This place was pretty good but has gone downhill. Last time I was in there it was too hot and there was food all over the floor. The waitress took so long to greet us at our table we got up and left. Fuck that place. Kumo holds the sushi crown in this area.

BAD experience here today. Kung Pao was laden with fatty non breast meat chicken. I was forced to pitch half the dish! Come on, folks, don't cut corners on the quality of the meat...this was a fatal flaw. Hot and sour soup was dull as dishwater- no kick at all and no trace of sesame oil. Doctored up, it was just edible. Guys- get the Chinese side of the house in order, quick!

Went with my wife about 5 days ago. We both enjoyed what we had... I had something called Dragon Phoenix, I think..... basically a way better version of General Tso's but iit had some lobster. My wife had a walnut shrimp dish, and she liked it a lot. 2 dinners, 2 apps, and 1 soda, and 1 water.... was like $45. I have better, but this was pretty good. We did not try the sushi.

We recently picked up takeout here and this is an attractive neighborhood place. Our order was submitted via the internet and it was perfectly packed (including some extra this and that we requested) and ready on time. We started with a Japanese appetizer and Chinese entrees; everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. Wish we had a local place that was this good but we live in the land sunshine (SW Florida) where the weather is beautiful and the food so average.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was very happy I did! Sashimi was delicious and service was quick and impeccable. Lovely decor and good ambiance. I intend to dine there again this week while I'm visiting the area on business.

Just found this place on way to movie. Glad we did. Everything was fresh and was tasted great. Had the Hong Kong wanton soup and even my kids wanted some. The ribs were perfectly prepared.

No more than 3 stars. I ordered the sashimi & sushi platter for two. The sashimi was as expected, but tasted a little stale. The sushi was a large fried roll of seafood. The other was a mediocre crunchy spicy tuna roll. It cost $45. This is your sub par sushi spot.

Only been here once, was with my mother and we ordered some spicy salmon rolls. Within a few hours we were both so sick.... Without going into detail let's just say the sushi made its way out pretty quick. Will never eat here again.

Let's start with what was good: - Their hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had. My hat is off to the chef who made it. Great job! - The place is pretty cozy and decent looking inside. And now, for the not so good: - The service in this place leaves a lot to be desired. I asked if I could get a combo of chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and the answer was "No!" and he wasn't going to explain himself. - The Pad Thai was ok but bland. Adding hot sauce didn't quite do the trick. - The waiter never came back to see how I was doing and the place wasn't all that busy. C'mon guys step up the service and add some spice and you can have a 4-5 star place. I might go back.

I can only comment on the Japanese cuisine here, since I did not eat anything else except for the specialty rolls. And this review only applies to the food, because I don't expect much from a pan-Asian restaurant in a suburban strip mall in Oaks, so they get a pass this time around. I haven't been here in about 2 years, and I can't remember how it was the last time I ate here. However, a friend and I popped in for a late lunch while waiting for a movie today, and we were both impressed by the quality of the rolls. And we are both sushi snobs. So, if you are interested in some good Japanese, and want a bit of ambience, but not too concerned about service, I'd recommend this place. Or get take out.

Have to say I was expecting a bit better considering this was the highest rated place on yelp in the area. It was decent. I had the maguro lover's sushi. The hot and sour soup was good. the service was decent. A-OK. Nothing special here.

  • Mike I.

Kamita has pretty good sushi, but just decent Chinese food. I ordered the emperors chicken and was really disappointed. It was just sweet and sour chicken with a blander sauce. I usually go with the sesame chicken but that has gone downhill as well.

Come here more than I should but it's fast, tasty and convenient! I usually order for take out and it's ready within 10-15 min. Nothing too special on the menu that other Chinese restaurants don't have. I've tried the sushi a few times and it's not too special so for the price I would pass. The chinese takeout food is good and not greasy. The usuals we get include Mooshu pork (pork and veggies with thin paper on the side to wrap- think Chinese buritto) and noodles with any meat topping. I wish they had a regular fried thin pan noodle dish with beef but they only have a special seafood one and it's too$$, once I asked for the dish with beef and they were still charging the seafood price so I decided not to get it. I'll keep coming back! Also recommend grabbing a Guava candy in the green wrapper over by the counter on the way out!

I was excited to see what seemed to be good reviews for a decent sushi place in the area. Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. We tried a Kani salad (imitation crab, cucumber and mayo) which was not flavorful and I could have made a better version at home. Lobster roll should have come with a magnifying glass so that you could locate the lobster since you certainly could not see it easily. There was more imitation crab meat than the lobster itself. They should have left the seaweed salad topping off as it tasted like rancid oil as though it was from an old container or they used old sesame oil. Wife's steak teriyaki bento box had beef that could have been the sole of my shoe - tough and inedible. When brought to the attention of the waiter, they did change it for chicken, which was not that succulent but rather dry and fibrous. My Thai curry shrimp resembled more of a Chinese style dish with curry powder and coconut milk than true authentic Thai food. So it looks like instead of going to this restaurant which is trying to be all things to everyone, I will frequent Bluefin, August Moon, Sakura and occasionally Bonjung for sushi, Han Dynasty for Chinese and Thai place for authentic Thai food. Now, any restaurant could have a bad day, so I will give it some time and try again and report back...I hope I have a better experience.

Beef meat is not from a cow. Everything from here tastes bad - like a crappy Chinese restaurant from the mall food court.

The sushi was not good. I ordered tamago and it came out rock solid frozen. Miso soup tasted like it had been there since yesterday.

having to work directly across the street, this place was a normal stop for myself and fellow employees. Many still go, but after a few bad experiences over time its worth getting in the car and going somewhere else. I also found that if you don't hit the lunch menu times (11a-3p), its too pricey and not worth it. $7 for a small friend rice? you got to be kidding me. final word: over priced and not consistent.

I tried Kamita a few weeks back and I have to be honest, it was incredibly disappointing. I ordered take out, General Tso's Chicken and Pork Fried Rice, the usual when I try a new place. Wow, was I let down. First the General Tso's, the Chicken, it' was prepared a little different than most other places, which I am fine with that (i.e. naked, no corn starch) but it was so horribly overcooked (I mean REALLY really overcooked) it was inedible. Think Christmas Vacation's Turkey, that overcooked. The sauce was not bad, I liked the mix of spicey/sweet and I also liked that they threw some veggies (besides just broccoli) in as well. But because the chicken was so horribly overcooked it didn't matter I ended up throwing most of it out. The Pork Fried Rice was lacking in Pork, very lumpy, gloppy and greasy. It just did not look or taste good. The prices slightly higher than most other Chinese/Asian restaurants and honestly after eating there, it's not worth the money. I may give them one more shot to redeem themselves, but until then they are a one star Restaurant in my book.

Kamita is definitely a great addition to the little shopping plaza around the Oaks movie theater. I was skeptical of trying it at first thinking it was going to be a plain, fast food type Chinese restaurant, but I was so wrong. The decor is extremely nice, the waitresses are all very friendly, and the food has been great. We've got a few different sushi rolls so far: dragon roll, Philly roll, and the standard tuna and salmon rolls and they've all been really delicious. We've split a few entrees that have been equally as good. Basically, we eat so much of the meal that we can't even take any home with us. That's how good it is! The one downside I'll say is that sometimes they are slow so I'm not sure you can plan to go an hour before a movie and make it there on time. But, if they are running slow, they are quick to apologize which I appreciate. Looking forward to trying more items on their menu!

Went here the other night and had sushi this time. SO DELICIOUS! (Yes, so much that I had to use annoying caps to let you all know.) I had the Dragon roll and my friend had the PIkachu roll (it's rolled in bright yellow seaweed!) Both were very very delicious. I also had the wonton soup which was reallllly good. I was not disappointed at all, and in fact, I'm upgrading my rating to 5 stars. We received such personal service from our waitress who took the time to talk about the different kinds of sushi they had and so forth. I'll be back yet again!

Fast service. We got take out in record time. The pad thai is great!

  • Mike Z.

Awesome sushi, decent prices, and fast service. I've eaten here a few times, since I work around the corner and you just cant beat it. Have had multiple things, and would order each item again. My fave is probably the calamari salad, even though its pretty much fried calamari over a handful of greens, and is not really a salad, but how can that be bad ?? is amazing. definitely would recommend !

  • Goeff L.

Ordered simple stuff: Vegetable Egg Roll (deep fried and dripping oil that smelled fish - just plan gross). Pad Thai - 3rd class cooking - and hot and sour soup which was just okay - all this not really cheap around 17 $$s (with Tip) Just horrible..... I feel like throwing up what I ate! I am here for the whole week - that's it! No more Kamita. As for the staff - rude, give the money and get out attitude!

Guys, I highly recommend you this restaurant. Food looks like a piece of art and also really, really tasty. I did try almost every Japanese restaurant in a area, this one best of the best.

One of my new favorite places. My girlfriend and I decided to check it out after we found a coupon in the local clipper magazine. Walk in to beautiful atmosphere, very unexpected from a little place near the movies. Great service, friendly and helpful. And of course a great selection. The sushi is fresh and well done. Amazing presentation. Try the Oaks roll. We have now been back a few times. Even had a birthday dinner there with like 10 friends. They were so welcoming threw some tables together and fast service. And I forgot to mention the best part they are BYOB. Try this place it will become ur favorite little joint!

  • Jody A.

Awesome! Great atmosphere, excellent food. Love the decode, and though it is really nice inside it is still okay for casual dining. The staff was friendly, welcoming and occasionally funny. The sushi, wonton soup, egg rolls, all were top notch. The steamed dumplings we did not agree on, I said ok, my husband said great. The General Tso's chicken was quality chicken, but paled in comparison to the house fried rice noodles. House Fried Rice Noodles were the best, it is worth a trip just to try these! We were back for more inside of a week.

Way above average mall Chinese/Japanese/Thai. We had a mix of dishes - no Thai - and everything was fresh and delicious. It is a bit pricey, but the service is very friendly, the decor is classy, and it's worth it.

Continue to love this place . You can now order online and it's ready to pick up in 30 mins or less. Highly recommend the Blackjack Roll.

Nice decor, food is OK, service is slow to average. Found a piece of wire from fryer stuck in my food. Told two wait staff employees and no-one told management. They didn't care. All about getting your money here. Good decor doesn't make up for mediocrity ...

Great food. The coconut shrimp and sushi are top notch. Service and ambiance are good. A step above your average neighborhood Asian restaurant. Prices are fair and average for the portions provided. A great place to go if you are in the area. Will make this my go to Asian restaurant for this area.

My husband and I have eaten at Kamita several times, and we have always enjoyed the food. At our last visit I had the two flavored eggplant, all I can say is YUMMY! The service is always friendly. One misstep, the waiter brought out my dinner about 5 minutes before my husbands dinner. That being said, I would still highly recommend this restaurant.

I've gone to Kamita several times and had good experiences. As for the service I don't feel rushed and that's a good thing. I typically go to restaurants during non-busy hours and I've usually had a nice time sitting and talking. I've brought the whole family and there were lots of options for people who don't like sushi. For people who do like sushi, I like the roll combos and crunchy salmon rolls, and there are also fancier rolls for people who like those. This is a good place to go when you can't decide between Chinese, Thai, Japanese, etc.

  • Raj A.

I didn't go to this place for a long time thinking it's a typical run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Boy, was I wrong! I went to this place at the recommendation of a friend. They have a combination of Chinese, Thai and Japanese-each menu item executed flawlessly. I've tried it all-Sushi rolls, Hot & Sour soup, General Tso's chicken, Thai Curry Chicken, Satay and other items. There was not a single item that disappointed me. Visit this place once if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed!

Quite impressed! Was expecting average Asian fare and was happily surprised with excellent ingredients and terrific flavors. I never write reviews, but this food was great. The Tom Yum soup was an intriguing blend of lightly spicy and lemon grass with great shrimp. The Teriyaki sauce is a very nice light sauce (not the usual syrupy sweet stuff most places kill their food with). Having just moved from California the sushi was pretty good, but the other Asian treats from Japanese and Thai styles were great. Will definitely go back and will recommend it to others.

Fantastic local place for sushi and other great asian food. Vegetarians should absolutely try their General Tso's tofu, it's amazing! Really friendly staff.

This place has delicious food and looks great inside. You could bring a date here. Stumbled upon it and glad I did. Will return the next time I am in the area. I am taking it down 1 star for having TMZ and the Simpsons on TV while we ate. I want to be transported to Asia when I go to an Asian Bistro, not feel like I'm in the living room of a US tenement. But other than that low-class misstep, it was a great meal. Chicken teriyaki was perfect, with glorious veggies.

Right next to the center where Kamita Asian Bistro is located is the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. It was there where the 1st Annual Philly Brick Fest was held. We had a lot of fun, but we left there with empty bellies since they didn't really provide the food that was satisfying enough to last in our bellies until dinner. So, we went to the trusted Yelp app to look for eateries (we're not natives to Oaks). We found Kamita Asian Bistro, and we were happy that we did! It's not like we've never been to eateries like Kamita - the suburbs is full of places like it! But what I am constantly a fan of is the ability of the sushi chefs to create clean and composed dishes that are worthy of anyone's meal. Seriously, maybe they do not get enough appreciation in the suburbs, but I think that they respected the ingredients at Kamita, and that pretty much makes me a fan :-) Plus, gotta love Americanized Chinese food in the mix of the meal! Hehe, thank you, Kamita Asian Bistro, for a wonderful lunch!

One of my favorite sushi places in the area!! The restaurant is family owned and everything tastes so fresh and every time I go there I always leave satisfied with the food and the friendly treatment.

Awesome -if not a little different- food. Don't go in here and expect traditional Chinese food dishes to taste the same as from the generic panda heaven/palace/etc up the road. Much less spice added. Haven't tried too much of their sushi options as of yet as I work in the complex and I'm always wary of seafood causing me illness at work, however their California rolls are quite amazing.

Came here before going to the theater with a group of friends. I had my favorite - Moo Shoo (yum), and the pancakes that came with it were thicker and more doughy than I was used it. The skin isn't as durable and more likely to break - the skin resembled something that of a tortilla that you get in a grocery store. It was an alright dinner but definitely over priced for what they served.

Our main go-to sushi place. Crowds are hit or miss but the service is awesome and they have a great mix of sushi and typical american chinese dishes. The prices are reasonable and the sushi is always fresh and tasty. You won't be blown away by the ambiance but it's a really solid BYOB restaurant. We eat here more than any other place around us.

I've been searching for soup dumplings and found they had them here as Shanghai juice buns. I picked them up along with a spring roll. I was disappointed. they were dry, no broth at all. Not very tasty for the price. However the spring roll was delicious. I was hungry on the ride home, so ate in the car and but was not able to take out the sauce that was in a plastic cup because the Mustang is a stick. It was too much to juggle. First one I ate without the sauce and found it surprisingly tasty, the vegetables were tender, the wrapper to filling ratio perfect. I'll go back and try the sushi next time. We'll see if the rating rises.

The moral of the story, Don't go. This is like seeing the ending scene of a movie where the lead actor gets capped but you still watch the whole movie hoping it doesn't happen. He still gets capped. Kamita is the same. You know walking in the door this is gonna stink. There are no customers. The gun is being drawn. You know looking at the menu this is gonna stink. Pick your poison, chinese, thai, japanese, they can't do anything well with a menu that expansive. The bullet is in the chamber. The waitstaff is fawning all over you from the moment you walk in the door. They are bored because there is nothing to do and they are overcompensating. Aiming at the back of the head. The "cook" is wandering the restaurant looking forelorn. The hammer is cocked. The food comes and it plain 'ol stinks. The shrimp was raw, seriously cold. The food was bland. The pad thai was just strange. Blam. He dies. That bad. I would never eat the sushi. Are you all nuts?! If they can't cook food right, what makes you think they can do sushi?

Had to knock it down one star because they are badly understaffed on weekend evenings. We went there this weekend and although our waiter was trying hard, it was evident he was not an experienced waiter and was overworked. If they hired 1-2 more staffers just for weekend nights they would be fine my guess is. Good meal as always.

A group of 7 of us dropped in late Saturday night around 10pm and luckily they were still open! We had a couple rolls of sushi and a few plates of hot food. The Mango Tango roll was good, but the Volcano roll was not. I expected more spice or flavor and it was just a letdown. Overall it was decent, and the bill came out to around $120, which was a bit more than I was expecting for the area but we were tired and hungry. Oh well!

This place has gone way down hill! All you need to know is that the last time my fiancé and I went, the sushi chef was blatantly and incessantly coughing all over everything. We left! Go to Kumo in Collegeville! Way better!!!

This is the only place where I can general tsos chicken that has real white meat instead of sketchy fatty, cheap dark meat. It's soo good! Also, this place has the BEST sushi. Seriously, I don't go anywhere else for sushi. Their fish is so fresh and the salmon rolls literally melt in my mouth. Food here is so good!!

Best Asian food for the best price I come here multiple times a week.. If you're looking for sushi get the amazing roll it's not on the menu it's 14$ and its spicy crunch shrimp with spicy crab on top I've been there 6 times in one week they deserve more business

Love this place. Hadn't been there since I moved but it's just like I remember it. Quality food at very reasonable prices and a great variety of Chinese, Thai and Sushi. Oh, and it's a byo. Try the Oaks and Blackjack rolls. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Hidden Jewel in the Oaks! I travel a lot on business and was very pleasantly surprised to find Kamita during my stay at the Hampton Inn. The restaurant is within walking distance of the hotel and features sushi as well as Chinese and Thai food. I am a bit of a sushi snob so was apprehensive at first, however I was greeted upon arrival in the sushi bar was very clean and had a lot of options! I tried a few different sushi options and was very happy with all of them ! I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in the Oaks/Pheonixville area and I am happy I will not have to wait for my trip to New York next month to get quality sushi!

I've had Shrimp Tempura before but not like Kamita's. OMG it was delicious. It takes a lot to impress me and Kamita has met the bar. Today was my first time there and I'm already sending friends their way. Found my favorite sushi place!

I'm traveling for buiness and was going to go toa standard chain restaurant, until the front desk attendee at the nearby Hampton Inn recommended I try Kamita. I tried a variety of items including the wonton soup, veggie spring roll, spicy crunch scallop roll and chicken in garlic sauce. All were incredibly flavorful and the pricing was reasonable! I will definitely try them again if I am in the area again!

  • Orkan S.

This is by far the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. So bad, in fact, I downloaded yelp just to write a bad review of this place, so other sushi enthusiasts won't be let down. When one goes out for a filling sushi dinner, one does not expect a value meal. In other words, it usually isn't going to be cheap when you want some sliced fish on top of some rice; that's expected. Having said that, these prices were egregious, even for sushi standards. My family has been taking me to sushi restaurants since before my brain could process memory's. I have been to a myriad of Japanese bistros, more than I care to remember. I absolutely love Japanese food. I even rank 'Jiro Dreams of Sushi' as one of my favorite documentaries. However, I can say without a doubt that this was the absolute worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. Bar none. They ranked the bottom of the barrel in literally every distinguishable category. Price to food ratio: needs improvement. Service: needs improvement. English: needs Rosetta Stone. For 10 pieces of extra small sushi, a lackluster tuna roll and a sweet tea, the whole meal cost me $25! The thing is, I would have gladly paid $40 for just a little more food and a bit more service. They could've redeemed themselves at so many instances, but when they brought out my egg roll appetizer at the same time as my entrée, and I told them I didn't want the app anymore because I'm just gonna eat my meal, they started bad mouthing me in Japanese to each other! I mean I know the 'customer is always right' thing only goes so far, but do you all have to raise your voice and turn to look at me at the same time? I don't need to speak Japanese to know when you're talking shit. Bottom line, if you're a tourist who doesn't know anything about sushi, be my guest and waste your money here. However, if you hold your sushi meals in the highest standard, I promise you could get infinitely better service, serving size, atmosphere and prices literally anywhere else in town of literally any other cuisine. Heed my warning, or be disappointed when your stomach is as empty as your wallet at the end of this greatly disappointing dining experience. -ORKAN STAS
