Really, it's ok. The ambiance and kitch of the place is fun. There are regulars there, obviously, and they are definitely treated well. The beer selection is definitely there. The food was very good. A few things: the kitchen was extremely slow. It took about 20 minutes to get our appetizer. The bartender was attentive enough to send our dinners back when they tried to serve it about 2 minutes after we got our appetizer. They seemed to be understaffed and the bartender was getting a bit edgy. For an establishment apparently so well-versed in beer, my heart hurt every time I saw them pouring a Guinness. If someone poured me a pint of Guinness straight on, leaking over the sides, head that took up the entire glass, no time to settle, et cetera, I would have sent it right back. It hurt a little each time I saw it happen, which was quite often. The bartender was not in a very good mood and it was showing. He was saying negative stuff about some fellow patrons in front of us and it was uncomfortable. The staff also started slamming bottles into the trash for some reason and for a minute we thought we may be signing waivers for "Bar Rescue". It seemed so out-of-place and unnecessary. Will we be back? Maybe. Food is decent, beer list is good, but they need to staff up and for the love of all things holy, learn how to pour a Guinness.

My sister and I popped in to Flying Pig Saloon on a Friday night when we happened to be in Malvern. The place was totally packed but we were able to score the last available two top table. There didn't seem to be more than a couple servers but there were also a couple bussers running around. That said, service was still on the slow side, and our orders were inaccurate so we had to keep asking for things which was annoying for us and our server. We had a round of Moscow Mules which were served in copper mugs, but without lime. My sister ordered a taco salad which was on special, but it didn't come with dressing, which we had to request. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with fries. It was delicious, but served with the dressing in the wrap, which I would have preferred on the side, as requested. We also had to ask for silverware and napkins after receiving our food. Would I go back? Probably, if I'm ever in the area again. Maybe I'd choose to sit at the bar or at a pub table near the bar, if the option was available.

Had lunch and ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with cole slaw. Nice portion and delivered in a reasonable timeframe. The beer selection is second to none. The wait staff is friendly and offer menu suggestions.

good craft draft and bottle selection, good food if you stick to the basic bar fare, skip the fish & chips. gets loud if a game's on, but nice relaxed place.

We liked it so much the first time we went back a week later. The beer selection is a five star extravaganza. Some great interesting brews with lots of variety and even an extensive cider list. If you have a question about taste, type or cost of your beverage just ask as the servers are very knowledgeable. Lunch during our second visit was later and the place was busy on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated promptly and the service was friendly and fast. The menu is extensive but the favorite of the table during our last dine was the roast pork sandwich. You can also add cheese, peppers, etc. The dish comes with chips but they have excellent fries and/or onion rings. The first time I dined here I had the mussels in garlic sauce and they were amazing. The next visit I had the portobello mushroom sandwich and it was less than stellar. I would give that dish about a two-star - oh well. People also tried the soup and enjoyed. Ask as it changes daily. The place has a fun vibe and there are several generations dining and enjoying the atmosphere.

I was here on Saturday night for a birthday party for my friend. The party began around 7p. I've been here a few times, but instantly, I was impressed by the number of beers avalable on draft. That's always a fun treat. It's also a dangerous game to play, so I opted for dinner as well. As a vegetarian, I had 2 options- the portabella sandwich or the veggie wrap. Per the recomendation of my waitress, I went for the veggie wrap and i sprung for fries. The beer list looked that good! When the food came out, i was instantly bummed by the portion size. My food was teensy for the $8 + $2 for fries = $10. I'd expect something a bit more impressive given that its all just veggies. It also wasn't wrapped evenly such that one side of the sandwich was pretty much all lettuce... no dressing or anything... just lettuce + wrap. I forgot to mention- there were 8 of us at a 4 top so we opted to push the tables together. Bad move. You aren't allowed to move the tables. They went and got us another table, and promptly took it away when we were done eating. Very strange. We ended up hanging out there for quite a bit. Lots of laughs and pints. At one point though, I was really taken aback. A man came into the bar area and screamed at the top of his lungs for everyone to quiet down- that this was a restaurant!!! For starters, it was 11pm on a Saturday night... but more importantly, if you're trying to be a restaurant, the food should be a whole lot better. The place was crowded with people paying good money to drink and relax at the volume of their choice. That really rubbed me the wrong way. The night ended when all sorts of fights broke out. That's never a good thing, but I didn't really see any bouncers breaking anything up. I decided it was time for me to go home, so I left. All in all, the food was lame, the atmosphere was fun until i got in trouble for being too loud on a Saturday night (too much fun?!?! srsly?). I'd rather take my business elsewhere.'

I go here frequently. The service is always excellent, the waitresses are awesome. The food is very good for a casual bar/drinking place. Definitely nothing fancy but there is always a good crowd and the beer selection is above average. I would highly recommend the Flying Pig to anyone that loves a wide of beer and great food at a reasonable price.

Great selection of draft beer, nice little local pub feel, and the food options were broad (from pizza to pub food). Crowd after work on a Thursday was a mix of local to office workers. Friendly staff, knowledgeable about the beers on tap, and quick service. Would definitely go again - great place to hang out and blow off some steam after work, or grab a pint and some food! B-)

My kind of dive. Love it. The place is decorated in a pig centric theme with dark wood everywhere. There are pigs hanging from just about everything. Regulars are greeted like old friends. My beer geek wife always finds good craft beers on their beer menu. Even some nice surprises. For those who drink the mass produced swill, there are plenty of choices. The food is just good pub food. Nothing highbrow. The portions are generous and things always taste good. The are wraps, cheesesteaks, burgers and a few cold options. During certain times of the day, parking can be difficult. There are several public parking areas close by. Not more than a block away. On a day off from work, I like to stop by for an unhurried lunch.

We loved this place and wish it was nearby. Comfortable atmosphere, great service, lots of draft and bottles and excellent food. We tried the pork belly with jack daniels dip app, half rack ribs and fish and chips. All were great and plenty of it.

Who doesn't love 'The Pig?' It's a comfortable place to get a beer. Extensive tap list and even a more extensive bottle list makes for an ultimate beer lovers destination. Even better, you can get a good'ol Miller Lite if that's what you prefer! The experienced bar tenders serve up a good cocktail! The food is not bad, but not great either. Good for a quick bite but not date night. They have tons of TVs but usually do not put the sound on. You will find lots of local regulars and a few unfamiliar faces as well - everyone is welcome here! Friendly fast service - no complaints!

Great food, atmosphere, and service. Excellent beer selections on tap and bottled. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about al our food and drink inquiries. The pork bellies with bourbon juice were a cross between spare ribs and bacon. They were meaty and flavorful. The scallops were tender and filling. This is a great local spot, but worth a drive from further away.

Followed the advice of my fellow Yelpers to find this great eatery while on business in the area. Really enjoyed the atmosphere with flying pigs adorning the ceiling and numerous TVs strategically positioned to watch the game. They have an impressive beer list and the food was excellent! I had a cup of chili (very tasty) and a half rack of Baby Back Ribs (incredible with the bones gently pulling right out of the rib meat) complete with mashed potatoes (very good and so much I couldn't finish) and slaw. See attached pic. Service was very good and you couldn't beat the price for what I ate and drank. Looking forward to my next visit and a trip back to the Flying Pig!

Five stars for beer selection, without a doubt. They have chalkboards lining the walls with the draft & bottle selections plus a paper menu. I'm still in shock that they had the Founders Mango Magnifico... a beer I fell in love with after trying it at a festival (Snallygaster) a few weeks back. It only came in a 22oz bottle but that wasn't too much of a problem! The food menu is extensive but I went with a simple chicken quesadilla and swapped the sour cream for guacamole. C ordered a cheese-steak with onion rings and A ordered the goat cheese salad. The 'dilla was hot off the grill and ok, just lacked any real flavor. The salad looked delicious. Didn't pay much attention to the cheese-steak but did steal a few onion rings and they were tasty! It's a big space with lots of tables, a couple couches, and a large bar. It was packed when we got there but only had to wait about 5 minutes for the table. Service was normal. Overall, a great neighborhood bar! I think I'll just stick to drinking next time.

Good beer selection, food is pretty good too for a bar. Service is always slow bc of too few servers but that's what you get in a dive. Good Malvern locale.

This is a staple in Malvern. The vibe is a hip version of your grandparents basement. The wood is awesome, a huge bar and lounging area. The beverage list is BIG. The parking is an issue and the food is good for a bar. We really like going here for a Friday or Saturday happy hour.

The Good-great ambiance and beer selection....the Bad-waitress kind of inattentive and forgetful...the kind that drops your drink off then runs off so fast you can't order or ask a question, and the food was just ok. They don't trim the beef for the prime rib sandwich, so there is a lot, and I mean a lot of big hunks of fat and gristle in it. My wife's shepherds pie was good, but the ground beef was extremely greasy and fatty. They obviously did not drain the beef, and just left it in the bowl. PS-parking was ample.

My fav spot for years. Tons of beers, great atmosphere, good bar food. Keep in mind over the years as malvern develops the pig gets a little busier. If you go during weekend hours its gonna take awhile to get in and out. But thats a good thing at the pig, just drink another awesome IPA and chill.

The Pig is a great sports bar with and extensive beer menu. The food is bar fare. It could be better but most people aren't going there to eat. It's the atmosphere which makes the place. It's a corner bar on the main street of Malvern.

Always a good time to be had here! I have been frequenting the Pig for about 6 years now (even before I could drink - the food is yummy too!!) and I have never had a bad experience. The bartenders are all awesome as are all the servers. Of course it can be loud and rowdy sometimes... It's a bar! That's what makes it fun! :)

Went here on a Friday night with two friends who just moved into the area. Wanted to grab a quick beer and a bite. Cozy, well done dive bar. Wood everything on the inside, clean. Some dive bars can be real crappy...this wasn't. Food was decent and it was packed. They had some rare seasonal beers. Crowd was mixed younger (30-40) and older (55-65). We will be going back there I'm sure.

Everything here is hit or miss. Mainly "miss" I'm down to one thing on the menu I enjoy. We were going weekly, but now we've just about given up. The staff can be rude, the food over cooked and the mixed drinks inconsistent. I miss how it was, I don't know what has changed.

The rest of my party told me it was my fault for getting anything other than pork at a place called the Flying Pig. So yes, maybe I didn't capitalize. I will say they have a great craft beer selection!! The place is very cute and kitschy with lots of flying pigs and piggy decor hanging from the ceilings and vintage beer signs and posters on the walls. After trying a couple of different IPA's, I was starving and ready for a nice, juicy Prime Rib Sandwich. I ordered a side of garlic aioli for the fries, and that was a solid combo, I definitely filled up on those. This was partly because they were good fries, but mostly because that sandwich was just NOT good. After hitting the first chewy hunk of cold, clear fat, I opened it up to find that too much of the sandwich was this inedible fatty texture. I should have taken the advice of council and gotten the grilled cheese, or one of the pork sandwiches, but I really didn't expect the Prime Rib to be this bad. Everyone else in my party of 8 seemed overall happy with their orders, so maybe this is one of the only items on the menu that is a miss.

This place looks like it would be dark and creepy from the outside but is was quite charming on the inside. Loaded with aged character, flying pigs of all types and beer menus on every wall. The beer selection can't be beat! They also have a pretty sizable menu. I tried the nachos which were good and also had delicious turkey Reuben!!

Awesome for what it is, a homey dive with an excellent beer list and great food! All I need to say is Cheezy Pig - most decadent and heavenly grilled cheese I have ever had, hands down. Will definitely be back!

Great craft beer list and good bar food. We popped in here to watch some NFL playoff games. The crowd is mostly local but you can run into a few travelers here; or, at least, I did. The atmosphere is dark but lively. The bartenders are friendly and will let you try any beer you like. A group of 8 guys, we ended up ordering a bunch of pub grub that was sinfully delicious. The fries are large cut, steak fries and I found myself going back for more. I ended up splurging even further and splitting a nacho plate which ranked high on my list, as the toppings were plentiful. I don't find myself in Malvern often but if I shall return, this will be on my list.

This is what all dark and dive-y bars should be. Its charming and grungy and has truly excellent beer selection. You can tell it has a revolving cast of regulars on first-name basis with all of the staff and the food is appropriately fried with a gentle hint of sophistication (sweet potato fries with fun dips etc.). Its just a nice balance of true bar-atmosphere with interior design, menu and alcohol accents that make it charming.

Love the food and atmosphere, especially the extensive beer list! Just unhappy about our last visit. We go to the pig very frequently for lunch or dinner or just drinks. Our last visit was lunch and took about two hours. The young lady serving us had an off-putting attitude. We got dirty looks and waited a very long time for our drinks and lunch. There were only a few other people there sitting at the bar. People who came in after us were actually leaving before us. Very surprised by this service, especially since we were trying to get back to work as soon as possible.

The Flying Pig Saloon is a cute, semi-divey bar. Its walls are covered with pig-themed pictures, statues, and trinkets, and there are couches in some of the corners. I work nearby, so I've been here once for a happy hour and another time for lunch. They have a pretty good beer selection. For lunch, I had a delicious California special wrap, which was grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing, and avocados.

Amazing local place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but has a great charm. Beer selection is great and the good is fantastic. It's a regular place for me and my girlfriend.

Barely a 3 star, Really. When I first stepped into the place I thought this was totally my kind of place. The pig centric décor and the lounge type of seating area made the place very unique. I went with friends who were "regulars". The menu looked very appealing. I followed their recommendations, and the food did not disappoint. The problem was, it took a loooong time to get the food out. Luckily I was not in a hurry, and I learned to give plenty of time whenever I went there. It's consistently slow. What's also consistent, was every special request of mine did not get to the kitchen, and I had to ask repetitively, which was a pain. Yet surprisingly, all of my friends' requests were taken care of right away. I also had to request silverware, but my friends got theirs. Points got taken off there. Beer was definitely the point of attraction here. They definitely have a great list on tap, and it updates often. My problem is again, was the service. The bartenders obviously knew my friends and immediately greeted them and started chatting with them. "This is a great sign" I thought, "We'd be taken care of" I thought. But as my friends' glasses were filled, the bartender didn't even ask me what I wanted to drink. One time the bartender was busy facebook friending another Regular, and left me and some other people at the bar holding our empty glasses. I sure hope she got good tips from these Friends, because she'd need them to compensate the people like me. So to all the regulars of the Flying Pig, congratulations. You're well taken care of and it shows. For me, there are more than enough places I can get craft beer and decent food, even when the servers and bartenders don't know my name.

The Flying Pig Saloon.....First, let me start by saying I like the theme and decor of this bar. My friend and I decided to go Sunday night for a bite to eat, and it wasn't packed. Maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but only one guy was working the f.o.h. He made drinks and served the few tables near the bar. Dude was very straightforward, "what do you want?" type of guy. The service was still great, maybe it was a rough night for him but personality is key. I ordered the mushroom portobello sandwich along with an order of mussels. The sandwich was good nothing special, the mussels were great but I disliked the amount of minced garlic in the white sauce. My friend ordered the crab cakes, decent amount of crab but too many diced onions in the batter. Guess what yelpers?? The beer was cold with a great head, this is a first for me... Kudos to the staff for checking the keg and frig temps.... I would like to mention, to those who like playing the jukebox. Sunday night was the battle of the bands. My two songs never played, I believe people paid the extra credit for their song to come on next. It was a ridiculous wait and I left not knowing if my songs were played. The jukebox situation was so serious, i over heard an older guy yell at a woman, "The song is from Rush, Bitch!" Wtf... Is this what I should expect in Malvern?? I'd come back but I won't use the jukebox. lol

Still working the slaveyard shift and the Flying Pig Saloon had 4/5 stars so we gave it a shot. After we ate the food I found that most of the reviews were strictly based off of the beer selection but since we were working we just stuck to the food. I ordered the roast pork with Italian roast peppers and sharp provolone cheese. The sandwich was good. Juicy pork, the peppers were hot (long hots I'm assuming) and the cheese worked well with the sandwich. I also got fries which were a bit soggy but it was somewhat expected considering we ordered take out. My associate got the chicken fingers and fries and mozzarella sticks. Fries soggy, chicken fingers were not bad but definitely nothing special and the mozzarella sticks were basic, maybe better if they were eaten fresh. Cool little bar though. I would go back to have a beer and maybe eat again if I was in the area and not working. As I mentioned I think the reviews are mainly based on beer selection but I'd have to go back and try another meal to be sure.

I came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend, and really it was just okay. I got the prime rib sandwich (I know, I should have stuck with pork, but it came recommended by a coworker...) and the meat was VERY fatty, but once you cut away the fat (which was about half the sandwich...) it WAS good. Just strange that so much fat was left on. The fries and beers were good though! My main issue was with the service. It must have been an off night since the other reviews are good, but our waitress was so rude! You seat yourself, and we chose a table with four chairs. She immediately yells at us, "can you save that for a larger party??" There were lots of open spots, but yeah maybe it would get busier later in the night or something. The issue wasn't that she asked us to move, but that she YELLED it at us from a couple tables away when she could have just as easily walked up to us and asked us to move. But whatever, we moved no problem, but I guess she was still pissed because the rest of the night she was really short and barely came over. We asked for her help with choosing a beer and she told us to ask the bartender, when we had heard her help the table behind us with their beer choice earlier... we also kept having to shoo the busser away. I'd definitely like to come back again (and get pork this time...) and hopefully then our server will be in a better mood!

This place looks real shady from the outside, but don't let that fool you. There's been a really well-built draft list each of the three times I've been here over the past couple years, and the food is definitely above average for a pub. It's kind of dark and quirky inside but it gives the place an interesting ambiance. There's a small lounge kind of space with a couch which is uncommon for bars but kind of cool. It's never been free when I've been there, but someday I'll walk in at just the right moment.

Love this place. Just moved to the area and have been there twice. I went for lunch with my dad and the pulled pork with jalapeños was recommended by the water. It didn't disappoint. Also went there on a Saturday night. It was packed but not too packed and had a good mix of people. Everyone from college age to gray hairs. Everyone mixes well.

I could see giving this place 2 stars, or 4, so I averaged it out. But it really depends on what you are looking for, and when you go. Why 2 stars: The outside is not impressive. Looks like a corner dive bar that you would be hesitant to walk into if you didn't know about it. Its fairly small. My wife and I went on a Friday around happy hour. The place was packed. It was so loud, and I mean loud. You could barely hear the person next to you. The male to female ratio was about 10 guys for every 1 girl. I would not leave a woman alone in this bar. lol Not sure if there was any music playing, you certainly weren't going to hear it. Did I mention it was loud? We lasted for a beer, then left. Why 4 stars: Well, if you like any of the above... Perhaps on a non-Friday, non-happy hour, things might be different. They definitely had a huge selection of beers, and while we didn't eat, it looked like a good selection of food. Everyone seemed friendly, some old guy started talking to us out of the blue. I might go back, but...

Malvern is short on good places to eat and drink. It is a small town after all. So by default somewhat the Pig is the hot spot. Aside from monopoly though, it does provide a unique beer offering and good food. First off, many know the staff got some bad reviews in years past, either just unfriendly or lacking knowledge of the beers on tap. Today I would say the staff is much better, with Marissa and Bethanie as stand outs. It's also nice to see the owners there regularly, pulling the tap and offing beer info. Most don't come here for a Bud. The on tap selections change regularly and you'll find many new-to-you beers. Some are high test which will be noted on the board. Backing that up is a full line of bottled beers. Almost all countries are represented. They are happy to give tasters so ask, no reason to drink beer you don't like. There is also a brew on a beer engine for those traditionalists. The food is surprisingly good for what is really a bar. Cheesesteaks, hamburgers, fries, fresh salads, and a number of interesting options. My favorite is the Prime Example, a prime rib sandwich on ciabatta with cheese, horseradish spread, onions and au jus. Great for lunch and dinner. Kid friendly until the bar gets busy. It's crowded and loud on party nights. Lots of TVs and sports are always on. Juke box, Golden Tee. I'd like to see them open up the wi-fi for patrons. :)

Bar with great food, and an amazing beer selection! The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is classic small town bar, without the feeling of a dive. Gets crowded during peak bar hours, but usually a good group of people. This is a Malvern staple, so check it out.

If you live in the Malvern area, you don't have that many options to go out. The Pig can definitely be considered Malvern's watering hole. You'll run into people you haven't seen in a long time whether they're 45 or 21. The beer selection is great. There's something on the list for everyone. There's always plenty of tables free while the bar stays more crowded. There's also a couple couches that I don't think I've ever seen anyone use. I was here once during a power outage which was quite an experience. They used the generators to keep the beer cold and the Christmas lights glowing. It was kind of funny but hey why sit at home in the dark during a massive power outage?

A friend recommended the Flying Pig Saloon to me, and after holding a happy hour there, it was obvious why she did. The Saloon is a comfortable semi-divey bar, with a fun corner with couches, and dining room seating. True to their name, there are piggies EVERYWHERE, of every kind: posters, ceramic ones, paper ones, flying ones, sitting ones. This place has more character than you can shake a pig at. Our friendly, primary server (Carol) managed to handle our fairly large group (about 15 folks; most of the time). Assorted staff also served us, though one waitress seemed pretty bitchy. Bartender Mike was on the ball, making us cherry kamikazes. (Drinking enthusiasts, be sure to check out their extensive beer selection.) At one point, someone knocked down a lamp. Fred, one of the owners, came over to make sure everything was okay - what a cool guy! Yes, there are some potentially breakable items inside, but the Saloon is generally drunk-friendly[1]. Besides our group, there was a healthy crowd for a Thursday. (Yes, people were smoking, but ventilation was pretty good.) Per Carol's suggestion, I had a tasty double-layered grilled cheese sandwich with ham[2], which came with a pickle! Oh, and before I forget, order the macaroni and cheese with lobster. Trust me. [1] Please drink responsibly. [2] Oink, oink.

I stopped in yesterday and ordered the mussels in red sauce. They were the worst mussels i have ever had. I honestly think they were frozen and just heated up. They were fishy, dry and disgusting. I can't say anything about anything else on the menu but Don't get mussels here.

This a nice little joint. It has a lot of beers to chose from and has a joint feel though the overstuffed couches are an odd touch. The bar itself is quite small so most of the time you'll end up at a table. The food is quite above bar food. I mean it is good. My only complaint (though minor) is the service. Usually they have 1-2 waitresses which just isn't enough. They are nimble and polite, but it feels like they are just stretched too thin. However that would never stop me from going here. Overall a great place to go if you are into beer.

This is my favorite place in Malvern. I go every Friday for a few afternoon beers, and I have yet to be disappointed. Incredible beer list that changes weekly (I try a new draft every week), and tasty pub grub. We've only been going for a few weeks, and the waitress already recognizes us and recommends beers based on our previous orders. Overall, awesome local place with great service and unmatched beer selection.

A perfect "dive" bar that has an awesome beer selection (both on tap and bottles). Friendly bartenders and welcoming crowd of regulars. Very crowded on weekends, but always a crowded bar any night. Not a big fan of the food, but it will suffice to build a buffer for all the beer you'll drink. Has live music some nights, which honestly can be overwhelming in such a small place.

Oh, The Flying Pig, how glad I am to have met you! After years of being a TJs and Teresa's Next Door devotee, I was certain that another comparable beer bar could not exist, let alone thrive, on the Main Line. Fortunately, I was wrong! Stuck in the middle of Malvern, just a couple of blocks from the train station, sits The Flying Pig. Since my first experience here, I have been hooked. They have an extensive beer list (somewhere in size between the aforementioned TJs and Teresa's), and great food. There are two things that set them apart from those establishments though. First, this is a neighborhood dive. It's not a classy upscale Belgian eatery like Teresa's is, nor is it the strip-mall and sterilized feel of TJs. It's just a little corner pub in a typical old neighborhood. Secondly, it's a LOT cheaper than the other places. Many of the hard-to-find Belgian beers that can be found here are $2 to $3 cheaper than the alternates. Same goes for the food. It's not gourmet fare by any means, and don't come here looking for escargot. But if you want a satisfying greasy sandwich, then this is a great place to go. I give this place such a high rating because it has much of what can be found at much more pretentious, crowded and expensive places, for much cheaper and easier (although I still will continue to frequent said places, if for no other reason than convenience to my abode).

Stopped in the Flying Pig Friday night and enjoyed it so much we came back Saturday night! I'm a fan for sure! It does not look like much and I'm sure many will call this a dive bar...but i have a hard time thinking you'd call it that after you have partaken the pig's goodness! Foodies will enjoy the Menu thoroughly! I had a tough time making up my mind...probably part of the reason we went back Saturday! The menu is big and there are many regular bar staples. We had the Roast Pork with Long Hots and Sharp Provolone...incredible! Wings, crispy and flavorful, good burgers and Delicious spicy fries. Saturday night I tried the Monte Cristo and the sliders. all delicious! Beer drinkers will be in heaven...I do not consider myself a beer connoisseur at all...I like my yuengling and that's all i need...but this place has a dozen beers on tap and something for everyone. The staff was nice...Our server both nights, Marissa, and Carly, were most excellent. Very friendly, and attentive. Both of them can dance around the crowded bar while juggling plates and drinks. Parking here can be tough...they have a small lot out back and there is a municipal lot on king street, as well as street parking. They do not take reservations or call ahead seating. They also have some lovely lava lamps, a couple couches that look comfy, and do note the flying pigs throughout the place... All in all I'm glad I don't live closer to this place or I'd be broke!

I'd been in Malvern 30/+ times before I found this joint. It never would've happened without a local referral. So glad I was finally clued in after years of traveling aimlessly up and down Rt. 30, which is right around the block from this place (smacks forehead!). Great bar food, from the apps to the burgers, etc. Interesting, though limited specials (ya gotta love a Reuben Cheesesteak). But, let's get to what really matters. This place has an awesome vibe, excellent & friendly service and the beer options are fabulous (a few small craft standards & others that were way off my radar). Really friendly people abound... both patrons and employees. I'll be back, and I already look forward to it.

Great selection of beer, and the food was ok. The barnyard sandwich is just as advertised; it has bacon, chicken, and beef along with roasted peppers and sauteed onions with a garlic aioli. It's a lot to take in, but if you like that sort of thing, it was good. The shepherd's pie was a huge disappointment. It was basically just ground meat with mashed potatoes on top, no gravy or veggies other than corn. And it was also pretty tasteless and never acquired much taste no matter how much salt was added. The bartender was pretty swamped because it was quite busy, so the service was not the fastest. But it was fine considering how busy she was. We might stop back if we're in the area, but we would definitely consider other options too.

The bastard son of a pretentious beer bar. Don't come here if you expect to discuss the subtle hint of stone fruit in your beverage, but expect that level of drink nonetheless. The bar's draft and bottle list easily keeps pace or surpasses most bars in center city, but at half the price. If you love good beer (or pig ornaments) without the pretentiousness, you found your bar. Only had drinks, so I can't speak for the food. From what I saw, it looked like pretty standard pub-grub, but I couldn't speak to it one way or the other.

Great dive bar in one of the most expensive zip codes in the country! We had a couple excellent beers on tap. The NCAA's were playing, the bar was full at 4:30 on a Thursday. Obviously a popular place.

I came here for a short retreat from the weekend Retreat myself and some friends were attending nearby. Overall, it has a great atmosphere and is a perfect spot to saddle up for a big game. The food is good, in particular and not surprisingly the pork. However, the service leaves a bit to be desired. The waitresses all were working their tails off (pun), but the operation seemed inefficient and certainly understaffed. Overall, a nice find in Malvern with a great beer selection.

A great dive bar with a huge selection of beer. I'm always a sucker for an awesome banner and the Flying Pig always amuses me upon entry with its sign. The place offers some good food. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich. Mainly, for me, as a local, the beer selection sells me on this bar. It is also located in a great area for you to walk around if on a date or just stumbling out of the bar. Though I do not suggest the later.

This little secret in Malvern is not so well kept. What do I mean? For starters, it's literally in a small shopping center in the middle of nowhere. You'd think when you enter this Saloon, you'd be walking into a dead dive. Not the case. This spot must have built a nice reputation because each time I stepped in there, very crowded. And it doesn't appear to be just a local hang, but the class of people seem up there too. Now, I never ate there the two times I ventured, but as a beer advocate, this place packs an awesome selection and at fair prices. Love the theme. Seriously, pigs are everywhere and they add an extra level of charm. I'll go back to eat sooner or later, but it will mostly be to grab me some solic Rauchbier.

I SO wanted to LOVE the Flying Pig but sadly I didn't :( The beer selection was quite extensive - of course my beer connoisseur husband only found TWO (IPA's) that he liked. I had a cask condtioned ESA (extra special ale) which was very good. The FIRST bartender we had was awesome - giving suggestions & letting us try beers. The relief bartender was a DOLT. He needs to ask Santa for a personality next Christmas. Come on dude - you're a BARTENDER! We both had the dinner SPECIALS - i had shrimp, husband had some Octoberfest sausage special - both were VERY average, maybe even below.... Assuming I go a next time I think I would try one of their sandwiches. If we lived closer we'd probably give it another go but there are WAY TOO MANY good (better) beer places near our house in Bucks County. (Union Jack's, Iron Abbey, Tony's Bar & Grill)

Very pleasantly surprised by this joint. Sandwiches were big and tasty. They have an extensive beer selection, although mostly bottles. The only thing that was disappointing in any way was that I forgot my leftovers! Definitely one of the better Cuban sandwiches we've had in the area. The marinade they used for the roast pork was quite flavorful. The Barnyard sandwich was fantastic Essentially. a cheese steak, combined with a chicken cheese steak, plus some bacon and a tasty sauce. For a Wednesday dinner, it was quite busy and lively. By the time we left finished dinner, the noise levels were starting to get a bit much. Several reviews have mentioned poor service, but the wait staff seemed fine. Around enough to be helpful, but mostly left us be to enjoy our dinner and drinks.

All I have to say is that this place has, by far, the best grilled cheese on the face of the Earth! Do yourself a favor; go to this place and order the cheesy pig. Choice of two cheeses, plus bacon, ham, and tomato? ZOMG!

    (5)
  • Jen M.

Wow! What a selection of beer!! I am totally down for this type of dive atmosphere and, as a pig lover myself, would kill for their collection of pigs which are scattered throughout the place (mostly hanging from the ceiling). Also need to comment that their sandwiches are so yummy, cheesy greasy and delicious! I wish I lived closer so that I could go there and have one of their sandwiches cure my hangover from the day before.

This place is a gem. Truth be told, I'm completely unfamiliar with the Malvern area despite working around there for almost a year. I went here last week with a few co-workers, to see one of our colleagues off into non-co-worker status-land. I didn't know what to expect. The place looks like your typical bar, so I expected your typical bar food. And for the most part, that's what you'll find on the menu. As far as beer goes, there's a nice selection of craft brews in bottles and on draft. I always appreciate that. Where this place really shines are the specialty sandwiches. I ordered "The Barnyard" - which was basically a beef, grilled chicken and bacon cheesesteak with choice of cheese, aioli and roasted red peppers. Holy cow. It was amazing, it was probably one of the best unexpected orders I'd ever made. I'd welcome another chance to come back for lunch and feast on their other creations. Also -- there were six of us who came here for lunch, all of us ordered a meal and half of us had 1 drink. The bill came out to just under $70, which in my opinion is more than fairly priced.

I went here with my aunt and uncle right after I got into the Philly area. I was really impressed by the service that we got with a large group we're meeting there. The server knows all their first names, now that is impressive! When you first walk into the place you notice the old wood floors, then you look up and see all the pigs that are hanging down from the raptors. This place as a really cool old bar smell as well. You really only smell it when you first walk into the place. After that, it just went away. I think they have a pretty good selection of wine/beer/ hard drink to choice from. You can also order food from the menu which I hear is pretty good. If I go back anytime soon, I'll be go back to the Flying Pig!

I really enjoy this place. I've been here about 4 or 5 times now and its make for a great local watering hole. First of all, don't let the outside intimidate you. Its a little beat up on the outside, and also on the inside, but all the more appeal in my opinion. You will find a small square bar on the inside filled with an eclectic mix of humans and tables strewn about everywhere. You will also find an excellent bottled beer selection and rotating taps. The real gem is their collection of bottle conditioned beers at very fair prices. Pay a visit and order anything with pork as the main ingredient.

BEER, BEER, BEER Amazing beer selection, lots on tap and a ton more in bottles and cans. The portobello mushroom burger is awesome. The staff is fairly friendly. If your sitting at a table it could take a little while to get a beer. They have a good amount of TVs and always have a game on. Definitely have a good time during eagles games.

Had not been here for years and last time I went it was musty inside and felt like it needed some cleaning/airing out - though I would still go because the beers were great and they have great sandwiches. Went in August 2012 and place felt totally different - cleaned up, great new food items, a definite recommendation in my book!

The great beer selection, cute pig decor, and comfy couches in the front made this a great happy hour place. It's not too often that you'll find me in Malvern, but a friend hosted a happy hour here and I was intrigued. There were no happy hour specials per se, but the ~100+ beer choices were enough for me. Both the cherry sour ale on draft and the Lucifer (Belgian strong ale) that I tried were delish. The decor was cute and comfy - pigs EVERYWHERE... but not tackily so. I appreciated the little lounge area with comfy couches to chill on, and the wooden walls and bar made this place seem quite cozy. The place seemed a little unaccustomed to our large noisy group of 15 or so... the staff handled it well and were friendly, but our waitresses seemed a little overwhelmed at times. The rest of the crowd appeared to be somewhat regulars. I wouldn't come here with such a large group next time, but certainly with a couple of friends. Get your swine on.

I landed there as part of a company celebration (we are a low keyed company who likes beer). The combination of warm and cozy interior combined with a terrific beer menu and what was a fantastic roast pork sandwich with extra sharp provolone and long hots (best I've had outside South Philly) made this an instant favorite (I just wish I lived closer) I am not the beer aficionado that many of the people in my company are but I had a recommended porter that was terrific and I heard many OOOOO's and AHHHH's from the thrilled and satisfied palates of my fellow guests. We need more places like the Pig in America (seriously) with all of the corporate restaurants with too many microwave ovens and falsely cheerful servers we need places that reconnect us with what our identity was back in the day when politics and sports were openly discussed, argued and share in public spots all over the country. Places like this should be celebrated and enjoyed. The only reason I don't give the Pig a 5 is because I think I want to revisit before claiming its as good as it gets but I think its well on its way to 5+.

I met some people here after work and had a great time. It is your typical neighborhood pub and I was impressed with their beer list. It seemed extensive. I had both beer and wine and felt that my tastes were met. Appetizers were standard bar fare. At times I felt the servers had a bit of an attitude/chip on their shoulder but maybe that is a locals thing. Whatever it was, it didn't impact my time. Another plus is they sell beer to go. Yes, we paid $8.5 for a six pack of Coors light but hey, it is worth it when you can't get beer elsewhere and you want to continue the good time... I look forward to returning and trying their stout!

4 Stars for the beer only as they have a tremendous selection at affordable prices. If you are going there to eat, I give it a 2. But the service was very good. It is just bar food and gets really loud as the patrons are just enjoying a few beers after work. Definitely worth the trip for the beer. Not recommended for the food.

I went because a friend was performing - what a fun place! Great beer selection, very chill vibe, and the menu was a big plus. The grilled cheese sandwich was outstanding. Live music on occasion, good bartenders - this place was excellent.

Incredibly friendly. Before I could ask the barman if he was okay with me bring my bicycle into the saloon (by design, I was looking for lunch, post-midday-crunch time), he immediately offered me water. "YES, please." (Weather outside 98 degrees.) Killer selection of beers, draft and bottles. Tasty cheesesteaks, a part of Philly, area culture if not yet sampled. Amenable interior and conversational patrons. Dark, cool but zero smoke or suffocating tent of yester-beer fumes. I became a member of Yelp to write this review!

Nirvana. Arcadia. Heaven. Perfection. These words do not properly describe The Flying Pig. If you love...I mean love in a way that some would call unnatural...pubs, traditional bars, or good old fashioned watering holes...you will love The Flying Pig. If you go to some crappy chain place where you can get 3.99 buffalo wings and 2 dollar draft bud...then you will hate The Flying Pig...and guess what...The Flying Pig hates you. The Flying Pig is for people who want to watch sports, listen to a great jukebox and drink some of the finest beer this planet has to offer. Yes, you will pay 5,6, sometimes 7 bucks for a pint...and if you believe in the healing power of beer...you will know that it is a cheap price to pay. The food is good, I wouldn't say outstanding, but it is very good. The sandwiches are excellent, the mozzarella sticks were great, and the cheese fries were good, but not crisp enough. The food is all about one dollar too much for what you get, but it is what it is. They have at least 6 or 7 tv's to watch the games, the decor is rustic and comforting. This is one of the finest bars I have ever been in...and I have been in a lot!

Let's keep in mind this is a "saloon" or bar. But a "dive bar" it is not. You're either a girly-girl or never actually set foot in a real dive bar (see Plumstead Inn Media, The Wave Drexel Hill). This is a pub. The Pig's beer selection is the best you will find just about anywhere. Do you like IPAs, stouts, pilsners, barley wines from Belgium, across the USA, Czech Republic, Japan? You name it they probably have it either on tap or in bottle. They keep the beer list fresh and are bold enough to offer an eclectic selection including seasonal brews. The food is good traditional pub grub. It's a small corner bar that you can take your date, boss or parents and all are sure to enjoy the fine beers and a crab cake sandwich. If you are looking to become a beer connoisseur, this is the place to start. The beer enthusiast inside of me requires that I give 5 stars.

Good beer selection, fine food, it will do. Love the decor and the atmosphere. I am really surprised however, at how many people praise the service here! I've been coming ever since I moved in down the street a year ago and every time hope it's going to get better. I've spent half my night trying to get a refill - turned around in my chair staring down a waitress who is talking to the bartender/watching TV. After we get our food we're often forgotten for the rest of the night. Once we waited 15 minutes after finally flagging someone down and asking for a check to receive that check. I understand being busy, I have worked in restaurants before, even an eye-check would help. I almost want to take it personally when I am in there, and now that I see how many people claim they have had fine service, good even, I might start! I don't know what I did to make you mad, Flying Pig, I have always just wanted to love you!

If you're a beer fan living around Philly, I highly recommend making a visit to the Pig, since it has one of the best beer selections in the Philadelphia area. A fantastic selection of Belgian beers. The Flying Pig is a rarity, because there are not many bars in suburban Philadelphia with that vast of a selection. If you're hungry, the food is decent, but not out of this world. The Pig is definitely a local hangout, and the crowd can vary widely depending on the time of day. Numerous reviews have refereed to the Flying Pig as a "dive bar," which couldn't be further from the truth. If you think the Flying Pig a dive bar, then you've never stepped foot in a real dive bar. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Di… If you're looking for parking at night, try the furniture store nearby.

The pig is a nice local bar. There is a good beer selection - more than you would find at your average bar. The place is crazy packed on friday nights. The food - standard bar fare, though extensive - has never dissapointed me. It has also never amazed me either. the staff seems to be nonexistant at times which is frustrating. All in all the Flying Pig is a solid place to have a burger and some beers.

Good food, friendly service, and probably the most extensive beer selection in the western suburb of Philadelphia (Chimay on tap!). Obviously a local hangout but they treat visitors well. Highly recommend the cheesesteak & pulled pork sandwiches, but be forewarned the latter with peppers is HOT, I was sweating and I'm used to spicy food.

I hosted a get-together with a group of 10 of us before we headed to Immaculata Univ for the Banff Mnt Film Fest. This was a recommendation from a friend at the event and it was a great recommendation. This place is a bit tiny but it has a great and wonderful atmosphere. It feels like an old-time saloon. I had the pulled-pork sandwich with cole-slaw which was good. A friend had the crab cakes which I sampled and it was good. The selection of beer is great and had a hoppy beer but forget what it was called. Get there early since it fills up fast. There is street parking but I found a better place down the road with municipal parking. Be prepared for waiting for your check. They hand-write the bill so it takes a while for them to add it up. If you have a party bigger than 10, you might be in trouble since it is small. The owner was nice enough to get us a round table and squeeze us in with small chairs.

You can always tell when Paoli hospital shift change is taking place. The bar fills up with scrubs. Not people who are scrubby, mind you - just people wearing scrubs. Great selection of beers on tap and a generally interesting atmosphere. Park up the road about a block and walk back. There's really no other alternative.

Imagine this.... You walk into a bar, it's filled with the town's good old people. You don't know anyone, but feel comfortable enough to take a seat next to a townie at the bar. Ok, so let's peruse what they have on tap..... No, bud, no coors, no miller....just a delightful array of foreign ales, ciders, brews, as well as your standards - Yards, Victory, etc. ... I had the Flemish Sour Cherry Ale - taste of cherry and vinegar, at first it was a little hard to take, but by the end I was thoroughly enjoying it and drunk... Thank goodness I could walk home. I think this would be a good place to stop after a walk around town. A shade pricey for these foreign beers, but what's new.

This place is a pretty down-to-earth neighbor hood dive. Albeit the neighbor hood isn't all that down-to-earth, thus the assortment of great beer and flying pigs. As in other establishments in Malvern the crowd is an interesting blend of old and young, wealthy, trendy and just slummin. I suppose this is pretty average for the Mainline. But because of that I don't really recommend this place unless that doesn't bother you at all, or you bring your own set of friends to have a good time. Otherwise who knows, you'll end up having one beer, getting bored and going home.

So I checked out this bar a few weeks ago for a happy hour. While the parking situation kinda sucks here - I prefer lots to street parking, I did luck out and found a spot within yards of the bar. Definitely dive bar-ish, but as everyone else mentioned, cute pigs with wings everywhere! They were so cute the klepto in me was about to come out... But anyway, they had a pretty large variety of fun-named beers. I forgot the name of the beer I had but it was berry tasting and deelish. Definitely recommended for enthusiastic beer drinkers.

We just moved to Malvern and the first place we tried was the Flying Pig. We live within walking distance, which makes for an easy decision on where to go. The food is great bar food, sandwiches are excellent - so far, we've tried the prime rib (outstanding), grilled cheese with ham (excellent), cuban (yummy) as well as a variety of appetizers. I'm not a beer drinker, but if you have one in the family, this is the place for them. They have a ton of beers available, listed including alcohol percentage. This has become one of our favorite bars/restaurants.

Great beer selection but I haven't eaten there. Love the "pig-themed" decor. Try to get the lounge seating in front - comfortable chairs and couches with inexplicable kid-art and pig tchochkes abound. Last time I was there the bartender was really sullen to our group, not sure why. Can get crowded, making the bar hard to access.

Had my first visit here last weekend, couldn't have been happier with the service, beer and food. Came from Teresa's Next Door first, which was a completely different atmosphere forsure, but I think I liked Flying Pig better. The beer selection, while not as extensive, is still pretty great and the food was good and reasonably priced. I read something about surly waitresses in other reviews, and my experience couldn't have been more different. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Plus the place was packed, so she was all of these things while being extremely busy. I'll definitely be back to the Flying Pig again soon and am already looking forward to it!

A great neighborhood pub! The selection and variety of beer on tap and in a bottle has got to be the best in Chester County if not all of Philly. Eulogy and Monks would rival the Pig in this category. Good pub-fare! Daily happy hour specials - Wednesday Prime Rib is top shelf!! Very eclectic mix of patrons ranging from the locals of Malvern to construction workers to Vanguard and Wyeth staff. Great pub for a cold pint and pub grub! Just be aware that this isn't the City and smoking is very much allowed.

One of the hidden gems of the suburbs. Their beer selection is huge! It has a nice atmosphere with a glowing ambiance inside. Food is great! Prices are what you expect! This is still my favorite bar. If you love beer, you gotta check out their beer cellar listings!

This place is a couple hundred yards from my apartment. That proximity not withstanding, this may be one of the best places I have ever been too. Its filled with locals and they are all friendly when new people come in. The beer selection is as good if not better than other main line places, and they don't advertise their tap list, so when they get beers like Pliny the Elder on tap, I kind of have it to myself. Their food is awesome. The wings are big and delicious. Their roast pork with sharp provolone and italian long hots is my go to sandwich, its sooooooo good.....Dinics is the only comparable sandwich I would put above it. Their staff is very good. The bartenders are incredibly attentive and once they get to recognize you, they are even better. The wait staff is always there when you need them. Even if the place is jam packed, service is always top notch. You can tell the owner takes pride in the place, he may be the hardest working person in the place, and that is not meant to be a slight on any of the staff. All in all a top notch place. Perfect for casual dates, get together with friends, family friendly evening/dinner. I cannot say anything bad about this place.

So although I played on a baseball that was sponsored by them (we were the Chester Valley Flying Pigs), I'm not a huge fan of the Pig. My guess is that my unfair biased is based on my proximity to the bar my entire life. The best aspect of The Pig is it's beer selection. I have never found another neighborhood pub with such an extensive list of imported, domestic and micro-brewed beer. The worst aspect of The Pig is the crowd. It can be a weird mix of older locals and 20 somethings.

I can't give it less than 5. Here I am visiting an old buddy who's lived in Malvern for years and years and I end up in his local watering hole. What a great watering hole! I wish I had one this good near my place in S.F.! Excellent beer choice. Lots of Belgians. Didn't eat, just drank and watched the basketball. The place was pretty packed on a Thurs. I wish I had visited the Pig much sooner. Here's to next time.

here piggy piggy piggy good piggy So who knew there was an actual Malvern center? not me until today. But on the suggestion of a friend, and the fellow yelpers that gave this good points, I went here tonight for dinner and to watch the Flyers pull out an OT victory. The place is cool. Sat at the bar - and yes, I smell like an ashtray thanks to the couple next to me that finished an entire pack during the first period - but I am mostly satisfied with the experience. The draught selection is impressive - and the service is bang on. The food - well, my sandwich hit the spot, but frankly I can't imagine anyone really comes here for the food - and I probably wouldn't rush back for it either - but for a few pints, a Phillies, Sixers, or Flyers game - and some good random chatting - yeah, this is the place for that. the guy next to me said he lives 2 doors down. he's a lucky bastard.

One of the best bars known to man. Jumped over their couch and landed in the lap of a beautiful girl that I now call my wife and my son calls Mom!

Went to the Flying Pig on Friday after work to grab a beer and dinner with a friend. The bar was packed--not a seat available in the place, except for one bar stool which we took because the women next to us said they were leaving in 5 minutes and we could have one of their stools--needless to say we were there for over an hour and the women never left--talk about rude! I would have said something on our way out but they were scary looking and I didn't want to cause any trouble. Needless to say I stood at the bar and ate. We had two beers (they have a nice selection) and we got two sandwiches. We got the Barnyard which has grilled chicken breast chipped beef, peppers, onions, and cheese sauce--that sandwich rocked! I would definitely get it again. We also go the Buffalo Chicken Wrap which I thought was disappointing--it had a strange aftertaste--almost minty--it was weird. Overall, I would go back.
