The menu is huge, the prices are good. There are unicorns. I think some of the other reviewers may have had unrealistic expectations. It's a diner in Pennsylvania! I didn't expect my Rocky Mountain Rainbow Trout to be as good as La Fonda's in Santa Fe. And it wasn't, but for the price and convenience, we were happy enough. My husband's Greek Salad looked excellent.

Ah, the rare 1-star review, though the Trooper Diner has earned it. I almost gave it 2-stars because of its unicorn-motiff, but the service has been so consistently poor, I just can't recommend it. Went there a bunch of times in high-school and my college breaks with friends and whatnot. Food is OK, basically low middle end for a diner, but would normally be passable. Service is pretty much bottom of the barrel. Had (2) notable experiences: 1. Was there with a small group and one guy ordered a milkshake, which typically comes in a glass with a silver shaker with the extra. No extra to be found - glimpsed over and saw the waiter drinking it as he wiped down a table a few booths away. 2. Went to pay at the register and was told that the prices on the menu no longer reflected the actual prices - everything was now a few dollars more per item - no notice or anything provided on the menu, etc. and the staff was very rude about the whole thing. Never went back.

This place is cute. Just a bit expensive for diner food. It's really bright with lots of windows. It seems to have it's original booths and window treatments. The server took my order and then a table of 7 came in. I waited about 1/2 hour for my food, the table of 7 got their food, and my server said, "Honey. I'm not even going to lie to you...I forgot to put your order in. I put it in about 2 minutes ago...." Ummm...k. Cool. :/ I waited another 10 minutes for my food. Blah.

Just do yourself a favor and don't go here. Go a few more miles down the road to city restaurant. I asked for a burger no bun with cheese and chips. I am a celiac. They brought me out a burger on a bun with French fries. I sent it back and they came out 3 more times asking me what I meant I wanted because I apparently me explaining 2 times before that wasn't enough. The burger came back out with just a burger and a bag of chips. No lettuce, onion, pickle and when I told them that I just didn't want it anymore the (what I'm assuming to be) manager said that his "wife acted the same way" I was furious. Great customer service ahole. You'll be closed by the end of the year and thousands in debt. You deserve that.

This place isn't worth your time or money. The food is average, yet they nickel and dime you for everything. I ordered a sandwich that says it comes with cheese, then they charge extra for the cheese. Wtf? The decor is mad rundown, as well. Definitely never going here again.

Food is ok, service is slightly below average, prices are great if you go Mon-Fri morning for their breakfast specials. I've gone there about a dozen times in the last 2.5 years. It's ok. Last time I went there I tried a omlette with feta. It was pretty awful. I don't know what kind of feta they use, but it had a very sour taste and I tried to eat around it. I also had to track down the server for water and coffee when we were one of two tables. Their pancakes/french toach are good. My toddler likes going there, so I'm sure we'll be back. It's an ok, cheap place to eat on the weekdays

What a shame! I'm sure if the food was better the Trooper Diner would get a better flow of late night bar patrons from down the street. The ambience of the place is better than the food. They have nice open ceilings and the booths are comfortable. Its open 24 hours, so that's a plus. I wonder if they still have that ridiculous saying on the marquee. The sign reads "Open 25 Hours". What is the Trooper Diner trying to say? Are they not affected by the Earth's normal rotation, and are granted an extra hour of time? The Trooper diner best serves as a place to get a coffee and chew the fat with some friends. One might get a decent appetizer, but among other diners in the area, The Trooper D needs that extra hour to compete.

Typical fare for a diner... Stopped in around eight on a Saturday night and there were only a few other customers there. Didn't have any complaints about the food or the service. They do have a zillion things to choose from on the menu (maybe moreso than other diners) so I am not too sure all the food can be called "fresh". I had the meatloaf and gravy platter and thought it was pretty good... My husband had a HUGE burger and he seemed to like it, although he couldn't even finish it all... It came with an equally huge amount of fries and onion rings, which was lucky for me cause I ended up stealing his fries and dipping them in my gravy... That was probably the highlight of my meal LOL:)

Typical diner. Nothing special, although they do serve Greek food which is kind of different, but for the most part it is decent food at a decent price.

It is a diner. Nothing special, but nothing wrong, either. Priced right, service is fine, and food is what you expect. I've never been there for anything other than breakfast, but every breakfast I've had has been good, whether pancakes, omelettes, or breakfast sandwiches. Granted, that's not the most complicated meal of the day to do right, but they at least do get it right.

Nice family style diner. Consistently good food, moderately priced. Very busy on weekends for breakfast, expect a short wait. Open 24 hours.

The trooper diner has been really hit or miss for me. I don't go there anymore because there have been too many times I've gotten food that just hasn't been worth the small price of it. It is one of those little places where it really seems to depend on who the cook is that night. I've had some good meals, but their batting percentage isn't high enough for me to make it a usual spot. They do have what I like to call the "dirty coffee pot" diner coffee which I love so much, but that's the only thing that has been consistent on my visits to the Trooper Diner.

This is where I take people for an easy, nonstressful meal. Food is almost universally good...the only caveat (based on friends' comments) is that some of the dishes on the "Little Dinners" part of the menu aren't so great. (The Monte Cristo someone here complained about is _exactly_ the meal I'm thinking of.) But the whole menu itself is so extensive, and most of what I've found on it is well-prepared and filling, that it's not a big deal. Most food is American cuisine, though there's a fair number of Greek/Mediterranean dishes (gyros, salads, appetizers). I've had good sandwiches, breakfasts, and meal-sized salads here, and have been eating here for about 10 years. The owners and servers (and there's some overlap between the two, I think) are usually pleasant and accommodating. Desserts used to be great, but as of 2014 don't taste that fresh. (I'm referring to the pies in the front case.) HOWEVER: the rice pudding is excellent: fresh and delicious.

Usual diner fare and not the cheapest out there. I frequent this diner because it is right next dooe to my workplace, so convenience is key. The food is good and hot and the people are friendly.

I ordered a Monte Cristo and they gave me French toast topped with ham and melted cheese. You'd be better off eating caulk. As for the decor... at the newspaper stuffed trashbag ghosts gave the place a nice asthetic touch.

Typical diner food, we go there for the club sandwich and its usually pretty decent.

Trooper Diner was a pleasant surprise, the decor is very open, almost in the old 50's diner style, lots of blue colors.. the food was good, I got a shortstack, 2 eggs and an orange juice for less than $10.
