My mom and I had lunch here yesterday in a spur of the moment decision. We were very happy with the food and the service. We remember when Monterrey Bay was on top of the Jennette Building and its predecessor, the Rodi Grill. We both had the scallops and they were wonderful...more like a scampi...they just melted in your mouth. Our waiter, Robert, was attentive without being obtrusive and very polite. The manager, Karen, stopped by our table to introduce herself. The décor is not overly stiff or formal...we felt comfortable there wearing jeans, having just finished shopping. As far as the prices go...for the satisfying potions of seafood we were served, the price was reasonable. I believe most lunch items come with a side dish.

Ohhh what's happened here? Stopped in for a bite and a cocktail. Saw the restaurant was dead, so I said why not! Service was great but the food not good. Cocktail was tiny and bland! I am so disappointed. I won't be stopping here anymore :(

This place is amazing... the only downfall is the price, and sides are now a la cart. Entrees use to come with a salad and a side. They no longer do...

I had heard mixed things about monterey bay so when there was a family gathering at this venue I was excited to see for my own how this place is like. Entering the restaurant you get a feeling of elegance and nice, upscale atmosphere. It sets your mood for a great culinary experience. However, personally, I think that the my expectations were met only at the space itself rather than the most important thing which is the food. Not that the food was not good, but it was overpriced for what it was. I got a chicken-dish (I know this place is a fish restaurant) but still you would have expected a fantastic dish. Nonetheless, the food was a bit dry and definitely not of the high-standards one expects from these type of venues. The rest of my party - that actually tried fish - were underwhelmed as well. Having said that, the service was great and fast but I think I will not choose to go back again (expect if there is some sort of gathering/meeting again).

We eat out 4-5 nights a week so are familiar with local restaurants and pricing. We thought it was very overpriced. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant only had 3 tables filled between 7:00-9:00. The fish was priced from $28-$36 for average sized portions and did not include a starch or vegetable. The side dishes were priced around $8. The food was nice and the atmosphere lovely. Our server simply tolerated us. $125 for dinner for two which included only 1 glass of wine.

Our disappointment with this restaurant started at the hostess station. We had made a reservation that specified a high chair, but when we arrived, not only was the table not ready, but we were seated before it was properly set. We ended up awkwardly passing silverware and glasses of water around while juggling the baby because the table wasn't ready. Service was good, bartender accurate and generous. But the food was so-so--some dinners very good. But the scallops looked and tasted like......marshmallows. We honestly wondered if they weren't scallops at all. (We didn't send them back to the kitchen because that means the other food gets cold while the chef tries again to make things right--no fun.) The side dishes and the dessert were overcooked. This place is okay for a mall restaurant, but it's priced the same as the Monterey Bay on Mt. Washington where the view makes all other complaints seem minor. Very disappointing. No amount of pretending how wonderful they are makes up for the disappointments.

We took some guests to this restaurant while doing business in Monroeville and we were very disappointed. The restaurant was almost empty and for good reason. The food was tasteless and the service uneven and unprofessional. The only thing that was good was the ichiban and I still don't know exactly what I was eating! The walleye was completely tasteless and had no seasoning - sauteed with a mealy crust that was colorless and unappetizing. The steak and swordfish didn't look much better. This place needs an overhaul, badly!
