I am so glad I finally went in here! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the area, and there are so many healthy options that you don't have to feel guilty when you leave! As an added rare bonus, there is also a pretty vast selection of vegetarian options. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu out. I went with a friend for Trivia night, and it was fun. The announcer was very friendly, but needs to work on annunciation... we couldn't really understand him most of the time...otherwise we would have won, I'm sure. Just kidding, but really... very mumbly. All in all, a great place!

Good place for cold beer and sports. (4/5) Location is great, middle of Newtown. (4/5) Service is good, servers are efficient and friendly. (4/5) Food: Awful! Really, really bad! (1/5)

This is a review for the bar only I didn't eat here. The bar pretty big with their stock in the middle. Not bad service overall for a busy weekend night. I ordered a Jack on the rocks which I have to say, had a lot of ice in it... the bartender gave a nice strong pour, but just way too much ice. Second drink was much better. There are plenty of large TV's for sports fans, and the do carry UFC fights (huge plus for me). Nice place for a drink, but it is a little pricey.

Potato soup was essentially mashed potatoes with some milk blended in with a pinch of bacon on top. Shephards pie had ground meat - tasted more like hamburger than lamb - a few peas in with the gravy. Mushroom hamburger was good - fries were tasty. Always enjoy Blue Moon on tap.

Basically Applebee's with fancier and more expensive options. Nothing special at all. You're not paying for the food you're paying for the atmosphere, which is just slightly cooler than Applebee's. The bar is a Newtown hotspot on the weekend.

First real summer day of the year, meant I was looking for outdoor seating and some chilled moscato to enjoy. We landed at the Green Parrot despite a yelp search recommending the place across the street. The ambiance at the bar was definitely 40's and 30's locals. There are a ton of tvs all over the place and lots of drinks to choose from. My beau and I opted for the outside seating since we wanted to have dinner. We ordered some wine and then picked the two most random plates. Irish Nachos, which are usually some of my favorite, but here they are made with waffle fries and I pretty much am bias to having them with kettle chips. The toppings were huge, good guacamole, chili, cheese, sour cream. The horseradish gives the chili a strange taste for me, so although I didn't hate these, I didn't love them. The portion is of typical nachos and can easily feed 4 people. The Bangers and Mashed plate was surprisingly my favorite of the night. This is two large chicken apple sausage fire roasted over mashed potatoes and smothered in caramelized onions. I am a sucker for a good mashed potato and if you throw in some caramelized onions, it's a wrap. What I was surprised about was how much I enjoyed the chicken sausage, it had great flavor and felt like a hearty meal. Although I must admit I'm surprised the plate goes for $15. Overall it was nice to sit outside and eat overlooking the street, sadly there is not much people watching going on in Newtown at 9 PM. Overall, I would return and enjoy more of the bar scene, since it seemed pretty lively.

My first time here I found a piece of hair in my duck salad. My 2nd time here, in my cheesesteak eggroll. I've had a lot of friends work here so I don't wanna be too mean, but honestly, they need to lower their prices because the quality of food isn't worth the price. But hey, it's newtown, so I'm sure someone will pay for the food.

Overall, I think the draw of this place is the location and ambiance. Nestled in the heart of Newtown it's in a great location to enjoy the town and grab a drink and food. Service was good. Very prompt and courteous. I didn't find the food to be particularly inspired or amazing. But it was well prepared with great portion size and good taste for being essentially pub food.

Love this place! Great beer selection, food, TV's everywhere and they always have something going on. Having Trotter & 9.75 there last year was awesome, finally got to see the ax man up close! Also love seeing Bobby Lutz while I'm there!!

Stopped by for lunch after a parade. Read the reviews so expectations were realistic. Have to say the service and the food was very good. Excellent Bloody Mary (don't forget a shot of Guinness on top). Corned beef sandwich (aka Rueben) was top notch. Nice covered patio too.

This review is only for the bar area. I have not tried the food yet. Came with a group to watch college basketball. The number and location of televisions was great for tournament season. The waitress was good about taking orders and getting drinks, but did not know or have a bottle beer list. I had a hard time because I drink bottled beer and don't care for domestics. That is my only complaint about our evening. Great location in the heart of Newtown.

Great for what it was. I had the quesadilla, fish tacos, ribs, and nachos. All very tasty. Service was pretty shitty, but I wasn't expecting much for this kind of restaurant. Atmosphere was nice, but a tad bit dark. They had a live band that was playing and that was cool. One issue I had was there were people smoking inside the bar area and it was flowing into the restaurant. Not professional and not legal. So I took one star off for service and one for my lungs. Would I go back? Yes. What I go out of my way to go bacK? No.

Nice location with plenty of parking on the street and in their parking lot in the rear. Great service--friendly and efficient. Nice spacious bar area with a good vibe. They also have covered patio seating that's wonderful when the weather is nice. Green Parrot offers standard bar fare that's a bit uneven. Go for their pizza! That was a huge hit. Spinach dip was meh. So were their wings.

I really liked some of the apps at this place, as well as the environment. Pretty good place to watch the game or to hang out. Some negatives, though, include eh customer service and lackluster classics, such as their burgers.

The Green Parrot is a great place. This bar is fun .... The people are fun ....the atmosphere is terrific ! The service is outstanding and the bartenders couldn't be more friendly . I would have to say the Green Parrot is hands down the best bar to go to in Newtown .

Tried this place the other night after being put off by the huge crowd at Isaac Newtons. The bar is nice, very large, and has a fairly good selection of beers (but cannot compete with Isaac Newtons). We were in the mood for a couple of drinks and a munchie so we chose the Crab Dip to share. The wait was quite short and a large portion of dip (with large chunks of crab) soon arrived with wonderfully warm pita bread. The dip was quite good and quite rich - almost too rich but my beer cut into the taste quite well. The place was not very busy when we arrived at 5:45 but was hopping an hour later. The menu looked good and it will require a return visit.

I'm pretty big into Quizzo and had heard that this place has been having it for a while, so after much anticipation I finally got to check it out. It was crazy at the bar, but somehow we managed to find some seats. Be prepared, this place gets overwhelmingly packed and quite loud, I'm assuming especially on quizzo night. They have a decent selection of beers, some good crafts and lesser known stuff for about average pricing. They had a cider on tap that I'd never heard of, and though I wasn't a fan of it, I'm glad they decided to go for something out of the ordinary for the trendy cider tap. I'd heard a lot about the food being terrible, but I quite liked my black and bleu pizza. It's a white pizza which I can definitely appreciate, but I can see why others might not like the pizza here. It's got a really thick, chewy crust but I don't mind it. I'd say their pizzas will serve about two people, or one extremely hungry person, or hey, even three not so hungry people. Service was alright, but the bartenders seem extremely overworked. Maybe they should look into getting more help for the bar. Good experience overall though, and I'd definitely like to try it again.

Good: laid back atmosphere, cool covered patio, the fact that they had Cachaca (Brazilian Rum), nice waitress and Delicious bruschetta appetizer. Bad: lack of flavor in the fish tacos-both fish itself as well as toppings on it, listing avocado on the menu when it is actually guacamole, overpriced salads. Ugly: the staff looked at us as we walked in like "is there a reason you are here?" We weren't really greeted and had to initiate the welcome ourselves.

I heard there is a new chef so decided to give it another try. Bar area is good, nice atmosphere and bartender was attentive. Food is still awful. Irish nachos had no taste, chicken quesadilla was cold with a fake cheese and dry chicken, no taste. Tuna bites were sub par. They need to get their act together. They brought in a chef from an Italian restaurant but it is Irish food. Still awful.

Cozy, comfy place for a dinner on a cold night. They are very generous with their wine and beer servings also. Food is pretty basic, but tasty.

We had mussels white as an appetizer, they were excellent, but before we even got halfway through them, our entrees were delivered, very rushed. I had the mahi mahi salad which was very good, but differed greatly from what was listed on the menu. Over all, the attention to detail was a little off on this trip. This place needs to find an identity and do it well, not sure if it wants to be an Irish / English pub (great sports bar, excellent beer list), or a global restaurant (entrees of Paella and Jambalaya, Sheperds Pie, pot pie, etc). Go for the beer or bar until they decide what the restaurant should be.

Atmosphere: 85 Service: 80 Beer: 82 Food: 60 Value: 50 OVERALL: (71.4) C- OVERVIEW: Cool atmosphere. Ok service. Decent beer. Sub par food. Bad value. ATMOSPHERE: This place is aesthetically interesting, but clashes with it's own identity a bit. The dining room is pretty fancy; a high brow take on an irish Restaurant. Then the bar is a Irish pub/sports bar combo. Great natural lighting from big windows. Cool communal bar. Oh, and 10 TVs. SERVICE: I'm being nice this time. I didn't have a problem during this visit, but on visits before... man did I deal with some attitude. I wish I could remember the incident fully, but all I can recall is that it was enough to keep me away for a couple years. This time it was fine. BEER: The beer selection is slightly better than average. You have all the usual suspects, but the availability of some locals and craft breweries garners a couple extra points. *Side note* Certain beers are served in the heaviest glass goblets I've ever held. FOOD: On trips before, I have had poor experiences with food and I was really hoping this time would be different. It wasn't. The Shepherd's Pie was underwhelming. It was not served piping hot, as I was hoping. Underneath the mound of orange cheddar, both the potatoes and the meat were under seasoned. The meat itself reminded me of bland meatloaf, which makes me a little suspicious.. because most meatloafs are made of beef... Shepherd's Pie is supposed to be lamb... Now, I'm not the end all/be all golden pallet of taste, but do you see what I am hinting at? Also, the menu is probably too big for them to handle. VALUE: I ordered a $13 menu item titled Shepherd's Pie. I did not want an $8 shepherd's pie (or was it cottage pie?) and a $3 salad. By the way, where'd the remaining $2 go? FINAL THOUGHT: I should have taken the hint by the bar being crowded (First sunday of the NFL season) and the restaurant being empty. This is a glorified sports bar with attempts at upscale pub fare. I'll pass from now on until I hear things change for sure.

While at the Green Parrot on a Friday night, my friend & I chose to eat out on the patio as the weather was nice. The patio was empty, there was nobody else there. I ordered the Philly egg rolls, which were fine, no complaints. My friend also had no complaints about her food but it wasn't anything outstanding. We then took our drinks to the bar. The decor is fine & service was ok. I guess I just felt a little underwhelmed with the place. I feel like there's potential; however, there are just better options close by.

If you like hearing a bunch of old men with money talk about things they've never experienced, this is your place. Filled with cougars, so if you're searching to find a wealthy divorce-ee good bet you can find one. Not impressed with the bar staff, considering how nice the bar is. Didn't eat the food.

I use to love this place. I was there Friday night, however, and things are definitely different. My all time favorite mac and cheese had been destroyed. Much too much sage, and it tasted like plastic -- definitely had a velvetta type taste. Pools of oil and almost no pancetta. So disappointing. Previously I had been with my family, and the older woman at the counter was so sweet, helped my grandma to her table and everything. This time was totally different. The manager (or who ever the guy at the counter in the red sweater was) was kind of short with us when we walked in. Then he had the 16 year old boy seat us somewhere, where we were promptly forgotten. No big deal, Waitress eventually came. We had to ask for the drink menu, which I found to be super odd. The artichoke-spinach dip was incredibly salty. I don't cook with salt so that may have a lot to do with it though. Chips were super stale too. We were never asked if we wanted dessert either. That was sad too. During dinner I saw several people be seated then asked to move by this manager looking guy. That seemed super strange to me as well. The real annoyance was the fact that I was seated directly under the thermostat. The manager looking guy got insanely close to me and was within inches of my head to change the temp. I had to move out of the way. No "excuse me" or anything either. Found that to be distasteful. Use to be one of my favorite places -- food has gone down hill and the service seems to have gotten weird. Will try other places before this one again.

I really wanted to like this place. It's beautiful inside with a huge bar to one side and dining room with a fireplace to the other. The atmosphere is definitely there and everything on the menu looks amazing. We went for the spinach artichoke dip app and chicken Caesar salads for dinner. I'm no chef, but these two dishes are not hard to mess up. The spinach artichoke dip was served lukewarm, a congealed mess of what appeared to be cream-of-something soup with some frozen spinach thrown in (no artichokes to be found). The tortilla chips were almost too salty to eat. The salads were fine, but for $12 I expect more than 5 strips of chicken and croutons strewn across some romaine. Maybe their burger and sandwich game is more on point but if you want good food go to Isaac Newtons and save Green Parrot for watching a big game (awesome TV set up and beer selection in the bar).

Always good food. Tough to decide between the various options. Macaroni and cheese is fantastic. This place gets dinged for service but I've been here probably 10 times visiting on business and it is always pretty good. The food gets the 4 stars.

We stopped in today for lunch , we had a very pleasant waitress who suggested the Southwest salad Mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, red peppers, fire-roasted chicken, sharp cheddar, crisp tortilla strips, creamy chipotle dressing, for my better half and I opted for the fish and chips. Both entrees were very good. They have a very good beer selection which made me very happy. almost forgot the best part, the appetizer, the mini crab cakes were great real crab meat and no filler. We will return , really want to try the jambalaya . No complaints from me...good place.

I love the atmosphere at the Green Parrot, but that's pretty much all I like about it. I'm not on a gluten free diet because it's a new trend, I have Celiac disease and get very ill when I ingest gluten. I made the server aware of this. I ordered a salad with shrimp and no croutons. When it came out, it was covered in croutons. I told the server again that it have celiac disease and can't eat anything that even touches gluten. I asked for a new and asked her (again) to relay the reason for my request to the kitchen. My salad came back out less than a minute later. I was skeptical but it looked ok until my boyfriend say a few stray croutons they missed. Obviously they thought simply removing them from the salad would be enough to appease me. If they are lazy enough that they can't simply make me a new salad I can't imagine what else goes on in that kitchen. I may be back for their cocktails, but I will never take a chance on their food again.

Bad service can kill your visit, regardless of how good everything else is. They killed our visit. Went just after the lunch hour rush, dining room roughly 20 per cent occupied. We waiting for close to 40 mins before our waitress came over to even take our order. Waited another 1/2 hr for a burger and a chicken salad sandwich, and got some real shitty attitude with it. Burger platter came out stone cold. Will not return. Ever. Eff the Green Parrot

We took our little guy for lunch since he's a big fan of their Mac & cheese. He loved it again! They have a great draft beer list and the food was good. I had the salmon BLT which was pretty good. My wife's burger was cooked as ordered and she thought it was good. Service was good and the staff was hustling since it was a busy Friday.

Great food but at times they have crappy service. I have gone here for just the bar and for dinner. The bar clears out by 11 on weekends and the service is very slow. The drinks are great. Try the parrot punch. The food in the restaurant is good but hit and miss with certain items. Stick with the comfort foods.

Aweful food and service left something to be desired. Went here for a late lunch and wasn't sure what to order. They have a lot of bar food type things and then it seems like they try to get exotic with other dishes. Since I couldn't decide, I went with the chicken fingers. Just basic pub food that I thought couldn't go wrong. The fingers were so dry I felt like I was eating leather. How do you mess those up? The fries tasted like they have been sitting around all day too. The spinach dip we had as an appetizer wasn't bad but so disappointed with the fingers. I was going to have the chicken tacos but I am glad I didn't have those too as per a previous post. I might come back for the bar scene but definitely not the food.

We stopped in here for lunch yesterday, and it was a good experience. We had the Philly egg rolls, and they were good, albeit a little greasy. Then we each had salads, the chicken caesar and the steak salad. Both were very good. The steak was cooked perfectly as was the chicken. Service was very good as well. Definitely worth a return visit if we're in the area.

Was looking for a cool place to have dinner with my son on a Friday eve, and we thought a sports bar / restaurant would be great, to catch some college hoop March madness games. The bar / patio were occupied by a large party, so we had to sit in the restaurant area. The restaurant space has a huge brick fireplace smack in the middle of the large room. Interesting, but quite dysfunctional. The "ambience" was lacking: it all seemed very bare, no warmth or vibes. We were seated at a table for two near the wall. The most interesting part of the decor was the open kitchen (but really - the trash cans CAN be hidden from the dining customers). The waitress took a bit of time to stop by, didn't really engage, and quickly asked for our drink selections. If only they arrived as quickly. Quite some time after landing the drinks on our table, she came back to take our order. We wanted to share an appetizer sampler, followed by a pulled pork sandwich platter for my son, and a small Caesar salad for me. It took forever to get the appetizer. FOREVER. And we did not have a chance to enjoy it much, as the main course dishes arrived 5 min thereafter. The appetizer platter consisted of a Philadelphia steak roll (think huge spring roll with a quasi Phila cheese steak stuffing), which my son liked; spicy chickens wings (which were dry and not spicy) and chips with an artichoke spinach dip - which was oily and creamy, but not in a good way - I'll bet anything the "cheese" is one of those processed concoctions. My son said his pulled pork sandwich looked very appetizing: served with a sliver of pickle and French fries. But after eating less than half of it, he said no more, since the sauce was too abundantly sweet and sticky, and was starting to turn is stomach. He settled for the fries. My Caesar was a perfect (small) portion, but that's about it: the croutons looked like old bread smashed with a rolling pin; the Parmesan cheese was barely spared; and the dressing was not the light-colored one, but the greenish-grayish hue.... Simply unappetizing presentation. The restaurant is almost 3 years sold, and I kept wanting to have a meal there since it opened. Looks like I rushed into it. Well, we live and we learn.

I decided to meet up with a friend for drinks on a Saturday and since I'm not all that familiar with Newtown, she suggested the Green Parrot. They had a huge bar which was nice but considering how loud the music was, it was kind of pointless because I could barely hear a word she was saying. I don't have a problem with it normally but 8pm on a Saturday, I feel, is a bit early to be blasting the music like they were a night club. This wasn't particularly my scene either, felt like there a lot of older people their, and kids for some reason. Which for that night was fine seeing that we were just looking to catch up over a drink. I only tried the bruschetta off their menu, if you can even call it that. It was just a huge doughy piece of undercooked bread with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese on it. Pretty bad My biggest gripe with this place is the service. It took forever to get drinks (sitting at the bar!) and the two waitresses were absolutely clueless. Both my tab and my friends tab were severely overcharged. I'm not talking about one or two drinks, but like four rounds of shots, beer, and mixed drinks. It was absurd, especially when I'm sitting by the register with a wine glass in front of me. I mean come on, things like that i find really inexcusable. Don't think ill be back anytime soon.

Great casual dining and food selection. Good for kids and work with you on dietary restrictions (son has dairy allergy).

The food was soso - one person in out party ordered tacos and she had to ask for extras to make the correctly - I order Chicken Marsala and every thing was separated - tones of pasta - two large chicken breasts beside the pasta and Mushrooms in the wine sauce in a separate piile = I have had much better at the Olive Garden. My son did like his meal. They brought the bill and I gave them my credit card. They broughr back the receipt and I signed it designating what the total charge should be, which was OVER 20% tip and when I checked my account two days later I saw that they had UPPED the total charge. So Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, the good. They have a good selection of draft beer, and sell a flight of 4 for $6. The food is good, when it matches the description on the menu. I've been here a few times and so far I've only seen pizza and the club sandwich served to match what the menu stated. The fish tacos are another story. Apparently their chef's definition/interpretation of baja slaw is lettuce, tomato, and red onions. Funny, I thought it was cabbage based. The menu also fails to mention what sides come with the sandwiches. It's a bit of a crap shoot as to what you'll get. I have had a few experiences now where the sandwiches come out as whatever the kitchen felt like serving rather than what the menu described. Overall, the bar is nice but be careful if you order any food - you never know for sure what you'll get. The front of the house staff is friendly and efficient. The back of the house is where this restaurant falls short.

Food ranges from bad (all of their sandwiches) to OK (Philly Steak Eggrolls). Staff is friendly. Clean interior. Decent atmosphere. Lots of parking. Nice beer selection. Still, I don't see why you'd go here instead of Isaac Newton's, which is across the street and a block or two down.

I have been a patron of the Green Parrot for the past few years. The staff is always welcoming and the bartenders are excellent. With the recent addition of a new chef, there have been some exciting menu changes, specials and consistently very good food. The Parrot the best place to go in Newtown!

I've been to the Green Parrot, which I think is supposed to have an Irish Pub atmosphere, about 5 or six times. Each time, I've been impressed with the food. There is a lively bar facing Sycamore Street and a large quieter dining room behind it. I'm always surprised by the food quality because folks who typically frequent funfoodanddrinkery joints generally aren't fussy about food provided there is lots of it and it's fried. The menu has been refined over time; some of their offerings were a bit too esoteric. They dropped the lovely Scotch Eggs, and that's too bad but I suspect only dedicated watchers of the British version of "The Office" had any clue what's in a Scotch Egg. Anyhow, a while back I had the pizza here and was stunned by its quality; it was time for an official pie tasting visit. Each pizza is a very generous personal size -- more than anyone under 200 pounds could easily finish. One thing I don't like is that only about two of the several pizza offerings are true pizzas; the rest go off into that unfortunate trend of pies defined by their toppings, instead of the essential base of crust, tomato, cheese. As a purist, I chose the traditional pie with aged mozzarella and topped with sausage. (Fellow enthusiast for eating pizza) FEEP Jr. is more avant garde, and upon assurance that it was not "too spicy," went with the "black and bleu" pie combining several cheeses (and bleu of course), no red sauce, and blackened chicken. Naturally, we each tasted some of both pies. Both pies came on a very nice Neapolitan crust -- soft and puffy, but not insubstantial. It also had a satisfying chewiness and a lovely char. Not the magic you'd find at Forcella or Motorino, but easily (far and away) the best pizza crust in Bucks County PA, and in fact better than all but 3 or 4 places in Trenton, right across the river. FEEP Jr.'s pie had excellent balanced flavors. The chicken was not blackened at all and was even a tad bland, and I would have liked more bleu cheese to stand out, but overall a fine if untraditional pie. My traditional pie had that same crust, and the cheese on top was ordinary in flavor but cooked to a nice golden brown. The sausage was spicy and terrific. The sauce probably started out very nice, but someone put in too much oregano. WAY too much oregano, which overpowered all the other flavors. I still enjoyed the pie due to the excellent crust and the way it was cooked, but this was the first screwup from the kitchen at GP in my experience. Is this destination pie? Kinda. I wouldn't travel from Queens or West Chester for this pie, but it's easily the best between Philly and Trenton. If you are anywhere in lower Bucks, yes it is worth the trip. The black and bleu pie gets an 8. The traditional pie with sausage gets a 6.5. It would have been an 8 without the oregano excess. This place is serving up some well-crafted grub and it's nice to see it crowded each time I visit. I am Pizza Quixote!

I sat down in a big comfortable booth and looked into a big open kitchen, I expected something great. Afterall, open kitchens are open for a reason, right? No. Actually, every cook was hanging out, talking, eating and drinking casually, as the food was prepared. The kitchen looked dirty even from 100 feet away. Management shrugged my comments off. That was not surprising. The parrot has the reputation of a restaurant that does not care. Great atmosphere and location for a great pub. This just falls way short. Too bad.

The Good: Atmosphere, decor and location. TV's everywhere and a nice bar. Friendly, attentive bartenders. Large selection of draft beers. Quizzo is fun. The Bad: Apps were horrible. Blackened Tuna Bites tasted like they were just pulled out of the freezer, Philly Egg Rolls were greasy and Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip was mediocre at best. We were planning on splitting a entree but decided to pass after trying the apps. Tap beer wasn't great either. Needs to be colder. Also, liquor prices were a bit high for location. Stopped in a few years ago when they first opened. Food was bad than but that's to be expected when a place opens. Unfortunately, not much has changed in the food department. Would only go back for beers and Quizzo.

I'm from Newtown so this is basically my neighborhood bar. For me this is mainly a place to have some drinks and watch sports but still the food is pretty good (although not great). The burgers are actually very good comparing to any other place. The place has three areas. One is the bar area which has a large number of good quality flat screen TVs, a large bar and a few tables. This is the heart of the place and has all the "action". It is relatively noisy and has a bar atmosphere. There's a dining room which is large and quiet and has practically no TV. It is very cosy and there's a nice view to a semi-open kitchen area. The 3rd area is a patio which has TVs and is a sort of a combination of the other two areas. The good: - nice selection of beers - food is good (although they should improve some specific dishes) - good atmosphere - plenty of parking in the nearby lot or on the street The not-so-good: - Bar area gets too loud sometimes - Need a better selection of appetizers and small dishes that go along with your drink if you don't want to order "real" food - service in the bar area can be a bit slow at week nights. Overall I recommend this place. If you're just looking for a place to have lunch or dinner I guess there are better places but as I said, for this is mainly a sports bar and as such it is pretty good.

Someone asked me about this place today and I remembered one particularly disappointing dish I got - some type of chicken fajitas or soft tacos. They were watery and had no flavor. My husband got fish tacos and it was the same thing.

I decided to stop in after a long drive and as i was quite hungry I was desperate for a decent meal. I went right into the bar room, which was adorned with flat screens playing the Phillies game. Anyway, I ordered the honey lime chicken with a house salad with pineapple dressing, which was rather on the sweet side. The main entree however was incredibly good as the spanish rice went very well with the honey/lime flavored chicken. The young lady serving me was pleasant and the food did not take too long. Unfortunately I did not get to scope out the rest of the joint. It looks nice and classy from the outside and the inside has a very typical after work/sports bar feel to it. Most importantly the food was very good and for the price (around $20) was a very good value.

March 16th, charging a $5 cover to go to bar at 3pm because of St. Patrick's Day. Not even trying to go to the outside tent, the whole bar! Ridiculous.

You walk into the restaurant and to the left is the bar and adjacent to the bar is a patio where they have live music (I have no idea what the schedule is).. The dining area is on the right with booths and tables. The service is friendly, although a bit slow each time. We have eaten here a few times and enjoyed each meal. The salads are good, could be improved with better greens (the Mahi salad), the fries are made in a dedicated fryer so the kids were able to enjoy them and they were good. Kids had a turkey burger (which my daughter loved) and ribs (they are not fall off the bone ribs but the sauce was good). The manager always stops by and is friendly and always willing to talk about ingredients and preparation of the menu. They carry Redbridge, Estrella (which is the best gf beer in my opinion) and a gf cider (which the mgr brought me a glass of and is good, would probably hit the spot on a hot day). I look forward to hearing some music on their patio sometime soon. I am not sure why all the negative reviews, I would recommend it.

Aside from appetizers I have yet to eat here, I would not recommend the Nachos but everything else is alright. In terms of being a bar The Green Parrot is a place to grab a drink or two but not a meat market. Depending on the Bartender you it is possible to get a stiff Jack and Water. There is a decent crowd on weekends and The Bartender's are usually quick to serve. It's nice to go in the summer when the doors in the bar area are open.

Nice building. Waiter service at the enclosed patio tables was not very good (it was Friday night, but still). They needed more staff to work the room. A college-age/ under-25 crowd. The green parrot fries were covered with old bay. They were supposed to come with cheese, but the cheese was laying on the bottom of the plate with a tiny cup of the same white cheese on the side. The supposed cheese had the consistency of the liquid on the top of a yogurt container. Not cohesive or anything like cheese I've experienced. For the well-off neighborhood, they really need to seek out more of an adult crowd. If I want clubbing, I would go downtown.

Being an out-of-towner, I didn't know what to expect from this place but I was pleased. Pros: - Food was decent(try the Philly steak spring rolls) - Service was good - Quickly got a table on a Friday night - Patio Cons: - you could be at any bar in anytown, USA. - Parking blows on the weekend. For Newtown. Forget the low scores, go once and try it.

This long-awaited into the long suffering world of restaurant offerings and something reasonably priced in the Newtown area is an abysmal dissapointment. The wait staff is more interested in looking around to see which of their friends are there than in actually waiting tables and in earning a decent tip as a result. Food orders took forever and were very dissapointing. The cheesesteak spring rolls sounded promising, but were ghastly. My salad, which was supposed to be entree size left me hungry, as it was more than skimpy in the chicken that was supposed to be topped onto the salad, and the size was more like you'd get as a starter salad in any other restaurant. The prices are too high for the quality and service. Unless there are some changes here, I can't imagine how this place will survive, because everyone I have spoken to about this place has the same opinion (if not worse) than mine.

I had not read the reviews of this place until after my wife and I ate there last week and I must say that I'm glad that I did not since we enjoyed ourselves so much. We went there on a thursday evening and the restaurant was full yet no wait. The ambiance of the place was that of an upscale sports bar. The bar itself was very lively with live music and an energentic crowd. Despite the number of people in the bar area and the live music, there was no noise spill over into the restaurant maning it easier for us to talk. We had the philly cheesesteak spring rolls and lettuce wraps for the appitizer and I must say that while the spring rolls were very good, the lettuce wraps were less so. They were good but I felt that there was not enough lamb and I did not like that the lettuce leaves were not peeled off of the head. For our entree we both had salads. I had the blackened mahi mahi salad and the portion size was quite large. The quality was very high and the service was good. The wine list is reasonable with a decent selection of wines by the glass. Looking forward to taking friends there soon.

Like everyone else in this general area, I was excited to see a new place open up that might be an alternative to Isaacs (which I love, actually, but variety is nice). This place was really dissapointing. THe decor looked very clean but was sterile hunter green, think mid-80's-country-club. The flat screens are nicely positioned, and there is a large bar with a lot of room around which are positives. The first time I went here, it was happy hour on a Thursday with my girlfriends. The crowd was averaging about 43 years old if I had to guess. The apps that we ordered were pretty greasy, and the tortilla chips that came with our spinach dip were hella stale. Their beer selection was respectable, however. The second time I went was for lunch and much less impressive. My manager and I ordered salads, which were huge because of the abundance of field greens, but the fun stuff that they put on it was sparse. I don't think our waitress had ever waitressed before, and she seemed to struggle through the whole experience. When thinking about where I want to go in Newtown, this place never makes my list.

We went there the other night and was truly disappointed. The best thing the place had going for it was the beer list, which was decent. The service was poor at best and the food was over-cooked and dripping with oil. The only reason we went because my wife had a good meal there the other day. Maybe we caught it on an off night, but I am not rushing back.

I agree with Noah r 100%. it seems like the staff have no clue how to wait tables and it appears like high school kids are running the place. Is this a Irish Pub or a Ice Cream Parlor? It took forever to get our food and when it did come it wasn't cooked the way we asked (burger and steak both were WELL done). Not a great first impression. On a side note: The place is nice looking. I'll give a star for that.

I've been here a few times when visiting friends from high school. It's really not my scene, very drinkersesque. Most recently I went on Thanksgiving Eve so of course it was packed. Parking in that shopping center is a nightmare. The main bar area was packed and hot, but we managed to find some space in the back area that they enclose in the winter. Some other friends showed up later, but they were told they had to wait in a line for 45 minutes?!?! That was really unnecessary because it wasn't that crowded. One of my friends asked for some water and she was told she had to buy a bottle which was pretty ridiculous. I'm not sure that's legal, and even if it is, it's definitely bad form. I had a plastic cup of warm bud light, and then left because our other friends didn't want to wait in line out in the cold. I hear good things about the pizza so maybe I'll stop by for lunch sometime.

We decided to try happy hour at the Green Parrot and enjoyed sitting out on the covered patio off of the bar. We were warmly greeted and ordered all the appetizers on the happy hour menu at a mere $ 6 dollars a piece. We also tried the drink special which changes daily. Tuesday was Sweet Tea Vodka with whatever mixer you like at $5.00. This changes daily and beer on tap is greatly reduced for the Happy Hour that starts at 5 and ends at 7. We picked lemonade to mix with our Vodka and settled back to watch 5 flatscreen TV screens until we got our huge order of appetizers. The best by far is the pizza COOKED IN A WOODBURNING OVEN.....Wonderful! definetly coming back for more. Philly Steak filled eggrolls large the size of a burrito cut into 4 pieces was a close runner up with sauteed peppers and a squiggle of ketchup on the plate. Potstickers a little mushy and the sauce at first yummy quickly became way too salty. It is mostly sweetened soy sauce and good in small doses. The dumpling were in a soup bowl with a good inch of sauce. I found the artichoke dip to be too pasty. The flour needed to be cooked more so you didn't have such a gluey consistency. This is served with plain tortilla chips but we spread it on the pizza crust. I like the flavor just not the consistency. Quesadilla was very good filled with portobello mushrooms, black beans ,corn and peppers and tasty cheese. A very good choice but if it was served with a tomato base salsa instead of the mango salsa that was screaming for salt and a little acid it would have been killer. The buffalo wings have me baffled......Why was the meat so tough? It appeared to be cooked through,no red by the bone but it was very chewy tough meat. The wings come in 3 different sauces and our hot sauce that we picked wasn't very ho at all. We would not chance ordering them again. As 6 o'clock rolled around the crowd filtered in to catch the specials that ends at 7. Nice decor, friendly quick waitstaff.Great happy hour and I will be back tp try the regular menu.

We stopped by here on a whim without reading Yelp's reviews, which are largely spot-on, and got our just desserts. This popular sports bar's restaurant has pleasant surroundings and an open kitchen in a single large room. So far, so good, but after 8 PM there was intrusive commentary or some contest coming from a megaphone or speakers at the adjacent bar. Excellent appetizers got our hopes up. But my filet mignon, though thankfully cooked medium-rare as asked, was an utterly tasteless insult to the poor cow and incompletely trimmed with some tendons -- arguably the worst such steak I've ever had. My wife's jambalaya, fairly good as is, would have been better if it hadn't been compromised by greasy spiced sausage. Only two (!) verbally offered dessert choices, both unimaginative and mediocre, tho the Irish coffee was absolutely first-rate -- possibly as good as I've ever had in Greater Philadelphia. There is something to an Irish-themed bar, after all. A good wine list, but the bottle was opened upon arrival without so much as showing either of us the label and served, glug, glug, to the brim with no tasting. Nice touches for a $69 bottle. Still, there were patrons aplenty, so the local investors that created the place must know what they're doing. But for us, paying $165 with tip for this was a travesty when for substantially less we get really fine food at the Summer Kitchen six minutes away.

I'm not sure why the low ratings, but this place is pretty decent. I've been coming since the beginning of 2011. The Fried Mozzarella is awesome - the tomato sauce that is served with it has capers in it! Yum! Club Salad - my fav lunch option. Bordeaux Salad is the wife's fav - duck salad served over what looks like a Naan or airy Pizza dough. Oh yeah! The Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip was great too!

I'm a local at this bar. That being said...I'm a local at the bar, not the restaurant. The food is mediocre at times and the menu doesn't change often. However, the bar is great! If the Parrot had a smaller & fresher foodie menu, it would make this place absolutely perfect. Aside from the food, it's by far the best place to watch sports in Newtown.

I would say this restaurant is very hit or miss....just be careful what you order. The pub food is very good...the wings and burgers are great, the pizza is just ok. However, my family has not had a very good experience with other entrees. The mac and cheese had maybe 10 noodles and was basically a cheese soup. The chicken pot pie was a chicken stew served with a biscuit...that is NOT chicken pot pie. And to top it off the fish tacos had bones still in them...very dangerous. If you happen to frequent The Green Parrot stick to basic pub food!

I've given this place a lot of tries and the food always sucks EXCEPT on st. patty's day when I went there and got the corned beef hash and it was awesome! The happy hour is from 5-7 and it's $2 domestic drafts (and some other drink specials depending on the day of the week). It's decent for drinks (the bar is huge) but I wouldn't go there for food ever again.

It's a shame the my first time there ended up being a bad experience. The place was pretty crowded. My wife and I ordered Nachos and Stuffed Mushrooms along with drinks at the bar. An hour later, they bring us these 4 things that looked like potato puffs. They said they were stuffed mushrooms. I at one and realized they were crab cakes. Hint to anyone interested-- their crabcake appetizers are the size of mushrooms and there's only 4 little guys. We waited a bit more until we were told they ran out of nachos. An hour later and we're starving. Ran out of nachos? Isn't that like running out of beer? What kind of place is this? We canceled our order and left. No food. They didn't seem to care. The excuse was that they were too busy. I did see nachos going out as we were leaving and questioned it. I was told they put their order in first. Who would wait over an hour for just nachos. Seriously. I'm glad we finally went there and we can write this place off. I would blame it on poor management. We got what we needed at the Firkin Tavern who seemed to have the right beers and great appetizers. No problem there.

I was there on a Saturday night to meet friends for drinks and dinner. We did not stay for dinner. The bar is big and cavernous, and lacking in personality. Seems like the only requirements for being an Irish pub are dark wood accents and bartenders wearing ties with tiny shamrocks - enough with labeling every new bar as "irish"! Beer selection was meh so I went with an Amstel Light - they charged $5 for less than a pint. I know they just opened, and the town needs some new restaurants, but you could drop this place in any mall or shopping center in the US and it would feel at home. Aside from the obligatory Phillies '08 world series gewgaws it has no personality.

AWFUL. This bar has no personality. A prior review stated that you could be at any bar in anytown, usa here and thats completely true. I sat at a booth across from the open kitchen. No joke, the person cooking (it would be a joke to use the term chef here) downed about 4-5 martini's while making food being served to our table and a few surrounding tables. He looked absolutely shitfaced. The food is comparable to what you would get at a TGIF's-- in my opinion, that means it's edible, but certainly not good, but to each their own--thats really secondary considering the behavior described above-- this place is a disgrace. Shame on you Green Parrot. The real losers here are the Newtown, PA residents who are still left without a decent bar that has average to above average food... for that you need to head to pineville tavern in wrightstown or continental tavern in yardley.

Just moved back to the area, thought we'd try it out. Ordered mussels in white sauce, fish and chips and the BBQ chicken pizza. Mussels appetizer took almost 30 minutes to appear, and tasted/looked as if they had been cooking that entire time. The sauce itself was very good, just that the mussels had no meat left in them. The fish and chips and pizza were really good, but I had been waiting for almost an hour at that point so might have just been the hunger talking. Our bartender Wayne was very nice and we will go back and try it again.

Expensive, boiled, flavorless burgers. When you consider that you can get an amazing burger in Philly for $5 at 500 Degrees or a great pub burger at Moriarty's or Good Dog for $8 or $9 it's obscene to pay almost $10 for a bad burger.

opened April 15. what a nigh mare. granted it takes some time to organise, but come on people. The food is basic and nothing special. 15 minutes after we ordered our drinks the server came back to tell us they were out of mint and couldn't make our drinks. The service is rookies at best. It took us 2 hours to get our order of 2 burgers that were both not cooked as ordered. The side of fries was minimal and many of the fries were broken up into mini bites? I come from the restaurant business and I am the first one to be forgiving. However, it is evident the front and back of the restaurant is completely run by high school kids. It was so bad, I did not even complain to the on duty manager as he looked beat up from the numerous complaints. Wake up, you are in "up town newtown", bad news travels much quicker then good news." it was not too hard to notice the 1,700 SQ feet available next door for from the pretzel place that only made it 30 days. Id hate to see over 4,000 SQ ft available. Unfortunately, The Green Parrot better chirp up quick or it will be joining the ranks of For Sale By Owner quickly.

I really want to like this place, and the bar is not that bad. The beer selection is decent, but the food is very inconsistent. Service is spotty as well, and generally pretty slow. If you are going for a few beers, you will be fine. If you are going for dinner, there are better choices in the immediate area.

Ok apparently I'm alone in my opion of the place but I liked it! I had no problems with the service I admit the wait was about an hour for a table but it was saturday night and I just went to the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and I didn't have any trouble ordering my drinks. Once seated our waitress came right over and checked on us and went over the menu. Order an app and some pasta which didn't take long to come out. The pasta was amazing exactly what I ordered and really hit the spot. After dinner I met a group of friends at the bar and even though the bar was full we found room along one of the walls. There was a shelf to put my drink on and some people even ate there once again they got what they ordered. Now I'm not from Newtown but the few places I have eaten at I would say the green parrot is better than most there. They have a great beer selection (no Issac Newtons) good food, great atmosphere, and great location!

Went there last Thursday, the food was sooo much better than my last visit which was probably over a year ago. Josh, our waiter, was very polite and seemed like he enjoyed his job. That was not the case with the waitress we had before. After this visit, I will definitely go back again.

Went here on a summer afternoon for some cocktails and food. We wanted to sit on the patio so we could be outside. They sat us by the window at pub height seating. The problem with seating was the table was a makeshift pub style table that they put a table cloth over to cover. The regular stools that went with it were unable to to fit under the table, therefore our legs didn't not fit and they only way to relax was to lean against the window sill. My boyfriend didn't mind this since he was able to lean and watch the games on tv. It was horrible for me. In order to eat I had to bend all the way forward. The food was very tasty and they have you a lot for appetizers. We had the seafood bruschetta and the hummus. Hummus was great! Awesome serving with the feta and roasted peppers on the side. Didn't realize it came with so much. I pretty much could of eaten the seafood bruschetta as a meal because it was perfectly filling. We also got pulled pork and a roasted pork. While my pulled pork came overflowed, my boyfriends roasted pork barely filled his roll. The service was ehh. Waitress not very friendly at all. Felt like she don't even want to be bothered serving. Would go baking again and sit at a normal table so I could eat more comfortably

So the gist of my review is my sister and I will never go back to the Green Parrot after continuously neglectful and just awful service there. I'm giving it 2 stars only because their food is okay and the actual place is nice and big with a fun atmosphere. I'd also like to add that I never write bad or long reviews on yelp, but this place deserves it for repeatedly poor service. The details of our last visit (which are very similar to our few other visits) go like this: My sister, friend, and I sat at one of the outside tables and the waitress finally came up to us after about 5 minutes to ask for our drink order. We asked for the menus to check out the wine and specialty cocktails so she grabbed some, dropped them off, and walked away without saying anything. We figured out what drinks we wanted but had to wait another 10 minutes or so before our waitress returned. I got a cucumber cocktail and they both got wine. Our waitress dropped their wines off about 10 minutes later without my drink. I figured it was just taking long because she was waiting to bring everything with my cocktail. My drink came in about another 5 minutes and she dropped it by my arm before I even noticed it was there without saying a word to us or trying to take our dinner order, which we had decided on about 10 minutes ago. We waited another 20 minutes before finally waving her down to take our food order. She didn't even apologize for taking so long and obviously if we have to wave you down to take our order, we've been ignored a while. And once again, she didn't smile or interact. She just seemed miserable and the three of us were nothing but nice and friendly to her the entire time. When our food was ready, a runner brought it out. She was also miserable and totally rude. She announced the one plate and asked who had it and we pointed to our friend. She didn't respond then asked who got the other dish and i said me. She practically threw the plates at us and walked off. We finished our first drinks sometime during the meal and wanted another as we planned to go out for drinks this night and intended on staying after eating for another drink at the bar. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get our waitress to even look in our direction to order more drinks. The entire night she was breaking down tables and moving chairs instead of checking to make sure her customers were doing alright. When she walked in and out of the outside where we were seated, she would look away from our table as if to intentionally ignore us. Also, all the noise she was making the whole time she was breaking down the tables created a very unrelaxing dining experience (not to mention, we were already totally annoyed with our experience because of her awful service). After about 10 minutes of wanting to order another drink, she finally came back outside and the 3 of us all waved at her. She looked at us and shouted "WHAT?" from across the room to us. As if we should shout back to her. When we didn't yell back to her, she walked over to us, still looking completely miserable. I asked what beer was on tap and she had no idea so she grabbed a beer menu for me. I ordered one and my sister ordered another glass of wine. She brought my beer, but not my sister's wine. After another 5 minutes of breaking down the damn tables, she turned to my sister and asked if she still owed her a wine. She did, so she left to go get it. We once again had to wave her down to ask for the bill. We were paying with a card and had to sit and wait for her to take it for literally another 15 minutes. We were finally about to go to the front desk of the restaurant to pay the bill when she finally came back outside to take it. We thought she would have at least smiled and been on time when it came to give us our bill, but she was still miserable and no where to be seen. She could have gotten a great tip and racked up the bill with us getting drinks if she had been even slightly more attentive. She also lost the bar business because we all just wanted to leave immediately after this horribly aggravating ordeal. So overall, the food is pretty good. The cocktails are ok but overpriced. The actual bar/restaurant itself is great. But the service is simply THE WORST. It really just cancels out anything good about this place because you can't enjoy your time there. I would not recommend the Green Parrot!

Not really ever impressed with the menu. Cheesesteak egg rolls are alway good. Fish tacos.. Eh. I guess a good place to get a burger. Bar is huge with no space for people around it... Weird. Probably wouldn't go here for dinner just standard bar food.

The clam chowder I had was possibly the saltiest thing I've ever had. My wife had the potato soup and it was equally salty. I had the chicken panini and guess what. Salty. The fries were also obnoxiously salty. My wife had the beef tip sandwich and although it looked good it was very salty. This place is salty.

I've been a fan for a while. Great bar area and food has always been so-so. I can understand on high volume nights there may not be as much attention to detail or hospitality, but when you have 2 bartenders on and half of the bar - is there any service training or do we not care because it's Newtown? I don't know what they're doing, but something needs to change. Both bartenders looked absolutely miserable and weren't attentive at all. The gentleman bartender did NOT want to be working there, and just made my sister and I feel like we were a bother by being there. One table was so frustrated with lack of service they had to walk up to the bar to place their food order because the bartender didn't feel like making their way around the bar. I would recommend a manager on sight at all times. Terrible customer service. This is a pretty thick pocketed area, if you were nicer and had proper hospitality skills... You could really enhance the tips on your checks. Also, the food. It wasn't amazing before. But the pizza sauce tastes like canned prego and cheese that may as well be plastic. I really am not someone to write yelp reviews, and this place has been around for a while now... I just feel if they worked on their staff's hospitality skills first and foremost... They could really be an awesome place.

Went there because they have the NFL ticket and wanted to watch my out of market team game and drink some brews. Oh not all the 1:00 games are able to be on; "you need to get here early to ensure your game is on". This place tries to be a "sports bar" but half the TV's are on local team (makes sense) but missing 3 of the 1:00 games.....BS! Another negative, TV's mounted way too high....#neck pain. Other than that the beer list is decent.

Please, Green Parrot, you spent money on your interior and it looks nice. However, your tables are sticky!!! It is really disgusting to sit down to a table that feels like it is dirty. The server explained that there was a problem with the table finish, but please, that is no excuse! We moved to a booth, which was a little better, but not completely free of whatever is going on with the tables. Both my husband and I had the chicken panini. It was dry, stale and tasted more like something along the line of a reheated frozen sandwich. The chicken tasted processed, like a giant tough chicken tender, except preformed to the perfect shape. Not good! There are two stars only because the server was so nice!

A great place to meet up with friends and grab a meal and some drinks. The ribs and crab cakes are my favorite. I have never had a bad time there and the service is very friendly. The only negative I have is parking is a premium especially on a Friday or Saturday night. It is kid friendly!
