All in all it's an okay BBQ. Brisket was nice. Nice smoke flavor. BBQ ribs are very spicy but not a lot of meat. Mac and cheese is not special. Green beans and bacon are good. Buns are basically toasted hamburger buns. Service Expect to be there a while to place your order. I was third in line and was there 35 minutes. Guy tried shorting me on the sides and had to wait until someone gave me more than half the container. I would say B- or C+. Sides could use improvement.

(*I'll definitely give these guys another go, and will update later. I'm not giving up on them yet.) I've been to this location twice, and was VERY excited, as I used to frequent Dickey's in Round Rock, TX... it was very close to my employer's location there. They were always consistently "good". As mentioned in other BBQ joint reviews, I am a huge fan of good brisket. Both times, at this location, I've been underwhelmed. I attributed the first visit to "opening jitters" and just workin' out the bugs, but when the second visit went almost exactly the same, I left disappointed. I tried not to have any pre-conceived notions about the place based on the offerings at the Texas locations, but sadly it was the reality. They have plenty of great intangibles going for them... the sweet tea, the large and open location, choice of sauces (kept warm), free ice cream, and friendly staff. The owner came to my table to see how things were. So, why the "meh" review? Simple. The "main attraction" is always the meat itself, and here is where they fall short. Not sure if the recipes, rubs, prep, etc. is different than the Texas location's, but I never got the good taste out of the brisket on either trip. I couldn't put my finger on it... it was just "passable", and nothing more. However, the taste was not my biggest complaint. It was the portion size. I usually get a "double meat plate" (there is a "three meat plate" for even heartier appetites), and I order two portions of brisket, with the obligatory two sides. At other Dickey's, two portions of brisket is about a half pound... which is almost too much for most people. At this location, I don't think they even have an idea of what their own version of a "portion" is. I saw another review where they mention the cutter using a scale. I didn't see one used here, either time. The cutter laid out one slice of brisket... then, paused for a moment, and added one more slice. Not two large slices, nor two weighed-out portions, but two ordinary, run-of-the-mill slices. If these two were weighed, I would take a guess that they weren't even close to being a quarter-pound of brisket. (I didn't question it, and I don't know why. I'm not trying to come across as a glutton, but this portion would usually be counted as a "side" at most BBQ places.) This measly serving of brisket was a "double meat plate". Uh-uh. (*One quick note... first trip, the brisket was chopped and was another small portion... second trip, it was sliced. Decide, guys.) The sides were decent. The beans were a bit overcooked, and I noticed this location leaned toward a more spicy array of baked beans, rather than the sweeter version I was used to at the Texas locations. I also ordered fried okra (a rarity in PA, but a staple in TX). They didn't have it ready, so the owner brought it to my table when it was done. It was piping hot, and tasted just right when it cooled down. Both side portions were more-than-adequate. What will bring me back? The service. Everyone in there was nice... even the confused meat cutter. I hope the portion size issue isn't a decision of management to cut back on costs. I wasn't expecting overkill, but two measly slices doesn't justify the price tag.

Bbq is ok but first bbq joint I've been to that they use a scale to weigh the meat. Really skimpy on the meat for the high price. The Mac and cheese were awful and fake. The cole slaw was cole slaw. The free "ice cream" didn't even have an ice cream consistency or taste. Pretty gross. Overall not impressed. For a chain focused on bbq at least get some real Mac and cheese for gods sake.

I'm writing this based of off my first visit and will surely update in the future. I had the Big Pulled Pork Barbecue sandwich; It was everything that I had hoped it'd be. My choice of two sides were the waffle iron fries (very similar to those from an establishment next door) and the Barbecue Beans. Both were very good. Our food was taken to go, so we didn't enjoy the ambience that is a barbecue joint, but our visit was fine. My only complaint was that the container labeled Sweet Tea was actually unsweetened. Not a deal breaker, but I love good sweet tea!

Staff was very friendly, however the amount of butt crack I witnessed was egregious. (Meat guy, the belt is supposed to keep your pants up, it's not just for decoration.) Line was to the door due to recent opening and coupons that were sent out and it moved quite slowly overall. They were out of several options. The meats were good, but the sides were all quite obviously not home made--the same mac and cheese as Wawa, fake mashed potatoes and canned everything.

This place is a little confusing. There really isn't much of a menu or direction as to where to order. By the time you get your sandwich it isn't very hot. The waffle fries are good but I think it's hard to mess those up. You give the first person your order but all he cares about is your sandwich and he'll direct to the next girl for the rest of the order. Over all you end up repeating your order a few times and most likely by the time u get it, it won't be correct. Food was pretty good and they do serve free ice cream.

Had ribs. I thought the ribs tasted as if they had been soaked in brine. The baked beans tasted like they were out of the can. The coleslaw it was good. Overall just ordinary.

Hands down the best BBQ I have ever tasted. Scott, the store owner, bent over backwards to show us a great time. We will be back - soon! .

We found this place during an outlet shopping spree in Lancaster. Surrounded by the typical chain food places, we were delighted to find this little gem. The food is really good. Since it was our first time visiting, we tried sampler platters of pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. The brisket was full of flavor, obviously smoked well and tender. The pulled pork was tender, but needed a bit of bbq sauce to balance it out. The cheddar sausage was a hit. Tasty, spicy and jucy. The place was clean, people were friendly, food was very unexpectedly good. I took away one star because the portions were a bit small. Don't leave without your free self-serve ice cream cone!

Just found this little joint not to long ago and I'm hooked. The bbq is amazing and cheap! I have been doing take out but went into the restaurant the other day and the staff was very very nice. The restaurant was kind of cold though other than that awesome

If you want the taste of really good barbecue, DIckey's is for you. If you don't feel like paying an arm, leg, and some college tuition, don't go here. As you can tell by my intro, I'm really not too crazy about Dickey's because of the price. I was warned ahead of time that this place was on the high side, but normally they give you enough for your money. Sorry about it. It's just... The portion was so small. Yes, I got two two-meat platters, sides, and two drinks for $30 and I feel a certain way about it. It was literally enough for a handful. Five or six bites and I was done. The people working there were wonderful and welcoming and explained the menu perfectly, but my mind has been tainted. 1. The meat gets weighed before they put it in your container. I was internally screaming when I saw this happen. It was such a turn-off. 2. They don't fill the sides to the top. Maybe half-way and the cups are so small. Also, wasn't into the baked beans. The fried okra was delicious, though. I was into the free ice cream, though. I would probably be a little happy if I had gotten two cones instead of one. I can see how this place would thrive somewhere up north where BBQ places aren't that common. Maybe they have some loyal customers somewhere, I don't know. The flavours were all there, but that price. I'm never gonna fault a restaurant for trying to lower their food costs. Still, I can't get over that.

Great bbq for the money. Restaurant was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. I got the brisket sandwich. Delicious! As were the jalepeno beans. I wish I had one of these close to my house.

Stumbled upon the Dickeys chain in the Poconos and was excited to see this location. This is real southern bbq-sauce on the side. The turkey is my favorite it is so moist. Reasonable price. Casual atmosphere and free ice cream cone. What more could you want? A location in jersey!

I have been to Dickey's as an individual customer and have used their catering for a business event this week. I have been beyond satisfied. I really, really enjoyed their food. Given that Dickey's has just opened and is a franchise, I am, perhaps, a little more understanding than previous reviewers here. The restaurant space is not very big but the tables are arranged nicely with space between them. The feeling is rustic and homey and it was very clean. The food line starts right where you walk in the door. It wasn't super fast but I wasn't waiting for a long time either. The staff was very friendly and appropriately dressed. (No crack while I was there, Erin!) While dining in, I had the Three Meat Plate so I could taste as much as possible. I had the polish sausage, the pulled pork and the chopped brisket. The brisket was my favorite. It had an evident smoke ring on the meat and was soft and fatty enough to be extremely delicious. The pulled pork was also excellent. Some of my pieces were fairly long and large but there was also the visible smoke ring and it had just the right amount of smokey flavor. The sausage was a good size and tasted good and smokey but it did not have a smoke ring. For sides I had the baked potato casserole and the green beans. I loved them both. I also enjoyed the raw onion slices and sliced pickles that came with my plate. They are very traditional and add that extra goodness to the barbecued meats. A little bit of crunch to cover all the savory bases. Less than a week later I had Dickey's cater a lunch at the office. They arrived early and set up the buffet including chafing dishes and sterno, paper plates, cutlery, napkins, three kinds of BBQ sauce, bread, pickles and onions. We had pulled pork and chopped brisket, potato salad, BBQ beans, caesar salad, and cole slaw. Everything was plentiful, fresh and EXCELLENT. The guys for whom I bought the lunch LOVED it. We had very little left over at the end of the day.

I was on a business trip to Lancaster for the weekend. I had never been to a Dickey's before and was happily surprised. When I walked in, I was cautiously optimistic that it would resemble true barbecue and I was impressed. The staff was very welcoming and offered samples of anything I would have wanted. I went in Friday night for a quick bite and had the two meat meal of chopped brisket and the spicy cheddar sausage, fried okra and the mashed potato casserole. The meat was flavorful and the sausage certainly was spicy. Frequently, I have found fried okra to be limp and moist, at Dickey's it was delicious, firm, and crunchy. Was not a fan of the potatoes, but they did have flavor. Went in the next day for lunch, not only was the food as outstanding, the cashier even recognized me! I do not get into Lancaster often, but I will return to Dickey's when I do.
