Great service, homey feel, and great food. I highly recommend the hamburgers. Oh and the prices are even better; really reasonable. It's really hard to find good places to eat by the Poconos and I was really glad to find a place like this .

As diners go in the middle of nowhere, this was a great find. Went to the Poconos for a few days and the food at the resort (Skytop Lodge) was nothing to write about (except on Yelp). It was expensive, less than exceptional but convenient. So after a few meals, we decided to see what the town offered. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, we found the Mountainhome Diner. It looks and feels like any other diner in the US. The food was hearty and tasty. Not the best I've had but really good. So good, we went back the next day. The service was excellent the first time (though the server spilled water all over the table and thought I was the one who did it when it was her) though the next day, the server wasn't great. She forgot syrup, to refill my coffee and didn't come by to check on things. The server said everything was home made. Well, it may have been made on the premises but not all the ingredients were natural. I suspect it was semi home made. For example, the meatloaf did taste like it was made from scratch but the broth from the gravy was not, definitely from a box and not sure if they actually made their own béchamel. I could be wrong but the flavor tasted processed. I could nit pick but overall I enjoyed my diner experience and would certainly go back and recommend to anyone. There's a lot of small joints out there and this one is a keeper. Everything we ate (chicken pot pie, meatloaf, onion rings, pancakes, eggs, the list goes one) was delish. Good value too!! PS. Don't order the bagels. They are not bagels, they're just sandwich bread that look like bagels. No chewy, toothsome bite with that yeasty goodness. Just plain bread. PPS. The onion rings are to die for!!

The diner food was all right (2 stars) , but the servers were so friendly and helpful (4 stars). I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and chicken salad sandwich. My meatloaf sandwich had dried crusty slices of meatloaf between two slices of wheat bread - no lettuce or tomatoes or mayo. It was a huge disappointment. The portions are big like the usual diner fare. There wasn't anything really amazing here.

My wife and I came from NY to stay at a resort in the area and came twice for dinner. Staff is very nice. The environment is clean and makes you feel at home. Food is tasty with a hearty plate. Free refills of pink lemonade! They also have parking with a nice ice cream shop next door.

Typical diner. Stopped here before our trip back home. Sweet staff. The French toast was delicious. My boyfriend had the Oreo pancakes but thought they weren't too special.

Not recommended for dinner. Staff was friendly but food tasted like reheated grocery store bought items. French fries were definitely from a bag. Grilled chicken breast sandwich had absolutely no flavor...did not finish. Burgers didn't have much flavor either. Won't return.

We are regulars there. We don't eat out often, but when we do we know Voula & Jimmy, Mountainhome Diner, will do right by us. Food is always good, staff always friendly, and prices are right. Plus there is always enough for lunch the next day, unless you have a big appetite.

We are visiting the poconos from New York, and I'm always nervous when eating at diners out of town. This dinner was extremely clean, and their eggs Benedict are delicious. Our waitress was cordial, helpful, and prompt. We recommend this dinner for all visiting out-of-towners.

We live in the area and it's our go to pkace for a good reasonably priced home cooked meal with tons to bring home for lunch. Owners are great and always there!

I give it 5 stars because the food was really good, better than anticipated. The service we experienced was great and we were happy to have found this place after our family outting. The hot chocolate was also very very good - very rich and chocolatey. We ordered pancakes, French toast and a Greek chicken and spinach panini - all was very very good.

Friendly staff. Meh food. We really wanted to like the place but it fell flat. The salad had a pool of water at the bottom of the plate, sandwich had no sauce or other condiments (though they did bring some when we asked). The chicken pot pie was edible with good chicken but not amazing. Maybe breakfast is better?

First of all, food is GREAT! Me & my boyfriend stayed at Skytop Lodge but the restaurants in the resort are a little pricey so we ventured out into town. We went to this diner TWICE in one day! LOL. Looks may be deceiving but everything about this place is just awesome. Service was great & the prices are MORE than reasonable. On our last night we came here right before closing...afterwards we walked next door to get some ice cream at Jimmy's. Since they were closing as well, the young girl gave us our bill & told us to pay over at the diner. When we walked back to the diner it was closed. We knocked on the door to show them we needed to pay for our ice cream but Voula told us it was on her! AMAZING end to our little vacay!

The service has always been excellent when we eat here, and the menu is nicely put together with excellent breakfast specials. Ate here today for lunch just loved the Rueben, the beef was fresh and tasty.

Great food reasonably prices and always friendly service. We are from NJ which has many good diners and this diner compares to some of the best there. Breakfast is the best around and dinner is also great. Owners are always there to oversee and they are always very friendly.

Second time I have stopped at this diner when I am at the Poconos. Everything is delicious, prices good, good portions and the waitress even recognized us from the previous year! Also have gotten ice cream at Jimmies right beside one night. This same waitress told us about a spaghetti supper at the Methodist church across the road that night to benefit the forest fire crew. We went and it was delicious. Homemade meatballs, homemade sauce, salad, garlic bread, and a dessert table. I highly recommend going there if you are in the area when they have this.

Let me start of by saying the idea of "diner food" does not entice me.. I almost dId not go, because It Is a dIner. I HATE greasy frozen food thrown into a fryer. This place however was NOT that at all! I started with zucchini sticks..they were actually fresh zucchini not limp or brown. .green and fresh. .nice breading and not greasy. For my meal I ordered chicken pot pie..my expectations were not high. I mean c'mon it's a diner pot pie. It was fresh and delicious. The waitress told me everything is made to order not frozen. My friend got the mountain burger. He devoured it..French fries crisp delicous..prices are good food is delicious. . The restaurant itself is an unassuming building and I realllly was gonna pass on it. We are glad we stopped in...UPDATE. .It was so good we went back next day for lunch. I had the Greek chicken pannini with cucumber sauce. DELICIOUS! Friend had cheese omlet .. we were not disappointed. .sooo good!

Went there on a whim while traveling in Pennsylvania for a weekend in December. Food was perfectly cooked, prices were excellent , and the staff was nice and helped with questions in the surrounding area. Hope to go back soon!

This is a great diner and worth the stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you are in the area. It has changed hands a couple of times which may explain the one bad review. The current owners, Vula and Jimmy, are very friendly and always on site. The restaurant is clean and the food is always fresh. The Greek specialties are exceptionally good!!!! Try the Spinach pie and Greek Salad. And if they have it you must try their Baklava which Vula makes herself. Delicious!

Lovely place! We dropped all our baggage in the front (with their lovely approval) and sat down near a window. The place is very cozy, and the L shape of the restaurant is nice! We were served tea! I was surprised when we were not charged for it, haha. We ordered soo many sandwiches. I had the Turkey Panini, which was really good, but DRY! I guess that's what happens when you don't ask for condiments! The cole slaw was interesting--very unlike what I have had before. The fries are great!~ :D The chicken noodle soup was delicious~~~ ! Yay for saltine crackers also! The restroom is really nice and clean. The waitress was nice and let us sneak us charging our phone, haha :) If I am ever around again, I would love to just laze around eating something awesome.
