Love it! My office orders Vietnamese hoagies from here often. The tofu hoagies are only $3 and I think they are better than both Fu-wah and the place that is a few blocks east on Washington. I've also dined in a few times. They have really good noodle dishes, that come in a glass pie plate! There are tons of spicy sauces on the table to use as well. I would also recommend the jack fruit juice, which is superb. Lastly, the service is good. They will also allow you to split the check when you pay at the register.

It's been a very long time but this was a first time since I was 16 years old that I attended a wedding reception here. The place as I remembered was much bigger but I guess the partition wall made the place look smaller and outdated. Bathroom was clean and the wait staff was nice. The food here was better then I expected. The usual asian wedding food. Jelly fish platter with a surprise. Lol. Steam tiny octopus... Very different but good. Birdsnest was very big, full and good. Salt baked shrimp was good too. Larger then the regular size. Quail was cooked in a roast pork marinade and that was exceptionally done. Very good. Lobster was big and delicious. We did have a big steam fish with soy and ginger sauce. I did not try this but it looked bigger then most fish and delicious looking. I do have to point out that the venue supplied two 2 liter sodas at each table. Each table had 10 seats so the sodas went quick. They also served water. Lol. But never the less we ran out of soda and a friend ask for another bottle of coke. The young male waiter said each table is only allowed 2 per table. Second time around I personally asked a young female waitress for a bottle of cook and told her "I will pay for it." She brings it to us no charge but I tipped her $10. Tip is usually not required by guest of weddings and handled by bridal party. This case was different. I believe in tipping well. It comes back to you. The next waiter I got, I asked for a glass of ice water. He brings me a blue glass of ice water and I tipped him $10. The rest of the glasses at the party were already situated at the tables and were clear. I love great service. Thanks for spoiling me, I work hard and love hard workers as myself.

I'm pretty sure only the first 2 reviews for this place are reviewing the right place, because if you had a wedding reception here I would be super sad for you. My roommate and I stumbled upon this gem the other day on our way to do groceries. I've been to this shopping center a billion ( may be an exaggeration, check ins probably indicate more like 30) times, but a few weeks ago something wonderful happened. We walked in and to our left, amidst the plants and video equipment and random Asian knick knacks, they were selling dim sum. My roommate and I turned to each other and nodded silently, then started excitedly picking out our breakfast, fighting over what we should get. We ended up with the fried squid and the dumplings. We handed the lady $5. We got super excited. We inhaled them immediately. They were legit. I mean extremely greasy and bad for you, but that's legit for dim sum. Definitely ask for the spicy sauce and definitely grab some napkins. Then we did our groceries. We found out they do this every Saturday and Sunday morning. This is extremely good/bad news. The next morning we came back for spring rolls and pork buns. The lady goes " you were here yesterday weren't you? " I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Don't let the questionable sanitary upkeep of the Asian shopping plaza dissuade you from visiting Hai Tien. However, caveat emptor buying produce at the adjacent supermarket. Two expansive entrances invite you to enter beneath the bright yellow sign. But the doors are locked, and, even if they weren't, chairs and tables and random stuff block ingress. So it's in through the automatic doors, down the flourescent lighted and linoleum sheathed corridor. This sounds rather questionable, and you haven't heard the half of it! Peaking through the doors you'll find an empty restaurant, or its trappings, and an audio equipment and plant store all in one. I haven't seen any attempt to operate the place as a sit-in restaurant, and I admit such an attempt seems capable of doubtful success. But maybe I just haven't caught it on the right times. But there's no need to go inside, unless you want to pick up some seasonal plants/herbs or bollywood-esque dvds. On weekends, the servers set up shop out in the corridor, offering a spread of traditional Chinese dim sum and Vietnamese treats. It's a great place to drop by for a cheap snack. And, the supermarket does sell ice pops in flavors like sweet green bean, so, all the more reason to stop by. Sellers hawk their dim sum like it's going out of style, bargaining with you to take 2 containers of dumplings for a buck off, simultaneously accepting tender in one palm and dispensing take-out boxes in the other. It's a sight to see, and the food delivers "that china town taste without those chinatown prices." The dumplings taste like they've just been prepared, and are homemade like the hamburgers in the Eddie Murphy joke. The greens are still crunchy, the pork roughly diced, subtle, underwhelming brushes of shrimp round it out. They're steamed and the skin is silken and light. I admit sometimes they're a little "too" fresh, but that's expected with the gestalt. Just pour on that strong, pungent soy sauce! The tripe here is so good! It's served no frills with fresh scallions, chili sauce on the side. So the emphasis is on texture not taste, each piece chewy, frilly, funky. Can't ask for much better. The place sells plenty more kinds of snacks - bring a friend, soak in the ambience, and share!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly.
