Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Desserts are a big NO for you if you are worried about your high cholesterol levels. It is recommended to skip all kinds of desserts, especially the Brownie Obsession. On our way to generic corporate chain for a lunch a couple days ago and saw a relatively full parking lot for a cute cafe/diner and thought hey I'll remember that place and try it, then had a gut - feeling; hunger I suppose, that I should try out Ida's. Went with a pork pesto pannini. Delicious, porky was juicy with just the perfect amount of vinegar. The fries were above average but could have been a touch crisper. The prices being affordable and having a demanding diet I also went with two overheard eggs on some wheat toast. Was the perfect complement. Service was courteous and attentive. Will be back, and soon.

Love Love Love Ida's!! I am satisfied every time I have breakfast there. Especially because I can go before work during the week...they are open at 6!! Also, the staff is always so polite and welcoming!

Came on a whim and wow we all loved our fresh breakfast. Eggs wjth ham, choco chip pancakes, sugar cookie pancakes and fresh coffee. All so yummy. Staff super nice. Totally recommend this place

While I can understand the nostalgic appeal for locals, this small cafe presents modest breakfasts and lunches which fall short of high Yelp rating. The prices are reasonable and food isn't bad. This cafe falls somewhere between cafe and diner. And truthfully there are better restaurants in either direction, cafe or diner! Like I said it's not a bad restaurant. But with so many great eateries in Lancaster, I'd prefer any of the other delicious options.

This is our absolute favorite place to go to.. we usually stick to breakfast there. But we do LOVE their cheesefries!! Their cream chip beef is literally the best in the tristate! It is a lil pricey but its totally worth it. We get to go from there all the time too. They are sooo fast in the kitchen, our orders usually take about 10 minutes or less. I wish they had a rewards program somehow.

Not bad, but not great. Eggs Benedict came with over easy eggs instead of poached, and the biscuits and gravy were great, there just wasn't enough gravy. Asked for a side of gravy, but they don't sell it that way.

Went to Ida's Cafe after a weekend reunion nearby with some college friends and had a fantastic experience. I called only 15 minutes ahead of time and asked if they could accommodate 12 of us on such short notice... And they did! I volunteered that we did not have to be seated at one large table - and when we arrived, we only waited 5 minutes before being seated at three different tables. The menu was above standard in terms of breakfast - with a nice selection of staples and some interesting combinations (specialty omelettes, etc.) I went with a staple - two eggs, hash browns, toast, and scrapple - no complaints at all. Everything that my friends ordered seemed to be enjoyed as well. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming, but most importantly - efficient for a busy Sunday morning.

Went to Ida's for breakfast with a friend. It was good, but wasn't anything special to write home about. My friend got the pumpkin pancakes, she said she liked them because they weren't overly sweet. I got the smoked salmon omelette. I was surprised to find that most of the components of the omelette were actually toppings. The omelette was filled with salmon and topped with raw tomatoes, onions, cucumbers & capers. It was an ok omelette, but I was disappointed that there wasn't much filling. I also got the French Vanilla Cappuccino. It was good if you don't like espresso because there was minimal espresso in the drink; it was mainly sugar, milk and vanilla flavoring. Like I said, the cafe was good. However, I wasn't overly impressed!

The coffee was great, I had three cups, the food was good, the wait staff was very sweet. My coffee cup had lipstick on it though...good thing my mom saw that and pointed it out to me. No Bueno and the reason I gave it 3 instead of 4 stars. Also the plates, though nice are a bit too large for the table which got overcrowded quickly.

Five bucks get two scrambled eggs, some home fries and two pieces of toast. Not bad but I think the prices on the rest of the menu are a little high, not a lot, but not cheap by any means. Here's why Ida's got two stars from me. -The server was a pest. She was, literally, at the table about every forty seconds until we ordered asking us if we were ready to order and no Ma'am, generally speaking, people with open menus are not ready to order. Eventually we just gave in ordered. -Scrambled eggs. The stuff on my looked (and tasted) like the dry crumbles that have been sitting on an open buffet too long. Sorry, totally unacceptable for a restaurant. -Two pieces of burned, mostly dry toast. Seriously, it's toast. If it's black on the edges, do not serve it. -Home fries, and this should be in quotation marks. I got the "new" "cubes which are clearly some premade product they frozen and deep fry until they're little crunch cubes. They're not bad but slapping some limp and greasy onion and peppers on them does not make them potatoes or even better. It's clear from the taste that the potatoes and the peppers and onions were cooked separately and if you're going to do that, what's the point? So, other than the re4ally nice cashier on the way and the delicious looking cookies, Ida's was washout for me. Lancaster has tons of diners that know how to make scrambled eggs, how not to burn toast and actually cook and season their potatoes properly. Your money and time is best spent elsewhere.

Simple little hidden restaurant with welcoming personnel, nice choice of dishes, rapid service and tasty. Feeling that they take pleasure in satisfying your needs. Montecristo was simple with a new taste for me, served with jelly on the side ( i was also offered maple sirup). A good choice. Finished with cookie and coffee to go, perfect lunch.

Just had the salmon platter and was SO delighted by the large amount of lox! For you lox fans you should note it is not Nova but Belly Lox- still delish! Dad had the rise and shine omelette, hubby had an omelette with veggies and feta and Mom had a short stack if pancakes. Everything was great! I also liked the coffee, but I tend to like weaker coffee, my dad likes stronger bolder flavors than I do and he said for his taste, the coffee was "okay". This place gets busy in the am (especially on the weekend) so be prepared to wait a little, especially if there are a few of you. In my opinion though, I do not mind the wait for the good food, pleasant service and homey atmosphere.

My husband and I went to Ida's today for breakfast. The pumpkin french toast was highly recommended so we decided to try it. A small dab of pumpkin filling between two slices of french toast and some whip cream. None of the food was even warm, I like hot food. It was ok, but very expensive. I was shocked when the check came and the French toast was $10.29. I have never paid $30.00 for breakfast. We did also have coffee and one small order of homefries. I don't think we will go to Ida's anymore. Just to expensive.

Horrible service! My boyfriend and I went there about 11 AM Sunday morning for breakfast. There were about 5 people ahead of us and they quoted us that it would be 10-15 minutes. We went outside the front door to wait since the waiting area was crowded, and other people were waiting outside too. After about 10 minutes, someone came out and called for another party waiting. Another 10 minutes went by and we were noticing empty tables inside and that people who came after us were already seated. I went inside to check on our status. The woman looked agitated as she asked for my name, then said "oh we thought you left and crossed you off". I asked her why since we were standing right in her line of sight through the glass door, and had just been calling other people outside. She shrugged and didn't offer me any explanation or apology. I asked her how long the wait would be, and she once again looked agitated and said "I don't know, maybe another 15 minutes". I asked why the people after us would get a table before us since we now had been waiting 20 minutes, she just told me they were holding empty tables since parties of 8 had shown up--long after we had put our name in. Huh? I understand that mistakes happen (I work in retail myself) but I don't understand copping a huge attitude when I asked why we were still waiting. No apology for the mistake. No trying to get us a table. Nothing. We will never go back there again. Their service is absolutely ridiculous and actually offensive.

My sister and I had breakfast here a few days ago. I didn't find the breakfast menu to be particularly pricey. As a matter of fact, I thought the prices were quite reasonable, with the exception of the pancakes, which were a little high priced. The food we were served was delicious and plentiful. The coffee was wonderful. The service was fantastic. Our waitress couldn't give us coffee refills any faster! The next time I am in this area, I will certainly have breakfast here again.

Imaginative concoctions, very tasty, quickly served, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Couldn't do better at home - they know how to pamper their customers!

Lancaster's hidden gem. No advertising other then word of mouth and a huge following. Expect to wait on a busy Sunday morning after church. Consistently good unique food (owner himself does ALL the cooking so it's the same every time), beautiful plating, friendly staff, and attractive, clean surroundings. We've never had a dish we were unhappy with. On the downside, it is a little pricey, and expect to pay at least $20 for 2 for breakfast, but the food is fresh and tasty so it works. Sad that they don't have a dinner service but the owner has to go home sometime!

Excellent breakfasts. The biscuits that were a part of the sausage gravy were great and my wife's omelet was very tasty. The home fries were outstanding. My wife's niece's breakfast bacon and egg bagel was excellent. She has enjoyed Ida's delicious breakfasts previously.

Employees were friendly and service was fast. I had the Chef's omelet which was tasty but could have used a bit more feta. My wife had the Mexican omelet which she enjoyed except that it was cold. Since the service was so fast it was likely due to the salsa on top which must have been super cold because it made the whole omelet cold. I like the variety of breakfast items on the menu, this place is definitely on our short list when determining where to eat breakfast on the weekends. The one short coming is the size of the tables. There was barely enough room for our plates, the server ended up taking the condiments off to make room.

I definitely think this place can be considered a hidden gem in Lancaster. I've driven past this place many times and never noticed it. We went to eat there recently on the recommendation of a good friend and we're so glad we followed through on this recommendation. I had the Monte Cristo. It is on the menu as being served with Raspberry preserves but I opted for maple syrup (I've had it like this at other places and it's so good like this). I've had Monte Cristos at other places and I'd have to say that the best one I've ever had was at Ida's Cafe! This one is dipped in egg batter! AMAZING (but probably not good for me, haha). My fiancee had a turkey dinner-type sandwich with an amazing cranberry mayonnaise. I will be going back and eating lunch there in the future, I've also heard the breakfast is incredible. But for these sandwiches, I highly recommend this nice little cafe!

Was so looking forward to this. The menu looked excellent online. The place was cute and clean. The staff was freindly. Nice variations on breakfast favorites on the menu. I saw Crab Benedict and I was excited. I LOVE poached eggs and the crabmeat and asparagus were an added benefit. Then I ordered it. Ugh. The eggs were overdone!!!! BIG no-no for poached eggs. I love a runny yoke, this was solid! The hollandaise sauce was flavorless and the asparagus were pale green. They charge $2 for coffee, not sure if that included refills, because it was never offered. My husband did like his cheesesteak omelet (although he said it was "minute" steak, not fresh steak). $25 for 2 people. Pricey for a blech breakfast.

The first time I went here I had breakfast and it was nice. This time I had lunch and it was terrible. I had an apple walnut chicken salad and there was nothing good about it. It had way too much onion and dressing. It was tossed so much that everything was soggy. Very few walnuts and the chicken wasn't flavorful. Very big disappointment and I will not go back, not even for breakfast. My husband used the restroom and said the floors were sticky. Yuck.

Had breakfast on our way out of Lancaster this morning. Very tasty. Friendly and fast service. Good prices. The raspberry Melba French toast was really good! Hubby had an omelet and home fries. Good food. Small little restaurant. I wish they were open for dinner as they are only open for breakfast and lunch. I had the chocolate mousse crepes. The were delicious but a little on the pricy side. It was 3 small crepes that I finished in 9 bites for $10. The crepes did not taste like they made them but that they cane out of a package. They were good but I will get the pancakes next time, where I get more for less money.

Yuck.

Incredible breakfasts. Really friendly staff. Prepare to wait a bit (10/15min) but it's totally worth it for breakfast! Love this place.

Had breakfast on our way out of Lancaster this morning. Very tasty. Friendly and fast service. Good prices. The raspberry Melba French toast was really good! Hubby had an omelet and home fries. It was good. I like my home fries a little more well done. Portions were large enough to make us full, but not so large we needed to carry out with us.

Me and my wife went here for a later brunch (around 2pm). The service was quite fast, and the food was fantastic! My only problem is, I find it kind of pushy dropping the check with the food. Between that, and the sweeping around us, it really made us feel rushed to eat this great food.

The fam and I had breakfast at Ida's on a recent trip to Lancaster. Food was hearty, filling, and yummy. I did the traditional eggs and bacon thing; my kid had the USA Waffle, with strawberries (red), whipped cream (white), and blueberries (blue), and enjoyed them. Sure beats Denny's. Idas is clean, tidy, and homey. Our waitress was extremely friendly and good-humored. Yay, Ida's!

The team took a co-worker here to celebrate her birthday. The food here was decent. I had the Chicken Quesadilla and would recommend it, but I'd probably try something else the next time I eat here. After reading the previous reviews, however, it seems breakfast here is the real ticket. I'll probably have to go back again and try the breakfast. A good place to eat - not sure if I'd call it a "secret" or "hidden gem"... but it's not a standard greasy spoon, either.

Thanks for the rec. It was a good breakfast place. I had sausage gravy which had separated a bit, and was not as milky or peppery as I would like. But the flavor was fine - very rich. My friend had an omelet which was actually a scramble with lots of ingredients. It was very good. She got the dry toast she asked for which doesn't always happen. The coffee was mediocre, weak, maxwell house style. Service was very good, price was right. I will go back.

Small, unadvertised, THE Best food around... I almost feel bad putting this on Yelp, only locals in the restaurant... I have a feeling it's a secret! Amazing breakfast (served all day) and the staff is some of the friendliest people on earth! If you ever get the chance this is a MUST!

This place is truly a hidden gem. I went here with a few co-workers on a Friday afternoon. It was packed,so we had to wait for about 15mins before being seated. While we were waiting,we looked up the menu and it was really hard to make up our minds,as all of the choices sounded really good. There was a breakfast section of omelets, pancakes and eggs made to order. The pancake special for the day was oatmeal-raisin. They also have soups, cold and hot sandwiches and salads. After much deliberation,I settled on a spinach omelet with sourdough toast and homefries,2 of my co workers got veggie melts on focaccia(served with chips) and another co-worker ordered an omelet as well, but made a few (reasonable,I must say)substitutions with her order, which our waitress willingly obliged. The food was absolutely fresh and tasty. The service was prompt and friendly. They also sell cookies and muffins, but I was way too full to order anything more. This is a place that I will go back to,next time perhaps I will try their pancakes or maybe one of their sandwiches.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
