    Tried this place for lunch today - the BBQ was really great. It was not crowded and the sauces were delicious. The fries were amazing! We will definitely be regulars here for lunch.

    Had a good experience tonight at Fat Jack's. The food was definitely better than Jimmy's down the road, and tons better than Engine 23 Smokehouse BBQ in Morton. I would say they were a half-notch below Barbacoa in Ardmore, but very close. We ordered 1/2 lb Brisket, and a Combo meal. The brisket was tender and full of flavor. Burnt ends were AWESOME! Pulled pork was very good. The meats didn't need sauce, which says a LOT. Very tasty! The mac n cheese was baked (which the BBQ-savvy always say is the way to go), and it had a good portion of cheese. No complaints. The coleslaw had a nice celery taste, which was a nice surprise in the flavor. Crisp cabbage. A little watery for our taste, but to each his own. There was no cornbread included with the combo meal my husband got, which was odd for comparable menus at similar places. That was disappointing; it would have been nice to round out the meal. Overall good eats.

    I've been excited about Fat Jack's opening in Malvern ever since I heard about it. Over the weekend I made my first visit. My order: 1/2 rack rib platter with brisket (with Hot BBQ sauce), the Notorious PIG sandwich, collard greens, smashed loaded potatoes, and potato salad. The ribs were seriously good. As mentioned previously they're meaty and have a nice "bark." The deep mahogany color of the rub proves the old adage "we eat with our eyes." The Hot BBQ sauce was a great enhancement. The brisket was a huge fail; bone dry, not much flavor, and with only a shmear of sauce. The Notorious PIG sandwich was OK. The menu states "Cajun maple syrup" but all I tasted was maple syrup; some kind of spice was needed to balance the sweetness. Sides: the potato salad was tasty but watery; they need to drain the potatoes better during prep. The collard greens were a bit bland for my taste but even more to my dislike was the mincing of the greens. The loaded smashed potatoes were excellent. I find the prices to be reasonable and the service was friendly and quick when I cashed out. I rate FJ's 4 stars only because the ribs killed it and that's what matters most to me.

    Yep. It is good. A little pricy, but the quality is there. I have only had the ribs and they have been consistently superior. I might even come back and add a star since BBQ this good is impossible to buy around these parts!

    This guy came out to get a box with two ladies but that's another story so he gets the box and drops it and then he throws the rest of he box by the car and grabs the bag witch had been in the dirty pavement and then grabs the bag and brings it inside! And when they came out he had a rag witch he started whopping the other 2 ladies one black and one white with the rag!

    I was in mood to try some BBQ when I saw Fat Jack's. The music played inside was nice and laid back, so you can sit back and eat. I tried the brisket fries, which has BBQ sauce, cheese and brisket. They were okay. The brisket ends have a great smokey taste to them. Everything else in the basket was so so. The fries were not hot enough to melt the cheese so that was a little worrisome. For the sandwich I had the Texas Twister. It was good, again the brisket was the highlight of the sandwich. The chicken was lost in the brisket and Cole slaw flavors. The same can be said of the onions. If you are a mustard based BBQ person, be prepared to go wanting. All the sauces are either vinegar or ketchup based on the tables. I really couldn't try the Carolina vinegar sauce as it had settled. The best sauce was the smoking hot BBQ sauce. I recommend getting the brisket and leaving the rest of the menu alone.

    Gave this place many tries. I ordered pulled pork sandwiches in three different occasions. The first two sandwiches were beyond dry. The pork was hard as a rock. Disgusting. The last sandwich I got was very undercooked and still pink. I don't know why they can't seem to cook their pork correctly. Will not be going back.

    Waited months for this place to open & was excited when it did. Since this is not the first satellite location, there should not have been too many kinks, if any. I went there today late afternoon - 4 pm ish - no line & only a couple customers there at that time. I will start off with the positive. The service was good. The nice, young woman behind the register was lovely, pleasant and all around nice. I paid $19.60 for an over-priced, meal that hardly had any bulk to it. Hugely disappointed for the amount versus cost. I ordered the 1/2 slab combo BBQ plate. Utterly disappointing & angry for the price I paid. I choose the ribs & pulled pork with different sauces, 2 sides - smashed potato w/gravy, Mac and cheese, I thought I said cornbread - but didn't get it. The sauces were very good - mild & honey. I asked to sample them before I ordered. The pulled pork was semi-dry, and the sauce was barely there, so I got the actual flavor of the pork in its plain form, bland, no seasoning. The ribs were dry & tough & bland, no flavor other than the sauce. They tasted burnt - so I couldn't detect the rub. But I got a little more sauce on ribs than pulled pork. The smashed potatoes were very good; I had to pay extra for the potatoes & the gravy - the gravy was supplied in a 1.5 oz container. That isn't even the size of a side of ketchup that you can pump into those little plastic cups. The gravy was thick like glue, barely warm. Mac & cheese was bland, barely warm and the cheese wasn't even melted - something you get when re-heat food via microwave. In fact, everything was barely warm, let alone hot. I thought I ordered cornbread but I guess not - that costs extra too on top of this overpriced BBQ plate. I called in to speak with someone and the gentleman apologized and offered to "come back tomorrow to make it right." I don't think I'll be going back at all. Hugely disappointed; overpriced for quantity & subpar food. The potatoes & sauces were very good - that's it. The wait was not worth it.

    Great ribs and great staff. Need to go back and try some of the dry rub ribs instead of ribs in sauce. Had the beans and corn as sides and it was delicious.

    I'm normally a Yelper that takes pride in being the first to Yelp a new place if I can. Lately I've been rethinking that pride. I mean, is it really fair to judge a place on it's first day of operations? Don't they have to work the kinks out first? Yes they do, and Fat Jack's is no different. They'll be working out their kinks I am sure. However... In this particular case, I waited months for this place to open. Judging by the crowd today, a lot of us did. They've had a lot of time to prepare the atmosphere, and given that the owner is well experienced in running a barbecue restaurant, I have no qualms about judging his food or the look of the place right out of the gate. First, the basic stuff. The place looks great. Everyone there was very nice on day one. It took 25 minutes to get food so we will chalk that up to them getting swamped on day one. None of that matters. What's going to bring me back is the food. And I made sure to choose a sampler plate to get as much of the experience as possible. I've said before that I'm not necessarily a barbecue expert, but I can be a barbecue snob. Here's what I sampled reviewed one by one... Brisket burnt ends... I've had these before at a favorite BBQ spot in Maryland so I know something about them. These had good enough flavor, great tenderness, maybe slightly on the dry side which happens with brisket, but it's nothing a good dose of sauce won't fix. Some may not like it for that reason though. Plus they charge a buck extra for these on a combo plate, and next time I'll just get the regular brisket because I don't think this dish warrants special consideration in that regard. I felt like I could have gotten the same experience with regular brisket. Pulled chicken... It went well with the mild sauce which was somewhat bold in its own way. Not exciting, but not bad. Pulled pork... Tender, juicy, mildly flavored. Again, it went well with the vinegar based Carolina style sauce on the table. Ribs... This is what this place made its reputation on, so I was really ready to critique these (especially since they charge 3 bucks extra on a combo if you choose them, so they better be damn good to do that) Good amount of dry rub, good crust to the meat without being overwhelming, tender without falling off the bone (which is the most important thing), not as smoky as I thought they might be. I'll certainly eat them again. I won't call them best I ever had, but I'll call them excellent. It didn't need the sauce to be good like everything else did. It was worth the added price. Mac and cheese... It's not the baked southern style you might expect. But the cheese sauce does have good flavor to it. I was personally hoping for something more authentic but it isn't bad. Grilled corn... Maybe the corn just isn't in season. It was ok but it didn't wow me. Cornbread... Exceptionally moist. I'd have eaten more if they gave me more. My friend, Frank, who had lunch with me, was thrilled with his Notorious PIG sandwich, which made me want to try it next time. In fact, I did come back the next day and tried that sandwich for myself (I'm not screwing around here). The combination of pork products with the sweetness of the syrup is a winner. This is one hell of a sandwich. The side of potato salad I ordered initially came out frozen (gotta adjust that refrigerator a bit), but that was rectified quickly with a replacement batch. Very good once I got the right batch. The wait for my food was far less than it was on day one. One more thing... The sweet potato pie, it doesn't suck, not even a little bit. Now, will I call it the best barbecue I've ever had? No. Can't do that. Can't even call it best in the Philly area. It takes a lot to knock off Sweet Lucy's. But it is better than the local competition in the Malvern area for barbecue. That I can say.

    Malvern's newest 'Que restaurant is the fast growing local chain Fat Jacks. Located 5 minutes down the street from Jimmys, there's a competition going on every day and night for your BBQ dollars. For me, the winner is Fat Jacks. It has to start with the ribs. Fat Jacks are OUTSTANDING! Cooked in the smoker over 10 hours, these St Louis style ribs delivered on taste. I expected that considering the founder and owner has amassed hundreds of trophies from winning BBQ competitions all over the USA PLUS he was picked to be on the BBQ show Grillmasters where he came in 2nd place by a point its first season. This place knows what its doing in delivering the best ribs around the area although overall Sweet Lucy's in NE Philly wins by a slight margin due to excellence in everything - sides and ribs. The BBQ chicken breast was delicious. Beef brisket was way too dry for my liking. The hot BBQ wings were very tasty. I liked the four BBQ sauce options as well as the dry rub. Sides were hit and miss. Mac and cheese tasted like Kraft out of the box. Cole slaw too much mayo. Hits were the baked beans and collard green Staff was great as was service. Both my lady and I will be back. I enjoyed ice cold beer from the Beer Store in the same mall. After all , beer and BBQ go together!

    Picked up food here last night to take to my parents house for my dad's birthday (He loves bbq). Placed my order ahead of time since it would be a fairly large order ($83). I told the girl i would be there around 4:20, and showed up at 4:15. They haven't even started my order. After waiting 10 plus minutes, i was walking to my car thinking how small my bag was for just spending so much money. I decided to go through to make sure everything was correct (I'm so glad I did). Turns out they forgot 2 out of the 3 meat entrees I ordered (I ordered the squeal meal family pack). I went back and they apologized and after 10 more minutes i receieved what i payed for. I am assuming if the person preparing the food was mot on his phone the entire time planning for the weekend, i may have had my order correct the first time. After trying everything, i can say some things are pretty good, and some are ok at best. The ribs, pulled pork, wings, beans, and loaded potatoes are pretty good. The brisket, corn bread were just ok. The mac and cheese was one of the worst i have ever had (they did reheat it in the microwave before placing it in a bad so that should have been my first hint). I did drive a little out of my way to get this, so i have to take that into consideration. After taking everything into consideration, I will probably not be visiting this establishment in the future, which is disappointing because this place is only 10 minutes from work and many people were curious on how it would be since the menu looked so good.

    I accidentally ran into this BBQ joint and had to try it coz am a big fan of BBQ. I tried the Texas Twister which I'd recommend to everyone trying something new. Penalized for being on the higher side for sodium(which doesn't work for me). I definitely driving all the way back for more coz good BBQ just seems hard to find on this side of the Mississippi Juicy sandwich - I think there's a need to upgrade the napkins/paper towels on the table - you will need them!

    Its tough to do BBQ in the north. In the south, there is constant business, so it's always fresh and not have to be reheated as often...problem for joints up here. So, I asked what had just been smoked that day, and wouldn't need to be warmed up. The lady told me the pork, so I got the pork and sausage and two sides. THE BAD-everything but the greens and sausage was lukewarm, the pork was clearly reheated and still almost cold, fries were lukewarm and way over salted; the sausage was way way oversalty too. THE GOOD- greens were very good, sausage was excellent despite being so salty; and despite being reheated, the pork was pretty legit with a nice ring (not always easy with pork butt) and good BBQ sauce. RECOMENDATION: put a menu up; the few paper ones on the counter are unnoticeable. So people get to the register, and only then start looking, which slows it down, especially when there's already a line.

    This place is ridiculously over priced and the food is mediocre. The prices would be justified if the portions were large or the food was better. The pulled chicken was ice cold and the "smoked" brisket didn't have any real smoked flavor. I couldn't believe a meal for 2 was almost $40

    Stopped in for a quick launch and enjoyed the pulled chicken sandwich. Chicken was moist and the portion size was good for lunch. Would come back again to try some of the other meats - the pulled pork looked good.

    Took the kids. Relaxed atmosphere. They are messy kids who love this BBQ spot. I had the wings in traditional BBQ sauce. Outstanding.

    I thought I would give this place a try. I love BBQ so I was very excited. I ordered through grub hub and had it delivered. The order was wrong, my drink and extra rolls were missing. I also asked for the slaw on the side of my sandwich but they did not honor that either. After the driver left, I called the location and no one answered so I called the driver back. The excuse I got was that they were very busy. The driver offered to bring the drink and rolls back. A few minutes later, she called me back and said the reason why the rolls were not in the bag was because they were not thawed. What?! A southern BBQ joint that does not make rolls from scratch? Ugh! I was really hoping the food would make up for that. As I waited for my drink to be delivered, I started eating. The first thing were the brisket fries, so salty I thought. I asked my daughter and she said yeah and so is my sandwich. The drink was relievers. At this point I had not eaten my regular food yet. As I stated eating, everything was so salty. Even the cole slaw! Not only was the order messed up but the food was not good. Two of the meats were tough, the pork and brisket. Two were underdone, the pork belly and the burnt ends?! Who undercooks burnt ends?!! I hope that this place was just having a bad night, I may give them one more try but not anytime soon:

    Sloooooowwwwww service with hardly anyone in the place. The manager (if that's who he was) had to come back to my table three times to ask me what I ordered since "he didn;t take my order". Funny but they had no problem figuring out what I ordered when they rang me up. The chicken sandwiches were good, so were the fries. The ribs at 16.99 or 18.99 i forget which were NOT. My son wouldn't eat them and when I took a bit, I thought the same. When I told the manager, he offered to bring me out chicken fingers or "hook me up" tomorrow but no offer to refund. Like I had the time or desire as they were closing to wait again for chicken fingers. I hate when you give people a chance and they don;t really come to the table. So I won;t be going back to their table ever. Suggest you don;t either.

    Finding good BBQ in the western main line area is kind of like trying to hunt a woolly mammoth - impossible. There was nothing - the situation was far worse than the pizza void that STILL exists in the area. Then, I walked into Fat Jacks. Could it be? REAL BBQ that's actually good in Malvern? One answer - YUP! OK, I know it's a small chain now in the area but it's very, very good. So far, I've been there twice. The first time, I had the memphis dry rub ribs. They were excellent. For my most recent visit I stumbled upon something called the Notorious P.I.G. (hilarious). This sandwich is a little slice of artery clogging heaven. All of your favorite pig parts, smoked & seasoned to perfection and piled (really) high on a super fresh bun. With a drink and (a lot) of fries my bill was sub-$11. BTW - they sauce the damn thing with a spicy maple syrup glaze...AMAZING. Seriously, if you're in the Malvern area do yourself a favor and stop by. I have a hard time not pulling into the shopping center every time I go by.
