If you are looking for authentic PA Dutch food, then this is the place to go. The food was excellent, as well as the service. The portion size was huge and the prices are very reasonable. If you like hot bacon dressing, I suggest getting it as it was fantastic! Also, if you have a restaurant. com coupon they accept them.

Delicious food, wonderful service. We started with the fritter platter, which was yummy. So glad we got off the interstate for this restaurant.

If looking for authentic Amish food, that's served in what feels like an old house with a tiny kitchen in the back, Deitsch Eck is your spot. They serve scrapple, which is just fried mixed meat, but even though I was not sure what it was, it tasted delicious dipped in apple butter. I also was a big fan of the potato pancakes with apple sauce and the corn fritters. All fried, all delicious, all authentic, all good.

So why a five star? Because all the checks were met: food, service, location, atmosphere and price!! Thank you yelpers for your reviews - without them we would have not tried this restaurant. Understand this is not a chain, it's a small town restaurant with good quality, homemade food and service so the interior promotes its heritage. We had the fritter sample, Shepard's pie (not greasy!), and the BEST Ruben sandwich (not fatty nor greasy). Dessert was homemade apple Carmel crumb pie a la mode and strawberry rhubarb custard pie- oh yeah, we were full!!!! Loved this hidden treasure, a short distance from route 78!

I would love to look at this place without any preconceived notions and without having read all the nice reviews. Even though It is probably the only decent somewhat interesting place to eat on a long drive to Fallingwater or Pittsburgh or further into America's middle. The place is uniquely decorate in quaint idyllic pennsylvania-dutch decoration and wall painted symbolism. You are served by a group of several pennsylvania teenagers that have fairly dutch attitudes. The food is pretty dutch and by that I mean pretty boring. There isn't much to it. There's meat and there's potatoes and other types of potatoes and more potatoes. Then there's the fritters potato fritters, apple fritters, corn fritters, meat fritters. It sits on a block with five other buildings surrounding it and is right of the interstate.

Excellent small town restaurant with a good mix of Pennsylvania Dutch food and other standard fare. Homemade food and pies did not disappoint. Shepards pie was great!

This establishment makes food just like my PA Dutch grandma does (which is obviously delicious). Friendly and prompt serving staff and the dining environment is uniquely decorated. Great food, great value!

The food was exactly what it needed to be. A perfect meal. Great sides, fine service and an unassuming but friendly atmosphere.

We waited 15 mins to be seated, no line, not crowded. No one ever came so we left...maybe they only serve locals? Shame, food smelled great.

Except for church suppers and grandma's kitchen, you'll be pressed to find PA Dutch fare as authentic as that being served at Deitsch Eck. Start with a bottle of Reading Draft sarsaparilla and the fritter sampler. Whatever entree you order (like the chicken & waffles, or the smoky ham steak, or even big, juicy fried shrimp) be sure to load up on the incredible side dishes. And save room for pie (apple crumb and coconut cream'll knock your socks off). Add to the food the friendly deitsch speaking staff (and patrons) and charming hex wall art, and you have a one-of-a-kind regional culinary experience. The place can get crowded. On one Saturday night, we waited close to an hour behind big parties. (The no-nonsense hostess informed us that they arrived without reservations.) But we've also had the place entirely to ourselves. Be mindful that Deitsch Eck is only open for dinner Wed-Sat from 4 to 8pm and Sunday from 11:30am to 7pm. The husband and I find eating here worth every minute of the beautiful drive along the Maiden Creek to Lenhartsville. It has also been the perfect ending to a day hiking nearby Hawk Mountain. Deitsch Eck is great for families too, and we're weaning our nieces and nephews off of Friendly's by bringing them here.

Just simple food, nothing fancy. Not 5 star, wassup reviewers? Granted it was a family style meal I had, the salad was chopped iceberg lettuce... no carrot, no tomato, no nothing. They forgot to season the foods was my other gripe. I guess if you want unadulterated food then sure it works. The people were very nice. Perhaps I need to go back and sample the whole menu, but I don't see this place getting more than 4 stars.

Great place for upper end PA Dutch food. As a PA Dutchie myself, I can verify the authenticity of these dishes, and agree that "it's all in the sides." They serve a delicious Chicken Pot Pie that is served the traditional way - like a soup. It is mouth-wateringly good. Chow-chow, lettuce with bacon dressing, fritters, sasparilla all worth a try. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The atmosphere is laid back country. Deitsch Eck schmacht sehr gut!

If you're looking for the real German food experience, this isn't it. No German beer or any alcohol is served. It's more Pennsylvania Dutch / Amish, simple food, fried everything. Soup was good simple chicken corn noodle, nothing special. Charming Pennsylvania Dutch paintings on the walls and ceiling.

Very glad I asked for recommendations for local flavor restaurant from the clerk at Cabellas which led my wife and I here. First - you can't say anything bad about a restaurant where your stuffed with good food and the bill is only $36. Well maybe you could, but certainly not from me. Just wanted to try something local and we certainly hit the jackpot here. Have to try the pork chop dinner. Can get two fresh or two smoked and for people like me who can't make up their mind they serve one of each. Both very good, but my taste goes more for the smoked. Something about my taste for cured meats. Wife had Scrapple and Meatloaf combination. Combination are allowed when you just want to taste everything. Scrapple is milder than the store bought version. A little less liver taste and lower in salt, but good nonetheless. Meatloaf very good, but the show stopper for us was the potato stuffing. Never heard of it before and had to try as a side. Wow, combination of bread mashed potatoes and other stuff. Great - I suggest getting gravy or sauce on the side and not on stuffing since the stuffing itself has a unique taste that the gravy masks. Other sides were 2-pickled eggs, chutney, lettuce with a bacon sauce (fantastic) and a sampler of fritters. Oh yea two cups of soup. Bean with bacon and chicken noodle. Go with the bean. It is great. We will be back. Great atmosphere and service....... And did I mention the price for all this. Desert looked great, but could not even attempt. No alcohol.

It's all about the sides. We had, and loved, the corn fritters, apple fritters, dutch chips, chow chow pickles, and more. They have a good crunch burger, and even the crab cake was pretty good. We'll be going back. The portions are very generous, so be careful about ordering too many delicious sides. You'll want to save room for desert.

I was a little reluctant to eat here, being it was one of only 2 restaurants in the entire town and sometimes those kind of places stay in business just because there are no other options. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Food was typical PA Dutch fare with huge portions and service was friendly. Lots of desserts, hot cider, and local root beer was a big plus. Oh yeah, and there's a burger on the menu that's served on a glazed donut instead of a bun. I know what I'm getting next time.

Great PA Dutch cooking with a modern twist. Great service. It would get five stars but the parking is iffy when it gets a little busy

This is a neat place. Take time to admire the vintage hex art and be sure to note the ceramic trough and drain underneath the bar in the left dining room. I had meatloaf and filling with gravy and tt was good, but I was disappointed to see Dutchie standard Chicken Pot Pie is only available on Thursday. Also missed seeing the fried chicken on the menu. I visited a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

They do not serve alcohol. Food is good and plentiful. Staff is helpful and friendly. A nice place to stop and eat Pennsylvania-Dutch home-cooked food.

This was the perfect place to stop at lunchtime on our road trip to the Poconos. Very old school and cute. I wish I had had a chance to try the desserts! The Potato Filling was delicious. Bacon dressed salad was great but over dressed - just ask for it on the side. The apps are great - fritters - wow! Potato pancakes - so yummy, and HOT! Recommend the fresh sausage! To top it off, the sauerkraut is terrific. Perfect blend of sweet and sour. It's just the place to have good food on a trip, a much better choice than a chain!
