First off, why can't Malvern get with it and outlaw smoking in restaurants. it's so weird to walk into a place and get asked "smoking or non-smoking" these days. And it's weird to note that there really isn't a non-smoking section in a restaurant that allows it somewhere - it permeates. Blah blah blah, I know So hit this place at lunch, and the food is fairly standard. My co-diner LOVES the fries here, but as well found them standard. For noon on a Tuesday, it was packed (including the bar, full of drinkers) but it was so dark inside. service was polite, menu was standard burgers and sandwiches - God, it's so hard to write a review on a place that really had no impact on anything but the tightness of my belt. there are better options here (and anywhere) - so find them

I've been eating lunch here for years. It's close to my office, it's affordable, the food is good and it's fast. The waitresses really make an effort to serve you fast but with a smile. I will continue go here with friends and take my employees here for offsite meetings.

I think the problem with alot of these reviews is that people are expecting too much from Baxters. I go periodically on my lunch break and it's convenient because it's close to where i work. I've gone several times and I've never had bad service. They always remember me every time i go in which is nice. The food well is as other reviewers said ok, i mean it's typical bar food, so your not getting high quality food here, but i've never had any problems with it. I usually get take out and it's still warm when i get back to work which is nice. I have also sat down in there and ate and the waitress was very nice each time. So if your looking for fine quality dining i suggest you look elsewhere, but if your looking for an old small time bar to eat I would suggest giving Baxters at least one try.

You know that bar in your hometown that's always been there, has no food you can remember, has no staff you can remember, has no drink you can remember, and you can't for the life of you figure out how they stay open? That's this place. The only memorable thing is that they let customers smoke in the outdoor seating area, which you need to go through to enter the restaurant. Other than that this place is forgettable.

I recently came up to Malvern on business and met some colleagues here for lunch, and it ended up being a dining disaster. This place is a prime candidate for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. First of all, the hostess and waitress situation is bizarre. I felt like I was interrupting gossip hour when I asked for a table. The menu showed potential, and I was really in the mood for a light lunch, so I ordered the special quiche of the day. The others at the table ordered stuffed tomatoes and the seared tuna. Let's start with the worst of the three: the quiche. It was an under-cooked brick with little flavor. The crust was raw and inedible, there was very little spinach (it was a florentine quiche), but there was plenty of swiss, which instead of being mixed into the egg, it was heaped on top and melted into a piece of rubber. It's not good when you need a steak knife to cut through a quiche! The stuffed tomatoes were two, small raw tomato halves with a scoop of tuna salad on each. It was laughable. Then there's the expensive seared tuna, which looked like a 4oz tuna wedge. We asked for medium rare, but instead, it arrived very rare. It looked so tiny sitting next to a massive pile of lettuce. It was also strange that the service I received was very good, while my colleagues had nearly no service at the same table. She kept refilling my drink, but we had to laugh over the person sitting next to me with the empty soda for nearly the entire meal. I reserve one star reviews for the worst of the worst, but I really had to think about it on this one.

Slightly dated, slightly divey. Good service, reasonable prices. All in all a nice little watering hole if that's your thing.

Baxter's gets to be my 200th review. Yes, owners of Baxter's, you should be honored! Oddly enough, I have never come here of my own volition. Every single time I have been here, it is because my office had a party here. Now, this is not because I do not like the food. But it is because the menu here doesn't really excite me. Talk about basic American pub fare, this place practically defines it. I just have no desire to make it a regular stop. To me, it's not much more exciting than a Ruby Tuesday's in that regard. However... today, I did enjoy the Maryland Crab Soup as well as a crab cake entree at yet another office holiday gathering. In fact, I really enjoyed the entree, even the cole slaw was good and I don't eat it too often. To me, it's good. I've never had a bad meal here. Service is also quick. It's just doesn't strike me as a special place to go. Maybe decent is the best description.

Slow service, no checks for water, did not honor check-in discount. The food was okay, nothing impressive but the prices were decent.

1st time visit after the remodeling which seemed to only be a Mexican motif on the walls. The menu retains some bar food (burgers, sandwiches) and adds Mexican items (enchiladas, fajitas, burritos). Wish they would have refinished the tables and renovate the bathrooms instead. The American Burger I had was a freshly made patty done perfectly and delicious. My friend had the open face roast beef which he loved. Although the food was good, I probably won't be going back due to lack of ambience. Seems to be a lost restaurant looking for an identity!

My friend was staying across the street at the Homewood Suites and we decided to walk across the street for dinner and drinks. She had eaten at Baxter's the night before and highly recommended the french onion soup. We both got our own bowls and were very happy. The bread is pretty good. The wine selection was limited. I love eggplant parm so I went for the stuffed eggplant and highly recommend. My friend had the salmon (asked for rare) topped with crab meat. The salmon was okay but she loved the crab topping. I would give 5 stars to the service and the decore was very nice.

This is by far the worst food I've ever had. If one wants to find out how you can screw up plain lettuce, this would be the place. Their entrees are mostly preprepared Aramark catered dishes. Stay away.

I have only come here for office luncheon. It was a nasty hole in the wall place in a strip mall next to my gym. The food here is gross and the people working there totally clueless. I even got sick eating some of the apps they served us. On top of it smoking is allowed on the one side. The whole place reeks and its like a dive bar throw back from the 80's. Do not eat here unless you like smoke and being sick. Enjoy....

I am staying at the Extended Stay while working the Sandy storm ( I am an adjuster) and was told Baxter's was a great place to eat. I ordered the Fish and Chips while my co-worker ordered a burger. Service was slow as the place was filling up at the bar with the Friday night crowd. When our orders came I was disappointed. My Fish and Chips were frozen fish sticks (filets) and my co-workers burger was a frozen "BubbaBurger". I am a food snob and I expect a local restaurant to sever fresh food. Obviously the locals don't go there to eat, just drink.

Another place I've been to a many times for lunches at work and happy hour after work. This place has some decent food in a nice setting. The beer prices aren't cheap but this isn't brownies or a crappy bar this is a decent restaurant and a nice place to eat. Go here for a lunch, and enjoy it!

Not much around the area for a decent lunch so I tried this place. I went with the recommended home made meatloaf and it did not disappoint. Also chose the sweet potato fries! Fully satisfying lunch. The decor was decent bar style approach and place was clean with great service from all the staff.

Well, well, well......my old lunchtime friend Baxter's. Things haven't been the same since I moved to a new job. No more Buffalo chicken sandwiches with blue cheese on the side. No more witty banter with the regular drunkards who somehow find the time and money to sit at your bar for hours on end, day after day. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Now, you are just too far away for me to justify wasting the precious fossil fuel in my vehicle to get to you. The food is good. Nothing great, but good bar food. We always went here for lunch when I worked for the largest employer in Chester County (the behemoth known as The Vangaurd Group) and rarely did we have a bad meal. Our bartender was always prompt with our order, sometimes having our drinks ready before we even sat down, and we rarely waited more than 10min for our food no matter what was ordered. They did have an awesome lunch special of filet tips which were off the chart. It wasn't always on the menu, but when it was we would actually call ahead and reserve a few plates just to make sure we got some. Ya, they were that freaking good. But, a 3 star rating is all this place can muster. It's not the worst, but certainly not the best either. If you are in the area and want a decent lunch stop by. Their lunch specials are generally good and the service prompt and attentive.
