This Olive Garden is hit or miss. Most of the time the food is good. Service can also be hit or miss. This is one of the more busy Olive Gardens so be aware that if your going at peak times that you will be waiting for a VERY LONG time. The salad is one of my favorites! There is not much more to say. I would rather eat here then the Macaroni Grill. Parking can get filled.

There was a time that I use to be ok with going to Olive Garden. The food was consistent and acceptable for chain Italian. However, things seem to have changed. We stopped in for dinner due to having a gift card so free is ok with me. No problem getting a seat on a Sunday afternoon. Service (Mandy) was good, but not overly excited about being there. Drinks came quick, which is always good for me. I always have a drink in my hand. We always choose the salad since that is one thing they are suppose to be known for. First issue: What changed with the salad? The dressing is not the same as it use to be, It is thicker, more viscous then it use to be. It also was down right salty. Just did not expect the OG salad dressing to ever be other then what they have build a brand on. I ordered the Salmon Bruschetta. It was served over a seafood risotto.....well suppose to be according to the menu. The salmon was ok, but just a touched overcooked. The pesto was missing enough olive oil to make it smooth so it lay on the fish as a thick paste. Now seafood risotto I believe is suppose to have, well, seafood in it. There was maybe .5oz of crabmeat mixed in. It may have had some seafood broth mixed in, but I have my doubts. For me I take the term risotto literally as in the Italian rice dish cooked with broth to a (sexy), creamy consistency. This was a rice pilaf.....very different. Word of advice....it you use the term risotto please be sure you know what it is and how to make it. Overall the "risotto" was an under spiced, bland version of a good idea. Chain restaurants say they go to great lengths to develop recipes based on old-world classics or creative nuvo cuisine. If you develop them in your test kitchens please ensure your ability to transfer the methods and success to the tables of your customers. This is one major reasons why I typically will not spend my $60.00 at a chain when I can support small, local restaurants for near the same price.

I will say this, when its that packed, its a sign of good food. We were lucky to get a table at the cafe area. Although the service was a bit slow, food was amazing. I haven't been here in years actually and it still has the friendly atmosphere. The Soup I got was a bit too creamy for my taste, but I liked it, and I liked my meal which was kind of a steak on Alfredo pasta. The only reason I probably won't go back any time soon though I like the place, the price range is a little high for me. I mean, the food is great quality, but the price is up there. All in all, if you like Italian, this is one of the places to go.

This restaurant is always busy but we use call ahead seating and it seems to help a lot. I had the chicken scampi and it was wonderful.

We were in Lancaster area for 3 days and ate here twice! It is one of the best fine-dining restaurant in the vicinity and very close to Tanger outlets. Both the drinks menu and food menu were sumptuous and had amazing choices for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The food was tasty and the staff attended us promptly. In a area where most restaurants close by 8 PM, this is a blessing for late night monsters. ;)

This is truly the center of evil in the food service industry. If you go there, you will get what you deserve

Who can argue with soup, salad and bread sticks for lunch? Answer: No one! The husband and I stopped in here for a quick lunch, after shopping. There was a short wait, but nothing we weren't willing to tolerate. Our "quick lunch" turned into quite the stay. We waited a good 10 minutes for our waitress to approach and ask for our drink order. We ordered drinks (water for me, soda for him) and told her we were going to do the soup, salad and bread sticks lunch. We both ordered the same soup....how much easier does it get? After 15 minutes (plus), she finally brought our salad and bread sticks...umm, what about our drinks and soup? 10 minutes later, drinks. Salad bowl empty, glasses empty, 15 more minutes and FINALLY she asks if we need anything. Um yeah Genius, more salad, our FIRST bowl(s) of soup and more drinks. Needless to say, great food, bad service, dismal tip.

I agree with the other reviews... lunch time is insanely busy, however this is NOT the reason why I'm giving this horrible a** of a place 1 star. The reason is because, "we have to wait for a table big enough for five". This was the answer given to us after we asked as to who much longer it's going to be since we've been waiting for an hour already and was told that it will only be 30 minutes before we'll be seated. This in my opinion is unacceptable. Do not tell me that you have to make a table big enough, simply tell me that you are sorry for the extended wait and that the minute a table is open, you'll be seated. This is the correct response, not the crap that was told. It took another 20 minutes before we finally got seated and it was not like we got seated at a table for five, they just added a chair to a table for four, so of course, when we did the soup and salad deal, table space was limited. After we were given that statement I dropped the f-bomb loud enough for management to hear. I know, I know, not very mature, but hello...! Be professional and treat your customers better! I will never come back here and if there is a way for me to write into Olive Garden to file my complaint, I will/would. Anyways, I'll go to the one in York from now on whenever I'm in this area. Last comment...HORRIBLE!

It seems as though no matter when I go, there is always a wait to be seated, but it is worth the wait. As far as all of the big chain restaurants go, Olive Garden is by far my favorite. I usually go for the Chicken Alfredo, but I have also tried their specials and it is consistently good.

Other than the wait to be seated, this isnt a bad place at all to eat. The endless salad and breadsticks are good and there are some non meat choices on the menu. I wont call them vegetarian because they arent listed that way. They just dont have meat. The drawback to this place is the wait. Anyplace that gives you a device to alert you when youre table is ready is too long of a wait for me. But the fact that so many people go here that they have to give a device to alert you to a waiting table is a good sign.

I am by far so disgusted with the way we were treated. Walked in to put our name and the 1st thing we were asked why couldn't we have a short name like Juan. Who does that and jokes about about it with other co workers. Than as were called to our seats the host who just heard us have a conversation in english still asked if we wanted our menus in spanish. What kind of fuckery is that. Our server was awesome but that was about the only thing good about this place. I will never walk into this business again. I will be making sure anyone we know wont be stepping foot in your business.

I am an Olive Garden fan, honestly. The service at this location was so poor that if it wasn't for a good history with the chain, I would never return. The food was as good as always. Love the breadsticks, salad and all of our entrees were plentiful and delicious. This became more about poor service than anything about the meal. We were seated for a later dinner so crowd was not an issue. The waiter took awkwardly long to appear and when he did..yikes. Ordered wine that took too long to receive, too long for salad, entrees seemed timely but then he served the men first. Do servers receive training anymore? He was a pleasant guy but it takes more than a smile. I generally patronize the York Co. location and that's where I will return.

I came here tonight for the first time with my boyfriend! The hostess held the door open for us and took us to our table, she was sweet. Our waitress Mandy was totally awesome! I work at a restaurant as well and I know it can be busy at times but I'm glad she was still able to make her round and check up on us. The bread sticks are just fabulous! We're not much complainers when we go out to eat, but I'll admit the trout we had was ok. Wasn't anything special but overall, great experience and great waitress! We will come back again! :)

I know lots of people, well meaning, nice people, like my wife and my kid, who love Olive Garden. I do not. I hate it. The last time I was in there was for, of course, my kid's birthday. There was a problem with the seating, then a problem with the serving staff, needless to say, after ninety minutes of no food and one glass of water, I left. The management there is without a clue. The serving staff may as well be work release inmates because they don't want to be there serving ten dollar bottomless pasta bowls to cheap ass customers who wouldn't pay eleven dollars for a bottomless pasta bowl. This place is the ghetto of bad McDonald's style Italian food. Don't go there. Please. Thank you.

I am terminally ill and unable to sit down and eat in a seated restaurant facility. A friend from Texas offered to buy me and my wife dinner tonight at this restaurant by ordering the food by phone and paying for it by credit card over the phone, that way all wed have had to do was go pick up the food. Unfortunately, Olive Garden does not allow the practice of purchasing food by phone in this manner (I'm guessing to prevent fraud, and I can understand their stance). My friend in Texas spoke with the manager on duty to explain the situation and went as far as to tell him what was wrong with me, why I can't dine in, and how horrible my appetite has been and that me wanting to and willing to eat was a small miracle in itself and that for me to want them was truly a big deal and could they make a one time exception in this case. They agreed. She took our order, and called them back and placed the order for us. She went to pay by credit card over the phone and was told by the manager that had agreed to allow it that they couldn't do it because of policy and consumer safety. But, he offered a solution. Understanding the situation and realizing that this wasn't a begging situation and was somewhat of a big deal for a cancer patient that had about a month left to live and just wanted olive garden food, he paid for the meal himself. The initial waitress and this manager were heaven sent. I am not a godly person and never will be. But this man made both my friend in Texas and me cry. It's nice to know that humanity and kindness still exist in today's downward spiral of society. To have 2 people in restaurant scene take to heart just how sick a person is and that to get a dying man who barely eats a meal that he wants to actually eat was a big... no HUGE deal. He made sure he didn't break his companies policies by allowing the payment over the phone, and handled the situation with a full, golden heart and some high tact. Your kindness will always be appreciated and hopefully not go unnoticed. You 2 employees made a sick man happy, smile, and actually eat more than usual tonight. My wife will never forget what you did for us today. From the bottom of both our hearts, THANK YOU!

Smoked chicken mozzarella. Three small pieces of chicken and not much sauce at all. Not a good choice.

If I could put no stars I would. Me and my boyfriend went went there for lunch today. We were only on our salad and something was chewy when he took a bite so he spit it out and it was already used chewing gum. (Side Note: HE WASNT CHEWING GUM) To say the least we were both severally disgusted. We asked for the manager and he apologized but had no words, my boyfriend was beyond ticked off and we left immediately after talking to the manager. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!

This was not a good dining experience food wise, however our server was fantastic. I dined with my two friends and we were all somewhat confused as to what to get. We all ordered off of the "Lighter Italian Fare" menu. One person in my party ordered the Capellini Pomodoro with Chicken and then then my other friend and I both ordered the Lasagna Primavera with Grilled Chicken. As someone who frequently packs my lunch to work I can 100% assure you that the Lasagna Primavera with Grilled Chicken is a frozen meal that tastes like a Lean Cuisine. It perhaps was one of the most vile meals I have ever had in a restaurant setting that I was expected to pay for in recent memory. My friend who ordered the Capellini Pomodoro with Chicken asked for red pepper and fresh pepper to even make his meal tolerable. After our server realized my friend had to doctor up his meal she comped his, which was much appreciated (but not expected). Although its great that there is a "healthy" option on the menu, Olive Garden could perhaps take a lesson from Applebees who has been serving edible (while not gourmet) lighter fare for quite some time. *bleh*

Always liked this place. Yes it's a chain and yes the wait can be long but the food is good and the quality is consistent. Now to the real reason I am writing this review. They have introduced some new menu items that are unique for the Olive Garden and are worth trying. My wife and I went a few weeks ago for adult alone time dinner. I had the Mediterranean grilled trout and my wife had the crab topped chicken. Both were prepared nicely and were delicious. We would highly recommend giving them a try if you want something a little different than the traditional pasta with sauce Italian dishes.

The soup was amazing. Pasta was a little dry but added sauce made it better. The bread sticks were incredible. The service was good. Slow at some points but overall good experience. Will be back for the soup.

Excellent meal, excellent service, not too cold inside as before, lighting turned down a bit for nice ambiance, and the hostess asked us whether we preferred a booth or a table! A+ all around!

Went there with my family, I have 2 little kids, waitress first made us sit in bar area, my wife went to restroom and saw all restraunt was empty, she asked waitress, why she made us sit in bar when we have 2 kids, she said " you wanna change seats", we said ofcourse, with kids we can't sit in bar area, so she moved us, now we waited 20 mins. In empty restraunt before server came and took orders, garlic bread arrived and we ordered food, it took 45 mins. Later food arrives, it tasted like shit, it looked like someone just microwaved and brought it. While we are eating somehow, another waitress broke plates , broken glass was in floor for 15 mins.then was cleaned and another waitress again broke plates. We just wanted to leave fast. Please avoid. Very bad location

I've dined at this location, as well as two others at least a dozen times in the last twenty years and honestly don't know what the fuss is about. Each time it was only because: A) we had a gift card B) were meeting friends and that was their dining choice. Personally I find the only items on the menu to be worthwhile is the zuppa tuscana and the salad. If it wasn't for these two items I would give the Olive Garden a two star rating. All the other dishes are bland, tasteless, and never look like the pictures. I just ordered rosemary chicken that came with a side of spinach over the weekend, and out came three teeny green leaves, and they consider that a side?!? Service is slow and the wait always long, although there's always a ton of empty tables so why the long waits. Are they short staffed or just unorganized. And that décor...ugh! Outdated!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
