Wish I could give a 1/2 star more. Generally good and pleasant. Wonderful coffees. Spouse and I had southwestern bfst wraps (good). Offspring had margarita flatbread (meh) and fries (yum). Service was attentive and prompt.

While looking for a "healthier" option to eat at yesterday (with a relaxed atmosphere, cafe style, work/wifi friendly in the Lancaster area, but not Panera Bread) Yelp suggested this establishment. I was deterred by the lower star rating but the first review I read said it was under NEW OWNERSHIP. Sounds promising right? AND my close friend Groupon just so happens to have a sweet deal for this place. So I thought this was the best time to give it a try! It was three quarters full when I arrived around 12:30pm on a Wednesday. There were a few open seats scattered around. (Fyi, there is outside seating also.) I got in line about five customers away from the checkout. The employees were moving at a consistent pace to keep the line dwindling. The noise level was average. There was music playing in the background at a reasonable volume. And the cool temperature was refreshing since it was about 90 degrees outside. Ordering was quick and easy. The staff was friendly and showed good teamwork. I had the egg white and veggies panini without the bread. So basically an omelette. And an iced coffee to go, which you pretty much make yourself at the fountain area which is nice. I sat in comfy chairs by large windows and waited for my name to be called. No more then 6 minutes later my order was ready. But the atmosphere was so pleasant and since I had work I could do, I sat for two hours eating and working. My food was delicious! The various flavors and textures were very appetizing. The egg whites were cooked to my liking and each vegetable had its distinct flavor all sautéed up with melted provolone on top. I would definitely recommend coming here for simple, clean noms. I enjoyed my experience here so much that I came back the next day and ordered the same thing (egg white/veggie omelette) and a chai tea. If you were here once before and did not have a positive experience I would highly suggest you give Fresh Farms another try!

Came here yesterday with my father who had an appointment in Lancaster and he wanted to try this place. As my father is using a walker and not very mobile, I checked the reviews to see if anyone mentioned gluten free and Jerry B wrote they have gf options, so we decided to check it out. They were busy (9 people in line before us and others starting to line up behind us.) and there was one girl working the register and a guy in the kitchen. I asked the girl at the register what was gf and she looked at me funny. If my dad could have walked to Iron Hill, I would have made a break for it. I asked if the Waldorf salad was gf and she said the chicken wasn't gf and I should try the trio salad without the chicken and they also have flatbreads that are gf. I asked what the flatbread options were, she turned and asked the guy in the kitchen if they had flatbreads. He yelled "No" without looking up. He seemed very stressed and at one point, during our order, he yelled "Stop!" and grabbed the girl at the register and brought her back to the kitchen to ask her about an order. I took a glance at the kitchen while standing there, there was food all over the floor, boxes strewn everywhere and the grill etc. looked like it needed to be thoroughly scrubbed. My order was called about 20 minutes later and my salad had the chicken on top. I asked why was there chicken on the top and the girl shrugged. I asked for a refund. She told this to the guy in the kitchen and came out and asked why. I told him she said the chicken was not gf that was sitting on my salad and he said "I wasn't aware chicken wasn't gluten free. Since when is mayonnaise and chicken not gluten free?" Oy Vey. I confirmed that everything in the salad was gf and there was no chance of cross contamination (I had asked this when ordering and she said the salad was made in a clean bowl). I told him I would get sick so I want to be sure. He rolled his eyes and said it was fine. I ate the chicken on top and it was oddly sweet and bland. My fathers said his chili and wrap were bland as well. I should have known better, I became ill from the salad. The bottom line is that if you are a Celiac, don't bother eating here. They don't give a shit anyway.

Went in last week for lunch and can not stop thinking about this place. If it wasn't 60 miles away I'd go at least once a week. I had a panini which is served on some of the best bread I've ever had. Service was great! I was with my mother who has a few dietary restrictions and she was totally covered. The new owners told us that they will soon have many more gluten free options since one of them has Celiac disease and must eat gluten free. The students on campus are lucky to have this place so close with WiFi, great coffee, and food that won't pack on the ol' freshman fifteen.

My husband and I moved within walking distance of this place in July. We've been approximately 5 or 6 times since, out of sheer convenience (whether just grabbing a coffee on a Sunday or needing some more substantial food). This place isn't fancy, but I think it's a solid 4-star establishment. It's nice and bright and cafe-esque. As someone else mentioned, I think it's under new management, the coffee is always hot and strong, and their service has been really good the handful of times I've been there. The breakfast sandwiches aren't too shabby either.

Had the pleasure of having lunch at Fresh Farms yesterday! The food was delicious! And the restaurant was squeaky clean. I had the turkey burger and it was full of flavor, not dry at all! The best part is the free frozen yogurt with your meal! Can't wait to go back with my kids :)

Very good coffee - I've had caramel and vanilla lattes that taste great. I ate here once. I got a salad and it tasted great, but that evening I had an awful stomach ache. At the time I thought I caught a bug, so it didn't scare me off. About a month later, my office ordered lunch from here. One of my coworkers ordered a flat bread. When it was chewy and a bit dry, she looked at the bottom and there was mold. :( she did call and they did offer to give her a coupon, but she did not want to risk it again. I will say this was about a year ago - so things definitely could have changed since then. I've since ordered drinks and they've been wonderful, but I am hesitant to eat here again.

Fresh Farms has good intentions but hasn't quite solidified itself as a restaurant yet and it's very obvious that they are still very unorganized. I also noticed that the whole experience was very unprofessional. The employees rudely yelled sarcastic jokes and comments to each other right in front of customers. The food is okay but a little overpriced. Overall I would say that Fresh Farms is a less qualified Panera.

I really want to like this place. It has a lot of appeal based on the menu that it offers. However the service that I get is terrible. It took about 20 minutes for them to fill a 4 item to go order. And two of the items were smoothies. They flat out forgot to make one the smoothies and I had to remind them twice that I needed it. The food was okay but the smoothies are just made from a mix with ice.

Love this place, the staff is great and really personable. My only concern is I am typically on a time crunch and if we order a burger it takes my whole lunch to get it. So avoid burgers if you are watching your time. Awesome food great service. The Napa Valley Salad is a favorite for me.

This was the 2nd time I was at Fresh Farms Cafe, and the experience wasn't the best. First time I was there, it was for lunch and the meal was OK. I wouldn't rave about it, but it wasn't terrible either. I had breakfast there this morning with a few other people and we got there around 7, when they open. I understand that when you show up right when a place opens, they might need some extra time to prepare for a rush. First guy to order asked for their oatmeal, which they didn't have. When it was my time to order, I asked for a breakfast sandwich with the eggs scrambled. She wasn't sure if they could prepare the eggs scrambled, but then agreed that they could. I also ordered an iced coffee but she said they didn't have any yet (it was 7:15 by this time). She did offer to give me a cup of ice, and I could make iced coffee with the scalding hot fresh brewed coffee. I passed, and just had hot coffee. When the sandwich came out, the eggs were fried. I contemplated taking it back, but then was convinced that I should get what I ordered. I took the sandwich back up to the counter and reminded her that I asked for scrambled eggs. At this point, she yelled back to the kitchen guy and they both told me "we can't scramble your eggs". I kind of pulled a face, but then they unwillingly took my plate and said they would make an exception this time, but they normally don't scramble the eggs. The sandwich had no flavor, and the scrambled eggs were watery. I probably wont be going there for breakfast again.

Food was okay - not bad, but not great. The sustainable and local spin on things did not seem to bring much value. I have frequented local and sustainable establishments, this one did not seem sincere. Our meal cost $22 for a half and half deal and a burger. The burger lacked taste and was a mess to eat with the amount of Thousand Island dressing they used. In a pinch, not a bad option. Otherwise try some of the other establishments within walking distance to this one.

Bad breakfast experience. One of the members of our party was told they don't scramble eggs. What?! I had their waffle breakfast sandwich. It was dry & not flavorful. Overpriced! Nice setting though.

I've been to this location twice. Coffee was okay, there's definitely better coffee around Lancaster. The first time I was here, a gentleman was very kind and friendly; promptly served my order to me. The second time I was here, the female waitress was standoffish and left me feeling unwelcomed to Freshfarms. Friends who accompanied me also did not appreciate the attitude that we received from her. The coffee I ordered was completed incorrectly, and for the price I paid, I was severely disappointed. Next time, I'll definitely check if the gentleman is working the cashier next time, otherwise I may leave disappointed again.

What a horrible place! I went there for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was disgusting. The bread, eggs and sausage all were frozen items which were heated and slapped together. There was nothing farm fresh about it. The coffee is self-serve and was so stale- it seemed still like last evening's coffee. There was a guy taking pictures of the place. While we were sitting at a table and went to get coffee, our bags & food were moved to some random, small table. When we returned, no explanations were given. On asking, the owner of the place standing next to the photographer curtly responded that they had reserved that table by putting a prop on it. Are you kidding me? You should be paying me to eat at your establishment with your pathetic food and manners. I feel bad for the employees working there with such a prick for a boss.

I have ordered sandwiches from there four or five times; always good for the price. However, I ordered a smoothie last week and it was the BIGGEST disappointment! It is made from concentrate juice and ice, there is no fresh fruit in it - considering that Lancaster has a lot of local resources for fruit (at inexpensive prices), it is really tough to call yourself "Fresh Farms" when you are using concentrated juice! I also tried their breakfast over this past weekend: egg sandwich was good but oatmeal was really blend and toppings are limited to processed stuff, once again, no fresh fruit option as toppings.

Sandwiches are good, but it takes awhile to get served. If you are on a limited lunch break I suggest calling ahead.

As a car-less F&M student, this place opening seemed like a godsend. However... I've gone maybe three times for lunch and once for breakfast (this morning), and the latter prompted this review. I arrived at 7:15, after calling to check their hours because they are not posted on the door. I ordered a plain bagel and an iced coffee. Apparently the iced coffee wasn't ready? I said I'd be sitting for a while, but she said it wouldn't be ready for a whhiiillleeee. Oh well. Hot coffee on a 100% humidity morning. Then, my bagel was burnt with hunks of half-melted butter dripping off of it. Salads are mediocre (the cheese is a kraft shrink wrapped slice torn up...), soup is watery. I'd rather ask my friends to drive me to Panera.

I was hoping this would be a good place to grab a quick lunch. I was very disappointed. I had a turkey burger and for some reason from the theme of the place I expected ground turkey in the shape of a patty, not a processed, previously frozen circle of "meat" that was spongy. I will not be going back.

  • Phil K.

Two stars is pretty generous considering that it they forgot me and three other people's orders. Like...completely forgot them. We stood there for 40 minutes before they even put our orders in. Salads are mediocre. The whole fresh and sustainability theme seems like what it is, a theme. Not applied anywhere.

Before Fresh Farm's opened, I (an F&M student anxious for some better off campus food) was stoked. However, the hype didn't live up. The storefront promotes local, sustainable foods, freshly made, yet many of the ingredients in the food options on their menu are neither local nor sustainable. This is a shame because Lancaster is great for local foods, given the agriculturally-rich area. What's worse, the first three or four times I tried the cafe, the chefs messed up my order and were not very kind when I asked for them to fix it. And these are not small mess ups, I mean I ordered a sandwich with chicken and you give me tuna? Another time, I chose the spinach waldorf salad, which was full of ice berg and romaine lettuce. If you are out of spinach just let me know and I'll pick something else, don't lie to me! These mishaps were last spring which deterred me from visiting Fresh Farms. Yesterday I went for breakfast and was, however, pleasantly surprised! I had a Waffler sandwich and coffee. But the breakfast was good, aside from needing extra syrup to make the waffles less dry, and I enjoyed it in a nice comfy chair with some pleasant Christmas music. I have heard from friends that the service is improving and the food quality as well. Maybe now that the restaurant has been open for almost a year they are figuring it out. So be wary and don't expect any local specialties, but fine for a quick fix. Recommend: The Waffler Sandwich, $4.89; flatbread pizzas Glitch: Poor service, questionable message

The food was good, and we got our food quickly. The people acted like they would rather be doing anything but being there, though. I have come to Fresh Farms numerous times - enough times to expect rude service each time I went. However, it is a convenient place to go if you only have a few minutes to get a coffee or get a quick bite. In fact, this is the only reason I kept coming back. The two stars here is only because the food isn't as bad as the service. The menu lacks anything spectacular but I've certainly had worse. Nevertheless, I did not feel compelled to write this yelp review to simply write that the food was "ok." In fact, I have never written a review for any food establishment before. Yet, I took the time to download the Yelp app, create an account, and write this review. I wrote this because of how appalled and offended I was by the service at Fresh Farms. Earlier this week I had come in and was welcomed with friendly service and was so happy with my visit I decided to come back today! I even spread the word about the new hours, the new employees from F&M and how great my experience was here. In fact when I came in today, I brought a few other people here. Despite me bringing service to this "establishment," the man at the register, who I presume to be the manager, was so poorly trained in customer service, I predict he will play a major role in Fresh Farm's inevitable downfall. This man rudely took our orders as if we were a burden on him. His rude behavior was a part of every aspect of our "dining" experience. To say that he was rude would be an understatement. He was in our faces, impatient, insulting in order receipts, and his sour attitude permeated throughout the cafe like a dark cloud of toxic customer service - killing the chances of me, and perhaps many of the customers, of coming back. It was painful to sit here after we ordered our food. However, I'm sure his managerial "style" will prove to bring much more pain to this "establishment's" existence. I think I have made my point clear. I only hope that he treats the new, incredibly kind employees, with much more respect. They certainly deserve it. Fresh Farms: Reaping Crops of Dissatisfaction.

Disappointed. Ordered breakfast sandwich on rye. Nothing special. Cheese barely melted and bread hardly toasted.

Very good and healthy place! Really affordable and kids like it. Great salads, wrap and tasty! Place is peacefull, quite, not fancy at all and service is very polite too. An address we go quite often.
