5 star food and service 5 star patio outdoor seating area 0 star bathroom, no diaper changing station. For a place that is otherwise so family and toddler friendly this seems to be an oversight, and makes for some very distressing moments

One of my favorite places to get breakfast after I go to the market! Great service and very inviting atmosphere! Love that they have gluten free bread!!

The locals tell me On Orange is the best breakfast place in the city. After living there a short time, I have to agree. This home-converted-to-restaurant, offers cozy seating. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Judging by the line, I thought we would be waiting for an hour. But apparently there may be additional seating downstairs. The food was delicious, service was prompt. The atmosphere is cozy but not too scrunched. If you're in the city or visiting market, definitely stop by for breakfast.

Delicious, cozy and eclectic with a great menu.! Small breakfast spot in the heart of downtown Lancaster. Get there early, or be prepared to wait, (totally worth the wait)! I had Dad's Breakfast which was scrambled eggs with the most delicious cheddar cheese and ham. Fantastic seasoning! The whole grain toast was magnificent, as well as the potatoes and roasted tomatoes. Husband had a Florentine Omelet minus the spinach. Much enjoyed! Service was mostly friendly and efficient.

What an adorable little spot for breakfast! Headed here after a night out (a little late I may add) around 10/1030. Wasn't surprised to see people waiting on the sidewalk for their name called. We went in and put our name in. The wait was only about 20 minutes and I believe it only took 15. I had no idea how adorable the inside was until our name was called. Each room is kind of a different vibe. Cheery in the front, downstairs much cozier (would be better in the winter I think), and then they brought us out to the patio. We really hit the jackpot! The outside patio is SO cute, it was the perfect spot. The menu is small but unique. They have some all-day features (I think they're just open breakfast/lunch). You can do simple breakfasts or they have a few heartier things. I chose the special omelet of the day which was "Mediterranean" - 3 eggs, Kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, and goat cheese. Simply delicious! We got a side of bacon which was crispy and delicious. Service was wonderful, food came out quick, and when you get your check your get homemade chocolate chip cookies! What's not to love! Definitely could tell this was a very popular Lancaster breakfast destination and I can see why!

Seating two at tables of four? There was a large number of people waiting - why not have people share? We're all friends here. I had to deduct a star for that alone. Great feel, nice atmosphere in a "trendy/hip setting". The food was good, not great. They were very vegan friendly and accommodating when we stated so. Customer service was good once we were seated. I don't see all the rage of this place, but it was nice. I'd return again if it wasn't so packed.

Overall I liked the place and would definitely go back. Pro: food was great! I had the Indian omelette, which was a large portion but good with a kick of spice. My husband had the pancakes, which was absolutely fabulous! The apples were amazing- wish it was drizzled all over the pancakes instead of being served in a small cup. Con: the portion of the dishes were large but the drinks were served in a small cup, the apples for my husband's pancakes was also served in a small cup. The place it's self is very small and we had a bit of a wait time. I would go back because the food overall was great!

At the suggestion of a friend, I was told to check this place out for breakfast. The wait for two wasn't terribly long (10 mins) on a Sunday for brunch. They don't have a liquor license so no mimosas for me; bummer. The menu doesn't boost a large selection, but there are thoughtful details and some real healthy choices. Fortunately, we were sat by an open window, but I might imagine the place getting uncomfortably warm in the dead of summer.

Great breakfast joint that embraces buying local and wholesome ingredients. Food was delicious. Very good coffee. Service was fantastic. If we weren't from out of town, we'd be regulars here.

Best breakfast joint in Lancaster, hands down. I stopped here on my way home from a recent trip, and after a long night of bar-hopping, I was craving a solid diner breakfast. Best part about this place? You can have your diner breakfast, at a diner price. But the food is far from diner quality. Coffee? Amazing. I had 3 cups. And the servers were not skimpy with their refills. Omelet? Perfection. I ordered the Peasant Omelet, stuffed with cheddar, potatoes, roasted tomatoes. It really hit the spot. The 9-grain toast was think-cut and fresh. Loaded with apple butter and peanut butter? Yes please. Pancakes? Not just any pancakes, these were made with oats and had a distinct texture and taste. I am officially a HUGE fan. The stewed apples they came with added a nice sweetness. I ate the leftovers cold for dinner that night and was just as in love with them. Cream Chipped Beef? Umm, how can that be bad when you are hung-over? This wasn't the reason I loved this dish so much though. It was smoky and thick and everything you could want for breakfast. And, it was served over breakfast potatoes. Doesn't get any better than that. Service was amazing and the atmosphere was eclectic and fun. I am excited to make this a breakfast staple in my travels to Lancaster!

Really really wanted to go full cinco estrellas on this down town jem but can't because I can't go there when I want to! Closed Tues-Thur and forget about getting a table on the weekend mid morning without a 45-60 min wait on a heavily traveled one way street! Basically get there early and you will enjoy some of the best contemporary and local traditional breakfast dishes in town! Excellent service and staff too!

I totally love this little place! well, it is probably not that little had i visited the basement. the staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is calming, and the food is exceptional. my friend and i both ordered the western omelet + ham with the sides of potatoes and roasted tomatoes. everything came out perfect! i only wished they have more options on beverages (more tea/coffee options since it it is a breakfast place after all) but heck, the food and atmosphere outweighs everything.

The reviews are what led us to this adorable and very busy little brunch spot in downtown Lancaster. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up. I wish it had. The service and the atmosphere were right on. It was the food that was just okay. We both got omelets. I had a special of the day lentil, arugula and goat cheese and my husband had the peasant. Mine was dry and just didn't have much flavor. His was at least cooked better, but still, just very average. The special side of pork sausage was pretty good... Bummer...cause it's a cute place. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing.

I lived in Lancaster for 3 months last year and never seemed to have heard of this place til now! Such a shame as I would have made it my regular. It's a small cafe feel with a bar that you can eat at if you don't want to wait for a table. Big windows facing the street gives it great lighting and an open feel. The wait is reasonable (about 15-20min) particularly for when I went which was a Sunday mid morning. The staff was friendly and attentive. The coffee was good (there were personalized mugs for those who come frequently), and the food was amazing. I had the grilled cheese which was one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had since it was on such a delicious bread! With the check, you also get to try out some cookies from the central market complimentary! I might have to go buy some when I visit again. Definitely would return!

Fresh and light even though we ate a lot I really like this place. The coffee was good The pancakes were excellent And the seven grain bread was good Special touch this place does is give you two oatmeal cookies at the end of your meal with the check

Great little cafe for breakfast! Not far from the Marriott hotel in downtown Lancaster. Kind of a hipster vibe. No reservations so weekends can be slammed. Very informal and a pretty small dining area so be prepared to chill for a bit. For this area I was very pleasantly surprised. Great food, great prices and very friendly service. (Not pressed for time wait staff - but very friendly) I was in the area looking at colleges for one kid and doing the Amish country routine. I had pancakes that were buttermilk with rolled oats. I was hesitant but they were quite good. I take my pancakes seriously. Bacon and eggs were also good. My kids had waffles and they love those. The menu is not huge but it's comprehensive. They also have vegan stuff ( I noticed) but I am very much a bacon and eggs guy.

Wow! What a neat breakfast spot! Everyone was super nice, and the food was awesome! We both got omelets and loved them! They offer potatoes or tomatoes for your side... Get half and half and eat a tomato and potato in each bite!

Small little breakfast place with eclectic menu. I had the Swedish styled pancakes with a curry chutney omelet. Super good. Coffee was so so which is why o didn't give it 5 stars.

This is a really nice place. Very thoughtful staff. Excellent food. They clearly care about what they serve. Chilaquiles were as good as I have ever had. Swedish pancake was excellent and the lemony apples that came with them were heavenly. Great value for the money too.

This is just one more example of why I love Yelp: you're a stranger in a strange land and have a hungry tribe and no clue where to go. You open your Yelp app and it's got the recommendations and you use the GPS/map to walk there. Oh - and the reviews are on point and it's a great place. From the outside it's small and unassuming. You go in and there's both a basement and outside so it can hold more than you'd think. We venture outside to eat and loved everything about the place. (They need to expand with outposts in NYC and Montclair - two places that would appreciate it.) Good food... good coffee... friendly staff. It was the only place the rest of my family demanded we hit a second time while in Lancaster. And I learned something new - lagniappe! (I saw it on the menu but was too embarrassed to ask what it was so I quickly Googled it before it arrived. Yum!)

The food just wasn't that good. Nice atmosphere and staff is what I keep seeing in the reviews but the food wasn't great. Omelet was ok, home fries were more potato chunks. The "roasted tomatos" tasted like they come out of the microwave. The Swedish pancakes just didn't have much flavor. The toast was the best thing really I ordered extra.

I had over easy eggs over avocados and chorizo. Interesting combination--worth a try!

We went here for breakfast the morning after a trip to Hershey park not knowing what to expect. Opt to sit in the basement or outside: the ambiance is something you'd get in SOHO or Park Slope. The Swedish pancakes or mind-blowingly delicious and the coffee is good. Everyone working there was super nice and more than happy to deal with my 3- and 5-year-old devil children. Couldn't have had a better experience or breakfast.

A really nice little place. I ambled in on a Saturday morning, so there were about 2 or 3 parties waiting for tables to open up. Luckily for me there was a spot open on the counter. The servers were just perfect. They were friendly and warm, but gave you some space to drink your first cup of coffee and gather your wits about you. I had an onion and sausage omelet with cheddar cheese. Tasty but not the shining star of the meal. The roasted tomatoes served on the side were SO delicious that I think I should have skipped the home fries and doubled up on them. The toasted 9 grain bread was homemade and substantial, with butter and honey it was a major home run. What a great start to the day.

Has breakfast here today. Neat little century old home (or older!). We ate old back on the patio. They use oats for their pancakes. They were huge, tasty and filling! Also had some fresh eggs (make a difference) and vegan sausage. A nice spot in Lancaster for breakfast.

Went for brunch with a party of 6, including meat eaters, a dairy allergy, and a vegan. Not an easy crowd to please. We were greeted immediately with a friendly welcome, and seated downstairs. Decor is cottage cozy, and the staff is all very knowledgable about the food and attentive. We noticed right away that there were lots of options, and they even had vegan pancakes, waffles, sausage and a few other choices. The vegan waffles were hearty thanks to oats in the batter and tasted excellent, as did the sides. The omnivores all gave good reviews of their omelettes as well. If you are looking for a good breakfast or brunch spot in the Lancaster area, I would absolutely suggest this restaurant. Although we didn't have any children in our party, there were lots of families with kids all of whom seemed very happy.

Love this place I rate it a 4.5 stars. Staff and service are wonderful and the food is always fresh and consistently delicious. Their Swedish pancakes are great and not your typical pancakes. Baked oatmeal is one of my favorites.

Nice little cafe in the heart of Lancaster with the feel of the past, old wooden chairs and tables. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was good, egg with Canadian bacon and cheese on a soft roll. The coffee was one of the best cups I ever had, extremely flavorful without being too strong.

I bookmarked this place a while back because I've been wanting to try it. After continuous gentle nagging, my SO and I came here today for brunch. The main floor is clean and quaint, with beautiful natural lighting coming in through the windows. There is also seating downstairs, where we ended up sitting. But to be honest, I would have preferred the main floor area--better lighting and cleaner looking. We both got coffee and an omelet--he got the florentine and I got the Indian omelet with a mix of potatoes and tomatoes on the side and 7-grain bread. The omelets were generously sized and good. I was warned that the Indian omelet was spicy. Pfffft It wasn't spicy at all! It was salty more than anything. But then again...I have been told that I am basically immune to spiciness. I can drink hot sauce like juice. So...maybe I'm not the best person to gage spiciness for the general public. Anyway! I am a bread lover and this 7-grain bread was delish. I loved it. I also loved the service. Fast and good with refilling drinks and checking up on customers. In particular, the woman who checked up on us made our experience quite pleasant. But do you know what the best part is? They bring you cookies with the check! COOKIES! They gave us 2 oatmeal raisin cookies from Wendy Jo's and they were good. It's the most pleasant way to receive your bill. Come and try this place out and get your free cookie!

This is a place to come in the summer - in the winter, without a breezeway, the place is very, very cold inside due to a constant draft. It's got a cute atmosphere - rustic, quaint - very 'Lancaster'. The food was OK. They charge $3 for a can of Coke which felt ridiculous. My omelette was good (peasant), but not better than the diners around town that outshine it. The roasted potatoes were under seasoned and burnt badly on one side, the tomatoes were fine, but again, not seasoned (or vastly under seasoned). My husband had the Chilaquiles which he really disliked - the tortilla that is ripped up becomes soggy in the chile/sausage sauce (which is like a chili consistency) and with the runny egg on top, it is almost like a very strange soup. The bread was the best part of the meal - both the grain and white were delicious. My other complaint was our table was tiny and squished in the middle. We had no room and I felt very much in the way. I get it for a small house, but when you come, it's good to note this is a small place and would not be good for large groups.

Decent brunch food. Interesting atmosphere, good prices, excellent service. Multi-level restaurant much larger service area than initially appears. Had to wait for Sunday lunch, probably because it had received good ratings. Wasn't impressed enough to return for another meal.

Yum!! What an awesome little spot in downtown Lancaster. The waffles are uniquely outstanding - especially with the Carmine and David's ice cream. My wife, the omelette connoisseur actually said the omelette special with pulled pork was the best she has ever had. Service was informative and attentive. Would absolutely return the next time we are in town.

I really liked this place. It was small and seemed like a downtown place. We sat downstairs which was better since the upstairs seemed a bit loud. I had the peasant omelet and it was really good but filling. I couldn't finish the omelet. Surprisingly, the 7 grain toast was really good. I usually don't like the toast; it seems like a throw away but this was thick and had a lot of flavor. Prices were pretty good as well.

Favorite place for Sunday brunch. We come every week. An excellent, eclectic all-day menu and a great selection of reasonably priced omelets. Service is also great. If we arrive after 10am, there's sometimes a wait of 20 or so minutes, but it's always well worth it.

Anytime I drive from DC, this is the go-to breakfast spot. The only reason I go anywhere else is because of a long wait. Believe me though, it's worth it: exceptional, friendly service and some great food not found elsewhere in Lancaster. The Chilaquiles dish is the perfect spicy cure for a hangover. But the waffles are the real deal. Crunchy, gooey, oaty...the magic they put in that waffle is simply sorcery. It's trendy, it's delicious. Go here.

My wife and I came to On Orange for breakfast recently. The place is small, but comfortable. Let me start by saying that service is top notch. We were seated promptly and our tea/coffee order was taken as we were handed the menus. That is not too rushed for us. Also, I noticed that the chef/cook delivered the food once done if the wait staff was not at the ready. No cold plates here. My wife ordered the two Swedish pancakes and I ordered the Chilaquiles. Both were promptly served and were hot. The pancakes were very large and the oats added a nice texture to the pancake. Although the syrup was real syrup, the quality was so-so. And the bacon was OK, nothing special. I don't know if the option was available, but adding chocolate chips to the pancake batter would have made it over the top. I wasn't sure what to expect with the Chilaquiles, but it has chorizo sausage so I ordered it. I would characterize it almost as a thick soup with two eggs sitting on top, but it was very good. Just the right amount of spice and quite filling. Our bill came quickly and the two cookies that came with it was a nice touch. To make On Orange a 5-star, I recommend they offer chocolate chips for the pancakes, upgrade the syrup and add applewood smoked bacon. I suspect if they do, we'll all have trouble getting into the place.

Boyfriend & I visited over the weekend. I ordered the grilled cheese & my boyfriend had the chilaquiles. The meals came quickly & both of us enjoyed our meals. The grilled cheese itself wasn't knock your socks off great, but in combo with the greens it come with it is truly yummy. The Chilaquiles were pretty darn good as well. Would go again, but not before trying a bunch of other breakfast spots.

great little breakfast joint in downtown lancaster. came here saturday to meet friends and we had a great meal together. daughter had swedish pancakes with warm apples and the bit i tried was awesome. i had coffee and the peasant omelette which had tomoatoes, potatoes, cheese, and onions. very good and huge. you can have your choice of hashbrowns or tomatoes. tomatoes as a side, you ask? yes, you should get them. they were very simple roasted tomatoes but had a great flavor and were a nice, light side. service was very friendly, they kept the coffee refills a-comin and food was delicious. they also serve little cookies at the end of the meal - what's not to love about that? we sat upstairs but the restroom is located on the basement/ground floor so i went down there. next time i want to sit down there! so cute...exposed brick/stone and there's a fireplace down there. so neat.

Excellent food, I just had to knock a star because it's a breakfast / brunch place that charges 9.95 for a sandwich and a side salad or an omelette. This ain't no "Daily Grill" smoked salmon on a cream cheese bagel. I appreciate their work as much as I do the next gourmet restaurant, but a three egg omelette with a side of potatoes cost you about $1-2 in food costs and 5 minutes of your time to cook, how how does it become almost ten dollars? I ordered the mufaletta which was delicious by all means, but once again, 9.95 for a cold cut sandwich with a small side salad. The olive salad spread compelled me to order it and it was hella delicious, and reminded me of a good olive tapanade. The bread itself was excellent, tasty, and chewy, but did it warrant the price tag? Not really. It could have easily been 7 dollars (maybe even 8) and garnered less complaining. And seriously, $9.95 for a grilled cheese? Even though the cheddar is older than I am currently, it's a grilled cheese. It's what broke and children people eat. It makes as much sense as serving a hot dog covered in truffle slices (yeah I'm looking at you, Serendipity!) By all means the service was excellent, there was nothing to complain about the food itself (all good!), the surprise cookie was wonderful, and the decor was cute as hell, but no one should be paying almost 30 dollars after coffee, taxes, and tip for a modest, booze-less brunch for two in Lancaster, PA.

Would not change a thing about this place or our meal. Swedish pancakes have ruined me for all others. They are somehow hearty and light at the same time. Flavorful and soak up the squeeze bottle of real maple syrup perfectly. I would have loved more more more of the stewed apples. The indian omelet. Need I say more? it is simple and deliciously spiced. Magically, they make simple roasted grape tomatoes taste like a slice of focaccia bread. A hint of garlic and a waft of rosemary hidden in each bite. Perfectly cooked potatoes. (and yes- i got both because our masterful server offered half and half). kids scrambled eggs were kids scrambled eggs. not much more to say there. Chipped beef over potatoes. We got this as standard tourist food. When in Lancaster, eat the chipped beef so we did. With a splash of their fiery green hot sauce, these were a travelers good friend. Filling and comforting. The coffee, which never seemed to be empty (same goes for water), was the highlight of our morning. So much so that we left On Orange and headed straight to the Lancaster Central Market to pick up some at Lancaster County Coffee Roasters. mmm The server we had was like a small and fast magician. She was juggling a full house of folks on a busy saturday morning and managed to make us all feel important and well cared for. it was as if she was having us over her home and was letting us in on her little secret food world. The bill came to us nestled in among 4 fresh, oatmeal raisin cookies. We were full to the brim but taking a sip of magical coffee helped coax that treasure down into my gullet too. a magical meal. cant wait to go back.

Always an outstanding experience. Food is well prepared, coffee is delicious, Swedish pancakes never get old. We have taken several friends with us and the have been pleasently surprised. A real gem in Lancaster for when you get tired of baked oatmeal at Prince Street.

Cute & cozy!! Outdoor seating is a plus! The breakfast options are fresh and tasty!! The toast is so good as are the grilled tomatoes & potatoes. I had a spinach, feta, & sausage omelette-top 5 omelettes I've ever had.

Probably the nicest owner and wait staff I have encountered. Service couldn't have been better. Our breakfast; pancakes, waffles and baked oatmeal were special and delicious. You really should try the baked oatmeal, it's incredible! The owner was so generous she even let us take a picture of the recipe. Go to On Orange, support owners of businesses that truly serve the customer.

Yep, totally worth the high ratings. Everything a breakfast/brunch should be. Good portions, awesome service, nice decor, and delicious food. But because of this - there might be a wait for a table. Typical trade-off for a solid brunch place. The Indian omelette... My god.

So worth the 20-minute wait on a Sunday morning. The staff at the Hotel Lancaster recommended On Orange and we're glad they did. The quaint layout of the place reminded us of row-homes-turned-eateries back home in Philly. The menu had a decent amount of items, reasonably priced. Hubby and I got the classic breakfast sandwich with fluffy eggs, ham and a well-made bun! Our son got the Swedish pancakes sans apples. A great meal and those delish cookies you get with your bill are a tasty added touch.

When I go home to visit my parents in Lititz. First place I wanna go? ON ORANGE !! I have been coming here for ages . . . It used to be called "wish you were here" until it changed owners a couple years ago. (confession: I still call it wish you were here). They have awesome Swedish pancakes, made with oatmeal. They are so delicious, I can eat three big ones !! They ordered the VEGAN swedes last time and they were just as delicious as the originals (took longer to make for some reason though?). My mom always orders the western omelette and it looks fresh and yummy. They serve the egg dishes with a side of roasted seasoned potatoes or your choice of bread and jam. AWESOME. The swedes come with a side of homemade apples sauce or pears ... really good. I always order tea here, but my mom brings her own coffee because she says that it is a bit weak. (she's used to espresso) I've noticed some of other comments saying it is not as good as before when it was WYWH. Maybe so, maybe not. To be honest, the vibe is a pretty similar . .. college artsy and to me the swedes taste the same ; -) ... (same recipe btw) . So I'm happy. You can't leave lititz without trying Down to .... OPPs I mean ON ORANGE BTW - You must try the vegan peanut butter cupcakes . . . delicious !

I'll start with the good, staff was very nice and on a Sunday morning there was almost no wait. They also have pretty good coffee. Now for the bad, once we sat down our experience went downhill quite fast. The menu is small and I don't think I would get the eggs again as they were a very odd color and had a weird taste. Also my Canadian bacon which I normally like was rubbery and tough. Now for the worst part the price, $11 for an omlette is a joke. They also charged $4 for a side of Canadian bacon which was awful. Staff was nice but unless you're a vegan or have dietary needs this place is a no go.

Love this place. Food is always fresh and many times made from local ingredients. Small and quirky but service is good and the owner is wonderful and personable. Spent the extra money to get my own personal mug and is so worth it. Special omelets are good but the basic is just as good. Not a huge menu but what they do they do great.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I was looking for an authentic friendly home-style Amish breakfast and what we found was a trendy and homey family restaurant. It was as if I had gone back in time to old city Lancaster and walked into a hip coffee bar. The cooks had gauges in their ears and the lady serving us had on a pair of overalls. The food, wow... the food. IN.CRED.I.BLE!!! Everyone one of the staff was so friendly and would stop to chat and ensure you were enjoying your meal. If you are in Lancaster this is a MUST STOP restaurant. By the way, I had the Cream Chipped Beef (see photo #13) It was HUGE!! And so deliciously creamy! My fiance had the egg sandwich- and the BREAD IS AMAZING! You MUST eat the bread!! While it is brought in from a place around philly it is the sweetest and lightest dough- it's almost like a pastry. AMAZING!

Food is consistent and exceptional. Everything I've ever had is good. The Indian omlette has curry in the eggs with sharp cheddar onions and spicy Indian Chiles. The grilled cheese has 24 year aged cheddar and is the best I've ever had. The Swedish pancakes are the best you'll have. They're always busy so I suggest an early breakfast or take out. You won't be disappointed

One of the few places in Lancaster that's open on Sunday. Sunday brunch is a little too health-ful but cool if you like oatmeal and other grains. Downstairs is crowded and dark, outside is okay in late spring and summer. Joint is crowded since it's almost the only gig in town.

Pancakes wow !!! You have to try at least one before you leave. Their Indian omelette burned my tongue and I like spicy but it was man vs food type of spice. Just FYI ask for min spice so that way you can enjoy the flavors without over powering it with spice. Geez drank like 3 glasses of water, I couldn't even taste eggs lol

Can't go wrong with this place. I had the most delicious Fig Arugula and Gorgonzola omelet with tomatoes and home fries. It came with thick cut homade 7 grain toast and was fabulous! We also tried the baked oatmeal with walnuts and cranberries, which was outstanding. On Orange is an absolute must try and you will be hooked. Excellent food and excellent service.

We stopped here on the way back from Philly when my son wanted breakfast for lunch. We both got the Swedish pancakes and they were outstanding. You can order 1, 2 or 3 and while 2 were good size and filling, I wish I had gotten 3. Service was good and quick. Great place.

On Orange is my favorite spot for breakfast in Lancaster City. Very cozy, friendly staff, and quality ingredients. To the top it off you get a tasty Wendy Jo's homemade cookie with your check.

I love this place. It's a cute and cozy little place with really great service. The food is just different enough that you don't feel bad about paying for breakfast. I typically switch between two of my favorites; the Indian omelette or the peasant omelette (my favorite). Breakfast options come with a choice of roasted potatoes or tomatoes or a mix of both. The bread is whole grain, thick and delicious. The coffee is solid and they don't let your cup go empty. Prices are really reasonable for quality and portion size. The check always comes with complimentary fresh baked cookies--who can complain about that?! Also, in the summertime there is an outdoor patio seating area that I didn't even know existed for the longest time. It's a pleasant little space.

The food is....good........average. Nothing to write home about. The services is.....a tad slow and disinterested. The prices for what you get is.......... a bit over priced. Would I eat there again....Yes. Not my first choice though.

The waitress was super nice, the atmosphere was great and for a dollar extra you can have your pancakes made vegan! They also sell vegan sausage. That is awesome. This is THE breakfast place to be in Lancaster as a vegan, or in most places in a sizable proximity, as finding quality vegan food seems to be pretty difficult outside of Philly.

I must say I was so incredibly pleased with On Orange. The servers worked in a tag team with us and we were never left hanging, but didn't feel nagged either. The swedish pancakes were awesome. I would go again just for them! Very pleasant meal. Only dinged a star because of the building and bathroom. The walls downstairs had some pretty big nasty holes in them and the bathrooms are so tiny. Do not go here if you are claustrophobic. No joke!

Super solid breakfast joint. Every time I come here I leave with the desire to try to make whatever delicious thing I just ate at home. From the baked oatmeal to the stewed tomatoes, everything I've eaten here has been fresh, satisfying, and delightful. FYI two waffles is more than you can eat, but two pancakes is about the right amount.

Get the Chilaquiles if you like spice...you won't be disappointed! The peasant omelet was perfectly cooked and the delicous coffee was as good as it gets. My girlfriend tried the Swedish pancake and loved it, but was disappointed that it didn't come with traditional lignonberries. If the weather is nice, don't pass up on dining outside on the downstairs patio!

Had some great Swedish pancakes here yesterday as part of a Friday getaway to Lancaster Co. Excellent breakfast; pancakes were yummy & filling. My friend had the vegan pancakes which he loved as well. Good service; nice relaxing atmosphere.. Definitely will stop here for brekkie next time I'm Lanacster. A great way to start the day and enough fuel to get us thru shopping @ Centarl Mkt. & Green Dragon! Suggestion; add fresh squeezed juices to menu!

This place is awesome! I got eggs, toast, and the roasted tomatoes. As someone who's always trying to eat well, I was really interested to see the tomatoes as a breakfast side - they really rounded out the meal and were delicious! Eggs were cooked just how I like them and the bread was phenomenal. Best coffee I've ever had at brunch... seriously. Even better than my favorite diner in my home town. You can tell they really put a lot of thought into every little detail. Prices were very reasonable for the high quality food we were given. Boyfriend got the special omelette of the day and really loved it (fig, Gorgonzola). The decor itself was very warm and inviting - it felt like we were eating brunch in someone's home that happened to have a bunch of tables and a breakfast bar. Service was excellent. Definitely found our new brunch place!

My wife and I visit Lancaster every year to see different Christmas Shows and enjoy the local cuisine. We found this restaurant on Google thru Yelp. To our pleasant surprise, the restaurant is cozy and the staff is very friendly. The menu is not complicated, simply, delicious tasty foods with quality ingredients and awesome taste. We were so happy after our first visit that we went a second time the next day right before heading home (which included getting stuck in the snow on I-81). Pancakes are delicious and the maple syrup is king!!! The coffee is good and not acid, they use real eggs, bacon is not greasy... In other words homemade quality ingredients for fresh tasty meals. By the way, the also give you two delicious cookies from a local vendor with you check. Nice and tasty detail. We hope to be back next year again!

While in Lancaster for a political convention I walked to On Orange from the Mariot Hotel located in the center of town, after passing up another breakfast spot that didn't have exactly what my party was looking for. When first walking in I noticed the servers looked like they were hired from hipster central casting, jeggings, cut off jean shorts, ironic 90's Tshirts, Vintage dresses, and the like. We had the option of sitting on the ground floor next to the window, in the lower level basement type area, or outside in a patio- located off the basement. We took the table by the window. After getting our drinks, I ordered that day's special, an omelette with salsa and guacamole. The dish also came with toast and roasted tomatoes and potatoes. I was extremely happy with my order. The servers were always quick to pore more coffee and water, which is always a plus in my book. Very enjoyable breakfast! If I'm very in Lancaster again for an over night trip I will absolutely go back for breakfast or brunch.

    1) Food. Really good menu, had the vegan waffles which were excellent. 2) Atmosphere. Overall nice, but downstairs in the dungeon like basement with the candles in the fireplace are a nice touch. 3) Service. The food came out fast even with it being very very busy 4) The negative. I personally hate eating at a place that only seems to be filled with affluent white people, and as a white person, it makes me feel my class and privilege at all times. Please diversify. The price is cheap enough for any walk of life to enjoy the food here.

Great vegan food on the menu. Vegan swedish buckwheat pancakes, Earth Balance butter, and vegan sausage, and real maple syrup. It's rare to find restaurants serving real maple syrup. Two of us split 3 pancakes, and 1 order of sausage. We were stuffed, and I'm a big eater. Service was great. The waitress even brought us vegan chocolate covered coffee beans when the meal was finished. Normally you get a cookie, but the cookies are not vegan. So nice of our waitress to look out for us. We'll be back, soon.

Very cute place. It's a nice addition to the area. Their menu is fun and they try to capture favorites from different places. We tried the muffaletta, which has its origins in New Orleans. It was good and tasty, but nothing beats the real thing. Chilequiles had great flavor and decent heat. The sauce should be more of a paste than a soup and the chips were too soggy. They should be saturated but still crunchy. Try a thicker chip. We're from San Diego so we know. :) Great coffee, but individual creamers missed the mark. Such a cute place should have little cream dispensers per table. We sound constructive but only because this place has favorite breakfast potential. We'll be back!

Happened upon this place while doing some holiday shopping in Lancaster. What a FANTASTIC find. The place is adorable, the people running the place are wonderful and the food is awesome! We had the pleasure of being waited on by Joan who was the sweetest and nicest person EVER! My daughter had cream chipped beef, hubs had a spinach florentine omelet and I had 'The Old Standby' which was eggs, potatoes and roasted tomatoes (YUM) and bacon. Everything was fresh and delicious. On top of that, when they bring you the check, you get oatmeal raisin cookies! They were also very good. Joan said they get them from the Central Market which is about a block up the street. Immediately upon leaving, we went there and got more cookies to bring home! A great experience. Will be back!

Best breakfast joint in all of lancaster. I have had trouble finding a decent non-dairy pancake (due to an allergy), and their vegan pancakes really do the pancake justice. I definitely will come back here again and again!

Formerly Wish You Were Here, still very arty and stylish, but we wish there was more menu diversity, though the food is very good and high quality. You can still get the Swedish buckwheat pancakes, vegan-style, and they even serve Earth Balance butter. And the wonderful homemade sausage is still on the menu too. Advice: order one pancake, not two, no matter how hungry you think you are. They are huge enough to cover the plate. The bread has milk and eggs, but you can get the lentil hummus as a salad plate, and the soups are made fresh and sometimes are vegan. We kept seeing people come out of a door, though we assumed the restaurant was one room. It is not. There are two more rooms downstairs, along with a pretty and private patio. The bathroom is here too, and there were very cool photos on exhibit while we were there. Nice ambient electronica can't help but relax you. After your brunch, there are plenty of cool places to wander to. The people of Lancaster love their downtown.

Finding vegan restaurants is tough in Lancaster. Hubs and I went to On Orange this morning for breakfast. Although not a vegan restaurant they did have a few vegan options. The Swedish pancake comes veganized with Earth Balance and apple sauce. I got a side of vegan sausage. The pancake, made with oats, was super delicious and hearty and cannot imagine eating more than one plate sized cake. The owner explained they use gimme lean vegan sausage and it was a great addition to the meal. Hubs got the lentil hummus sans bread because it wasn't vegan but they added a nice side salad. At the end of the meal, snickerdodles are brought out with the check, however our server was mindful and brought us a vegan option of dark chocolate covered espresso beans--breakfast dessert. With local artist creations on the walls to a good overall energetic vibe, we enjoyed On Orange.

Best breakfast in Lancaster city, hands down. Indian omelette, swedish oatmeal pancakes, vegan sausage, oh On Orange, you complete me. :) Ingredients are incredibly fresh, healthy, and delicious. The ambience is very comfortable and quirky. Local artwork is for sale on the walls. Prices are quite affordable and the staff is experienced and friendly. Good stuff, all around!

Take a guess where this tasty gem is located?!.. BINGO "On Orange" ! If you happen to be visiting Downtown Lancaster's Amazing Farmers Market on Saturday morning, drop off your bags of Amish Goodies in the car and stroll around the corner to On Orange! On Orange is the old "Wish You Were Here" Restaurant. Most of the food and decor has stayed the same (still homemade, organic and local). The morning after my Husband & I were married we stopped by On Orange for breakfast before heading out on our Newly Weds Road Trip. BREAKFAST & BRUNCH is WHERE IT'S AT! HOLY AMISH COWS, this place is wicked good! Everything is so creative, fresh and organic. Don't you DARE leave without giving their SWEDISH PANCAKES AND WAFFLES also known as "Svenska Pannkakor" (Made with Organic Oats, Served with Maple Syrup & Stewed Apples) a try! When I want breakfast in Lancaster... this is always my GO TO! :)

My husband and I were visiting Lancaster this past weekend and found this place on our Yelp app as a good, highly rated restaurant....and we were not disappointed! Even though the place is a bit small the service is prompt so people can dine and leave as quick as possible. The waitstaff is friendly and visits your table just enough to get you what you need and check on you. They are very attentive about coffee and water refills, which I loved. I had the Western omelette with a side of multi-grain toast and potatoes (potatoes came with the omelette). Everything on my plate was excellent. The omelette was a nice large serving and the toast was nice and thick. My husband had the Chilequiles (sp?) which were excellent. The portion size of the Chilequiles was a bit small for the price of $9.95, but it tasted amazing. We were served our food and given our check promptly and were able to leave in plenty of time to finish a lot of things we had planned for that day. I'm giving this place a 4 rating because of the small Chilequiles portion and also because the inside is a bit smaller than I personally like. I highly recommend this restaurant and my husband and I definitely want to come back and try their pancakes, since I see those got rave reviews here.

Serves breakfast only (except for First Friday dinners). Good food. Great ambience. Fast service. Friendly folks. The building is a classic, though the downstairs bathroom is a little too close to some tables (I felt a little guilty upon exit). We've had breakfasts (always good) and dinner (they are open for reservations on First Friday, which is usually a set menu-- you have to ask). Definitely recommend.

My sister and I visited Amish Country for the first time. And, we started our day off here at On Orange. What a perfect call!! It's a small cafe with great service, delish coffee and near-perfect food. I had the omelet of the day...provolone and pesto. Served with potatoes/tomatoes and toast. It was good. And, perhaps, I would have believed it to be great...UNTIL I tried my sis' grilled cheese. OMG. Crazy mixes of cheese and the most perfect bread. It was INCREDIBLE! Oh, don't forget to try a swedish pancacke!!! Yumm!!! And, again, the coffee was fresh and hot. Great great cafe!!

What an amazing restaurant. On Orange is THE best place for breakfast in downtown Lancaster. (Previously, Wish You Were Here) The new owner is friendly, hospitable, and simply wonderful. Food comes out FAST!! and good! certainly not like before when it took nearly an hour for even the easiest breakfast. With the new owner is also a new staff... with all the positive accolades of the new owner. Previously, the tension among the staff and kitchen was palpable. Not so anymore. The owner would often have tirades screaming at her staff for the most ridiculous mistakes... did she think people really wanted to listen to that when they ate? (or more appropriately while they WAITED for their food). Wish You Were Here was dirty and musty and had simply no character. On Orange, is fresh, clean, and attractive. Great art from area artists adorns the walls and the downstairs has been renovated with fresh paint and a casual style. And saving the best for last; the food!... is amazing! The swedes are perfect, and not quiet the same as before.. they're better. (of course they're not actually the same recipe - thank god!) The menu is eclectic and has something that would appeal to most anyone. On Orange is simply the best breakfast place (compared to WYWH or anywhere) and anyone who says otherwise is obviously someone without standards or taste. On Orange.. Keep up the GREAT WORK!! You rock!

Very yummy! My husband and I were in town on a whimsical weekend adventure and always rely on Yelp reviews for our restaurant choices. The positive reviews of On Orange did not disappoint! We went for breakfast and both had the well known Swedish pancakes and waffles. We also ordered sides of eggs and bacon. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals as well as the great, friendly service. I rated 4/5 because of 2 things: the bacon is really, really well done. If you don't like it that way, make sure to request a different preparation. Also, I asked for fresh fruit and was told that it is only offered during spring/summer months. A bit disappointing because I enjoy fruit with breakfast. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely return should we find ourselves in Lancaster again.

Adorable local brunch spot but beware you'll be waiting for a bit during peak times in the morning. Luckily I was armed with a Dunkin coffee while I sat/stood outside. On Orange has both upstairs and downstairs seating. We sat downstairs and I ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelet, and shared a swedish pancake. Delicious homey food and great service - people are friendly and nice (one waiter mistaken me for a girl he went to high school with). Also note the bathrooms are small even for someone short like me.

I am updating my review. I find that this is THE must go to breakfast/lunch restaurant in Lancaster. I originally had Rachel's ahead, but On Orange never seems to disappoint. The more often I go, the better it seems to get. Do yourself a favor and try it out. The menu has no weaknesses and everyone working there seems very pleasant and genuine. Enjoy!

My wife and 4yo daughter visited for breakfast and was pleased to discover this gem in Lancaster before we departed to our home out of state. We had heard that the "Orange" restaurant was good but, being from out of town, wasn't certain where on Orange Street it was located. Initially we parked in front of another restaurant that had a large Orange on it's sign. I was able to locate the phone number of "On Orange" that we wanted to try, and learned we had parked at the wrong restaurant. On Orange was down a few blocks. There was a parking spot out front with no meter that we ducked into. The waitstaff was welcoming and the service was prompt. There are lots of organic, healthy items on the menu with some vegan choices too. I included two photos of the menu. This is a breakfast and lunch place. It closes at 2pm and is not open on Mon or Tue. My wife and daughter each got a Swedish pancake that they enjoyed along with vegan sausage. One was plenty for each of them. I ordered the baked oatmeal and skim milk. A very unique dish that I found filling and delicious. We will be returning to On Orange when we drive through Lancaster again. I highly recommend it!

On Orange is my favorite place for breakfast in Lancaster. The food is delicious and fresh. They are always coming up with new and unique omelettes to try. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Even though it's typically packed on a weekend, you never have to wait long. The only critique I could give them is to try some more gluten free items, ex. GF pancakes.

Absolutely best breakfast in Lancaster - I'm sorry I only discovered it as a senior. Cute place, great quiche - I think it was spring veggies or asparagus - and the BEST toast. I miss On Orange a lot since I graduated.

Funky, interesting place for breakfast. The Swedish pancakes are very good and very filling. They are oatmeal based so heavier than typical pancakes. I really liked them but can't imagine eating more than two. My wife had a nicely prepared omelet. The vibe is fun and interesting. We will be back.

Very small restaurant with insanely deliciously food! We both got the Florentine omelet which was filled with mushrooms, spinach and provolone cheese. Each had the roasted potatoes and tomatoes as well as their 7 grain bread. Amazing!!! And no waiting around to have your coffee warmed up. Very quick service, pleasant staff, couldn't ask for a better first time experience! Most definitely will go back!

We grew up in Lancaster and are very familiar with these streets, after being away for 8 years it was very nice to stumble upon this quaint & cozy hometown spot. We liked how you could tell the staff all enjoyed what they do from the great service. We had a chance to meet chef Melissa and you could tell she is passionate, keep up the great work. As far as the food we had, the Swedish pancakes are the best we ever had. We told all of our family in area what they are missing to get them ASAP. Have to agree with Anna P about the Chilequiles it had great flavor and we liked the spice but the thing we would change is not having the soggy chips, bit more cheese and also another egg or 2 for more yolk. The multigrain bread was also very good, thick and soft. The muffaletta was also worthy! Needless to say this will be our breakfast spot when we visit family every year and our family will soon adopt this habit as well. If you are an out of tower and can visit the Central Market a block away we highly suggest getting local favorites there also, this completes the experience after a great meal!

  • Molly N.

Terrible management and mediocre food. On Orange is a breakfast place across the street from central market, yet they run out of bacon on a regular basis. They refused to substitute vegan sausage for the bacon even though they are the same price on the menu, as if it was my fault that they ran out of bacon. When I requested to see the manager to find a solution for their lack of bacon, she hid in the kitchen and sent her minion to inform me that they would give me one piece of sausage instead of two or no side at all. Neither customer service nor problem solving seem to be on the agenda of the management here. I could not enjoy my meal because I was so furious from how poorly I was treated as a paying customer. I will not be going back.

This restaurant used to be Wish You Were Here until the owner decided to call it quits. WYWH used to have a really nice relaxed vibe with a cool, casual staff. And the food was incredible. My wife and I used to go to WYWH regularly and it was always an event. What eating out should be. And who doesn't love a great breakfast? Unfortunately On Orange, the replacement, is rather stuffy and just not any fun, like the old place. Even worse, the food is overpriced and bland. Even the great coffee WYWH used to serve has gone downhill. I now refer to this place as "Wish You Didn't Suck.' On the upside, they do still have the Swedish pancakes, which are excellent. The last time I was there they did not have the old WYWH vegan sausage, but I see from reviews here they may have this again. I heard they bought some recipes from the old owner (the pancakes and the sausage, maybe a few others). These are the highlights of On Orange for sure.

I don't know if I've been to a restaurant where every staff member was as nice and attentive as On Orange. Small but interesting menu and a completely awesome staff. I had the Chilaquiles which had a great spice to it, rarely do I get a dish where "spicy" is in the description and I don't have to add hot sauce. When our server, Joanne, was told by my wife that I like spicy she brought 3 different hot sauces to the table but I really didn't have to add any to the dish (but I did). If you haven't been here you need to try it.

Good food, fresh ingredients, friendly service, cute place, good prices. We tried the peasant omelette (tomatoes, potatoes, herbs, and cheddar) - really good - with a side of roasted tomatoes and hash browns (I preferred the tomatoes - small portion of potatoes and a bit undercooked). We also tried the chilaquiles which were fantastic with a fried egg on top, the flavor of the chorizo and tomato salsa was great, a little bit of spice too. The toast was delicious too - we tried both country white and seven grain and liked both but the seven grain was the winner. Complimentary homemade oatmeal raisin cookies with the bill is a cute touch. Clearly a popular place, you may have to wait for a table. But I would definitely recommend On Orange.

Fantastic! My wife and I got their vegan breakfast, and everything was delicious. The veggie sausage was the best I've ever had - and I've eaten at a lot of vegan restaurants across the country. Meat eaters: this is the perfect place to take your vegan friends.

Wow...what a great little find for breakfast/lunch! Tasty and interesting food, very (very) friendly staff and fantastic coffee. We had the Swedish pancakes and the Chiquiles (sp?)....we each ate half and switched -- did not know which we liked better they were both so good. It is obvious that only fresh ingredients are used and that the chef is talented. Will be back whenever we can.
