Decided to go out to eat for Easter since we just moved to the area recently. The Milford Diner was closed so we decided to try this place. My kids were each given a used coloring book and a bunch of crayons. That was nice, kept them occupied. We got fresh warm rolls, one for each of us. It was decent tasting. I ordered a glass of wine and water and my husband a draft beer. Never got my water. He did ask for another beer later on but the waitress forgot to bring it. The kids got lemonades that were never refilled. They were so thirsty they were eating the ice cubes. Two of my kids shared the kids sliders, which were ordered medium and came out well done. My chicken franchise was the worst I have ever had and I order it at anyplace that offers it. The taste of flour was so overpowering. The garlic mashes potatoes were delicious. The vegetables were fresh, but bland. My husband ordered the duck medium rare, it first came out half raw, it was sent back. When it was brought back he said it was phenomenal. We also ordered an onion soup. It tasted like warm onion water. I am used to a rich flavored thicker soup with semi moist bread/croutons, and delicious cheese. They totally missed on the soup! After we were done the waitress offered to take the kids to the treasure chest where they picked out some neat toys. Nothing expensive, but it made them very happy. Toward the end of our visit music from the bar was blasting rap first, then some heavy metal. The doors were closed but not sound proofed. Kind of ruined the atmosphere of our dinner. All and all it wasn't a terrible experience. Disappointed because it did cost a lot of money and we aren't rich. Would have expected a more attentive waitress, got refills when we asked, and all the food to have better quality. Might try them again, but not in the near future.

We stopped in for lunch after visiting Grey Tower. We sat on the adorable wrap around porch with a nice view of the town. Service was great; the wait staff was young (probably college students home for summer) and very polite and attentive. I had the chicken fajita panini with fries. It was tasty; nothing special, but perfectly respectable. Others had the steak sandwich, burger (which, oddly, is on an English muffin), and shrimp app. Everyone enjoyed the meal. I felt that they were a bit pricey for sandwiches. (My panini was $11.) We had 3 sandwiches and 1 app (as one member of our party's meal), no alchohol, just soda, and the bill was $62. I would eat here again if in the area, but I would want to check out prices at other restaurants first.

Had dinner on the porch last night. One of the worst burgers I've ever had. My wife stayed safe with a salad. It was equally as bad. Chicken was microwaved totally dry. Service was also far below par. Will never return or recommend.

The location of the Inn is central to shopping and dining, however the rooms are sparse and neglected. We paid $109 plus tax for the night and were led up a very steep staircase to the third floor, although we were told we had a room on the second floor. Someone else was given that room and the woman said we could choose from two rooms at the top. They were both very small, but we chose the one with a small 13 inch tv. The room consisted of a queen bed, a dresser, and an old rocking chair. There were two free standing lamps not plugged in, no working light switch within the room, nor night stands. The bathroom was gross: a cover for the overhead light was on the floor with dead bugs in it, three of the four vanity lights were burned out over the tiny mirror and the shower was a standing, tiny corner stall. The only decoration in the room was a picture above the bed. This is not a quaint inn with decorative details at all. This is more like a roadside motel off the highway. There are two other Inns within walking distance. I did not personally check them out, but I would consider them rather than staying here.

I met a friend here for dinner on a recent Tuesday night. Muir House and the Waterwheel Cafe were both not serving dinner, so we just stumbled upon the Dimmick Inn and got a nice table in the back by the fireplace. The room was so cozy and our server was very nice. I had the duck, which said it came with pomegranate sauce. Instead it seemed to come with apricots or another fruity topping, but it was still delicious. The mashed potatoes were great. The vegetables were a little boring but I had more than enough food to eat with the simple starter salad that came with my entree. I had a raspberry tart for dessert and I couldn't tell if it was homemade or store bought, but it was alright. Nothing fantastic. I would give 3 stars for food and an additional star for ambiance.

Wednesday night is Italian night - a reasonable prix fixe menu, with the obvious theme. I had the mussels, the veal marsala, and the tiramisu. The mussels were tasty - a HUGE helping in a nice steaming tomato sauce, with a little spice and a little garlic. The calamari also looked good - again, a pretty nice helping. My veal was just OK. The sauce was good, but the veal wasn't particularly flavorful, and a little tough. I knew I was probably making a mistake ordering veal and expecting it to knock my socks off, but whatever. I would definitely try something else next time - plus the veggies (devoid of any seasoning, including salt) were pretty cold as soon as they arrived. The tiramisu was good, though. Nice coffee flavor, and what I swore was a hint of caramelly flavor in the lady finger layers...which did not appear to be made of lady fingers, but whatever. Still tasty, I'm not a stickler for accuracy here. There was live music tonight - a shade obnoxious, but they were decent enough. I thought it was too loud - they were playing in the bar, but the dining room is right next door, and they left on whatever the dining room's overhead music was, which just made everything sound really jumbled. I think I would order off the menu next time, just to see what the "normal" items are like - I'm in Milford for a while, so I'm sure there will be a next time.

Sorry to those of you who had a poor experience here...I have not. I have visited DImmicks several times over many years...even had a family reunion gathering here several years ago. I have been there just last weekend and still find the help just that....helpful and accomodating. The food? Very publike and tasty. The ambiance of this cute village remains intact. There were thirty or so Harley's hugging the curb, the afternooon glorious, and the Inn was the attraction at the moment. Chit-chat and laughter abounds...a Yankee game in the background. Lets go back!!!

Stopped on while on a motorcycle ride on Sunday. Three of us. Great decor. Old building, nice on the inside. Good beer selection. Order nachos to start. Not good. Seemd like melted velvetta and too much of it. Not enough of anything else, even though we ordered them with Chili. Burgers up next. Nothing worse then a biting into a burger and having the juices fill your plate and soak the enlgish muffin bun. Burger was flavorful, just sloppy. Service was good. Beer was good. If the food could just be a little bit better, the rating would go up to 3 or 4 stars. Next time in the area, will look for a differnt place to eat.

Oh, Dimmick Inn, how I loved thee before the Jorgensons took over. We stayed twice before then and absolutely loved it both times. It was a great historic inn right in the center of Milford. I was particularly fond of the fake pig that guarded the front door. At check-in the staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed on the second floor both times in one of the rooms with a shared bathroom. The rooms were old fashioned but very charming and comfortable. Down in the restaurant we sat in a booth by the bar and enjoyed some great food and drinks and exceptional service. On our return after the Jorgensons took over, I knew there was trouble immediately when I noticed the fake pig was gone. You can imagine my shock the next day when I spotted it down the street in the front yard of an antiques store. My heart broke for that pig. We arrived later in the evening and were told it was too late to have dinner in the restaurant. They couldn't even make an exception? There were people still dining! So, we had an unsatisfying "dinner" at the diner nearby. When we finally had dinner in the restaurant the next night we were dismayed to see that they had completely rearranged the place. No longer did it have the warmth it previously had. No more cozy booths by the bar. The menu had changed for the worst. The service was below par. The room was still nice, but they had raised the price per night. Pre-Jorgensons the Dimmick Inn was a solid 5 stars (both as an inn and as a restaurant), but with them running things it only gets 2 stars.

Had a day off from camp and we decided to get a nice meal and some drinks. It was a nice evening, so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of good old Milford. My friend ordered a burger and it arrived on an english muffin, which I thought was kind of cool. I had steak and prawns (shrimp) and it was yum. The prawns weren't overdone, and the steak was just right. Oh and you also get bread with your meal, which helps with soaking up all that alcohol!

Finishing up our honeymoon, we drove up route 97 and scooted thru the quaint town of Milford. While walking down broad street we found this place. The ambiance was gorgeous! We felt very welcome walking in the door! We started off with the chili which was amazing! I wish it had more cheese and tortilla chips but that is a personal preference! Next my husband ordered the steak sandwich and I the fish sandwich. Ok to start off with... Amazing! The fish sandwich hit the spot like no other! The steak sandwich was cooked and seasoned to perfection! The one and only downfall to our experience was the server was a inattentive. She never checked on us during the appetizer and was very quick with us during the meal. She seemed very nice when she was over though! I would visit this restaurant again if we come back to this area!

I have to agree with most of the other ratings I loved the Dimmick and its menu and the ambiance but now since the new ownership , I dont like the menu and everything we ordered was mediocre . This was such a nice place to eat hope they can improve it and make it better .

When the new owners took over a while ago they changed the menu, which was not the best idea to begin with. The food, which used to be very good for lunch is now bland, dull and more expensive. Dinner was a disaster! I felt as if the fish plate was taken out of the freezer and popped into the microwave until the plate was boiling hot. The fish and sauce was almost tasteless, the vegtables were obviously from a can and the mashed potatoes had a hard rubbery skin on them, I could almost understand a hard skin... but rubbery! We skipped dessert. What a pity too. This place used to be quite good to take out of towners to but now we stay away. The reason I gave it 2 stars was simply because it's a historical building and very lovely to look at and the inside is decorated quite nice, especially around the holidays, but otherwise until they find a real chef it's just a waste of money to eat here.

The chili was a large portion but not very tasty. The southwestern grilled chicken salad was average. The cocktails were average also. Service was good at first, but then server was no where to be found after we got our food. Overall impression was staff has minimal training, and the kitchen needs a better chef.

This place is great. We were visiting from the west and went to the annual block party. The inn is quaint and charming. The food was outstanding especially the crab cakes.

Note; The food is pretty good, which is why I gave it 2 stars. We also stayed at the inn for the night, which is what destroyed the rating. Note too, that we stayed here years ago, and though it was not great, the food, service and prices were FAR better with the old owners. This place has changed for the worse. Where do I start? Perhaps with the fact that no one cared to vacuum the filthy old, stained carpet? Or the lack of screens in the windows of a room with no AC in summer? Or maybe the garage sale appliances such as the caked-on-dust fan, the remote that didn't work on the tiny sanyo T.V. or the broken 80's style alarm clock? I could talk about the mismatched furniture and decor- some from the 80's, some from the victorian era, some from 1972, and some from a log cabin. Or maybe how noisy it is? Nah. Instead I'll tell you what I FIRST noticed when walking into the Dimmick's Inn room #3. A melon-sized grey blemish directly at the head of the bed on the yellow wall, which was "covered" partially by stacked pillows. It's enormous! My boyfriend and I marveled at how little effort it would have taken to fix it, and how bad it looked. The bathroom was comic relief. I literally could not tell what era I was in. Maybe the most disturbing besides the lack of air flow in this hot room was the fact that the entire room felt like a ship. It felt this way because the walls, floors and ceiling are all at different angles. The floor sounded horrible when I walked on it. However, this is completely forgivable- this is an OLD building. Unforgivable were the exposed wires, random nails sticking out, shoddily painted over outlets. I could go on. This place was a DUMP. I actually laughed when I saw an envelope on the er... "dresser" that said "THANK YOU" assuming I'd tip them. I understand that it's possible that the person that cleans the room cannot change the screens or the clock- but she could clean the fan, the carpet and the windows, no? The only thing that was ok with this room was the bed. The sheets were white and clean and the bed seemed relatively new. What's truly sad, however- is that this place is really kinda cool. It's very historic, in a prime location in Milford, and has a decent restaurant downstairs that's always busy. It seems that the new owners have let the rooms "go" in a way. I can't believe the alarm clock above all else. It had to be 30 years old, and was completely useless, flashing all night the wrong time. This is the most basic of necessities. My boyfriend, who booked the room, said the staff were rude to boot oh, and no wifi. Nor even a phone in the room to call the desk! Unbelievable!Do yourself a favor, only eat here. Do NOT stay here. My heart sank when we went for a walk around the neighborhood after booking the room to find 3 beautiful inns/restaurants within walking distance from ours that looked FAR cleaner and better maintained. STAY AWAY!
