The sushi here is not good. It's about as good as the sushi you'll get at a Chinese buffet. The hibachi is over priced and it is also sub-par. Nothing here is worth the price. The service is very friendly, but that doesn't make up for the overpriced not so great food.

Very good all around Japanese restaurant. I live close by and come here for takeout a lot. Also dine in house quite often too hibachi is good and sushi is as well. Try the swordfish!

Came here with a friend for lunch after finding out that Blu Wasabi (in Scranton) is not open. Kabuki is located in a highly obscure row of businesses (including a Planet Fitness) and so it was a little hard to find at first. Once we were there, it was surprisingly busy for a Friday afternoon - lots of hibachi diners, for some reason. The decor is quite nice and it looks a lot bigger inside than from the outside. However, it is really, really dark in there. In fact, we had to pull their blinds open, just to read the menu. Kabuki has a semi-extensive lunch menu that includes items like 2 sushi rolls for $9.50 or a hibachi lunch meal that includes grilled meat/fish/seafood + grilled veggies + soup or salad for $9.50. The prices aren't incredibly bad, but I'd like to point out that these prices are even more expensive than some good Japanese restaurants in New Jersey. Anyway, I ordered a hibachi calamari meal, and two ala carte inari sushi (tofu skin). The sushi was so-so; for some reason, the rice did not taste very "fresh". The hibachi calamari though, was delicious, although the meal was cold by the time they served it. Our waitress was friendly, yet a bit disengaged - she only checked in on us when we flagged her down. My friend had the yellowtail sushi, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and the two roll sushi lunch special, which she thought was somewhat lackluster. Overall, it was an OK experience at Kabuki. I doubt that we will return there though.

Very clean, good customer service, nice staff and the owner is very friendly. I've been going here for years for hibachi and sushi and I love it here. The portions are bigger than most Japanese places, the food is always fresh and always taste great. They are also by far the cheapest Japanese restaurant in the greater Scranton area. Wide variety of sushi and a great menu. Trust me you won't be disappointed. The week sushi lunch specials are an insane good deal too. 3 rolls and a soup or salad for $13...: can't beat it

This is our favorite local Japanese place to eat. Why because it's quiet affordable n the biggy they give you better portions than the others around. Sushi is top notch. Add some soki n your on the way to a great evening.

Amazing food and probably the best service you will ever receive. John is the absolute best.

I'm a big hibachi person. I've been coming here for hibachi since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, it's just been getting less and less about the show and the fun interactions between the cook and the guests and more of just cook and get it over with. But aside from that, the hibachi has never been a disappointment. Everything cooked on the grill tastes incredible, by far my favorite hibachi place in the area. The interior is lovely and quiet.

One of the best sushi in the area. I don't try other food than sushi at Japanese restaurant around here. Sushi is fresh. I am not big fan of atmosphere and the tables, dishes are not very clean. Recommend: Overall sushi Rainbow caviar roll Qual egg!!!

This used to be my favorite place close by for sushi. It seems to have degraded since the previous owners left.

I really love the sushi here. The hibachi is good too, but I come here for the very fresh and delicious hand rolled sushi. They also have a fully stocked bar, which is nice with very interesting drink specials. The atmosphere at the tables is romantic, quiet and relaxing. At the hibachi it is fun and exciting.

The hibachi is always good there and so is the sushi. The staff is a little abrupt and impatient. The waitress was removing the plates very quickly and almost dropped a plate on my hand at one point. She was like that for the entire night. The hibachi chef was really annoying. I don't mind cheering and having fun... But he was banging his tools incessantly in a steady motion and it was so loud! We were sitting in the farthest corner of the restaurant and we couldn't hear each other because of the constant noise. He was extremely immature and did not care that he was ruining the experience of the other patrons. We looked over at him a few times... And he thought it was funny and kept doing it. Overall, the food is good, but the hibachi chef was disruptive and the waitress needed to take a month long class in customer service. The 3 stars go to the food.

Definitely recommend for sushi and good service. They have some great specialty rolls.

At one time Kabuki was one of our favorite Japanese restaurants in the area. We would frequently visit for lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, it seems that the management has changed. In our past few visits we were surprised that the welcoming experience we once enjoyed was no longer there, the food became mediocre, and the staff constantly changed. We had one of the worst dining experiences this afternoon when we stopped by for lunch. The manager became enraged by two members of the waitstaff and began yelling and degrading them in the middle of the restaurant over what seemed to be a very minor issue that should have been solved behind closed doors. Other patrons became visibly uncomfortable as the shouting continued and got louder. A customer politely turned around and asked several times if the manager could stop yelling, but to no avail it did not stop. Finally my husband and I got up after choking down a few bites and left. The manager didn't seem phased that all of the customers were upset by his actions and continued to argue. We will never visit this establishment again after such an experience.

My favorite Hibachi place! I personally do not like any of the other local Hibachi places and I love Kabuki. The prices aren't too bad for the amount of food you get and the drinks can be pretty strong!

I love this place for sushi but not any other dishes. Hibachi isn't my favorite (but theirs is good) however their Pad Thai was weird, too sweet, and artificial-tasting. Try the Dragon Eye or Valentine sushi rolls. The sushi is awesome every time I go and that's quite often.

The one thing about Kabuki is the consistency. This time however, the hibachi chef almost seemed like he didn't want to be there. The rice was a bit over-seasoned, the scallops were tasty, but over-seared. The waitress was attentive. While the preparation wasn't up to it's usual standards this time, we'll still go back... It was more the exception than the rule for Kabuki

Food was good, service wasn't that bad, forgot some of my order. Use to order from here all the time when they first opened & it was great, now it's just ok-good. Will come back but only if I'm in the neighborhood.

Coming from Brooklyn, NY, I've been to several different hibachi joints. Kabuki is right on par for the most part. The restaurant itself was lacking in the decor department, but it wasn't horrible. The wait staff was adequate, not superb, just adequate. The chef didn't speak much English, but he was pretty good at his job. He was cooking, making balloon animals for the kiddies and squirting sake in the adults mouths!!!! Simultaneously! The food was ok and pretty much what we'd expect from a hibachi joint. A bit too salty, overly sauced and huge portions. One complaint of the food is that the seafood is usually overcooked....across the board, no exceptions. Over all, we were satisfied and had a good time. Considering the location, it definitely hit the spot.

I typically get sushi at Kabuki, but yesterday I opted for a new item on the lunch menu: Curry Yaki Udon. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I have hoping for a spicy red curry-like dish. This dish had a sweeter flavor with added spice. There wasn't an initial kick, but as you continued to eat it, you could feel the mild heat. The Udon noodles were nice and chewy, but the sauce didn't do it for me. I enjoy Kabuki for their sushi and hibachi. I don't think I'll deviate from my typical menu choices next time.

I've eaten here a few times since it has opened. The decor is modern and clean... they have a sushi bar, a regular dining area, and hibachi I believe. There's no other Japanese places close by so this is certainly a welcome addition to the area. The have all of the standard Japanese dishes, sushi, and some pan-Asian selections as well. The portions are generous and the service is on point. Definitely recommended! TIP: The last time I was there, they still did not have a liquor license. There is a liquor store just across the parking lot that has a fridge... If you like wine with dinner, make sure you pick it up before you go. The staff is very accommodating and will uncork, serve, and keep the bottle cool for you.

Stopped by here for lunch on a road trip through Scranton. Beware the maps and google map for this location is very wrong. Sent us down a long dirt road into the hills of PA. Ugh. Finally found Kabuki and it was a nice place. Great food. A bit pricey for the area though. Fun Habachi.
