In short: It's a top-notch spot. If you've been following my reviews, you may know that I'm on a quest to eat at and review every Mexican restaurant in Norristown. Taqueria Mexico Lindo was the second place on my list, and it did not disappoint. Like most of the Mexican eateries in Norristown, it's small and spartan, but the food makes up for the decor. Service is friendly, but ranges from tolerant to very friendly depending on the day and the business. English is not widely spoken, but the staff knows enough to get by if your Spanish is not up to task. The tacos are top-notch, as are the enchiladas, which are my personal favorite and are easily the best enchiladas I've ever had, anywhere. My one gripe would be that the menu is somewhat limited. While they have a very wide range of meats to choose from for your tacos or whatnot, the actual menu items themselves are quite limited. For example, they do not serve burritos, which is quite unusual for the common Mexican eatery. But what they do serve, they do very well. Prices are average for the area, $2 for a taco, $6 for a larger meal (torta, enchilada plate, etc). Recommended.

Foodgasm. Literally found this place on vacation as we were looking for food in the King of Prussia area, and the GPS gave us a taqueria. We figured why not? Now, Mexican food, real honest-to-Pedro Mexican food, is hard to find on the East Coast. You can get a lot of counterfeit stuff in the form of Tex-Mex or other Latin folks trying to cook Mexican food, but it's not the same in most places. This place is the real deal. The place is small, has those ever-flowing juice machines that signify a real taqueria (one is horchata, the other I think was tamarindo), and the telenovelas were on TV. We checked the menu and noticed two things -- one, they are nice and cheap eats and two, they don't care how squeamish white people are towards things like lengua and cabeza -- these are good signs. Everything was as it should be. We had an array of tacos, of which only the lengua was disappointing. It's been a while since I've had some good tongue meat, and I seem to recall it's usually doused in hot sauce, whereas this was served up plain. Outside of that, though, life was good, and I had seconds on the carnitas. The quesadilla was the bomb, fried up nice and crisp and had some great queso blanco in it. I think my fiance also had a tostada, which was pretty damn tasty too. Oh yeah, and the horchata? It's sweet, liquid crack. They also had a fully stocked soda fridge with Mexican Coke in the glass bottle. If you're not familiar with this stuff, it's Coca Cola, but made like it was back in the day -- with cane sugar, not corn syrup. It's hard to come by, but damn is it good. Next time I'm in the area for work, I'm going back and getting like a case of tacos to come home with. ~EEE~

Delicious tacos. 2.50 each! If you're in town and need a quick tasty bite. Go for it!

Good, solid, authentic Mexican foods. Tacos were excellent (though the al pastor was kind of lacking in tradition - like pineapple) Enchiladas were tasty, and not over-cheesed. Overall, a place like Veracruzana in S. Philly gives you rice and beans on the side for the same price as here. Horchata was refreshing. Service appears to be pretty indifferent if you are a gringo. Be prepared to dust off your high-school Spanish.

Best Mexican food ever!! That is saying a lot as I'm from southern Cali. The quesadillas are the bomb, but are really more like Tacos. Salsa Verde is a must. Having tried much more than that but sure you can't go wrong with anything you get. Small place in a questionable area so would order to go if I were you. The coconut water in the can is fab too.

Re: shrimp cocktail - "I didn't love it, but it was good." That's what my boss says after he was looking for something cold to eat on a hot day. I think he was being modest..he loved every minute of it, &gave it 1 solid thumb up. They also have octopus or squid cocktail, I believe. Shrimp cocktail in general is weird - @ least the British version adopted by America. It involves a pool of cocktail sauce & some cooked shrimp w/vegetables. I believe it may have started as a joke, like a gag dish. Hah. Anyhow, Mexican cuisine, or at least this restaurant, blows the Olde English version out of the water & treats the dish(es) as an ACTUAL COCKTAIL of blended up seafood parts, tomatoes & vegetables. That is the Real.

I was surprised that this place was open at 10:30 on a Monday. The lady at the register didn't speak much English, and the board behind her was in Spanish but we sorted it out. I noticed later that they do have a couple menus with English on side. It's authentic style Mexican. The tacos I got were just a little dry, but really flavorful with fresh cilantro on it. They're doing the taco lord's work here

I am a big fan of consistent, cheap, tasty eats. This place is spot-on! Keep in mind, this is AUTHENTIC Mexican food. If you are looking for Tex-Mex, you need to go somewhere else. The tortas and tacos are good, I prefer mine with carnitas (pork) or pollo (chicken). The quesadillas are not your Taco Bell quesadillas, they are more like large tacos, and they are awesome! I discovered that I love sopas after discovering them at this place. On the weekends they have horchata, a delicious milky rice drink with cinnamon, that totally helps if you put too much hot sauce on your quesadilla. ;-) It definitely helps to know a little Spanish, and they only take cash. It's a great little hole in the wall that has fast take-out service. Highly recommended for a quick and cheap lunch or dinner!

Excellent taqueria, especially if you stick to the highlights: - Quesadilla (carnitas is my favorite) - these are made the right way, with a corn tortilla - tostada de tinga - Enchiladas - Horchata on the weekends, otherwise grab a Jarritos or Boing from the fridge Don't expect chips/salsa or rice/beans to come with your meal. This is a straight-up, no frills taqueria. Seat yourself when you come in. Grab a drink from the fridge if you want. The server is usually pretty efficient and brings the food out quick. They have English menus for the gringos. Cash only.

Increíble! The food at Taqueria Mexico Lindo was exactly what you'd find in a busy marketplace or street in Mexico City or Guadalajara. The tacos, quesadillas, and flauntas were all muy rico! I haven't had a chance to try the soups (caldos o sopas) or the tortas but they looked fantastic! I too wished that they served horchatas everyday, which are served without limits on weekends. The service here is exactly what I'd expect and appreciate-bare bones yet prompt. Hey this isn't fine dining, this is working man's food served without fanfare or pretentiousness. If you want a show with your meal, go to an On the Border and feast on bad Tex-Mex! Me? I'll RELISH and celebrate the authenticity of Taqueria Mexico Lindo. I just wished they made their own torillas-but you can't have it all. 4.5 stars if possibile, but I'll round up on Taqueria Mexico Lindo.

A good taqueria in the Philly suburbs? Why yes, as a matter of fact. Taqueria Mexico Lindo is everything I need from a taco joint. Great food, decent prices, quick service. The number of local Mexican folks chomping down tacos to the sounds of the latest telenovela on the TV above always gives an extra vote of confidence. I had tacos al pastor, and though I prefer them with a little grilled pineapple, they were delicious. The tortas looked really good as well. The cooler is filled with an assortment of beverages in tamarind, grapefruit, guava and the rest of the Jarritos line-up. You can expect a little of the gringo stare-down when you walk in, but people always warm up when they realize you're there to share some good food. Check-em out.

Inspired by Joey B., I have decided to attempt my own Norristown Mexi-quest, sampling food and sharing my thoughts. I had a pretty good experience here, I would have to say, although I think possibly my hopes were raised a little too high. The lone male server was able to get to the counter pretty quickly to take my order. Which was great, since Starey Mcstaresalot grandma sitting up at the counter wasn't saying so much as hola! He was quick and even had a small smile for me. I could tell that, while he wouldn't exactly make it as a server at TGIamasupercheesyserver, had I been dining in would have had a good, albeit quiet, experience. I was able to sit at a table while waiting, and the other reviewers were definitely not joking when they said one would only wait 5 minutes for food! I think my sandwich, a torta con carnitas, took maybe 4.5 minutes. The tortas are six bucks, and come with your choice of meat, lettuce, apparently a single tomato, jalapenos, and mayo. The carnitas were good, but a lot less tender than I would have liked. And while the bread had good flavor, it was a lot denser than other similar tortas I've tried. But the sandwich was good enough for me to want to come back and try their tacos, which I'm sure would be very good. Joey B. is right that the menu is limited. It's very much a casual lunch kind of place, great if you want tacos or sandwiches. I had a craving for chiles rellenos, and I didn't even notice any entrees on their menu. Mexico Lindo was perfect for my visit though, since I was grabbing a late lunch on my way to work and needed to be quick. The food came out so fast, and there was plenty of street parking so I could run in and out in a flash. Can't say if they accept credit cards since I always carry and use cash on hand.

I had 3 tacos and a sopes. Unfortunately, I came during a time when they didn't have horchata. The tacos were decent. Had the asada and carnitas. I would say the asada was ok, the carnitas seemed a lot better. The sope was interesting. Not traditional/typical with that little shell u get and spread beans,n queso fresco, n guac/avocado, tomato n all that. It was almost like a pizza shaped tortilla (or tortilla chip i forget.) that you ate off a plate with a fork and knife...not bad nonetheless, but def not one of the best sopes I've ever had. The salsa verde they give you is pretty decent. The pricing isn't bad I guess for Philly. This like many other places in Philly regarding mexican food would be considered expensive in LA so I'm trying to understand the average pricing for these kinds of foods around here and make a reasonable judgement. It is cash only. Also a bit of spanish helps here. Luckily I can order food, and they can give you those pickled carrots and jalapenos if you request it. They're also very attentive so you won't be left wondering if they're neglecting you cause the food comes by really fast.

It's pretty hard to not take your chances on a restaurant that just looks so clearly out of place for its neighborhood which is exactly what my dad did and has been raving about ever since. On a summer trip home from San Diego, I finally had the opportunity to try out this place nestled in a Norristown neighborhood. My first reaction from the outside was, "It's the only pink building in the neighborhood. It's got to be good!" My first reaction from the inside was "I don't know about this place but I'm ready to take my chances." Even though only 20% of the tables were occupied, they were all filthy. We selected the least dirty table without being greeted as the woman behind the counter stared us gringos down. We waited a good 3-4 minutes for our server to come by and wipe it for us. The woman behind the counter continued to stare. Honestly, I didn't feel very welcomed at this point. Our server had absolutely no personality and clearly didn't understand the concept of "good service usually equals good tip". I really hope he is reading this now because the food was on point and I'm sure he can earn a few extra bucks a day if he kept the tables clean, put on a smile and stopped to check on us once or twice through the meal. I had a chicken taco and a pork quesadilla, both were delicious and far different than any Mexican food I've had anywhere. I've never been to Mexico but I do live 30 minutes from in. Considering that, I would say this food is far more legit than anything served in San Diego. I scarfed down my food in about 5 minutes. The woman behind the counter continued to stare.... Mexico Lindo has so much on the menu I've never even heard of. I really wish I was going to be in town longer so I could try it all. This place also has a nice collection of hard to find drinks; I got an apple soda. All prices on the menu were very reasonable. My dad and I had lunch and sodas for $15. I came for a quick authentic lunchtime experience and left more than satisfied with the food and prices, but I do think Mexico Lindo could put a lot more care in service and presentation. BEWARE, CASH ONLY! The woman behind the counter continued to stare....

Excellent tacos for $2 each. I tried the legua (tongue), barbacoa (goat) and carnitas (pork) - all delicious. They also offer a variety of soups and stews.

3 tacos, 6 bucks - which no one realized we still owed them until we kept standing at the register. 2 carnitas (very yummy with or without the salsa verde), 1 al pastor (with no pineapple :-( ). The owner was very friendly, the other patrons a little prone to sidelong glance while we waited for our food. I think I'll go back for the enchiladas and flautas... might be adding some stars.

YES! Finally a mexican restaurant that rises above passable to the ranks of memorable in the philly burbs, Bare bones decor... cheap prices... and the best tortillas and enchiladas around. No burritos on the menu, but the sopes, tortas and enchiladas were all memorable. Only disappointment was the lack of horchatas/aqua frescas, which we learned are only available on the weekends.

I love a good mexican meal and this is one of two mexican places in the area that i like to go to. I usually get the enchiladas and i've always enjoyed the ones they make. The tortillas are fresh and the plates are big, so eat up. I like the atmosphere here as well. There's also a bar in the back.

So you want more authentic tacos? Well this little hole in the wall is your spot. You will get very little of the typical flashy decor but you when you walk in and see a lot of local working guys there you can bet you are onto some cheap tasty and quick eats. I mean super cheap. Tacos for $2 each cheap. We stopped in as a way to fill my stomach while we the pooch was undergoing his evaluation to get into a boarding/training place nearby. I am so glad we did. We were instantly impressed that the menu albeit short contained harder to find meats with options like beef tongue and brain as well as a couple other I can't remember. We looked over the menu a long time then finally settled on some items. We ordered and in about 5 minutes had hot fresh food in front of us. I opted for the tostadas. I got two chicken & one beef. The beef was the best great flavor and the meat was more like chopped beef rather than ground. They topped them with an avocado and some cheese which added a lovely balance to them. With your meal you get some sauces brought out to the table one is green chili and sour but hot. The other is a brown smokey chili sauce which has some heat as well. They also have a variety of Mexican sodas which is always a nice treat. I would/will definitely go back here when I am in the area, which will probably be soon since the dog passed his test. Final word to the wise is that they do not accept credit cards - this is cash only.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
