall and the staff are cool about switching it to whatever sporting event you may be interested in.

My girlfriend and I stopped in to this place after having a less than desirable experience next door. We had an hour before our movie began around the corner so we just wanted a drink or two. We were very impressed with the atmosphere that we walked into, and ordered a beer on special. They had some Jalepeno cheese fries which we ordered. They actually hand make the cheese and pickle the peppers in house. It was all delicious! As we were eating we met the owner. Whalen. He was so friendly and made us some great mixed Long Island ice teas. Really enjoyed our time, right up until the time we had to leave to make our movie! We will be back!

This is the 2nd time I've been to Masters in the span of a few months. First time was great, tad bit overcrowded, but still fun, great atmosphere! This time was also good, though not as crowded tonight. If you wanna have a good time where there is a good balance of contemporary bar scene downstairs and a more nightclub dance feel upstairs, this place seems to be the place for young adults to have a good time, especially after a stressful college week! At first though, the problem was I couldnt find it because its kind of hidden, but I'm really glad I go there and will probably be a regular! The reason I'm not giving full star rating is for my 2nd visit there. It started off fine when I got in; there was a 2 dollar cover but the guy at the coat rack said I could go up for free, which was cool, but I gave him 2 dollars anyway. So he gave me a ticket for upstairs and said just make sure I show the ticket to get a stamp later because he didn't have the stamp thing on him. This is where the problem came in: I went back down, showed my ticket, and there was a girl, who most likely went to Temple, now at the coat rack. The unwarranted attitude that I received was astonishing. I was trying to be informed of what I needed to do and she just really snippy with me and my friends that were new to the bar. I feel like she just wanted something to start up so she could get the bouncers to throw us out, but I kept my cool. That was my only problem, other than that, great experience and I'd come back!

Went to master's for the second time the other night and my friend and I had a great experience! The half price wings (Wednesday nights) were awesome and they had a good selection of seasonal drafts. The upstairs lounge looks like it could be a cool place to hang out if it was crowded downstairs. I've sat at the bar both times, but was easily able to get a drink and the bartenders were super friendly and helpful! We'll definitely be back!

This place has what Draught Horse doesn't - decent food. The panko-friend chicken fingers are great, as are the big ol' juicy burgers. It's a little pricey, but the best place to eat out in our neighborhood (TempleTown is notoriously lacking in the restaurant department.) That being said, Masters is good by virtue of the fact there's not a whole lot of anything else around. But the drinks will kill you. $8 minimum for cocktails? $6 shots? $4 beers? This is a college bar. College kids are broke. Adjust prices accordingly. Draught Horse has the upper hand here. Business seems to be picking up, but was painfully slow for a while there. It wasn't uncommon to be the only one sitting at the bar, or the only one in the restaurant, for that matter. The location is a bit off the beaten path, so I'm sure that has something to do with it - but maybe they should jack up their marketing to jack up their crowds. Hopefully they stick around though, I'll definitely keep going back.

Unless you go to temple, theres no reason to go. Not that you should be wandering around north philly to begin with... Its fun on thursdays, and quizzo and tacos on tuesdays. I would like a dollar draft day.

Hands down the best bar on Temple's campus. And their burgers are the best too. Thursday's are the night to be here there's a cool bar downstairs with an outdoor patio. The upstairs is clublike with a really good Dj and great drink specials.

Stumbled upon this nice establishment as I was walking around Temple's campus. Clean place, friendly staff, and amazing food is how I would sum up my visit. Nice place to enjoy good food and watch my Birds play. Will definitely be a regular at Masters whenever the Eagles are on TV. I had the Gouda Mac & Cheese followed by the turkey burger which is served on a brioche bun with a "Mac Sauce" which is their version of McDonald's "Mac Sauce." Literally to die for. Check it out, highly recommended.

My favorite spot to drink after an awful grad class! The food is so fabulous and the bartenders are super quick for being 2 or 3 deep at the bar....love this place!!!
