Great breakfast joint. That's all I've ever eaten there. Enjoyed by locals for years. Fast service. Prices competitive. Food is good.

I give Jem's 4 stars for their breakfasts. Let's start with the coffee; good. Scrapple is the best. I mean cooked to perfection. Their eggs are almost always done right no matter how you order; over-easy, over-medium, scrambled or omelet. They have a wide selection of omelets. I love the tomato mozzarella. They use 3 eggs but you can get a smaller version (2 eggs) which is more than enough. Home fries are excellent as well. Pancakes are good but not the best I ever had.

My husband and I ate breakfast here. My husband got an omelet and they seem to use some sort of cheese product rather than actual cheese because the cheese seemed to separate into a watery mess inside of the omelet rather than melt. I also ordered a side of bacon, and much to my horror they deep fried the bacon! Any place that deep fries bacon obviously doesn't know what they are doing. The coffee is pretty terrible as well. Overall terrible meal and the decor and atmosphere is not much better.

The Jem is a diner full of locals, served by locals do keep you're expectations there. It is, and always will be a greasy spoon That said, I've been having my Saturday am omelette there for years and I think it's the best breakfast around. The staff is friendly and diner-competent (with one exception, she's terrible but must know all of the locals. Get off of your phone) and I've had good consistent meals here for years. Yes, it could use some repairs. Yes, the ceiling vents could use a bath. Charm and friendliness, however, are in abundance and it's hard to put a rating on that.

Fifties style diner with kicknacks all over the place. Menu offers classics like burgers, rubens, etc. I had the ruben, which was just OK. Served with bag potato chips. They seem to have a loyal following of regulars - not sure why.

Probably won't go back for a long time. This long-standing local favorite truly disappointed us today. We both ordered the grilled chicken melt on sourdough bread. My husband specifically asked that his bread be grilled well (dark). We both got sandwiches that barely touched the grill on one side. It was basically melted butter. The side of chips were stale and consisted of the broken pieces at the bottom of the bag. When we told the waitress she brought us a bowl of chips from a newly opened bag, no apology. Our waitress also never offered refills of our drinks. We told the kid at the cash register how unhappy we were and he said he was sorry but shrugged his shoulders. Guess they don't need to care that much. :(

Absolutely loved the food. It came out fast as heck as well. Jimmy I believe was the cook and another gentleman. They both did well, I even brought a coworker there about an hour later it was so good! Also it was really affordable pricing. Highly recommend trying this "Jem."

Opens early!! Not many restaurants are. Getting my morning fix of coffee, Lisa provides great service & has much patience with us "dirty old men." They're the one of only two places that still serve Liverwurst!

I seriously can't believe that this place doesn't have that many reviews!! It's a family owned restaurant that give you a home feeling with some 50's style decor and really lovely staff! The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable! If you're looking for a relaxing, affordable restaurant and a homemade meal then Jem is the place!

I loved coming to Jem's Restaurant for breakfast. The food was good and service was great, and the place has a certain look to it that made it unique. However, I went there yesterday (04Apr15), and the only reason I am giving it a low score is because of the teenagers that they hired to work there. I understand being in high school and joking around, but cracking a couple of raw eggs to play a prank on the bust boys is wrong. The one husky teenager cracked a raw egg and let it sit on the table and then went over to the middle of the room and cracked another raw egg and left it on the shelf and covered it with a rag that they use to clean the tables. (I do not know if the bust boy used the rag that was contaminated by the raw egg or not to clean the tables.) When the bust boys saw the raw eggs at both spots, they refused to clean the mess up right away. I feel this is not sanitary and could get someone sick. I'm sorry as much as I like Jem's Restaurant, I can see someone getting severely sick from this place. I would not consider going back, unless they got rid of the jokers and got some real help. Hiring these teenagers who really do not think through about the effects of their pranks can harm the customer is not funny to me.

This is a small family run diner. No fancy frills. You seat yourself. Service is friendly and really fast most days. My husband and I live in the area and just recently became regulars. I like my eggs over medium with the white cooked ALL THE WAY. This is the first place I've gone that gets my eggs right EVERY TIME! Our bill is never even $20.

My husband and I have lived in this area for years, but didn't give the Jem a try until about a month ago. We are kicking ourselves for not coming here sooner! It's a classic 50's style luncheonette, full of friendly regulars who have been coming here for 40 years. Tony the owner is incredibly nice and down-to-earth, and makes the rounds around all the tables greeting everyone. He makes everyone feel at home. The food is classic diner-style, tasty and reasonably priced. The eggs are always cooked perfectly, and the bacon and scrapple are out of this world. (Ask to have the scrapple "sticks", I will never eat scrapple any other way again!) Someone's review here complained about the fact that they deep-fry their bacon... let me tell you, their bacon is heaven. Bacon isn't healthy to begin with, so might as well cook it the way that makes it the most delicious! We come here at least once a week now, and you should too if you've never been. Bring some cash, order up a tasty breakfast, say hi to the nice people sitting around you, look at some cool 50s memorabilia while you eat, and support a local business. It doesn't get any better than that.

Nothing special about this strip mall diner. Went on a busy Sunday morning and was told to seat myself. The two of us sat at a 4 person table because booths were full and no 2 person tables were clean. Waitress was efficient but gave us attitude because people were waiting in parties of four and we were only 2 at a 4 person table (not sure why they don't seat people so this doesn't happen). Veggie Omelette was sufficient. Pancakes were dry. Coffee also. Total $14. They don't take credit cards which is annoying in 2014 but they have an ATM there so they can get your extra $2.50. A "good enough" diner though I'm not likely to return.

We go to Jem's once or twice a month because we love local eateries. Each time we go, we know the food will be good and consistent. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The wait for a table can be long depending on the time you go. But, once there, you are served quickly. We love the memorabilia booths. The women's bathroom has great reading on the wall! (oh, and it's clean too!)

Great breakfast joint. Love the scrapple and pork roll with pancakes. My wife always has a ham and cheese omelet and loves it. Very local type place and down to earth. Don't expect total fancyness.

JEM serves all the usual American breakfast items: eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc Booths and tables are available and they are heavy on the 1950s decor. Portions are generous and the food is yummy. Service is mixed: sometimes fast and cheery, sometimes (less often) grumpy and slow (sometimes very slow). Prices are average.

The best local place for breakfast! My family and I have been coming here for years, I recommend the raisin french toast, but my wife loves "The Fonz" Everyone who works there is really nice and the food is great!

The perfect little place to ruin your entire day. Reason being? The creamed chipped beef over shredded potatos is to say the least, dis "f'n" scusting. I can't believe that the person who made that crap did indeed deem that wretched slurry to be food grade and/or eidible The cheese steak zep i had was a bit better but by no means good. The chip steak was way to over cooked, the salami was tastless, and w/ coropolese not 1 mile away why then was the roll awful? I can go on & on about the dirtiness, the mediocre service, & the ripped up booths because what's the point. I will never go back & will strongly encourage every one to never go there either.
