Wow. Really good. I'm glad I don't live closer or I'd be coming here every other day. Authentic cooking, everything cooked with care. You do have to park on the street and the neighborhood is rough looking, but there weren't people lurking about. It's open until 11 which is great. Even the beans were good, usually they're just... there because traditionally you put them on the plate. The woman cooking was very sweet.

One of my favorite spots in Norristown. The place is cozy inside and feels like you're sitting in your own kitchen. The staff is friendly and promptly greets and sits you. The complimentary chips and green salsa is a plus for sure. If that wasn't enough the menu is extensive and everything I've had so far (sopas, enchiladas, and burritos) have been fantastic. The prices are good and the food is delicious. What's not to like? I will definitely be coming back soon.

Ambiance - There was ample seating available at the cafeteria-style tables. Two large flat screen TVs were also a nice addition to entertain patrons at what seems to be a great spot for lunch. The young man at the counter did not know a lot about the components of the dishes, which is why I gave this place a 4.5 instead of 5. Chorizo Quesadilla with Guacamole, Salad, and a side of Refried Beans - 4.5 out of 5 Awesome! For $7, you get a large and very filling dish. The quesadilla was chockfull of oozing cheese and chorizo. Its outer crust was buttery and crispy from the grill. We shared the quesadilla and it was more than enough for two people. The guac was very good. My BF and I make guac a couple of days a week and we both enjoyed TreJo's version very much. It seemed there was cilantro and maybe some onion, along with some other ingredients that tasted super fresh, I only wish there was more.

New to the area and this is the best restaurant I've found. I've been driving over twenty miles on Sunday morning for the huavos rancharos (spelling?) which is not on the menu but they make anyway, on request with no question or hassle. My daughter always gets the pork tamales which are wrapped in banana leaves. The food is amazing! Today I left on a cold winter morning with a warm feeling in belly which lasted for hours. Was it the fresh hand made green salsa, the large cup of good and often filled coffee, and inviting we are glad you are here and are now one of the family atmosphere, the unrushed yet attentive service or the warm smiles? Probably a little of each. This place is totally kid friendly with 2 large screen tv's with kid's movies playing, but not in an annoying way. I love the stream of locals coming in to get their Sunday tamales and menudo. Also a 10 for cleanliness!!!!!!! YAY! :) Go to TreJO!

May favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Nortistown. Great selection, yummy food. They have more here than any other place. Homemade tortilla chips, and they are open late!

TreJo is a quaint Mexican restaurant that is tucked away in Norristown. The inside isn't big, but it's clean and inviting. The waitress and menu are both English-friendly. They serve up a wide array of food beyond just street fare --- lots of classic Mexican entrees. This is one of the best Mexican joints in Norristown (and I've tried almost all of them): 1) Open til 11pm 2) Takes credit card ($10 minimum) 3) Chips are homemade and served with a bean salsa (pretty unique!) 4) Agua Fresca! 5) Offer a wide variety of traditional entrees (but their street food is still killer!) For entrees, I've tried the enchiladas con carne asada (enchiladas in a red sauce with a side of grilled beef) and alambres de bistec (skewered steak). Both were very good. For street fare I definitely recommend the tostadas -- I've eaten at almost all the Mexican joints in Norristown, and this place has the best tostadas by far (try the carnitas or carne asada). I really like their adobada (marinated pork) to put into a torta, sope or tacos. They've got the fresh juices (agua fresca) in the spinning containers - I've tried the Horchata, mango, and watermelon juices.

I shared the chicken quesadilla with my toddler and my husband had a few steak tacos (authentic style - cilantro, lime, etc). You can tell the food is super fresh - made when you order. Worth a little waiting! The complimentary tortilla chips brought while you wait are the thicker, still-warm, home-made kind (yum!) and the salsa is pretty spicy (depending on your spice tolerance - it was too spicy for my toddler, but just right for me). The menu is not sixty pages long (yay!) but offers plenty to choose from. The staff (seems to be mainly one lady, who might be one of the owners from what I hear) is helpful and attentive. This relatively small restaurant seems like it's a favorite lunch spot for business types, but it's equally family-friendly. If we lived closer we would be here more often!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
