Never had a problem with the food here. The woman at the front desk is a bit snooty tho. That's the only reason I didnt give em 5 stars.

What a let down..... INEDIBLE!!! I love Chinese food. I like trying new places and new dishes. So I was excited to give this place a try. When we got there I thought the place was closed down by the looks of the out side. When we went in I thought the place should be closed down from the look of the inside. The lighting was awful and the place was very run down. I thought what the heck if the food is good who cares about lighting. Well..... I went up to the bar and saw the food, something just wasn't right. Every thing looked over cooked and I could tell the food had sat out for quit some time. I got a few of my favorites, General tso, pepper chicken, lo main, spring roll, etc., Flavorless, cold, dried out, just foul! I can eat lo main right out of the refrigerator two days later but this stuff I couldn't bring my self to swallow. I look up and could tell my husband was having the same issues so we decided to leave with out eating anymore. What a waste we payed $16 something for the meal then went down to 5 guys and had to buy another meal. Never had problems like this before and will NEVER go back to this place.

Horrid. ....we have went there on many occasions hoping for a good experience, never happened, we gave up. Cold, old, sparse food. I would never touch sushi here...scary! ! Many health code infractions we found out later. No staff interactions. Very old very dirty inside and out. Save your money. ..go somewhere else! !

awful. The restaurant feels like a sauna. The food was the worst Chinese I've ever hD (borderline the worst period). The dated decor is so rundown. I'm actually surprised this place has not been shutdown by health inspectors.

So I passed this place for a while now and always saw it packed around meal times. I read reviews and decided to make my own based on my own experiences. The food was fresh and well stocked. Drinks were kept full and atmosphere was sim which made for a nice mood setting and relaxed. Loved loved loved the seafood options!!! Totally satisfied with my choice to go here. The only thing that was off was the bill. I called before going to check price on buffet and was told it was 6.49 a person but instead was 7.49 maybe because it was labor day when I went.

It is not great but it is cheap for lunch. They have the usual chinaman buffet fare. The cold spicy mussels are the best thing there. They also have Mongolian bbq.

Used to be much better. Sushi still decent, but the on buffet itself it's hard to find anything worth eating.

I don't know where all the bad reviews are coming from.... I've never had a bad experience there. For what it is-- an all you can eat Chinese buffet-- it's pretty darn good. Maybe the bad reviews come from pretentious foodies who were expecting to find Masaharu Morimoto in the kitchen. Lighten up, folks... I's an all-you-can-eat buffet, not Spago.

I've gotten take out from Evergreen about half a dozen times and the food was always pretty good. That wasn't the case the last time I went. I ordered a quart of chicken fried rice and it was disgusting. The chicken and onions were all but raw, and the rice had no flavor at all. I will NEVER go back to Evergreen after this disgusting food. I took a couple bites and returned for a refund. The employee I talked to copped a major attitude with me and wasn't the least bit concerned with the fact that his restaurant is serving dangerously undercooked poultry. The unsafe food they served and the lack of concern over public health prompted me to file a complaint with the PA Dept. of Agriculture's food safety inspectors. There's plenty of better places in the Mechanicsburg area to go to for Chinese food. Stay away from Evergreen unless you want food poisoning!

The negative reviews seem to be older (2011 and before). Have eaten there twice in the last two months. Food is on par with most buffets but priced a bit cheaper.

I'm still pondering why there are so many bad reviews...I though for what this place offered that it was pretty good. I've been to other buffets around (aka Hibachi Grill up the road) and this one rates pretty good in my book. For starters, they had a lot of food to offer. They had the basic Chinese food as well as some American and even Sushi. My friend and I both filled up on the sushi and these little dough balls filled with cream cheese. While we waited a few minutes to be seated, we had no problem with our server. She constantly removed unwanted plates and filled our drinks a few times. She was also very friendly. For only $10 a person, we really had no complaints. Yeah, it looks like a dump inside because they never changed the decor from when it was a diner, but it was clean. I'd go here again. **Just as a side note, I noticed that they do take-out. Basically they give you a box and you fill it up with whatever you want from the buffet and then you pay before leaving. I'm not sure if they charge based on container or weight, but I know not too many buffets in the DC area let you do that so that was pretty neat in my book.**

Horrible food. Me and my friend literally spit out half of what we ate. And who knows how long that sushi was sitting there. Ive never been a buffet fan and I dont expect much of them. We only went because my friend wanted to go to a buffet and this place was near us. The saving grace of this place was our server. She was very attentive and very sweet. Also noteworthy when we saw the back lot it had all kinds of random trash and broken carts(?) outside.. Didn't look too neat. Who wants food poisoning? Not me.

The owner should learn customer service is essential. Stopped coming here after a bad exchange with the owner who was not very nice, almost rude. Wanted badly for this place to be a regular option because of the location. Wish the owner would turn it around because there are more and more options around for food. Very slim pickings for good Chinese food on the East Shore. I prefer options in Enola, Carlisle and Harrisburg. Still waiting or 'that place' in the Mechanicsburg area for proper Chinese food.

Against the grain on this one. :) what else is new. So I dunno, maybe they were on their A game, maybe it was because it was the middle of the day and they were slow, possibly it was because I was very hungry and my mouth/tastebuds didn't care. But my experience here was pretty good. The food was kept well stocked and pretty fresh, the ice cream and deserts were being brought out with regularity, and the mongolian bbq flat top cook was having a grand time. There were probably 20 or so people in the whole place and the servers kept my drink filled and the dirty plates cleaned off the spot. Granted the food was nothing stellar or fantastic. But for buffets I'm not looking for fantastic, I'm looking for edible, and this place worked for me. Now whether or not it lives up to this review if I go back around dinner time. That's another matter entirely.

A group of us from work went here for lunch on 6/1/10. I don't know what used to be in this building, but it's an odd looking place and getting pretty run down. Inside it's a fairly large place, but not particularly clean. It is, however, the largest Chinese buffet I have ever seen. There are several buffet stations with the usual Chinese fare. There's also a small salad section, a sushi buffet, a made-to-order steel grill (a la Benihana), and an ice cream bar. There is one odd buffet station with a mish mash of items from crab puffs to mac and cheese. The food isn't bad for what it is. I'm not really a fan of buffets. I started with some sushi which was fine considering it was pre-prepared. The traditional dishes were just okay. My least favorite was the meat and veggies prepared on the steel grill. Not bad, just bland. The little fried donuts to go with some ice cream were a nice touch! Based on the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the place, I give it two stars. I could care less if I ever go there again. It's just not my cup of tea and the food wouldn't bring me back. I'm sure there's better Chinese food around and I'd rather order from a menu anyway.

Every now and then when the friends require a little sustenance after a long drive down the Carlisle Pike, we stumble into this average, green buffet to over-fill our bellies with Asian. The sushi tastes like standard buffet sushi (like it was wrapped in cellophane for a few hours before serving even though it was just prepared), the buffet selections are generic with no attempt to offer anything unique, and the recycled diner/family restaurant decor is unassuming, informal, and unplanned. It does have a Mongolian grill for made-to-order grillery, if you're into that sort of thing, which I'm not. It's not bad, but it's definitely bland mediocrity. Check in, check out, gain a few pounds, lose 12 bucks.

Let me preface this by saying I have not eaten at this location BUT if they are they same owners as the Evergreen Buffet that closed years ago on Union Depost Rd it was the worst food I ever had in my life. I am not overly picky but this literally was not edible. I ate their once about 8 years ago (approx) and all of the food tasted like vinegar. It was almost as if they were cleaning the woks or buffet pans with vinegar. Hard to explain but it was disgusting. IF this place is not related to the former Evergreen Buffet from Union deposit rd then disregard this review. From the reviews I am reading here it sure sounds like the same place and nothing has changed.

The Evergreen is a wasteland. My friend and I stopped here one night because we were both craving Chinese food. We're vegetarians, so we thought that a buffet would work in our favor. Even a small dish of fried rice and perhaps a mixed vegetable plate would have sufficed. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that a little girl who looked about ten years old was manning the hostess podium. She just looked at us, and we stared back at her until she decided to get up and let one of the other (adult) employees know. We were seated, but waited for almost 20 minutes before someone came by to take care of us. In retrospect, I don't even know why we stayed, except that it was fairly amusing to watch a group of children wander through the restaurant and clog the greeting area. When we finally did eat, the food (rice) was overcooked and bland. I remember being so happy to leave the restaurant, as if an emotional weight had been lifted from my chest. Yes, it was really that bad. If you value your appetite, you'll definitely stay away from this place.

Pros . . . lots of food to pick from as you peruse the buffet options. Cons . . . very little of it is worth eating. Some of the items were actually good but most of them were below average. There were even a few items that I pushed to the side after barely a bite. That sucks. The parking lot always seems to have cars in it and at meal times it's packed. I don't get it. I should have checked Yelp before eating there, but we just happened to stop in one day because it seemed so popular. The only people that would appreciate this place are the ones that only care about quantity over quality. Unfortunately, that isn't me. I would have given it 1 star but I reserve those for the more horrendous of horrendous. I'd give this about a 1.5 if it allowed me to do half stars. Yuckie yuckie yuckie!

Denny's or Chinese Buffet? Denny's or Chinese Buffet? This is what we were left pondering at 9pm on a Thursday night after an evening of shopping and now wanting something affordable to eat. It was a split second decision. The two are right across the street from each other on the Carlisle Pike and as we were approaching them, we opted for Evergreen Chinese Buffet. Did we make the right choice? Let's put it this way, if the restaurant actually leaves us kicking ourself that we didn't go to Denny's, then we made the absolute wrong choice. Denny's is gourmet. Evergreen is downright unedible. I think I found where the dog/mystery meat urban myth must have originated from. Well, a quick run down in case you can stomach more of this review (pun intended): Food- The usual fanfare of chinese buffets, american and chinese food. Almost every single chinese dish looked unedible. I didn't actually eat any except the Mei Fun because it was the only one that looked safe. Everything looked as if it was sitting there for half a day. I tried to eat the honey chicken. I gagged. Even my 3 year old refused the bulk of food and demanded ice cream. Service- Non-existent. There were about 5-6 employees, who I am guessing were related, roaming the place talking amongst each other but not doing any work. Whoever said their kids are running around is definitely speaking the truth. They forget to give us the check and we were just sitting there looking around while they ate their dinner in a corner booth. Our dirty plates were left on the table and not cleared. Atmosphere- This was obviously an old diner converted to Chinese Buffet. It looks dirty upon entering and only gets worse as you see the food. I said to my wife this is going to be horrible upon pulling into the parking lot, but she wanted to give it a try. The buffet stands looked like they were never wiped down, the stainless steel trays look 3 decades old. The decor is outdated and probably the original interior since the diner opened. The place screams dirty. For some reason the place was busy. I was shocked. I need to consult Yelp on my phone more often. I left yearning for an All-American Slam.

Great selection. Flavor was decent on most of the food. The sushi selection is good, but not the flavor. The freshness of most of the items seemed good. The price was very cheap for how much food you get and the number of choices.

avoid at all costs. GROSS, GROSS, GROSS. Owners let their kids run all over the place. Restroom was FILTHY.

I really am not sure what everyone is complaining about. This place always seems to hit the spot, compared to other Chinese Buffet near by (cough cough New Forest) The waiters always ask if I need a refill. They have sushi (might not be the best in the world) which is pretty good. Also, I loved the baked crabmeat and the steak. Before you trust some of these reviews try it your self you will be surprised. 5 Stars because you get what you pay for and than some more.. :)

Pretty much my definition of "meh." It's pretty basic, some good dishes, some not so good. Like most Chinese buffets in this area, they seem to have an aversion to serving hot food hot. Their attempts at American dishes (mac & cheese, etc.) ... just say no. Raised them a star for a selection of not-terrible sushi and a Mongolian BBQ with chef.

Had a few decent dishes but overall a let down. Had a pretty depressing atmosphere and food tasted like it was left out for a while. Meh

This place was disgusting! The floor was horribly dirty and the food had obviously been sitting all day.. or was just not refilled. And the "sushi," haha! Do yourself a favor and don't bother. This place was absolutely awful.

This place is a disgrace. Cold dried out everything. Never restocked. Dingy. Staff walks around looking depressed. Don't blame them. As my grandmother would say... The World's Worst!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
