We ended up at Quotations because there was an hour long wait across the street at Iron Hill Brewery. We got into Quotations immediately, as there was no wait. The menu looked decent; nothing special-- they had your typical burgers, pastas, salads, etc.; there were some interesting specials. I ordered the California Salad, and was disappointed with the two small pieces of avocado that came in it. My friend had the crab cake sandwich, which she said was nice and crabby. The server brought out chicken instead of shrimp for my son. The man that brought out the order was very nice and corrected the order immediately. The meal was okay, and I was happy that we didn't have to wait for an hour across the street, since our kids were very hungry. The worst part was when we looked at the bill and saw that we had been over-charged on two items: the waitress had charged .50 extra for the shrimp and $2 extra for a hot dog. We checked the menu and asked her about it. She went away and came back with the bill, and told us "that should be better". While she corrected the bill, it was disturbing to us that 1) we were overcharged to begin with, and 2) that there was no apology or explanation about why she might have overcharged us. It makes me feel like this kind of thing happens all the time there, and that it was no big deal. We left feeling like the place was a bit shady. Next time, we will plan better by making a reservation for the Brewery and avoiding the wait!

Decent place to have a cold one. Friendly staff. Haven't eaten there yet. edit... this is my favorite place to eat and hang out in media. the food is WAY better than expected and I've eaten my way though the menu. I go here 3-4 times per week. Staff is the best, burgers, wings, ahi sandwich, fries, are all on point. I had a sketchy oyster, but what are you gonna do? everything else has been great.

I went here today for lunch and I probably won't do it again for awhile. When I first got in I didn't know where to go and no one assisted me so I just went to the bar. I ordered my food 15 minutes ahead but it look like they put the order in when I got there because it took 25 minutes. My medium well burger was definitely well down-- a pet peeve of mine and the bartender was rude. Definitely a townie bar for locals who are used to the service and food taste.

Quotations is a great place for a beer - their beer menu is so diverse and always changing. My fiance and I love picking his next beer based on name alone. So far we haven't been disappointed by anything we chose... The food is decent too - but don't plan on ordering dessert. The last couple times we've been there, they've been out of dessert. The bar area gets very crowded quickly, so if you're planning on staying a while and don't mind not seeing the tvs, get a table in the back. You get an attentive server and don't have to deal with the crowd at the bar and the busy bartenders- especially on the weekends! Overall, one of our favorite places in Media for an after dinner drink. Oh! And Quizzo on Wednesdays!

Went here twice...the first time with a friend and the next time with my usual dining partner. Ok, I get the quote thing- quotes all over the place with pithy sayings by famous people, but ultimately it is the food and/ or the drink that keeps you coming back. We are now seeing all sorts of places in DelCo where you can get a decent brew. Unfortunately the beer we got here tasted like it had been sitting around for a long while. It's a bar and it smells like one. The food is nothing to write home about. I'm not sure why I would want to come back here- it's not the food, the brew or the ambiance- so I won't be back.

I've been coming to Quotes for a few years now and overall there is not a better spot in Media. Great beer selection, reasonable prices (for Media at least), terrific staff and an owner who has always taken great care of myself and friends. I see some rather harsh reviews on Yelp and it baffles me. Mike the owner may be the type of guy who you need to get to know for a while before truly embracing but one thing is not up for dispute. He works his A$$ off and takes care of his regulars as well as anyone. The food is good, not spectacular, but tasty and reasonably priced. The beers are varied and excellent, and the restaurant itself is well lit and well laid out. If I have a minor criticism it's the TVs, located mostly in the bar area, are non-HD (for whatever reason), but otherwise the experience of watching a ball game, meeting up for a date or having a nice dining experience with friends and family is excellent. One other thing that I've always enjoyed is the crowd who goes there. Seems to be mostly polite young professionals, classy without being snobby, hip without being "hipster", a nice mix of folks reminding you more of an upscale joint in Montco more than the vast majority of central Delco bars. Lastly I'm a huge fan of the wait staff. They're attentive without being overbearing, thoughtful, and the service is quick and efficient.

I haven't any run ins with the owner.. But I will say it is exactly what it supposed to be: a reastau-bar. I get the same 3 things but what I get is done well. Good service.. Good food.

WORST OWNER IN THE HISTORY OF OWNERS. ZERO STARS. I would like to express my complete and utter disappointment in the Quotations owner. He yelled at us for putting 2 tables together last night (our server said it was ok) and then yelled at the poor guy who said it was ok. At the end of the evening I approached the owner and told him that is staff was awesome but that he personally needed to treat his customers better as it was rude to yell at us for merely pushing 2 tables together. He then had the nerve to yell at me and told me that I was just "drunk" and to never come back. Not worries there...I'll NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know not to go there either. I was NOT drunk, not at all, and he was VERY out of line. He then called the cops and an officer came into the bar and sat there and talked to the owner and they pointed and talked about me for a good 20 minutes. Total unnecessary intimidation and it was down right ridiculous. The owner does not deserve to have paying customers in his establishment.

This place is awesome! We've been here close to 10 times and the new, rare and/or trendy beers are why we always come back for more. Staff is helpful and it's a great place to watch games. The regular menu is pretty standard, but the specials, especially on the weekends, are worth a try. The service can be spotty sometimes, but the staff aren't just standing around, they're obviously busting their humps, so I'd say you need to know what your next beer is going to be before you drink it all to ensure complete satisfaction :)

I do not have a review for the food, drinks, or Quizzo, as my friends and I were at Quotations for about 30 minutes before a fun night out turned into what was easily the most hellish bar experience I have ever had. I do, however, offer a new quote for the wall: "Shut the f*ck up and leave." - Owner of Quotations to a female customer. Upon meeting up with my two friends that were already inside, I asked what the drink specials were. My friend said the bartender told her there were no specials when we arrived (8:45 p.m.) but margaritas were $3 starting at 9:00 p.m. The atmosphere was okay. However, it turned ugly very quickly when a man behind the bar asked what we wanted to order. My friend said, "Two margaritas, please." The man we thought was a bartender said, "Drink special's over." My friend explained that she was given some misinformation by the bartender that served us before, and at that point the man very quickly pulled the OWNER card. "Who told ya wrong? Well you know what? I'm the OWNER. We can end this right here. I'm telling ya, special's over. Do you know how much money I would lose if I offered margaritas at 9 p.m.?" The three of us were taken aback at the OWNER's attitude. "I'm just telling you what I was told," my friend said. We were about to order different drinks when the OWNER continued: "I could have served 5 people in the time I took having this conversation." ... what? "If your bartender hadn't given me bad information we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place, this is not my fault." My friend was not attempting to cheat the bar or instigate any problem. She merely wanted the correct information and at the very least, maybe an apology from the OWNER. This did not happen; in fact, he told my friend if she didn't like, she "should just leave." She said, "You want me to leave? Seriously?" He then told her to "shut the f*ck up and just leave." Three of us left immediately after the OWNER said that. The rest of our party was not standing at the bar as this altercation was going down, but they followed shortly after. One would think that the owner of an establishment would value customer service/satisfaction and diffusing heated situations rather than creating them. This was most likely an isolated incident but I refuse to let ANYONE, much less the OWNER, of any establishment, talk down to anyone I care about, especially when the owner is a grown man telling a younger female to shut the f*ck up without telling someone about it. To Mr. OWNER, my friends and I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for ever wanting to patronize your establishment. Don't worry, though, we walked across the street to Iron Hill and had a wonderful time.

This is my friend's favorite place and the only good thing I can say about it is that my beer was good and cold. Our server was rude. No "hello" or any nicety to even speak of...in fact he greeted us with "what do you want to drink?" My husband said "how are you today" and he repeated himself with the drink question. Okay, so we aren't there for the conversation..... We ordered buffalo wing apps, two beers (Flying Dog and a Lambic), a soda and a water. The wings were smaller and more well done than any wings I have ever had. Not worth the price, at all. Our entrees (the burger, the "Q" and two kids meals) were less than stellar. Blah in taste and definitely not worth the price. The chicken on the "Q" didn't even come close to covering the entire bun so really I had bread with a couple bites of chicken in it. The sides were chips and a pickle (what they meant was "Ruffles" and a pickle chip - yep, like a quarter size pickle slice). I will not be returning for food or service, that is for sure!

I hate hipsters. I hate Abercrombie douchebags. I hate people who have never lived outside of their hometown. Lucky for me, Quotations has and caters to all three. Look, I'm from Boston so I judge my neighborhood watering spots to much higher levels. Quotations doesn't have the beer selection everyone raves about. The crowd is barely 21 and the bartenders may be a day over 21. It's not even a decent college bar. I'm closer to 30 and this place doesn't have any of the charm of a decent college bar. The table service is slower than molasses on a tin roof in the middle of January and the bartenders have a "I really don't give a shit what you want, I'll get to it when I get to it" attitude. The food is average bar food. It soaks up the alcohol. That's about it. It's really a massive fail on the trendy-hip-intellectual theme they were striving for.

You have great beer. Nice! Sad, that's about where it ends Go to Iron Hill Listen Quotations, I've given you the chance you deserve. I've eaten your food, drank your beer, come back and done it all over (and over) again and I still can't find a compelling reason to go back. Well maybe the beer. Yeah The beer I guess. But hear me out. I'll start with the beer menu. It's excellent, beyond what you'll find anywhere else that isn't in the city. Their draft list changes frequently and is accessible to any palate, and the servers will definitely help you pick if you're at a loss. Which you might be because the various font sizes/accents on their menu make it pretty damn hard to decipher. My thought: I can get good beer across the street at Iron Hill. What else you got? The answer is not much. The food has been beyond bland on every visit; nothing special, just exactly what it says on the menu cooked like it was made in a 7th grace home ec. class. It'll keep you alive sure, but it won't keep you coming back. It also seems like the only place you'll get good service here is in the dining room. In all my visits I have had one server a few times (Maggie) who I would consider up to par, and always in the back. Whenever we're sitting at the bar tables, it's like pulling teeth to get another highly touted beer. Look I'm not saying I wouldn't go here again. The beer list is good, and if that's all I'm looking for, then maybe. I'm just saying the next time I do, it won't be at my suggestion.

Fantastic beer selection (usually St Bernardus ABT 12 on tap), decent food. Excellent grouper sandwich.

  • Katie L.

I've never eaten here, and although I agree that the beer selection is extensive, I ask myself, why are there no local beers on their list? With such a rich mircobrew tradition in the Philadelphia/PA Area in general, it would seem like an obvious choice to include some Dog Fish Head, Troegs, Victory, etc. on your menu. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the service is friendly and the other guests are fine.

Quote me on this one - Quotations left a lot to be desired as far as food. But it did offer up a great assortment of 50 beers that included plenty of pumpkin ale and Oktoberfests in time for the fall. and going through all of the eclectic quotes that were laid out upon it's tables and walls were a pure riot. If it were in Philly I'd give it 3 stars, but for Media it's pretty solid. the crab cake sandwich didn't have a lot to offer according to my eating companion. But the shrimp scampi was better than decent even if it could have hooked up a bit more shrimp. I probably wouldn't come back for a meal (unless I'm curious enough to find out what a shrimp Parmesan sandwich is like). But it's definitely a solid spot to chill over a beer when you find yourself seeing what downtown Media has to offer.

Delco beer geeks should be limbering up their gullets for a trip to Quotations, conveniently located right across State St. from Iron Hill Brewery for for the world's shortest two-stop pub crawl. From the rarely-seen-on-draft DeDolle Dulle Teve ("mad bitch" triple) to Schneider Aventinus weizenbock, the draft list was beyond on point. I worked at Monk's for four years and I'm hard to impress beer-wise. This selection was as good as any top-tier city beer bar. Pleased to be swilling so swell in the burbs, our table of five moved on to dinner. My family eats in mass quantities, so servers' faces generally light up when they realize they have a $200 check happening here. This guy seemed slightly panicked at all times, running away from the table before we were finished ordering/asking questions. I wasn't so hungry, and ordered a house salad and french onion soup. Both were fine. Everyone else's food was less fine. My boyfriends's tilapia sandwich was just fried fish on a ginormous roll. Nothing else. It wasn't horrible, but certainly not something you'd return for. When the server hurriedly asked, "Can I bring you anything else right now?" one member of our party, who'd had about five appletinis by this point, responded, "Yeah, the rest of this guy's sandwich." Embarrassing, yes. For us and Quotations.

My boyfriend and I LOVE going here for our date nights. Their cheesy crab fries are DELICIOUS (and unlike other popular crab fries they actually have crab meat on them). Their beer list is super impressive and always changing and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is sometimes you need to figure out what you like on their menu and what you don't (I don't recommend their zucchini sticks but I do recommend their duck sandwich). We love this place!

I'm torn, I love the beer on tap, tons of craft stuff and more bottled, but the bartenders are terrible. Pinocchios, Iron Hill and Quotations make the beer drinker triangle in Media PA. I'm going to say that none of them have 'great' food, but to drink they are divine. I've never been treated like a human being at the bar, these guys are very much there to just collect whatever tips they can scrape together and leave. Other than the amazing beer on tap, this is one of the must-stop locations on State Street for women cruising the town. For some reason women find this place attractive and friendly, but as a guy I have to say... meh.

  • Sam M.

I like Quotations, when i can get a seat. Personally, i like the food and i love the beer menu, but the layout is ridiculous. There is not one place to sit/stand in the bar area where you're not in the way. I don't think I've ever been bumped into so many times (and i used to go to the khyber on sunday nights). But if you're looking for a really good (and very well described) beer menu, go here. If you're looking for pretty good food that's not too expensive and you're lucky enough to get a table, go for it. The people who work here are also insanely nice and friendly considering they're constantly having to navigate around the drunk people. So go to Quotations, just don't wear nice shoes.

I've eaten here several times, including once when they had live music, and like most Media restaurants, you can't really complain about anything specific... they are all mostly excellent. And this is place is good, although a couple of times the food was above average and the others indifferent. The one time that we had music, it was packed and the atmosphere was more like a great neighborhood bar...

  • Jeff S.

I have to admit, I was drawn in by the quotations theme "Oh, a unique local place! And they're literate!" I was disappointed by the experience. The menu was a bit surprising - $16+ for entrees like chicken parm. I ended up with a more reasonable priced burger that wasn't anything special. The bartender was nice enough, but waited a long time to ask me if I wanted another pint. The clientele gave a phony Country Club deadhead type vibe

  • A L.

The owner's NOT only the main reason not to patron this establishment. The food is mediocre at best, the smell is like a three day old wash basin, the beer is over-priced, the staff has been unfriendly if not out right rude, and it can be quite loud. The one good thing is how nice and friendly the Quizzo lady is. The owner could learn something from her!

I've been going to Quotations for a few years now and the beer selection is fantastic, best in Media. The food is ok, but they do have some pretty good selections. The marinated steak salad is great and I usually order it without looking for anything else on the menu. Most of the bartenders are friendly and attentive. But to agree with some of the other reviews, there are a couple of employees who need to step up. Hey, what cha gonna do? Could happen anywhere. So. Beer selection = fantastic! Try the steak salad. :-)

I'm a little saddened to read that everyone is so down on this place. I've never had a terrible experience here, and I frequent often. Even before I lived in Media, this was one of my favorite places to visit when on the little strip. The beer selection is always interesting. I can always count on finding something I haven't tried yet. And, the food is decent. I admit I haven't tried any of their dinner options (I'm a vegetarian) but, from what I can chose from it's always been tasty. In fact, I've brought many people here and they've never had anything bad to say. I've also never had an issue with the service. I hope I never do either because I love this place. Maybe they just need a happy bartender like me to help out on the weekends! ;)

It's nothing to look at, the food is at best average, and the atmosphere is that of a doctor's office on a Saturday morning filled with the people you hate, but Quotations does do one thing right: Beer. For whatever reason, the beer selection in this place is great Monthly selections both draught and bottles is fantastic. If you enjoy beer, and you're out in the suburbs, and you've eaten somewhere else, this is the place for you. As for what night to go? I guess it's according to your mood. Friday and Saturday boast vanilla musicians armed with keyboards and acoustic guitars that provide popular songs of yesteryear, barely audible over the din of the crowd that packs in at the bar. If you're an adult that enjoys a good beverage, I would stay away from the weekend, and hit it up on a weekday night, where it's a little quieter and you can enjoy the beer without the sloshing.

If I could do half stars, Quotations would get a solid 3.5 stars from me, and that, like most reviewers, is backed solidly by a superb and rotating beer selection. No offense to Jennifer B., but I would love to head to some of the bars that she considers to have nice beer selections. I will say that it is heavy on the Belgian influence, so if you're not a fan you may not be in love with the whole selection. However, there is definitely something for everyone on the beer menu. The food is average to above average (maybe a little over priced for some things), the service varies and I've never had some of the terrible experiences of others. Overall, I go back when I'm in the mood or when friends visit and request it, but it isn't one of our go to's.

I've been in here several times and always had a less than desirable experience. I came in tonight ONLY because I saw a sign advertising $3 margaritas and fajitas. Not knowing that a place as crappy as this would actually serve $19 fajitas, we'd assumed they were less expensive ($3 per fajita as I'd gotten from the advertisement). When we questioned the price the asshole of an owner came over and basically yelled at us for ever being dumb enough to assume he'd sell food for that cheap (really?!?!). We were too shocked to respond. As (the other) Sarah B said, this owner is an ASSHOLE. Where does he get off treating his customers that way? Not to mention, the tables were DISGUSTING. They were beyond sticky and seemed like they hadn't been cleaned in months. As one member of our party pointed out, if the tables are that filthy just imagine how disgusting the kitchen must be. The food was bland and way overpriced. $19 for four tiny stale tortillas and three pieces of shrimp.. no thanks. The only positive of the night was... leaving the restaurant. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Go to any other restaurant in media and actually be treated like they want your service.

I am going 4 stars on Quotations based on the fact that my husband and I both like it. I am married to a guy that operates on 2 levels of emotion - "not bad" and "pretty good". This place actually inspires excitement above and beyond that! He always suggests Quotations because of their awesome beer list that is regularly changing and their Neptune burger (burger with crab imperial on it). I don't really get the appeal of a ground meat and crab combo but they also have other good choices. The atmosphere is bleh but it's not bad. They have TVs up so games can be watched which is a plus with the Mr. as well. Overall good place for a couple of beers and quick bite after a long week. Good Friday night place for a couple or a group.

The Beer selection and quality is awesome. Very pleased. The Service and the Quality of the food is sub-par (at best). I have been here a few time, mostly just to drink, and have always been pleased. I went there last night with my wife for a few drinks and some food. Things started off slowly with the wait staff, but the beers were tasty and my wife and I were enjoying our time together (with the phillies in the background). We each ordered a burger, the bun on mine was stale. She ordered her burger medium well, I ordered mine rare. They were both well done. Again, disappointed in the food and service, but will go back for the beer...only.

My brother and I were checking out Media. I was drawn to the near by Iron Brewery, but when we saw the menu at Quotations we decided to give it a try. As mentioned in other reviews, the menu is either regular or really interesting. The specials on that day all looked amazing, they even ran out of the california flat bread we were hoping to get bc it was a hit! lol I know I should be sad that they were out but, it does say something about how interesting it was. They had an amazing wild rice mushroom crab soup! I'm from MD I know crab but I have never had a crab soup like that, excellent flavors together. For lunch I had the blackened duck salad.... also a great choice. The bar tender was the only one serving, I felt bad that he was so busy but he did not ignore us, we got all of our food in a timely manor. If you are in the area I would definitely stop by and check out the specials! On a design note: Don't judge it on decor alone, its a little out dated but who cares when the tv's are big, the bar is full and theres food to match.

So, I moved to Delaware County from Philly about a year ago. Finding a great bar near me seemed a difficult task. But then one day while leaving the Trader Joe's and contemplating a drink at the Iron Hill Brewery I saw Quotations across the street and decided to peak at the menu. I have to admit that when that other dude who reviewed this place said it could be a copy shop or nail salon, I laughed. So true. There's tons of potential here, but this place needs a bit of a makeover. It's not totally cheesy, just a little 90's. Regardless of it's outward appearance, whatever this spot lacks in charm, it makes up for in good food and great beer. This is THE spot for Bell's Brews. There's always a nice rotating selection of top quality beers here. Almost always a nice Belgian, a tasty micro stout, some high octane IPAs, local beers as well. I've only been a few times. Maybe 3 or 4... but every time, the beer menu has something new, interesting, and seasonal. The food is great too. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself the favor and stop in for a drink. The staff has always been hugely helpful, conversational, and knowledgeable. I'll end this review with a quote to keep with the Quotations theme. "Cheers, big ears." EDIT (1/25/13): I feel the need to amend this review after many subsequent visits. Food is average at best and very hit or miss. The BEER though, still outstanding. The owner is incredibly rude and argumentative. Entirely unprofessionally. I witnessed him getting into an altercation with the table adjacent to mine. The issue was small and insignificant, but he kicked them out! I couldn't believe it. I've never had a person issue with him, but he has seen me there MANY times and has never been friendly or helpful. The staff is awesome, beer is amazing, but the owner... he's a dick!

If I could give a negative star I would. After tasting a beer and commenting that it didn't taste like pumpkin, the owner who was sanding at the bar stated that he reads the keg and if we don't like it we can leave. I made the mistake of commenting about what I read on YELP. I said.."Well I guess that is what they mean on YELP." He proceeded to tell us to get the f@#* out and took our beer! This guy is a loose cannon, I feel sorry for this guy's family.

This place is my favorite bar on State Street in Media. It's not at all pretentious or over priced, the food is really good and the beer selection is unmatched. If they could add an outdoor area, I'd be in heaven! The bar can get really crowded on the weekend, especially since Iron Hill is smoke free, and Quotations is currently not (in the bar area at least). They have a ton of flat screens in the bar area and in one of the dining areas, it's a great place to grab some food & beer and catch a Phillies game. And by "food", I of course mean "Neptune burger". I can't even speak personally about anything else they serve because after the first time I had one at the server's suggestion a year or two back, its the only thing I'll order. It's just a burger, topped with crab meat and cheddar cheese. I can not even begin to quantify in words how delicious it is. Top it off with their tasty fries and a choice beer, and you have yourself one heck of a meal. The servers are generally very knowledgeable and good with suggestions, I especially rely on them for the beer since they are always getting new ones. My current favorite is Manneken (sp?), which tastes like a cross between Hoegaarden & Blue Moon. My husband enjoyed their recent offering of Orange Blossom, which was a beer that tastes like an orange cream soda. It's also nice that in addition to their 'fancy' beers, they do serve ones like Miller lite and Yuengling, so it's safe to bring those friends unwilling to experiment. Being from Baltimore, my husband was extremely impressed with their crab cake sandwich. He even gets it fried, which is unheard of for him, and Baltimorons, apparently. I think the only downside to the place is that the quotations on the walls & tables are getting stale, and the walls generally look like they need a new coat of paint. I'm guessing the new bookcase is to go along with the literary theme, but I'd say don't worry about all that. Just spend your time concentrating on the important things: Keeping up that great beer selection.

Food is decent. Atmosphere is just okay. The beer selection is pretty good, though. Eating at the bar is probably my suggestion because you can talk to the bartenders about all of the cool beers they have. That's just my thing :-)

I live in Media and I frequent this place quite often. It is disturbing to read about the owner being so terrible. I never ran into him and hope I never do. I go here because it is a local hangout and I know a lot of people who hang here. We went last night. The beer list is good and interesting. And the food is quite mediocre. But it is loud and fun on the weekends.

Great beer list. The craft beers on draft are complimented with an equally enjoyable bottle list. Will say that this place gets packed whenever there is a game on.

Unassuming, but down right sweet neighborhood bar in Media! Okay, so I have passed by this place like a quadrillion times and the sign outside just doesn't do this place justice. The sign looks like this place could be a print shop or maybe even a nail shop. Who knows. Stepping into Quotations, you really don't know what to make of it. It's sorta hotel-looking bar meets your typical neighborhood bar. There are plenty of tables. There is a separate dining area from the bar, and then the bar side itself has stools around the bar, as well as tables. My party sat on the bar side. This side had a couple flat screen tvs and there was pre-season football on. Yeah pre-season football, weird eh? The place is very clean and okay inside. Like I said your typical neighborhood joint, nothing fancy. So don't expect too much. The beer menu was terrific!! I was surprised to see a few beers that I always wanted to try. Lots of Belgian beer, like Still Nacht, Duchess, Rochefort, some IPAs, and others. If you like beer, you will surely find something you like. Just don't be like some of the people that were there that ordered Amstel Light. Come on now, that is down right ridiculous, atrocious even. The menu itself had lots of stuff. There were seafood appetizers and meat apps. Those of you who like crab will enjoy most of the seafood apps, since there were a lot of crab based ones.. Entrees consisted of pasta dishes, sandwiches, and others. I myself had the shrimp scampi. At my table was also veal parm and a chicken parm sandwich. Overall the food was excellent. Highlights were the, crab fries, the veal parm and the shrimp scampi. The food was excellent in the sense that it was still bar food, but damn good bar food. Service was on par with most places, the waitress, was pretty attentive, so nothing bad to say about that. The scene was just chill. Then again this was a week night. Who knows what the weekend is like. Across the street is Iron Hill, which is good on most occasions, but this place is the dark horse. So if you're in the mood for good eats and a more than decent selection of beer in the Burbs, don't hesitate to check this place out.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS That is unless being ordered to "get the f*** out" by the owner is your idea of a good night out with your date. This for just asking a question! Verbal abuse and ownership are a toxic mix. Nothing special about the rest either. Iron hill is a nice alternative after your ejection.

If it was an option this place would get absolutely no stars from me, or anyone who shared in my AWFUL experience at this place. I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life! Being a bartender myself I have a few tips for this place: 1. Greet your customers! Even if you don't have time to get to them at that moment, let them know you'll be right with them, and for goodness sake do it with a smile! 2. It is not your customer's job to ask you if you are serving food! If you are, it is YOUR job to ask them I'd they'd like to see a menu! 3. If your customer does something, or behaves in a way that you feel is inappropriate, go over to them, ask them nicely to stop, and if they do not, ask them to leave as discretely as you can. It is NEVER okay to verbally assault your customers and create a scene! Especially if they had no prior knowledge of your house rules (and an $100 bar tab). So in closing my first experience at Quotations will be my last and every person I know will hear about it!

Great beer, decent food, mostly friendly staff, good music on weekends, and Quizo on Wednesday night. What more can you ask for from a neighborhood bar?

Quotations is great for those who like a) yummy microbrews, and b) sports. (There are very nice hi-def flat screen t.v.s in the bar area.) In other words, Quotations is great for guys. Which also means, Quotations can be great for girls who want to meet guys. The food is so-so. It's American pub fare. You go to Quotations for the game on t.v. and the beer. The owner seems like a high-energy guy who's tremendously focused on running the business, maybe to the exclusion of customer niceties, but, hey, I'd rather see him behind the bar making sure the kegs are tapped and the t.v. is set to the Union soccer game, rather than chatting with blondie at table five. It's all about priorities.

This place has a great beer list (by suburban standards) and it changes often. The décor is early tree house. The food...after a few beers, if you must, order something from the fryer. The chicken fingers are decent, after four or five beers they are great! The bartenders vary, some very good others don't seem to want to be bothered. If you like beer and are near Media, this is a must check out; if not, pass it by.

beer selection here is definitely respectable. i agree with joey k, it needs a makeover. it's cramped and boring inside. and for a small town bar, you pay center city prices...even with happy hour 'discounts'. what irks me about the place is the people that own and work here. i've been here about ten times, and never - not once - has a bartender or waitress had any real knowledge of the beers they have. multiple times, the bartenders didn't even know what ales were on tap. and wow, Sarah B is on point with the owner - what a jerk he is. after i met him, i vowed to never return there again. so even though Iron Hill's beer selection is inferior, at least you're guaranteed great (knowledgable) service, excellent food, and a big, non-suffocating bar.

When living in Media for 3 years this was my favorite spot. Phonemenal beer list, which changes, and an educated staff who enjoys making suggestions. The food is great! Love the bar food, but the seafood is also top notch. I could put their crab imperial on anything and be happy! My absolute favorite is the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer. Pair it with a house salad with honey mustard balsamic, wash it down with a Sawtooth, and you've got yourself a great meal!

The beer selection is awesome, amazing, forever changing, and always has something that will satisfy. It's a little pricey, but tolerable. The bartenders are knowledgeable about the beers and friendly. I've only had a few items on the food menu, but have no complaints. The atmosphere is chill. Sometimes its tough to find an open seat or three if there is live music or you get there at a peak time.

Great beer list, but food is on serious downslide for some time now. Paid $9.00 for 12 of the smallest chicken wings on the planet. Bun stale on burger. Maybe they think that people go in to drink they don't taste the food. Been going there for years, but now I'm done with Quotes. TJ's in Paoli is better

I'll agree with everyone else that the owner...is just odd...ok downright creepy. However the bartenders I've had each time I go are nice, fast and helpful. Though I tend to go on weekdays when it's not packed. I don't recommend for a Fri or Sat night...NO! I went with my boyfriend, luckily grabbed a table right away and were packed in until we left. I personally like the food, it's pretty damn good for the price and I love the beer selections. I can usually find something I want to try. But, if you're not into trying to new beer then just go to Iron Hill who's selections are consistant!

not a fantastic media joint, but like a glutton for punishment i keep going back. had many weird experiences at this bar. the ran out of corona on cinco de mayo, they ran out of the special at the blues stroll. it all seems very half-assed. i've had good bartenders and ones who seemed to not care. i have never tried the food, but that is due to not being offered a menu the one time i was hungry. had a run in with the "owner" i believe about a glass of red wine. he could not make a reccommendation, and said "all the wines up and down state street are the same". that seemed rude and without cause. way to upsell big guy! all in all, it's a last resort. media seems to be dwindling in decent places.

Iron Hill was closed and we ventured across the street to Quotations. The front, bar area is very nice. Big tables and windows. The beer menu is extensive. Personally, I am a wine drinker, but my company was happy with the selection. We only had mexican fries. Cheap and decent, but not spectacular. The restaurant gets quieter and drearier as you head back. No music. Dead silence and a bunch of long faces waiting for food. SO: stick to the bar area where it is jumping.

Ok, so I got takeout from herelast night because I had a gift card. I went in thinking it was going to be a sub par meal based on people's ratings. So not true. We ordered the potato skins w crabmeat, a hot roastbeef sandwhich, and a crab cake sandwhich. First off, i was a pain and they accomodated me.... rolls on side, juice on side horseradish on side.... we were eating later. The crabcake was awesome for a $10 crabcake sandwhich, far better than expected. The roast beef was tender and awesome as well. The ONLY thing about the meal that wasnt better than the price tag called for was the horseraddish. Not spicey enough.

It's a shame the beer selection is so good because that's probably the only good thing about this place. The menu is fair, though the attempt at mixing gourmet and pub food doesn't quite hit the mark at times. The worst part of this bar is the service. No matter how busy or slow it is, the bartenders and waiters don't seem to care about what you want. They only get around to serving you when they feel like it...which is rare. They seem more interested in "shooting the breeze" with each other. And when they finally do acknowledge you, it's seems like they're annoyed for you even daring to request service. One guy forgot my water four times and I ended up getting it from the bartender myself. The same guy allowed us to wait twenty minutes before even greeting us at all. When I explained my problem to the manager he simply said, "he just doesn't like to bother people." Isn't that his job?! So if you want good beer, sure, go here. But don't expect to be treated like a human being, let alone a customer.

I really enjoy this bar. The bartenders are always friendly and they have a nice assortment of beers. However, I have one complaint. I wish they would list the alcohol % on their beer list. I was drinking beer all night with a 10% alcohol percentage and had no idea until I looked it up. As some one who appreciates a large variety of beers, I like to know what abv I am drinking because it makes a big difference in the number of beers I purchase. This is a bigger concern for someone who plans to be a designated driver. Obviously buying one beer with a 5.4 abv is much different than a 10 %. But overall, a nice experience.

My wife and I have been visiting Quotations for years. This is a great spot for a date night but they also treat the kids well when they are in tow. On our last visit, they provided a box of Legos for the kids while they waited for their dinner. The draught and bottle beer selection is what usually brings out to Q's. They have a great rotating selection and often times they theme out their beer menu. It is awesome to visit in October when they go all out Pumpkin. All in all a pretty basic establishment with excellent drink options. The food is usually above average and they usually have some nice specials. The service is also very good and I am pretty sure that the owner has always been on-site during our visits. Definitely worth checking out Q's!

My friends and I had a great time at Quotations last night. The staff was very accommodating and lovely, especially our waiter Rick. The beer list was definitely on point. Just when I think I've tried every craft beer there is to try, Quotations has on tap about 6 beers I've never heard of. It's always fun trying new stuff! The stand out was Avery Resurrection which was a sweet dark beer...delicious. Our table ordered a bunch of random appetizers and most were very good. The crab Mac and cheese was the stand out for me. Mozz sticks were as good as one could expect them to be...pretty hard to mess up. Egg rolls were my second favorite...they were filled with a cheesy prime rib concoction and the horseradish dipping sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The quesadilla was pretty lame and bland, I would not recommend that. All in all this was a fun experience with great draft beer. If I ever find myself in this part of town again I will certainly go back!

Very fun place with good food and a great beer list that is always changing. Love the crab fries (with real lump crab!!!) that are covered in cheese sauce and old bay. Certainly good drinking food. The Thai shrimp are spicy but sweet and well cooked. Love the Italian pork sandwich, definitely get the long hots! Also note able - crab burger and filet cheesesteak with roasted red peppers.

Quotations seems to have a loyal following, and from what I experienced recently, the great customer service has to be a big reason. Plus the fun & spacious bar atmosphere that makes it a good place to meet up with friends. I think this place deserves a 3* primarily because of the service. I ordered a sesame crusted ahi tuna sandwich with onion rings instead of the chips it said it came with. The portion was a large 6 oz (?) tuna filet - but it was more rare than I requested, so I asked for it to be cooked slightly more. No problem, and without my asking, the management took off 50% off the price, and did not charge me for the onion rings. I was impressed. As for the food --- it's not the main attraction, unless you are a big fan of Applebee-type food. The onion rings were hot from the fryer when my sandwich first came out... but since they went back to the kitchen with my tuna, they returned lukewarm -- wish they would have either left them with me or replaced them with hot ones! The tuna steak was obviously some pre-frozen, pre-sesame crusted fish served on a big, fluffy institutional white bread bun on top of about 5 leaves of spring mix. I ate the fish and skipped the bun -- it was okay, but not something I would ever seek out. My friend ordered the steamers -- they looked okay too, though the bread also looked like some soft italian bun. A simple crusty artisan baguette could have put it over the top. If the food was better, this would be a great place to go instead of the ever-crowded Iron Hill across the street. But Iron Hill's food and atmosphere is just way better. . .

We ate at Quotations twice last week. We went last Wednesday for Dining Under the Stars, then again on Saturday afternoon because the food was so good on Wednesday that we wanted to go back again! On Wednesday, we had burgers and steak fajitas which were excellent. Then on Saturday we had a mix of food in our group of friends. We tried the wings, egg rolls and the roast beef sandwich. All were great and I really want to go back and have the Chiorzo egg rolls again! This is my new favorite place to eat in the area, no joke! The service is really good, they are attentive and very nice. The place is pretty big and has a pleasant atmosphere. Also, the bar has an excellent selection of beer! Keep up the good work Quotations!

Love this place. Food is so much better than it looks. Their crab fries are beyond delicious. Way better than chickies and Petes. They have actual crab meat on them! Only problem I have with this place is the tables are kinda sticky from the finish that is on them but that's not a huge issue. Come here for a good and hearty dinner for sure!!

Yea, the food is eh like everyone seems to say, but I love going in there for one reason: Ricky the bartender. That ginger love bug is the nicest guy around and he makes the whole experience be an experience. He makes it exactly the kind of place that you want to hang out in, especially late night. Great sense of humor and great recognition of regulars and their interests. Sweet dude all around. Rick for president.

I gave this place 4 stars for its beer selection which is pretty awesome. The food is okay. Probably would give it 3 stars if based only on the food. On the other hand, the prices aren't bad at all, and the service has always been extremely fast.

After a failed attempt at trying to Dine Under the Stars in Media sans reservations, we ended up at Quotes. We were seated almost immediately, and they weren't super busy, but there was a decent enough crowd for a Wednesday evening around 7:45. It took a little while to get drinks and order appetizers, but nothing crazy - our server was nice but seemed a little frazzled. As it was "fajita special Wednesday", I decided on the fajitas - everyone else at my table ordered sandwiches. My fiance ordered a "well done" burger. Our appetizers took a little while to come out, but maybe that's just because at this point i was STARVING. About an hour later, our four meals come out, one at a time - which I thought was a bit odd for the size of the restaurant, and especially strange for how simple our food choices were (meaning I didn't order a filet or something that takes a long time to prepare/cook) Atmosphere: It's definitely has a bar feel more than a restaurant. It has little quotes written on chalkboards all over - which was cute. Quizzo starts ~9pm on Wednesday nights. Our table was not clean and it did not have silverware on it. They were not super busy so I am unsure about this, and the long timing of everything. FOOD: Bacon Wrapped Scallop App: This was actually decent - crispy bacon - the scallops were cooked okay. Fajitas: Thank goodness for my turning-brown guacamole, as the chicken was so dry for my fajitas that I would not have been able to eat it save for the guac! The best part of the meal was the sour cream - it was thick and creamy and delicious, also the other saving grace to my fajitas! I I had order this item because it was on special and I wasn't trying to spend a lot of money - boy did I make a mistake in coming to quotes! My fajitas were $18! I was shocked. I thought they would maybe cost about $12 bucks. If i would have known they were $18, I would have promptly returned them due to how unappetizing they were. Burger: I didn't try any of this, but my fiance was not a huge fan. His "well-done" burger came out pink (not blood, just pink), which was fine but just not what was ordered. He maybe got down half of his burger before giving up. The saving grace to this item was the onion rings, however they were very disproportional compared to our other friend who ordered the onion rings, by a lot - so that was disappointing. Overall: way too pricey for the sub-par quality of food - I will NOT be returning. It should not take over an hour to cook and serve 3 sandwiches and 1 order of crappy fajitas. Service was not that great. This might be a decent spot for the college-aged crowd, but certainly is not my cup of tea. who messes up fajitas?!?

Very Disappointed. Let's start with service. Bartender was good. I made the mistake of asking the other guy ( some a$&hole who must be the manager for the night or just a tool with an attitude not focused on the customer) what the specials were and he said ask the bartender. Had a very average burger on a stale roll. Have to pay extra for cheese, onions, lettuce and rear end piece of Tomatoe. The onion rings were average at best. It wasn't like the place was busy. Maybe 4 or 5 people max at the bar. Iron Hill is literally across the street. Should have gone there - at least they are consistent if not excellent.

Asked my waiter, rick, the specials where and he described it to the point I could imagine the taste. Great tuna and the Maryland crab soup was great and flavorful. The raspberry iced tea is great easily the best I have ever had.

I ate here Friday night because I always have friends that want to meet at Iron Hill which is always jam packed and so loud so I know to come over to Quotations for great beer nice atmosphere and normal noise level where you can talk and hear. The reason I am writing this is that I eat out often and think I had the best meal I have ever had in my life. It was a special Seafood Roulade. I hope the restaurant reads this and seriously considers making it a regular entree or at least a regular special. Our waitress was perfect, adorable, cheery and attentive so the service was great. Love this place it is truly a gem in Media amongst many fine places to eat. I am more of a foodie and like draft beer so do have to add the beer selections are amazingly fun and exciting as they do always have an interesting selection of beers on tap for those who like to try different beers.

The crab fries are the best! The Vegetarian Sandwich was also very good, but it came to me without any sauce, which I thought was strange. So I ordered a side of the horseradish dip they have which complimented it really well. The day we went was a Saturday night. What bothers me is that for a table of 4 people, we were only given 2 sets of silver wear, and no extra napkins. Food is good. Service tonight could have been better.

I'll admit, I thought Quotations was just gonna be a mediocre sports bar, but I was wrong. I went to grab lunch here and was pleasantly surprised at what turned out to be a decent food selection. The dinner prices seem like a bit much, but lunch prices were around $8-$10 for a generously sized sandwich and a side. The beer selection's wonderful, too! Lots of rotating craft beers, and the waiter/bartender was quick to recommend us something delicious. Service and atmosphere here feels a little more cozy and warm than Iron Hill Brewery across the street, although be prepared to wait a little longer when it gets crowded. I'd say 3.5 stars.

I'm having a hard time trying to pick how many stars to give this place. PROS: Awesome beer selection! I looked for Southern Tier PumpKing for a long time - and this place had it on draft last night. SO delicious. There are many great beers here... (You just have to decipher the awfully written beer menu to get to know what they have). The bar had TVs for lots of sports viewing, and there was a really kickin live band last night. I'd go back again just for the band!! CONS: The food was pretty crummy. I got a salad which was fairly small for the price, and the avocado was brown and mushy. Not so good. My partner-in-crime got the crab fries. The crabmeat itself was amazing, but the fries were overdone and soggy. Food = meh, I'll pass. The place was a little awkward - with a restaurant in back separated by some weird partitioning walls from the bar. Maybe this was circa- the days when everyone still smoked in bars in PA. OVERALL: If I were to return to this place - I'd eat somewhere else first, and then sit at the bar at Quotations to drink some delicious beer for dessert!!!

Quotations is a great neighborhood bar. I've worked in Media for over 15 years and have been there numerous times for a reason......it's a great local spot with a great beer selection and good food. I often wonder about some of the reviewers out there. I don't think you can make an honest review of restaurants, bars or people without checking them out on a few different occasions (Case in point, my wife of many years didn't like me the first time she met me). If you know Media, you know that Quotations is a Media favorite for a reason....it's a well run business run by an honest local owner. It's exactly what a neighborhood bar/restaurant should be.

  • James B.

Terrible layout for a bar and the food's not quite good enough to make out with the large dinning area. Couple that with mediocre bartenders and a decent beer selection. Probably better to go there if you have a group of people to sit at a table with and don't mind not being able to see a television.

Great beer selections, amazing French onion soup and bacon wrapped scallops. Friendly fun staff !

Cool bar. Great selection of beers. Ordered the steamers - they were ok. I think Quotations might shine better had I ordered the crab fries or the stuffed mushrooms. The beers will be more of the draw for me to come back than the food.

  • J P.

Eh...decent to grab a beer, burger or crab fries, and if you need a dime bag, ask the staff. The place has potential, as Media is a great, small town which, unfortunately, is surrounded by towns with terrible restaurants. A little TLC, and staff training/conformity would make this a go to.

  • Louise C.

I agree with Kim B. I'm a local, and could be a regular. EXCEPT, the owner is a real unfriendly dude. Mr. Owner, when I ask what your gluten free options are, don't treat me like a leper. When I ask you about a specific vodka , don't rudely say "Well, I didn't name that one, did I?" And when you tell me you're giving me a gluten free beer, actually do it. Instead, you gave me hard cider, which was the only silver lining in this sturm und drang. Never had it and turned out to be excellent. Would've been real serviceable of you if you actually poured it into the glass you slammed down next to it, as any real bartender would do.

  • Ben F.

My first (1) star rating! The food is average at best. The staff are terrible, maybe it's due in part to us dining during weekly Quizzo but the staff are always slow and on more than one occasion exceptionally rude. There are countless other options in Media...please try one of them.

    (1)
  • John D.

I rarely write reviews but had to today. The bartenders are ok, and so are the beers. The food is average at best. The owner is a complete a$%, he is rude and doesn't come off inviting to his establishment. When mentioning this to others, multiple people completely agreed. They have a great seasonal beer called Southern Tier Pumking. It is absolutely delicious and packs a punch. They sell 22 oz. bottles of this stuff for $12/ bottle. Where whole foods on route 1 sells the same exact bottle for $6. Bottom line -Unfriendly, Overpriced, and the food is average at best **I highly recommend a saloon called The flying pig located in Malvern, bigger beer selection, better food, much friendlier staff.
