STOP READING AND GO TO HANA SUSHI RIGHT NOW! I was a little skeptical about it before going, and even more so when I parked across the street, but once I walked inside I started to feel a little better. Once I looked at the menu I felt much better. But once I saw the plates of food and tasted it all, I was in Heaven! I am fairly particular with my sushi, but my wife is VERY particular, and we both consider this among THE best sushi we have ever had, including all throughout the Manhattan sushi hot-spots. Throw in the low prices, and it is hands-down THE BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT! we gorged ourselves and it was only about $50 plus tip, and we brought our bottle of wine (BYOB) I am a huge fan of striped bass and it was great here. Also was the tuna, but best of all was the eel! Amazing texture and perfect sauce, not too salty or sweet or smoky - just right. Also the special appetizer of mango and salmon in spicy mayo was amazing (split it for two). I will DEFINITELY be back, as frequently as I can! A++++++

Went around 8:30 on a Friday night , and seated immediately. Waitress was great. The food was excellent. We got 2 hand rolls and a variety of sashimi. The yellowtail was by far the best I have ever had. Fresh and basically melted in your mouth. It was refreshing to walk in and not be overcome by the smell of fish. This place is great. Hope to be back soon

I would like to preface the review by saying 2 things; 1. Although this is my first review I have been here four times 2. I have a severe allergy to milk, so I almost exclusively dine at Asian reasturaunts because I know that 99% of items on the menu are dairy free due to the Asian cooking culture. I've lived in the valley almost my whole life, and have been to almost every Asian restaurant around. I feel this puts me in a good position to review these types of reasturaunts. I fail to understand why this reasturaunt has such an amazing star rating on this website. At 4 & 1/2 stars this place should be one of the best in the valley. Unfortunatly many dishs I've been served here at Hana Sushi have been anything but. I've been privy to a lot of fresh sashimi in my short lifetime. Once I had tuna shashimi cut from a whole tuna caught not more than 8 hours before serving. I've also had shashimi that is fresh, but flown in. And then unfourtuanatly I've had a lot of frozen shashimi. The shashimi at Hana is exactly that, and it is more than obvious to tell. The shashimi is almost room temperature on the outside, yet stone cold almost frozen in the middle. The fish is mushy, slightly sticky, and smells faintly of fish. Along with my shashimi I received cooked shrimp tails, large pieces of mushy oshinko radish, sticks of fake crab meat (watery and unplesant), and octopus chewier than my dogs rawhide. Finding these items on a shashimi plate advertised on the menu as "assorted raw fish" is a tell tale sign of low quality, corner cutting, and takes advantage of the general US populous notion of raw fish in order to save a couple bucks. This I could understand coming from a reasturaunt that does most of their business in classic American style Chinese food, with some sushi on the side. But coming from a place where sushi is in the name, and rightly so considering 80% of their menu is sushi options, I have come to expect more, and hana sushi just simply does not deliver. So the sushi is abysmal, we've gotten that out of the way. Their only mildly saving grace was how good their brown rice green tea is. No other place in the valley serves it and it is bar far the best hot tea I've ever been served. Come for the tea, leave for the sushi. 2 stars.

Dining date June 18, 2015 for dinner. Sushi is fantastic in this hidden restaurant. Only about six tables plus seating at the sushi bar, but I loved everything from my Monkey Roll to the Sushi platter. My wife really enjoyed the teriyaki steak. I would give 5 stars if they had a license to serve alcohol! Great service and prices are excellent.

3 stars is "A-OK", as Yelp says. Visited this week for my first time. If I'm in Nazareth, I'd probably go back. Rolls were good, but not quite what I was expecting with all of the 5-star reviews. Perhaps for Lehigh Valley this is very good - not sure. Environment is cozy. Small foot print, with about 6 or 8 tables and a small bar. Staff seemed fairly friendly. There's a little ice cream store down the street, to the west - didn't have time to sample that, but could be a good one-two punch.

Very good sushi. It's byob so bring what you want to drink. Place is small but only 1 other table was there so it was fine. Sashimi was very fresh and tasty and gave decent portions. We left happy! Will be back

Call me picky, but I could not come up with a single reason to award any stars. I actually just joined yelp specifically to write this review. My girlfriend and I recently moved to the area and were looking to enjoy some sushi. We googled, and after reading reviews Hana seemed to be a good choice, wrong. Atmosphere was nice, but very cold. Service was ok, and the order took forever to come out, hence the one sushi chef. Usually special rolls are larger in size with a substantial helping of fish. Not at Hana. When the waitress brought the plate to the table I was appalled as immediately tied the dollar amount to the not much larger than a nickel sized rolls sitting in front of me. The pieces of fish were extremely tiny, and left my girlfriend and I still hungry. While it was fresh and tasted ok, this place is merely out there to turn a profit, not a good meal. Basically everything on the special roll menu was tempura or spicy, meaning more filler and less fish. I would surely not go here again. If you have about 300 to make sushi your meal then be my guest, youll love it. The four rolls we got came to around 50 dollars and was nothing but an appetizer in terms of size. And better yet to follow, the lovely gut rumble! As some of the following reviews say best in the ABE, I am a bit scared to even consider any other place in the area. O Hana.....

Pretty great sushi for the Lehigh Valley. I haven't had better anywhere else in the area, and the ambience was nice too. A little pricey for small town Nazareth I think, but I was very happy with both the food and the service. I'll definitely go back. Check it out if you're in the area and looking for a higher end meal.

First of all, the LV doesn't have good sushi anywhere. By good, I mean suburban NYC quality, not even NYC quality. Anyway, the fish tastes good and fresh, but the rice is way too sweet and they use way too much of it. Atmosphere is nice inside though.

This is the valley's best kept secret! I've been going since they've opened and have never left unhappy. VERY reasonable prices and a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. Great place for a quick lunch or a nice dinner out.

BYOB and closed on Mondays. But don't let that stop you, this is one of the better Sushi places in the Lehigh Valley! Hana Sushi is small, maybe 5 tables and a few stools at the sushi bar. Tucked away on a side street in Nazareth, the intimate setting is tastefully decorated and well lit. The quality of the food we got (soup, tempura, sashimi, sushi, softshell crab) was all high for the LV. Pricing was reflective of the quality, slightly higher than other places in the area, but well worth it. I will be back again.

I cannot say enough about this place! The quality of the sushi is amazing, the staff is always friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. For such a small establishment, you do not feel crowded. The other fare they serve is just as good as the sushi. The tempura, soups, bento boxes ect. are delectable. Make sure you try the fried Ice Cream! If you are in Nazareth, stopping in at Hana Sushi is a must!

After living in the SF Bay Area for 4.5 years, I'm back in Nazareth. Needless to say, I was so happy to see we finally have a Japanese restaurant here! I had lunch today and sampled a variety of sushi and sashimi and I have to say I was very impressed. While the menu offerings are what I would call "white people sushi" items, the quality of the fish and rice was on par with many of my favorite places in San Francisco. The size of the sushi and sashimi is average; I've had larger portions of the same items for the same price, but that's also due to being in San Francisco and not the Lehigh Valley. :) The level of cleanliness was immediately apparent, and the interior was casual and relaxing. Didn't have to wait before a server approached me and even though I was at the sushi bar, my server still made sure to check in with me as my meal was made. The only reason I haven't give this a 5-star rating is because the menu, while a nice sampling of the various types of Japanese cuisine beyond sushi, didn't have two of my all-time favorites: zaru soba and o-toro. I inquired with the chef if they ever have toro on special, but he said unfortunately they don't. The hostess told me they just don't get enough requests for it. That being said to my fellow Nazarenes...don't be afraid of toro! LOL There are 3 cuts of toro, all of which have delicious and delicate flavors. The highlights of my lunch were the scallops, yellowtail, regular tuna, and the saba (mackerel). Nothing tasted or smelled stale or off. The chef's presentations were traditional and enticing. I'm definitely going to be coming here often. It's so encouraging to see real Japanese food in Nazareth!

Great place. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Service was very good and the Sushi was fresh. Recommend the Shaky Dog Roll and the Sushi Sashimi lunch special. One of my new favorites. We will be back.

If I could give 3 1/2 stars I would. This may be the best sushi house in the Valley. The atmosphere is very nice and intimate. the sushi seems very authentic. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back for a return visit. My only real criticism is that I feel that the rolls could be a little more refined. I think some of the rolls are very ambitious, but lack the execution to make them as good as they could be. An example would be I had a roll that had cucumber wrapping instead of Nori, the thickness of the cucumber detracted from the overall sushi. Again

I was craving real sushi rolls like I get in NYC. All that's around the area is your typical buffet and hibachi spots located in and around the shopping centers. My search lead me to Hana Sushi. The food was fresh and the creamy ginger dressing that came with the house salad was super yum. It's also BYOB, which I certainly did! This will be my go-to when I head back to the Lehigh Valley area.

Hana's, a tiny spot that used to be home to a taco joint has cleaned up nicely and been made into a Sushi oasis in the formaldehyde scented town of Nazareth. I must admit I was skeptical at first since there is no real competition in the area but they proved to be a great "bang for your buck" Sushi place. Personally I'm stuck on a few regular items that I can't pass up but they never fair to deliver. The Valentine Roll is heavenly, it's heavier then most with shrimp tempura and sauces then other rolls that are far more fresh on the menu but it's sooooo good. The food is good and service is nice but very slow. Luckily they are almost never packed. Not sure if that is a sign of good or bad! Unfortunately, no liquor license...so no Sake or ice cold martini with your fresh fish BUT we will let them slide since PA is such a brat with that topic! Here is one of my current issues with Hana.... Recently they ran a few month long special, 40% off all Sushi!! While the special was going on, I ransacked the joint however now that its back to regular prices, I'm struggling to pay nearly twice as much for items that are no different only weeks later. However that's my own problem and shouldn't interfere with you enjoying the place! Check it out if you are in the area. It's the best you will get unless you are willing to drive to SoGo's in Easton. All in all, well done Hana's, hope rinky dink Nazareth is treating you good!

The best sushi in The Valley. I frequently make the 25 minute drive to get here. Their Shaky Dog roll is my all time favorite sushi roll: shrimp tempura, spicy crab on top, with coconut flakes and eel sauce. Delicious!

Food was great. Tempura shrimp was cooked perfectly. Only con is it is pretty small with only one server. BYOB is nice as well.

Hana Sushi is great! I would definitely recommend the Valentine Roll! The service is great and so is the food. The place is very small though, so when there are small children or rowdy adults around, it makes for a very loud dining experience, which kills the other rather calm ambiance. Christie, the waitress, always remembers what I order and she is VERY friendly. She even recognizes my voice over the phone! The fried redbean ice cream is good too, if you're looking to indulge. Make sure you check it out!

Way more than just sushi too! Service was pleasant and everything we had (katsu don, tempura and various sushi) was delicious. This is straight japanese cuisine--NOT hibachi. This would be an awesome date night spot too. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I are obsessed with this place! I actually never ate sushi until he made me try it from here and I love it now! I still only really get the cooked rolls but he gets the fresh stuff and says its amazing. I recently fell in love with the crock of seafood soup - it's delicious! Also, the shaky dog roll on their specialty roll list is my favorite. LOVE!

Got take out from them tonight & ordered only rolls. I liked em all, but I think sushi in general is better at the restaurant. I will go eat there in the future.

We've been visiting Hana Sushi since they first opened. We found one of their 40% off flyers on our car and thought we'd give it a try after a movie one day. SOOO glad we did! Hana's sashimi has the freshest taste of any fish I've tried outside of NYC. When they use extras and sauces on their sushi rolls, it's for flavor, not to cover up off-tasting fish like some of the restaurants we've tried in the area. One of our favorite rolls is the Shaky Dog. Even if you're not a coconut fan- unless you're allergic- you should give this one a try. It's delicious. We've eaten from the sushi, sashimi, and kitchen menus and have always been pleased with our orders. Their miso soup is my favorite ever, and the clear soup is delicious, as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It can take a little extra time to receive your food if it's busy, but it's a small restaurant and I've had my sushi take much, much longer to arrive in over-staffed, larger restaurants like SoGo. The atmosphere is calming and homey for the most part, unless there's a large group in. If I could change one thing at Hana, I'd ask them to bring back the hot green tea they had when they opened. The toasted sesame tea (I think that's what it is) they replaced it with is alright, but I prefer my tea without the floaters. I know a lot of people who love it, though, so that's largely a statement about my tastes.

Best Japanese food I ever experienced! This is without doubt one of the best kept secrets in our area. We have gone back three times within the past six weeks. The sushi is incredible. Very clean and good service. I was told from a regular local patron that they tried everything on the menu and never had a bad or even a mediocre experience. I was told everything is very good to excellent and I can believe this from my three experiences. The same chef and sushi chef are always on the premises and that's why they are consistent.

I've got to agree with everyone else. This is definitely the best sushi I've had in the Lehigh Valley. My wife and I had between us a Spider Roll, eel and avocado roll, spicy tuna and a Philly roll. All turned out great! We even got some chicken yakitori for our 3 year old son and that was really good as well. Hana is going to be our go to place for sushi from now on.

We've had two meals here, both excellent. Should reveal that my wife and I are both vegan so we can't really speak to the seafood. Vegan sushi is primo, vegetable soup yummy and beautifully presented. Vegetable fried dumplings and veggy tempura top notch. Service can be a little slow paced. It's BYO so just relax and enjoy a casually paced meal. Dining area is not large but very appealing. Don't forget to flash your AAA card for something like 15% off. After a few more experiences we may bump it to 5 stars.

The "House Salad" was good and easy to eat with the provided chop-sticks. It filled the wait-time for the main dish well and also helped ramp the excitement over finding a new place to get sushi. For a main dish I had 2 rolls of Spicy Tuna and a single Tuna roll. I was expecting good sushi after the reports I'd gotten from friends, but was surprised by the tart but tasty rice that wrapped the well-prepared yellowfin tuna of the Tuna rolls. Likewise the roe on the Spicy Tuna was a surprising touch and nicely complimented the spicy tang of the meat. The only disappointment I had - and one that I won't take away a star for was the wait time. Next time I go I'm going to try either the Miso or the Ramen and their crab rolls.

FABULOUS...in one word...OUTSTANDING! This was, by far, the BEST sushi I have had. Fresh, flavorful, the tuna was the deep red meat, not the lighter standard red fare that most places use. Prices were quite reasonable, you could quibble that some were higher/lower than other Sushi bars, the the quality was superb. Small place, about 50 seats at the most, BYOB. Only one server and one sushi chef (another cook in the back), so it was a long wait for food. We used the coupon from restaurant.com and the two of us ate more than our share. I'm a real sushi freak and could have stayed for more! The sesame seed tea was OK, but I prefer green tea (they charge for the tea). The spider roll (soft shell crab) was not my favorite, but my husband loved it. They have a lunch menu that looks like a good deal. We WILL be back!

This is hands down our favorite sushi joint. It's small and cozy, the perfect date night place. Especially since it's BYOB and you can bring a bottle of wine. Their specialty rolls are amazing, and they make a variety of tempura battered rolls that are to die for. The fish is guaranteed to be fresh, the sauces are awesome, and the owner and his girlfriend are the sweetest people. They also offer some great teriyaki dishes. This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants and I highly recommend it!
