Come and support this joint had the Italian cheesesteak for 6.99 and it was very good and I'm from South Philly so cheesesteaks are pretty much in my league. Better menu choices than the iHop that was once here before. Give it a shot

The food was great but it's defiantly not an upscale restaurant. You can tell its family ran an a little unorganized. The waitress was very kind an attentive. Me an the hubby ordered breakfast and the kids had spaghetti. Although our plates where ok the spaghetti didn't have enough sauce. All in all I would go back, I just know NOT to order the spaghetti next time.

Typical diner food. The omelette are very good and the portions are large. The best part about this place is the service - everyone is very friendly. Anything extra that we wanted or needed, they happily provided. Our server even checked on a special that they no longer offered to see if the kitchen could make something similar. Very friendly place!

It is a little difficult being 100% fair to Flap Jack - being a breakfast oriented diner every review here has to be a bit schizophrenic, as it is not all they offer, but is what they specialize in. Were I judging only their breakfast offerings I would give Flap Jack four stars, but the dinner options seem to be so poor that I have to give three stars to be honest - and a bit generous. Good restaurants should not serve ANY bad food, and I'm afraid some of the food here just does not measure up to what you could make for yourself at home, or even get from the frozen section of your supermarket. We tried this place late on a weeknight (they're open until 10pm) and we were the only ones in the place. Admittedly, the only reason to come specifically here at night would be to enjoy breakfast items at a later hour, but unlike my guest I was in the mood for dinner, so I decided to sample what they offered. On the positive side, my guest enjoyed the large veggie omelet he had. It came with 3 flapjacks which I sampled and will admit were very good, and the bottle of heated syrup was a nice touch. Our server was a very pleasant young man who refilled our drinks without being asked, and when he had to inform me they were out of onion rings for the evening he was appropriately apologetic. Unfortunately, I ordered a sandwich, and it seems they aren't really on top of their recipes from the dinner menu. What was supposed to be a "Super Turkey Swiss Melt" turned out to merely be two slices of press-toasted sourdough bread, with thick, dry pieces of turkey, and two slices of not-really-melted-at-all Swiss - all served barely warmer than room temperature. I got the sense that something was definitely missing, and while I did not get a chance to double check the menu it seemed as if the cook just winged it without knowing the recipe at all. I don't want to scare people away from this place, but I don't want others to be as disappointed with their food as I was. This was one seriously dull, flavorless sandwich. It just doesn't make much sense to pay someone to cook badly for you, so absolutely stick with the breakfast portion of their menu, as this place does not seem to take their role as a full menu restaurant seriously yet - certainly not up to the standard of an IHOP or Denny's. Nice try, Flap Jack, but please only offer menu items you would eat yourself!

Went here at 7am after leaving a party and just really wanted eggs and some Fluffy pancakes. I thought IHOP was still here and clearly I have been out the city far too long because I missed that memo. Didn't feel like driving around the world at 7am so I settled for here. Any hoot..... My omelette was good but the Crepes were disgusting. I can taste that they use some type of oil spray from a can and the texture of the crepes was too thick. It taste stale and just not consistent with how succulent Crepes suppose to taste. The place looks run down and our table was dirty but no one was in there?!?! Ooook. Looks gloomy and needs a total make over. If I was not tipsy and tired, I would have clearly waited for breakfast and brunch somewhere else. I won't be back!

Ever since this Flap Jack Family Restaurant opened, my husband and I have expressed an interest in going. We finally made that happen a few days ago. The restaurant seating area looks just like the IHOP that used to occupy this space. However, the booths are now a crazy bright orange. If you visited when this was IHOP, you'd probably agree that the place needed to be brightened up a bit....but orange.. not a decision that I would have made. However, the restaurant was clean and was about halfway filled with seemingly happy customers, busily chatting and chewing. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive throughout our visit. I would have appreciated if she had checked on us a little more but she was overall friendly so I guess that's what matters. I ordered the Veggie Omelette with no mushrooms which comes with a side of pancakes. I subbed out the plain pancakes for Whole Grain Nut cakes. They have walnuts and were received quite well by my taste buds. They also serve the syrup piping hot. The Veggie Omelette was good/standard but the pancakes (which I really came here for) were exceptional! These were, indeed, the best part of my visit. My husband got a combo of pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. Just writing this is making me want breakfast food!! My husband, a hefty eater, was quite pleased with the quality and quantity of his meal. I later ordered a cup of hot tea. When I went to sweeten it, I noticed that the sweeteners were all knock-off brands of sugar, Splenda, NutraSweet and Equal. Why cut corners on the sugar?? I've never heard of such. I laughed it off but it made me wonder, if you're cutting corners on the sweetener, what other corners are being cut in the kitchen. I tried not to be so serious and ruin what turned out to be a pretty decent breakfast. Afterall, I had a few Stevia packets in my purse and used those to sweeten my tea. Prices here are comparable to IHOP, but the food was actually better. Since we live so close, we'll most likely return soon.

Not quite an ihop.... First time I went it was for dinner. As with an IHOP this type of restaurant is more geared for breakfast than dinner. They do offer dinner specials though (see picture). Food was comparable to a frozen diner. The second time I went it was for breakfast. MUCH better. I ordered the chocolate, banana and strawberry crepes which were awesome! Best part of this place is the great prices! In general though, the decor is shoddy and old and you can feel every movement the person in the booth behind you makes. I will go again for breakfast but prob not for dinner unless no other options exist!

Ok, I feel bad saying this because the server was so nice, but I ate here on New Year's Eve 2012 and it was among the worst meals of my life. I ordered biscuits and gravy and the dishes were dirty and the food came out after about 30 minutes and was totally inedible. The biscuits tasted cold and stale, as if they had come out of a can about ten years ago. The gravy tasted like it came out of a plastic bag only slightly more recently. I may or may not have found a hair in my food too. The workers there were really nice, but seriously, the food sucked.

Was craving a waffle, ordered the banana nut, it had no nuts. The place seems like it was in better condition when it was IHOP. I do thank the waitress for telling me that each ingredient I wanted to add to my home fries was $1.00 (onions, peppers, cheese) so I did not get them. Why isn't there a Waffle House near here?!?!?

I came here a few months ago with a friend after an all night pub crawl. I ordered the steak omelette and must say I enjoyed it more than IHOP's. No pancake batter in it. Well, I decided to come in today for a late breakfast and I'm not impressed. I'm not sure if it was the booze, the time of day, or maybe a different chef that day, but my omelette is subpar today. The steak is tough and bland, there's a pound of cheese on my plate, and there's small chunks of ham mixed in. What if I didn't eat pork? Disappointed. The highlight is my pleasant and courteous server. They always have friendly staff here. The next time I stop by I'll see if the dinner menu is any better.

I was a little wary of this restaurant when they made the switch from "IHOP" to "Flap Jack" because it seemed like they had decided to remedy IHOP's sub-par service and less than mediocre food with an unconvincing face-lift. I'm thrilled I was wrong. My boyfriend and I were ravenous and were frustrated at the wait times at most of the other City Line Ave restaurants on this Saturday evening. We pulled hopefully into Flap Jack's parking lot, and I assumed they were closed because there was a single van in the parking lot, and seemingly no one inside. The manager spotted us peering curiously inside, and beckoned us to come in. I was raised to walk away from any restaurant without patrons, but my hunger headache could've cared less that we were the ONLY ones there. The manager was very pleasant, answered all of our questions about the menu (Is this a family-owned business or a franchise? Its a franchise. Can I add spinach to my omelette? Of course. Can I have French Toast instead of pancakes as a side? There is a surcharge for that substitute, is that okay? Etc...). After inhaling our food (Sweet tea, Western Omelette, Flap Jack Favorite Omelette with Spinach added, French Toast, Pancakes, turkey sausage, and French fries), we had NO complaints, and owed them a mere 30 bucks. I'm hoping more people take a chance on an unfamiliar establishment. You will be pleasantly surprised :-)
