I mostly do take out here. I have dined here a couple of times and lets just say I'm happier doing takeout. If they can focus on service I would be a regular. The interior(?), eh I dont care so long as the food is good, I've eaten at complete hole in the walls and loved it. Food-wise, the food is great. It tastes fresh and very flavorful. That's what it's about and thats why I still order from there. So this review is purely about the food and although i have complaints about everything else it still derserves 4 to 5 stars for how they cook. Advice to mgmt, because I want this place to succeed, keep the food fresh and focus on service because those are key. Also, if you want to have a buffet make it a true representation of what you would serve at dinner otherwise don't have one at all.

Now when I read reviews about service at Indian restaurants as being bad I chalk it up to being a leisurely meal. I've hit up a few local Indian places and they all seem to be slower paced service and I'm okay with that. My friend and I went here for the first time for dinner and enjoyed it. We got the samosas to start which were excellent. Hot. Crispy. Flavorful. We had to recycle the green and brown chutneys supplied complimentary with the crispy flat bread. I got an accompaniment of Indian pickles, Achaar, with my meal which were a delight. Very sour and spicy intense original flavors that I really hadn't had before. Finally as for the meal I got the curry goat...spicy. Of course it was real spicy between that and the pickle dish my eyes were watering. The goat meat had bone in but I was okay with that. Came with a side of rice. My buddy got the Dosa filled with paneer. He was satisfied. It was incredibly long and came with a yogurt based sauce (a little bland) and another side which appeared to be a dinty Moore beef stew like concoction. Overall this being a BYO was plus. It didn't really knock my socks off but got the job done for my Indian fix.

Bawarchi- Since last 4 years i have been to this place at Wayne and now at Norristown. As it happens with any desi restaurant the quality of food, freshness, taste, flavor everything starts to decline after couple of years. Same story for Bawarchi also. There was a time when we used to go 3 or 4 times a week to Bawarchi, it was the best indian resturant in the area those days. THe food was amazing, so many vegetarian options, biryani was great, buffet was the best and pricing was apt. But now things have changed, its not the same. Nothing tastes good, too much oily food, not much options, no flavor, biryani is the worst now. "Unless they improve and get back to old days of serving fresh and tasty food its not worth to visit Bawarchi now"

While in the mood for indian food, my girlfriend and I decided to try Bawarchi Indian Restaurant that replaced Flavours of India. We liked Flavours of india's food but figured they closed due to slow business. Bawarchi Indian Restaurant contains the same interior of the restaurant but has a different menu and management. They still provide a lunch buffet and a dinner menu, as well as a dinner buffet for Valentine's Day. We decided to get takeout since we weren't in the mood to eat out that night. For the vegetarian appetizers, we decided to try the Aloo Tikki which was something we never had before and we both enjoyed it. The Chicken 65 non-vegetarian appetizer was also very good as we ended up eating the entire order pretty quickly. I really enjoy naan, so we decided to get the Break Basket which was mostly very good other than what I believe to be a wheat naan as it wasn't very flavorful. My girlfriend went with the Chicken Tikka Masala which was very good as the chicken and sauce were both tasty. I decided to try the Achari Lamb which was different than I expected as I thought it would come with minimal sauce but ended up coming piled high in sauce. I still enjoyed the lamb and thought it was decent compared to what I have had previously at other indian restaurants. Unfortunately they did not have the Gulab Jamun or Rasmalai which I really enjoy, but we received Kheer on the house which ended up being pretty good. Hopefully next time we go they will have those desserts as I always enjoy them. Lastly, the manager of the restaurant was very nice. Overall, I would recommend this place to anybody searching for indian food in the area.

I have eaten here in all of the previous incarnations (New Bawarchi, Flavors of India), so we thought we'd try it out. It never bodes well when the place has been open for 30 minutes and not a soul is in sight, nor are the tables set. A gentleman was waiting for his take-out order, but no employees were visible. After 5 minutes, we were hurriedly seated and poured lukewarm, tap water. The employee then disappeared again for 10 minutes. Almost simultaneously, the take out diner returned because his order was wrong. When the employee resurfaced, he frantically went back to the kitchen to remedy this order. Yet, here we sat, alone in the dim dining room, with nothing but water for 15 minutes. I honestly think the only employee was serving as host, waiter and cook. I felt bad for him and I'm all about supporting new business, but we decided to bail...nothing left me confident that we would get a good meal. As I was leaving, I also noticed rice all over the rug under my chair and several dirty tables. It just all seemed so sad. Off to Aman's we went...

The food is all SO FRESH! Just impeccable fresh veggies. If your looking for a white washed dish, go elsewhere. This is the real deal! Having said that, this place is still truly doomed. Service is a little slow and atmosphere is cheesy (hole in the wall). If they're still around by the time you read this I recommend trying it. It is absolutely worth it! P.s. Avoid the buffet.
