I'm kind of surprised it took me so long to officially hit up this place. I've been dropping my magazine off here for close to a year, but when you have over two stacks of product strapped to your back you rarely find the time to stop on in I suppose. But Anthony, his friend, and I were craving caffeine after we hit up Joy Tsin Lau (check out my review.) so I suggested here and I'm glad I did. This coffee house definitely deserves a lot more attention! plenty of comfortable tables, free wi-fi, plenty of good books to read, and incredible service. They even have a backyard courtyard that is perfect for sitting at once the weather is nice. Colin is right about the $2 dollar regular coffee being pretty high. but with so many good varieties I don't know why you would choose it. between our table we had a toasted marshmallow mocha, a Bavarian chocolate, and a white chocolate drink. they had specials like smores in a cup, steamed cider, and all kinds of cappuccino/espresso/etc. Another cool decoration touch they had that stood out was various clocks that listed different times throughout the world - from Philadelphia to Mexico City and beyond. be sure to hit here before you travel so you can time adjust over a good beverage.

I wandered into Cafe Mocha today, as I was actually on my way to the Good Karma location on 9th & Pine. I should have kept walking. My large cafe mocha w/sugar free mint syrup arrived lukewarm at best. It was like drinking slightly warm mint hot chocolate with some coffee in it. I was not impressed. I wanted to chill in a cafe to do work on my laptop. I had to ask for the network password. Kind of a hassle to me, as I like it when the network is open as soon as you power on; or the password should have been posted at the counter somewhere. The barista was very nice though. I should have noticed the subtle sign--that it was 4pm and no one else was inside there on a rainy afternoon. Guess that will be my first & last visit.

This place makes the list for sketchiest bathrooms of all time. You gots to go down these stairs into this basement storage area, then walk through a dimly lit, unfurnished room full of random junk, then open this little door to the bathroom which has a very low ceiling (I couldn't even pee standing up). Bizarre and kinda creepy. Wouldn't want to go down there alone were I a member of the fairer sex. The coffee is just ok. They do have cozy seats and tables, and the barista was friendly, so it wasn't a total loss. But man, that bathroom. Sketchytown.

I agree with you, Bill M., Café Mocha deserves way more kudos than it's currently getting! I entered in search of a place to escape the snowfall and get some work done, and I have to say I found my match. Comfy chairs, cool red lights, awesome artwork, and great drinks--it's as if you're hanging out in a college dorm lounge complete with its own coffee bar! Moreover, the barista was friendly and made conversation with me, so I was pleased.

Great for free wifi A touch on the pricey side Good chicken salad Cafe Mocha is a great location if you're trying to get any sort of work accomplished. There's a ton of seating, it's never crowded and the wifi is free all day. It's mostly table seating, there's only a few 'comfy' chairs, so the book clubs and discussion groups tend to stay away. You can't see it from the street, but there's a really delightful back patio with a few tables and chairs, a really nice place to get away from the street but still be outside. The downside of the place is it's sort of pricey, especially for regular coffee. I'm a big fan of the home made soups (vegetable) and sandwiches (chicken salad.) It's kind of a small thing, but I love getting bagels here because they actually spread the cream cheese for you instead of handing you some despicable little plastic packet.

One day late last week the weather was really nice so I got a little wild and decided to get off my train a stop early. This led me, regretfully, to Cafe Mocha. Sure, the iced coffee had a decent taste but it came out to $3.50, which is a bit too much to be charging. As for the decor, it reminded me of an upscale Third World internet cafe. Like, literally, it seemed as if I had walked into a cafe in Zamalek (a middle class enclave in Cairo). That's actually a compliment, not a dig. I'd give an extra star for that but I don't want to give the false impression that I plan to return here.

This place should be great, but it is ruined by its horribly overpriced-ness. Coffee is two dollars in house or to-go, and so is tea, no matter what size. Refills are 1.75!!! Insane! Other than their phone with their terrible Beethoven ringtone going unanswered, this place would be a great study spot with roomy, non-wobbly tables and quiet music. I really really wish they would just make it college student affordable!

I finally visited here the other day to pick up some coffee. The place has a nice warm feel to it with two different sections and the serving area. Yes they do have the different time zone clocks, which is a little odd, but I"m not going to kvetch over something as trivial as that. I got a large Cafe Mocha and a cookie since they wouldn't take debit/credit cards for orders under 5 bucks. Someone needs to challenge the monopoly that is the two major credit cards. The barista/serving woman was really nice. She offered whipped cream even without me having to ask. She was wearing a bright red raincoat that was pretty stylish and somewhat out of place. At least until I realized that she was wearing it over what appeared to be a pretty shear dress/slip. Anyways the coffee had some good flavor and a nice kick to it. The cookies took me forever to work through, they were so big. The store seemed to have wireless, because i saw a Linksys router there and there were people pecking away at laptops. I'll have to come back another time and actually chill out there.

Even though it has been around for a year, this "international" coffee house seems to get little attention. Should it get more attention? Yes: Lots of space with plenty of seating, so it is a great place to do work; friendly baristas that make the transaction pleasant. No: Coffee starts at $2 a cup and the rest of the menu seems a tad pricey; the bathroom in the basement is straight out of a slasher movie. I'm surprised I made it back upstairs alive. Anyway, I decided to stop in to check it out because I always notice it on my way to chapter house, and it is definitely a pleasant, if a tad bit pricey, place to do work in the Jefferson neighborhood.

Despite the creepy bathroom and the overpriced food and drink items, I'm still a big fan. I loved that the barista asked me how my day was and tried to strike up a conversation. Unfortunately, I just wanted to read my book that day, but he was more than happy to leave me in peace in the outdoor patio area. Which was perfect for my needs. I don't know what it looks like at night, but I saw a brazier that looked recently lit in their mini courtyard.

Maybe the free Internet gets it a 2-star.. I debated, but this is the worst coffee shop in the neighborhood so 1-star. Are chapter house and last drop too mainstream for ya? Go to cafe mocha. Do you like coffee in Dixie cups? Go to cafe mocha. The space isn't bad, but somehow it just doesn't come together.

I'm not sure why this place is considered an international coffee house - I don't think having clocks with different time zones really constitutes as "international" but whatever. Cafe Mocha is so-so; drink prices are obnoxious, but the location and provided seating are pretty nice. There's seating out front and on the back patio, which is really pretty and surrounded by lots of plants. I believe they now serve a very limited selection of food (soups, stews, bagels, pastries). They have free internet, so it's a good place to do work and study. The music selection is pretty good, but it's really up to whoever is working at the time.

Great space, nice atmosphere... everything else is terrible. I've never had a good cup of coffee here. I don't order sugary confections that hide the poor quality of the coffee, i get it black. Either the machines need cleaning, the barristas need training or the coffee should be upgraded. Even the hot chocolate is terrible, how can you screw up hot chocolate??? Free Wi-fi definetly doesn't make up for the drinks. However I do see a lot of women hanging out here, single women, hungry, peering out the window for a man, so if your single you may want to cruise past during lunch or after 6pm. Don't ask for decaf, they don't have any on brew and they quickly and dirty french press some for you... horrible.
