If you have never been here before, the place is confusing. First, it's located inside a mall. When we finally found it, we came in and were asked if we wanted to see a menu. Obviously we would, as we had no clue what they would be serving otherwise. It took a while to get the menus because the owner had to clean them first. We ordered, and it took about ten minutes to get the food. While we were waiting, we noticed that all the regulars coming in were getting the special of the day--which no one had told us about and that looked really good and happened to be cheaper than the regular menu (as most lunch specials are). The food was pretty good, but the service was so bad that it didn't make up for it.

I was SO excited to try this place.... Now I hope I never have to set foot in there again. I only tried a banana whip -- not lunch -- so granted, I can't speak for the lunch menu. But I found the place to be dingy, dirty, and full of bad vibes! I lived in Ithaca NY for four years, so I'm no stranger to vegetarian/natural/etc. kind of establishments. I'm telling you I wanted to run for the door. Also, save yourself $5 and blend your own frozen bananas and throw a few cashews or whatever in. Seriously... just not my thing.

This review is a long time coming.... A friend had introduced me to this place and I wish she never had. I went into the shop a few yrs ago and Arnold heard my mom had ovarian cancer and was going to have emergency surgery. Arnold actually told me to tell my mother not to have surgery that eating raw would cure her. To come in and he would tell her what she needed to do to be cancer free. Are you out of your mind? I completely agree that eating raw probably does have some health benefits to some extent. But I do feel that the people who work here including the owner gives out information based nothing. None of them are certified nutritionist with any education to back their findings. Arnold has one food group that he eats all day Banana's. He claims he is the epitome of healthy. And that he is in time looking to reverse his aging process. He looks sickly and unhealthy to me. The food is good I did like a lot of things I've tried here. But the place is filthy. So don't be surprised if what you eat off doesn't have bacteria growing on it. I agree with being green and maybe not using harmful chemicals but i' not sure they clean with anything. I really wanted to like this place but too many strange things and people have turned me off. ps.... surgery and all mom is cancer free

I've been meaning to eat here for a while now, which has been a little difficult for me being they are only open until 5 pm, but this weekend I finally made it! It was a race against the clock but Arnold was nice enough to keep the kitchen open a little longer for us. The food was amazing. All 3 of us left Arnold's feeling super happy, energetic, positive and full of love. That may sound painfully corny but it's true - the raw, live food really made us feel wonderful in every sense. I ordered the Sweet Sensation appetizer - a fruit bowl of finely chopped apples (there could have been a pear or two thrown in also), coconut and dates. AMAZING! So crisp and flavorful. For my entree I had Kyle's Smile salad, also amazing. The blend of raw vegetables and nuts topping a bed of greens was like a delicious texture-fest going on, and the agave dressing was spot on. I gave the Rejuvenation juice a try and it is VERY strong. It's a carrot/apple/celery/ginger juice, and I definitely tasted the celery and ginger more than anything else. I also split the Banana Cream Pie whip with my friends and holy cow. Better than ice cream. WAY better than ice cream. Cashews and hemp seeds were sprinkled through the banana whip, and I think it was topped with agave nectar. So, so good. For food like this, the prices are very cheap. Some prepared foods for sale in the store can be a bit pricey but the menu is really affordable. Raw food is generally wildly overpriced, but not at Arnold's! I can't wait to go back.

Back in Lansdale for the Holidays this year, my husband and I stopped by Arnold's for a quick bite to eat. It was great, as usual. We started with the marinated mushroom appetizer, which was really good. We both enjoyed it. My husband ordered the gorilla wrap, which was for sure the best thing we ate - the hummus on it was so delicious that we've been attempting to re-create it at home. I had the spaghetti, which was good, but not stellar. Also, we ordered a green juice and a green smoothie. Hubby loved the juice, and I thought the smoothie was great. It had bananas in it, which I guess we all know Arnold is keen on. For dessert, we had a coconut cheesecake, which was decadent and satisfying - a perfect end! What I love about eating raw is how good I feel afterwards - the food at Arnold's certainly delivered in that area. Another check in the plus column was the waitress/cook - she was so sweet, and nice to talk to. My gripes with this place would have to do with the location. It's pretty hard to find, and I bet they'd gather a lot more business if it was more visible. Meanwhile, the place looks mostly like a small specialty grocery rather than a place that serves food. It'd be nice to have some sort of dedicated seating area that wasn't also a place to shop. Also, as Jennifer L. mentioned, Arnold is a little wacky. But hey, he makes some awesome food and is working hard to share his passion with the world. I can't argue with that.

Arnold's Way is needed because there are a lot of people that need specific diets for nut allergies, gluten-free and vegan. Also good if you want a raw food diet, or just a health food diet in general. The space he has is a little cluttered because he tries to fit a lot of things in it. Not only does he need space for the cafe, he sells books on eating healthy, and he even sells raw-food and organic products. I'm fascinated with this place because I had no idea of all the things you can do with not ever cooking your veggies or processing your protein into tofu. Arnold's Way shows people what you can do with food without putting your body at risk of eating over-processed crap. I wish he had a bigger space to work in though. It gets awfully crowded at times.

This is probably the only place I've eaten in the area that I love. I'm not vegan and I don't have a raw diet. I had a "mock tuna roll" it was made with nuts and wrapped in nori, it was the most delicious thing I've ever had. I think a trip to Arnold's is in order. I need to take my daughter there and introduce her to raw food. It's also very cheap, for how creative and delicious the food is, you can tell they only use very good quality produce.

Relax and read, enjoy a good juice (cran-apple is my favorite), have a meal, then end it with a satisfying banana whip. Delightful and clean food.

I've been meaning to review this place for a while. Arnold's Way is a little health foods store in Lansdale that sells prepared food and some stuff that's made on-site, like smoothies. He also has books and other stuff, all geared toward a vegan/raw foods diet. I'm from the Lansdale area and a friend who still lives there raved about Arnold's Way. Arnold, the owner, holds a lecture on Saturday mornings about eating raw. It's free and includes breakfast -- a green smoothie and a banana. My sister and I went to one of his lectures. I've been a vegetarian since 1997 and I was interested in hearing about eating raw. It was a little uncomfortable because we were the only ones there, and it got even more weird when we realized that Arnold is a little nutty. Not only is he an advocate of the raw food diet, he takes it a step further -- Arnold is a fruitarian. Yes, his diet consists mainly of fruit, and his fruit of choice is the banana. I guess he could be considered a bananatarian? He eats a dozen or more a day, and he kept talking about how healthy he is and how he feels and looks great. Well, he actually looks ill and painfully thin, not at all healthy. At one point, my sister glanced over at me and mouthed, "He's crazy." The health information he discussed seemed suspect, like he claimed that digesting raw food requires less energy, which frees up the body to fight disease more. Can't the body digest food and fight disease effectively at the same time? Some of the stuff he said did make sense, such as looking at the raw diet as adding things, not taking anything away. Even though I think he's wacky, I did make a halfhearted stab at adding more raw stuff to my diet. That didn't last long but it did lead me to seek out information on my own and I did see some benefit to it. I'm giving Arnold's Way three stars. I've made it clear that I believe Arnold is a nutcase, but he does make really good green smoothies and his store stocks just about everything you'd need to launch a raw food diet. (Some of his items seemed overpriced though.) And, apparently there are many people out there who think Arnold is the second coming of Christ. I think the fact that he eats mainly bananas is in no way healthy, so keep that in mind when he tries to convert you. I have to respect a guy who is trying to spread the word about something he believes in. Just make sure to think critically and t do your own research. Every time I eat a banana, I think of Arnold, and wonder how many he's eaten so far that day.

I'm all for being organic when possible and supporting local businesses but I am realistic. If you're the type of person that doesn't bathe regularly because you think its "nature's way" then you may find this review to be biased. Hell, it probably is...I only went once, but first impressions are a son a bitch. I'll start with the bad: This place is DIRTY!!!! I've been to several similar shops but this one struck me as a place that is completely unclean. Just look around- dust, grime, old food stuck to things. It looks like they never wash anything or wipe down the counter, etc. There's a musty smell and things are sticky. There are also old containers laying around. There is so much locally made refrigerated stuff that I bet most of it goes bad before anyone can buy it. I saw a refrigerator door sit open for a half hour while I waited for a banana whip. Owner's daughter is a nice but thinks its recycling to not wash out the blender after raw fish has been in it. (I thought this place was vegan, why was there raw fish in the blender?) She asked me if i wanted her to "rinse it out" - not wash it. I wonder if they even have a license to prepare food here. I didn't like the wrap I bought...I think it was called "the original". It should be call the tasteless lettuce and fish muck roll. The good: Staff is very friendly ... The banana whip (think thick banana smoothie) was good even though they use dates in everything which makes it taste too nutty Overall its a place I'll go to once in a blue moon just for the whip- if I happen to be at the thrift store next door. PEACE

This place is easy to miss if you don't know about it, but I'm glad through word-of-mouth I was lucky enough to discover this gem! Arnold's Way is a small cafe/shop dedicated exclusively to raw-vegan cuisine. The shop is involved in pot lucks and educational "cooking" classes. The owner reaches out to the community a lot through these local events and also has his own Youtube channel! As it is a privately run shop, it has limited hours, but I've found that it often remains open a bit past closing time. The staff is friendly, and it seems as if they get many regular customers. The food is very good, and it's thrilling to pick out a menu option as the raw-vegan preparation makes it a new type of food to experience (e.g., pizza). They also offer a range of smoothies and freshly pressed juices. The dining area is quite small (as is the shop in its entirety), and the decor is somewhat lacking, but in terms of food quality, it's above par. I will say that you should not expect this to be a quick dining experience. Although I have yet to order smoothies or juices for take-out, and cannot comment on this aspect, I have noticed quite a lag in the kitchen for food service when dining in. Of course, the staff is always quite apologetic when this happens, and it's something I tend to over look because the shop is small-staffed. As this is the only place I know of in the area that offers entirely raw-vegan options, it has no competitors in my book, and I plan to continue eating here.

You've got to love Arnold's. Quirky. Comforting. Always a character to watch, and delicious food. Try the cheese sandwich--yummmm! The smoothies are great, and the banana whips delish. Love it, and love all the free reading material. :) go Arnold!

My stomach wasn't feeling that great today (battling a change-of-seasons cold this week) so I had mi padre pick up something nutrient-rich yet light and refreshing. He came back with a protein smoothie made with hemp, dates, and bananas, which was creamy and tasted like a nutty banana smoothie, and a small gazpacho. The smoothie was definitely better than your average run-of-the-mill protein drink and energizing, which was much appreciated. The gazpacho soup was okay but I tasted a hint of seaweed, which was a bit odd to find in a typically raw, all-vegetable tomato soup, and some lemon (not the biggest fan of lemon but that's just me); it wasn't bad but just different, so I'm not sure if it is for everyone. It came with a slice of multigrain bread, which surprisingly has carrots in it! It had a nice, nutty flavor, although it was just very slightly dry. I think that it was less than $10 for everything, which is pretty good for a raw food meal. Much less than Jar Bar, anyway. I'll be back to try more of the menu (like the actual entrees and desserts) when I'm feeling like myself again but there is definitely potential here.

hard to find in a mall-type setting i thought it was just ok. more of a cafe than a store although there is some stock. kind of disorganized but not messy if that makes sense. there are better places.

i was there today and i have to say it was the best raw lunch/dinner i ever had:) Arnold is a little eccentric (read wacky but kind) My gorilla wrap was so damn good!! and i followed it down with a smoothie:) it was so yummy! I fell in love with olives today. i heart olives:D some of his items for sale did seem a bit overpriced but the made food was not: i got a wrap and small smoothie combo for $8 plus tax. i probably go back again tomorrow:) if you do go bring money for the meter..25 cents gets you three hours of parking in the back:)

If you want to support local, this is the raw diets heaven. Banana whips are the vegans ice cream. However, it's not a run in and run out to catch the train kind-of place - give yourself some time before hightailing it to the RR.

I am here all the freaking time. The whips smoothies and salads are delicious! You can eat anything guilt free. Arnold is nuts and knows everything about health. It's amazing how they make this raw food.

I'll preface this by saying I haven't actually bought anything here - none of my visits have inspired me to actually do so. I've wandered in a few times when I'm in the area, and it's an interesting place. A little messy, and not really the sort of place I'd want to sit and stay, but the wide variety of unusual foods is impressive, as is the menu of things made on the spot. There always seem to be some characters hanging around, including the staff, who are exuberant to say the least. Also, it smells like bananas. Actually, it makes the entire building smell like bananas.

Arnold (who owns and works everyday at Arnold's Way) is quite possibily a living angel. His ultimate goal in life is to spread education and knowledge to create an abundantly healthy, thriving people and a completely disease free world. He is hands down the most unconditionally loving, caring, supportive, and entirely unselfish person I know, or have ever met. As for the store and the cafe: An absolute paradise for raw foodists, or anyone who cares even the slightest about their health, or someone they loves health. A Very Large selection of health books where you can chill like borders/barnes n Noble (but sooooo much better) and read the books all day if you like. You may get hungry while you read, so there are tons of raw snacks all through the cafe, and a huge menu of everything from ORGANIC juices, smoothies, whips (like ice cream), entrees, and sides on the menu and everything is very fairly priced. There is a huge selection of FRESH ORGANIC WHOLESALE priced fruit and veggies everyday. They are delivered on Tues. and Fri., and the regulars at Arnolds always make sure to come by on delivery days and get the produce at its absolute freshest.....and it is FRESH, it comes from local organic farms mostly in Lancaster. The place is not only an cafe and education center, but also has a very large varietly of everything from EARTH shoes, to organic clothing and bags, superfoods, and lots of living food supplements and products, excalibur dehydrators, champion juicers, spaghetti machines (to turn squash and veggies into long pasta noodles), needak rebounders, and fun things like a variety of music, salt lamps, soy candles, organic cosmetic products, aromatherapy products, and soooooo much more. Arnold holds POTLUCKS on the 3rd Saturday of every month, and free saturday morning classes every week. They also have educational classes always in motion by a variety of chefs, nutritionists, doctors, authors, etc... Arnolds is an EXPERIENCE not to be missed.

Stopped by the other day for my first visit, after hearing rave reviews of the place. It is situated in a neat little corridor, and the front is littered with a plethora of natural living magazines, and informative flyers. Arnold hosts different classes, challenges, and other events dealing with the raw lifestyle, and inside, it is no different. A small seating/dining area to the left, is surrounded by a raw foods book shelf, fridge, and a blend of homemade raw delicacies. On the other side of the space is the cafe area, where a tall counter blocks what I think is several vitamixes and dehydrators. The food menu is not posted, but I did pick up a menu which looks intriguing. I was warmly greeted by his daughter ( I think,) perused around and ended at the counter, where the owner was standing. I asked for a smoothie, and was unenthusiastically served a banana-tasting smoothie (although bananas were not in the ingredient list.) I felt as if I were almost a bother to him; as he handed me the small cup and said, "Are you done?" I said yes, and asked where to pay and he walked over to the register and rung me up something like five dollars for some kale and celery juice. With closing, there was no "you're welcome," or have a good day. "I have heard the owner is quite eccentric, passionate, and kind, however this is not the person I encountered. Perhaps if I am ever in the area again, I will venture in a buy one of the delicious looking whips or creatively flavored packaged foods, but all in all I was let down.

I love all of the events this place has! The place has a very nice health community feel to it. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often! I love it just for the community like feel and friendliness! The food is cheaper than raw foods around my place, which I like too! The place was a little tricky to find. It was in between the two streets from the one the address says it is, and the street that has the train station that is directly behind that street. I went to a cooking class tonight and had a great time! I would recommend going to events, you get to meet people, learn recipes for new foods, and learn fun food facts!

Loved it. Very nice people working there. Very casual environment. Tried the zucchini pasta with marinara sauce. Very very good. Fresh tasting. Had the rainbow smoothie which was good too. My first ra foods experience. I will definitely be back!

After having this place in mind, I finally stopped in Arnold's Way and this place is cray. What I have to say upon visiting today... Clutter and disorganization is a focal point. First thing you will notice is the strange setup. You will find which store is actually the shop by the sound of blenders. The store is pushed towards the back of the entrance. You'll find the shop door close to the pile of magazines or containers full of tongs/gadgets. The entrance alone has signs for meetings and seminars all hand written. You have now found Arnold's Way. Upon entering you will see people working behind a counter. That is where you order. They can not see you for the most part so make you get their attention if you want a smoothie or what not. The other counter (that has vegan health bars, hanging monkies, Arnold's very own DVDs/ children's books) is where you pay. Arnold's might be there or walking around. If you see the man who's face is on the dvd, you met Arnold. Before he took my order he just barked at me. "What do you want?" It was my first time in the shop and the layout and items for sale confused me. I was not greeted friendly and the menu is high up on the wall for the smoothies. I was looking for a handout menu, but only found posters for seminars. My smoothie was okay. Nothing life changing. Arnold was talking to an employee about something and she mentioned, "...they are all dirty." If a little dirt never hurt...go for this place. You can see the man goes bananas for bananas by one of the cold cases being filled with them and being featured in the most of the smoothies. The items for sale are overpriced and a few seats have a tear in them. So I didn't want to stay. It's a weird atmosphere, but maybe I'm just not his crowd. On a positive note his daughter seems nice

Can't comment on food - been waiting 50 minutes now for a sandwich. Don't come at noon, that's for sure. OK, editing. I gave it 2 more tries. Hmmmm....I really like the ethic and goals here. Don't get things wrapped in nori - they fall apart. I need to try more of the daily specials, as the other things start to taste all the same. I'll be trying again and hopefully updating again. I really want to like this place.

Was such a fun experience and amazing food! If you are looking for a fine dining place to sit down In and get waited on hand and foot than this is not the place for you. But I 100% recommend if you are in the area or near by to give it a try. The food is all raw vegan and there's something on the menu for everyone to be interested in trying it out. Such a neat environment almost life changing. Nice little gem! P.S. Its near the arcade can be a little difficult to find.

Was really looking forward to eating here. It's extremely unclean.. Dirty menus and floors, broken chairs..the whole place had a really disgusting & filthy feel to it. There's bizarre clutter everywhere, like children's trampolines and fax machines. They were missing multiple ingredients for the dishes we wanted and "haven't had wheatgrass for a while", even though it's on their menu, as clear as day. The staff was nice, food was mediocre, and my boyfriend had a bug on his plate.

Now how could I not give 5 stars to place that owns my banana whip deflowerment? How could I not love a place that reminds me of home... of Santa Cruz, CA and Eugene, OR (husband's home)? How could I not love all the shiny yellow bananas perked up on the shelves? And the homemade breads (look like crackers) and kale chips? It's hippie heaven in PA Dutchland Uber Alles. Try all the banana whips - but my favorite is the tutti fruiti. Try the green smoothie. Drink one every day and you will glow with radiance. Bring your friends. They will think you are incredible for unveiling this place. They will secretly inform you, they too hate fast food and want to be like Arnold and eat banana whips every day. Meet Arnold - a YouTube sensation. Buy his book. Go to his raw food event. You will love yourself!

This place is such a palace of healthy living and vegan lifestyle that is almost a caricature of itself. Manned by a super friendly father-daughter team, this is the stuff of adorable romantic comedies. Arnold eats the way he lives, practices what he preaches, and could probably kick my ass. The banana whips are great. The green smoothie is fantastic. The classic nori roll is OK.

I loooove Arnold's! every time I visit, I feel like entering a sacred place, full of good vibes and I also get to always buy another of Arnold's books or health essays, he has so many! The food is superb & everyone there just irradiate that healthy glow & love for what they do!

I wish I could eat all the food here everyday! There are tons of vegan and raw options and everything we tried was so good and fresh and light. I am not vegetarian but I could definitely become one if this was my diet. The toona wrap was really really good, as well as the fettuccini which was just sliced zucchini with awesome garlic sauce. BUT the most amazing this ever, was the 'caramel' banana whip. Tasted just like dairy queen blendini, but better! The place is pretty small, you order at the counter and then the food is brought out in a little living room with some tables chairs and a couch, where you can also buy health food products and get some books. They also have cooking workshops! I hope one of these comes to Philly as well!

  • Zachary S.

Simply put: food was freaking fantastic. Got the toona sandwich and a banana whip, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. Couldn't have found a better spot for a healthy vegetarian lunch. Staff was really nice, and happy to give me the low down on the seminars and community events Arnold's holds. (Arnold wasn't there so I didn't get a chance to see how preachy he was of my own accord.) As for all these snoots giving Arnold's low stars for the way the restaurant looks, they are just that being snooty. Arnold's is not the type of place to go for a fancy atmosphere. If you are worried about a nicked plate, then pull the pickle out of you ass and eat that. Arnold's is about good food, and frankly that's all they need to be about because they have hit that nail on the head.

Let me just start off by saying that I love Arnold's Way. I really do. This is just my honest review of this place, good and bad. The food is great. Staff is awesome. The regulars that come in are also great, raw foodies who you can just chat about health with for a long time. I haven't had one bad dish from this place. I live for my banana whip, too. This place is really really uninviting though, to say the least. I still go to get my delicious raw vegan goodies, and support the movement, but lets just say i'm not usually sprinting out the door to come and hang out there. My motivation is the food, alone. The tables are nasty. The place is dirty, or at least dirty-seeming. Plain and simple. The plates are chipped, there is dried/stuck on food everywhere. I've been to some places similar to Arnold's Way, but none this skeevey. I find this important because I think it further dissatracts people from the raw food lifestyle. The set up is strange, how to order your food. The chef's (who are awesome btw) can't really see you if you walk in, since there is a wall seperating the kitchen and main area. You have to kind of interrupt them with whatever they're doing to give them your order. Arnold knows what he's talking about. Some may disagree with his philosophy, but the proof is in the pudding. That is beside the point. He preaches a little too much. I have been a raw foodist for about 11 months now. I am pretty established with my lifestyle, and research a crap ton about it. He preaches to me, even though I've heard of the majority of the stuff he's said already. He will interrupt you mid-conversation to talk to you about something you've heard him mention a thousand times. In order to show people true health, I dont think his approach is affective. The weight loss aspect of it is very appealing, but I feel it only sticks with a small percentage of people. I think to make people excited about raw foods and show them that they have a place to retreat and get awesome food, the inside needs some serious TLC. It is pretty uninviting, and thats coming from somone who is not even close to picky. I hope this review helps whoever is reading it and I only say these things as constructive criticism to maybe improve the place and get more people to go raw!

Raw food is great for you and this place is a great place to grab a healthy lunch or some dehydrated flat bread. Love the Tuno (not tuna) and the zucchini spaghetti. All the food is tasty and very fresh. The raw "pizza" is delish. You will be inspired to eat healthy at home and cure your ills by feeding your body and letting it heal itself. Definitely worth going to and experiencing.

After reading the reviews on here and the descriptions of Arnold, we soooo hoped we would get to meet him when we visited this longtime staple for healthy eaters. Arnold's Way was originally a health food grocery and has morphed into a showcase for raw vegan food. They have four dehydrators going all the time and plenty of dried (and other) things to purchase. We glanced longingly more than once at the $400 Vitamix on the shelf after sampling (his daughter) Maya's creations. As soon as we stepped through the door, friendly sweet Maya rushed over and gave us a chocolate banana whip sample. People were gathered inside chatting, which gave it a neighborly appeal. We had a hard time deciding -- raw food is always a surprise, because it never looks like what you are expecting, and the taste is always way better than you imagine from the simple description. That was so true here. I had a raw borscht: thick, pink, and creamy, some of the best I have ever had (though Wendy at the Honey Underground did a great job with it at her Slavic meal recently). My partner had the open-faced burger, which looked like a work of art on the savory flat dehydrated bread, more like a rich cracker. I had the Toona sandwich, equally artistic with pickles decorating it. I could not leave without having a banana cream pie whip, and it really did taste just like banana cream pie, whipped up with raw cashews. But oh my god was I stuffed. Even the small portions of soup are huge. Maya also brought out a sample of cheese made from buckwheat, I think. How I would love to follow her around for an afternoon learning her tricks. Don't be afraid to give raw food a try. It is amazing what can be done with a few extra kitchen tools such as a spiralizer (which is a cheap raw tool and a neat gimmick to make "noodles" out of soft neutral veggies such as zucchini). Arnold loves to talk and give advice, and it comes out of him at a rapid-fire pace; listen closely to catch everything. :-) He is slim and trim in his 60s and buzzes around the store, tending the many who come in to see him. You can watch his homemade videos on YouTube for more entertainment and advice. He holds cheap classes in his store constantly, and it seems like you usually get a meal with them. The giant stuffed tiger on the couch appears to be the mascot and can be seen in some of the videos. :-)
