Went to lunch here with work peeps not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised that this was a decent place for Japanese. We did the hibachi thing - the lunch portion was more than enough food with half a plate of rice along with veggies and some meat. I also ordered the spicy tuna sashimi (because I am brave like that. Ordering sashimi in a land locked town is always dicey but no issues here.) My collegues ordered other sushi items and they all seemed satisfied with their choices. Would definitely come here again for lunch.

This TK has the nicest Hibachi layout in my opinion with loads of room and even those nice little sitdown tables. I always get the a.y.c.e sushi with loads of nigiri and spicy rolls, personally I think when it comes to basic sushi at Tokyo Diner you are alright, their fancy rolls sometimes tend to be a bit loose. The Hibachi was about average but they just give you loads of it. the Chefs are friendly and they handle large groups really well (there were over 40 of us). This Tokyo Diner would have to be my favorite out of the other branches.

Came back a few times in the last two months and I have been disappointed each time. I think they are under new management and new sushi chef. The sushi rice is hard, cold, and a bit under cooked. The sushi pieces are very thin and I also question the quality of the fish. Sadly, I will not be visiting this establishment any time soon.

Fun place to get hibachi, I was thoroughly entertained. The hibachi and sushi were both excellent, although the inside of the place was a little shabby. Service was good, and the place was certainly packed so they must be doing something right. They have a club card for discounts on future purchases that only costs $10 but entitles you to 15% off meals and like Jeff mentioned all you can eat sushi for $25. I'll be going back.

Really liked the Sushi and Hibachi here. The Chef guy was a little less playful, meaning he didn't do a lot of tricks that I'm used to from other Hibachi places. I think their Sushi Gold membership would be very economical. Would definitely come back.

Have been back here several times since we discovered the AYCE membership! YAY all you can eat sushi for $25 person!!! You can't get sashimi =/ or anything with lobster, but we love the eel on eel with avocado, the pink dragon, the black dragon, soft shell crab roll (spider?), jungle roll, rainbow roll, house special, umm and several names of people rolls lol... basically we order a bunch of special rolls! I would estimate we order about $100 worth of rolls, plus we each have an order of mussels, so if you are hogs like us, you will get your money's worth out of this deal! Anyway, since it is BYOB as well as AYCE, we have had several excellent meals with plenty to drink and our bill is always $50!!!!! YAY!!!! They don't advertise the AYCE thing very well, we had trouble finding any info about it online, but it works like this: you pay a $10 annual fee and they give you a dated card with your name on it, and then you order a bunch of yummy sushi! Eat until excessively full, repeat! =D There don't seem to be any other "rules" (some ayce places force you to eat a bunch of rice as well?), you just order what you want. Also if you don't WANT AYCE sushi (what kind of person doesn't want AYCE sushi?), my understanding is you can opt to receive 15% off your total bill instead. Look in the Clipper for a coupon for FREE membership (no $10 fee).

Since we got the free VIP membership (15% off the tab) for a year via the free coupons mailed to the home, we are here on a weekly basis. It's not the best sushi we've ever had, but it is great sushi for the prices. The staff is the best of any sushi places in town; extremely attentive. If they are busy, you may even get a free taste of something compliments of the chef.

If you love sushi you know this area doesn't have much for you. Throughout my search I would consider this the best from the rest. One thing that bugs me is the yearly membership... To a restaurant? So you can order all you can eat sushi? That's crazyy.

I have been a loyal customer of this place since the beginning of the year. After tonight I will never be returning again. My party of 2 was seated after a slight delay, although I don't know why as there were plenty of tables available and the table we were sat was already ready. Once seated there was yet again another significant delay for the server to take our order. After our order was place we received our cucumber salad right away and then the waiting game began. Twice the server came by and apologized for the delay for our food, however I could not understand why she was saying there was a delay. About 1 hour later (I checked with my foursquare check in time) our food arrived only it was half of our order and it was wrong. Regardless we ate it because we didn't want to wait another hour for the correct order. About 15 minutes later the other half of the order arrived and it was wrong as well, again we just ate it because we didn't want to have to wait even longer. While we were seated there and waiting I observed 2 other parties that came in after us (both larger parties) get served and left before we even had our food. One other observation about the food. Items that were put onto my plate had been sitting out on the counter for 10-15 minutes. Two other observations I made while here tonight were a dead cockroach on the restroom floor and the base of the sushi bar is destroyed, most likely from customers sitting there kicking it.

My favorite area sushi restaurant. They don't go crazy with sauces and mayonnaise like some of the area places. Mayo has no place in sushi. I would recommend the pepper tuna special (seared), and some of our favorite rolls are the green roll, TNT, shrimp tempura with avocado, Pammys roll, spicy tuna and tempura flake roll. Fast, courteous service.

After moving to central PA I found it tough to find decent sushi. This was one of the first places I've tried and returned. Its definitely a place I return to every few weeks for lunch.

This four and a half star restaurant gets rounded up to five because it is not found in a major metropolitan area. Perhaps I'm a bit snobbish when it comes to ethnic food and central PA. But I am continually impressed that as the years go on, when I return to the area, there is more and more diverse cuisine available. A few nights ago, a friend of mine convinced me to try sushi at Tokyo Diner. Perhaps this experience will end my (irrational?) fear of eating sushi in non-metropolitan areas. The fish was very fresh and tender. The salmon seemingly melted in my mouth like butter. The tuna was quite good as well, and my dining companion insisted that the tuna was typically better there. We also ordered a green roll, which I've never had before (spinach and avocado), which was a nice vegetarian roll. Their seaweed salad was very good, as was the cucumber salad and the miso soup. But my favorite was the spicy salmon roll! Delicious. If you like sushi, and find yourself in Mechanicsburg, PA, I highly recommend Tokyo Diner.

This is a nice place to go if you like Hibachi because its a lot cheaper then Benihana's. But I will say the food isn't as good as Benihanas' Everyone is friendly and there is usually no wait to get seated.

Not a bad hibachi experience and the sushi is pretty good as well. The fish seemed fresh and the rolls stayed together. The spider roll was the best tasting out of the few we ordered. Affordable, Tasty, Simple.

Very kid-friendly; our waitress loves our toddler son despite the mess. Buy the "all you can eat" cards and you get your money back in 2x visits. Clean dining area, fresh and delicious sushi.

Tokyo Diner has decent sushi as well as offers Hibachi. If you live in the area and like sushi look into their Gold Club membership. It's a program for all you can eat sushi. There are some limitations, for example you can't gert lobster sushi or sashimi but overall it's very economical if you eat a lot of sushi when you go out. Not the quality of Sapporo nor the new innovative flavor's Sapporo offers, but good sushi and a lot of it at a good price. Waite staff is friendly and attentive. We have quickly become regulars here due to the Gold membership. Regular check for 2 with membership has been around 70ish, compare that to the 170ish we would spend at Sapporo and you can see why we have changed. If it's going to be a onetime thing, every once in a while go with Sapporo. If you like to eat sushi often this is your place.

They have a great all you can eat sushi deal for $25. The sushi there is awesome!!

All you can eat sushi for $25 (with club membership). Stick with the stuff that moves quickly. Service here is better than at the one at Union Deposit.

Hands down the best sushi I have had in the Harrisburg area. The sushi rice tastes like vinegared rice rather than regular white rice like most sushi places in the area. The fish always tastes fresh and delicious. The decor is what you would expect from a standard sushi/hibachi place, but the staff are genuinely nice and attentive.

Went to the hibachi. Waitress was nice. The cook did the usual hibachi show (setting things on fire, etc.), but the veggies did not seem to be the freshest. I had the chicken and shrimp, which was good. I have had better hibachi in other local places.

Love to support small business and gave this place a shot since it is in the same shapooing center as Thail Cafe, one my of favorites. The sushi was really average. No real inspiration put into the rolls or sushi. With the place as quiet as it was, did not feel great about eating raw fish here. The good news. My stomach was fine after eating here but would not go back. Just not fresh enough, and did not taste great. Much better sushi in the area.

The food was good, but they serve their sushi warm. It wasn't awful, but definitely not my preference.

Open in a snow storm when [other local sushi places names redacted] were not open. Sushi beats no sushi, every time.

Much better experience this time around. Our server was very attentive, and our chef was hilarious with his jokes. The chef seemed caught up in the entertainment that he let the some of the food over cook. We would return for takeout in the future due to the proximity. This Japanese place has the mustard and ginger sauce, and fried rice is included with hibachi.

So there are multiple locations of this restaurant. This location makes the rice a bit different than the others. But besides that all the food here is awesome. The steak is cooked to order. The chicken shrimp and scallops are always delicious and the sushi is pretty tasty too. Can't say anything about the lobster since I haven't tried it yet. Great spot

What Faith S. said about the AYCE membership ... she's right. That's a good deal, and you WILL stuff yourself. Is Tokyo Diner getting any Michelin stars in the near future? No. It's not haute cuisine. It's a blue-collar sushi place that does what they do just fine. I think their Kimi and Pam's rolls are delectable. Their shrimp tempura, I could eat six in a sitting. TNT roll ... as good as any I've had. Service is OK. They're not particularly original. But they're worth the trip.

Tokyo Diner is a no frills experience, and I enjoy it all the same. Food is consistent - we always go for hibachi, and I've always been pleased. Service is very friendly and attentive. Prices are fair. They also send out coupons, so keep your eyes out!
