Being as though I have been hearing about the legendary Goodnoe's for many years now, I was excited to see the resurgence. We go here from time to time but it is not my first choice for ice cream in the area for two reasons. 1. The atmosphere and decor in the place are bloody awful. Nothing but bare, stark white walls and a really high ceiling that causes a cavernous echo. The tables are chintzy and everything just feels boring and uncomfortable. 2. The ice cream is far from premium quality. It tastes okay but it's loaded with the gums and fillers you find in average grocery store brands. When you are paying premium prices, you should expect premium quality. Maybe if the place was fun to go to and had some charm to it, the lower quality ice cream wouldn't be so annoying. But with these two strikes against the place, as well as the many competitors in the area, I see little reason to go here other than the fact that people are still enamored by the name.

I am not a Newtown native. My husband, however, grew up going to the Goodnoe restaurant and insisted that this was the best ice cream "ever." Every ice cream shoppe we go to he makes sure we compare it to here. I have to say, they really are awesome. This is a small, family business that is incredibly clean and well kept. You will be assaulted with the delicious odor of fresh baking waffles or cookies once you step in the door. The ice cream selections are pretty good. They have a plethora of peanut butter (chipple, chip, and ripple) flavors but are a bit lacking on the coffee ones (only plain coffee and expresso explosion). Portions are generous, staff is consistently nice and overall I have never had a bad night here. Sometimes I pick up a pre-packed pint for the family (or quart, depending on if I was having houseguests) to bring home. One of their selling points is that they pack "true" pints/gallons which are bigger than average. Yes, Newtown does have a ton of good ice cream but this is still the original and probably one of the best.

Definite disappointment when I came back here to "the best ice cream restaurant" of all in bucks. But I guess I was silly to think nothing would change about Goodnoes. It appears they've sold out not only their historic restaurant to "keep up with the jone's"- or yuppies i'd like to call them; but their quality is certainly not the same since I was a kid. Sad they had to be torn down to a strip mall of crappy businesses.

First of all I have to say I love their Peanut Butter Ripple Ice Cream!!!! No matter what form it's in( milkshake, sundae, or just as a plain scoop that flavor is my favorite! I do however miss the old the old Goodnoe's. I wish this location had a diner like it did in the past. I do enjoy the ice cream too. Staff is friendly, but the store itself is understaffed. I came into the store around 2 in the afternoon, and the store had one employee with a line out the door. I was second line, so I didn't wait long. The one staff member was working slowly on the ice cream order ahead of mine. The staff member finished with the first order and started on mine. She was still slowly putting together when complaints from the customers behind me started to occur. Goodnoe's is definitely the place for ice cream, but they need to hire more staff!

I grew up in Newtown, and Goodnoe was the coolest place in town. More than a diner, more than an ice cream parlor, this place was as much a part of Newtown culture as was any other establishment. I was saddened to hear the original place was torn down a few years ago, making room for a bland, ultra-commercial and faux-chic strip center. But I'm glad that their ice cream has survived at a small, yet charming "dairy bar" on Sycamore St.. And even though my experience was probably influenced by nostalgia, I'm going to suggest you give them a try. I had a couple of scoops of chocolate marshmallow, and it was super, as was the friendly staff and the small town appeal. Convenient parking in the front, and although the seating area isn't very spacious, it's still very comfortable. Goodnoe is still my favorite: highly recommended.

Goodnoes is the perfect neighborhood ice cream parlor! The mint chocolate chip ice cream is amazing, probably the best I have ever had!

My favorite place for ice cream and so glad they're back. Ice cream's just as delicious as it was at the old restaurant. Service has been prompt each time I've been in. Great deal too. "One scoop" is huge. My favorite is the peanut butter cup.

Delicious, more flavor choices than I expected, and no Ice crystals to ruin the texture. There were only two guys working and they were doing their best to keep up with the crowd. The setup behind the counter is pretty inefficient - the guys were running around in circles a lot because things weren't in convenient places. Something for the managers to think about...

This place is only around because of it's name. I feel like that's the only thing going for it. My wife got the brownie supreme sundae with "warm" brownies. The brownies weren't warm at all. My chocolate chip sundae with "fresh baked" cookies had two beige rocks at the bottom that were speckled with what appeared to be chocolate chips. Not at all the nostalgic place or ice cream I grew up having as a kid. Glad they could use their name to charge $8 for a bad sundae.

Really disappointing experience. There is no way they are "making their own" ice cream here -- my strawberry was clearly dyed bright pink, frost bitten, and lackluster. This used to be my go-to ice cream place, but I haven't been in a year or so. Clearly things have changed...not for the better. Sad.

My high school experience was punctuated by evening and late night trips to Goodnoe's Restaurant for ice cream. I was sad when it closed, but am thrilled that they at least brought back the ice cream. My husband and I stopped in on a whim on a Saturday afternoon. For that time of day, I was pleasantly surprised that it was fairly busy. It's an easy to access location -- easy in, easy parking, easy out. I had the peanut butter chipple (I don't think I have ever had it before -- it was awesome!) on a cone and my husband had cookies and cream. No complaints -- even the teenage staff, while not particularly friendly, was tolerable and efficient. Did I mention that they still serve the Atomic Sundae!?! So happy to see that. Even though I have never had one myself, it was a staple for some of my hungrier dates back in that high school era!

I always enjoyed going to Goodnoe's as a special treat when I was a kid, so I had high expectations when trying this version. I came away pretty disappointed. It wasn't bad ice cream, it just wasn't anything special either. I was surprised at the limited flavor choices. I settled on Chocolate Marshmallow, but to be honest it just tasted like chocolate. If there was something marshmallow in it, it was indiscernible and added nothing to the flavor. Service was lackluster and the atmosphere inside and outside the place is just terrible. We went and sat in the car eventually and I ditched my cone without finishing it. I can't believe that the Goodnoe Family sold off all that land, probably made millions of dollars, and left themselves with this piddling place to carry on the Goodnoe tradition. It's sad really. And there are certainly other nearby places to get better ice cream. I can't say that I plan on returning.

This is the best place to get ice cream while you're in Bucks County, PA. That is called the Goodnoe Farm Dairy Bar in Newtown, PA. With great variety and selections of ice cream flavors which is fresh and homemade everyday and also a great selection of sundaes and specialties as well. They also sell half-gallons and pints of flavors to buy and take home as well. The Ice Cream is excellent and delicious. I've been coming to Goodnoes when I always visit my relatives in Bucks County, PA from the old location in Newtown which was the Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor and now to the current location which is now only just the Ice Cream Parlor as in the same town that is Newtown. This is one of the best places to get ice cream while you're in Bucks County, PA in Newtown. I will always come back to Goodnoes when I visit my relatives in Bucks County, PA.

Was just in there today (May 4) and enjoyed the ice cream. It's a little pricey, but what isn't nowadays? The guy behind the counter was very personable. He explained that his father owned the original Goodnoe's on the corner. He also told us the help he had is no longer there, so those of you complaining about the help should go back and give them another try.

The ice cream is good but the service is horrible! Teenagers talking about what is going on in their life. There was one customer ahead of me with two employees on duty. After 10 minutes of waiting, I just left. There are other choices for ice cream.

This is a newish and cute old school ice cream spot in Newtown. I can see why this family's dairy business has thrived in this area. Old fashioned flavors and a good cream content would keep me coming back. My aunt loved the rum raisin, which is not a flavor that you see very often these days. I had chocolate and cookie dough topped with hot fudge that came free with a check in( thanks yelp app!)I enjoyed mine also. Prices and portions are also old school, and the servers were numerous and friendly. Newtown is lucky to have a traditional place such as this. And I imagine that families in the area will come here and foster an appreciation of this sort of simple pleasure in their offspring. How can you not be a fan of that? Goodnoe for me, 4 frosty Yelps

I just stopped in for a cup of Peanut Butter Cup. What I got was a cup of chocolate ice cream with one speck of peanut butter. I've lived in Newtown for a while. I remember going to the old Goodnoe's and getting 1 scoop and it being a giant serving. Now 1 scoop is one tiny scoop - heck mine was so small it didn't even contain any peanut butter! They also only had a few plain flavors at the time and this is the middle of summer. You can tell they are cutting corners.

Excellent ice cream but the place is dirty. As my daughter and I were eating upstairs, I couldn't help but notice the dust bunnies attached to the ceiling tiles. Also the place needs to be painted. The walls are marked everywhere and the paint is chipped all over. Really good ice cream but come on guys, clean it up a little.

I loved this place when it was more of a dinner and I would meet friends for breakfast, lunch and diner. I'm thrilled they came back even as just an dairy barn shop because you can't beat the taste and quality of their locally produced ice cream. A real Newtown treasure for all ages.

First, the ice cream is great. Its natural ingredients. Now how do I know???From my allergies. If it has junk in it, it makes me sick and I love ice cream. This ice cream always agrees with me.....and my hips are proof of that. My husband and sons love the ice cream here. Can't keep it in the house more than a day. When you get your own the staff gives nice generous portions. My single scoop is always huge so you may consider getting a kids size if you do not want a lot. Now for those who gave this place a bad review....its cuz they expect something about a previous Goodnoes. Well this is a new day....Newtown is changing.....thank the heavens for that. This is just a nice little ice cream store. That is it. Simple and excellent. Love their ice cream cakes too. I have been coming to this place for 31/2 years and it continue to be one of my favorites. I climbed over the snow this past winter to get some ICE CREAM from GOODNOES. My favorite flavor Expresso Explosion

The third generation of Goodnoes are now in the ice cream business, carrying on the rich and creamy family tradition. While no longer occupying the history corner restaurant (great loss), they have the same ice cream that made the name synonymous with excellent ice cream, sundaes, malts, etc. The dairy still turns out the same delicious flavors that your grandparents loved and waited for on Saturday nights. Newtown has an embarrassment of ice cream riches. Sweet Pea, Owowcow, Zebra Striped Whale and Goodnoes. All are good in different ways. But, for my ice cream dollar, Goodnoes is still first in my heart and stomach. It is worth a visit to Newtown to try all four places and decide for yourself.

Their ice cream is good with usually good service. 1/50 times I come here I get bad service. Like I said the ice cream is very good. I recommend this awesome ice cream shop.
