This place was disgusting and inedible. It turns my stomach thinking about it. When I bit into the chicken in my entree, I had to spit it out. The place was so dark I couldn't fully examine the food I was trying to eat - nor should I ever have to! When I got home and looked at what had been boxed for me to take home, I noticed tails on the three of my chicken pieces. Since when do chicken pieces have tails?! I don't know if this was their idea of a sick joke, but I am not laughing in the least!

Seven people went for dinner. Great service and food. Nice ambience. Had 3 different pizzas. All good. Nice size portions! The Vitelle Milanese (breaded veal) was very good with arugula salad and Parmesan cheese. The Ricotta cheese ravioli were excellent! The Pasta Faggiole soup was very good too. Two people agreed! The home made mouse cake was terrific.

I wanted to like this place soo bad but I was really disappointed by the food. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant and also, how they're BYOB at the moment & the server said they're working on the liquor license. It's a very casual but still very nice restaurant with white table cloth service which was very impressive. But honestly, the quality of food did not match up to the price as well as the my expectation of an Italian restaurant like this. I remember having veal parmesan, it wasn't what I expected; it was honestly like 2.5-3/5 and especially for the price you pay for... They could've made the dish a little more appealing and presentable... My friend and I also had beef carpaccio which was whatever, and I had better for the same price.. but I admit that their fried calamari was the only highlight of the meal that day. Service 5/5 Food 2.5-3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Would definitely come back if they improve on quality of the food!

We went to this new restaurant 3 weeks after it opened. We liked the ambiance and white table cloth service. I ordered the red pepper soup which was very good. I also had the avocado stuffed with shrimp which was excellent. One of my sisters enjoyed the Rissoto. My other sister had the Lasagna which was extremely disappointing. It was salty and tasteless which if she wasn't hungry, she would not have eaten. Even if the price had been under $10 vs $18 - it would still not have been acceptable. She regretted not sending it back - which is not her style.

My boyfriend and I dined at marzanos last night with another couple for the first time last night. From the moment we walked in to when we were paying our bill our experience was beyond excellent. Our server was awesome, extremely attentive, we never had to ask for anything because it was already taken care of. Our water glasses were never empty. We started with three appetizers the calamari, antipasto marzano, and mozzarella and tomatoes. They were all amazing. For dinner we all ordered different entrees I had the ravioli they were perfect. After dinner our server noticed that my friends boyfriend did not finish his entree. He sent the manager over to personally make sure everything was okay with his dinner. He has ordered the short rib special but was just too full to finish it! The manager cut it up and had to put a long roll to take home for lunch tomorrow. Marzanos exceeded our expectations in every si for way possible. This is a great place!

I'd actually give this a 3.5, but since Yelp doesn't allow half stars (grrr), I'll give it a 3, since I don't think it's quite a 4. My husband, one-year-old son, and I ended up here when the restaurant we'd planned to go to was unexpectedly closed, and we were pleasantly surprised. We came in through the entrance off the piazza, which leads to a foyer/hostess desk. The decor in this part of the restaurant looks a bit cheesy and dated, so initially we had slight reservations about eating here (there are random semi-private rooms on either side, and it's kind of weird). But as soon as we walked into the main dining room, we relaxed. The interior design is lovely and tasteful, so don't be put off by the strange entrance. As for the food, as I say, we were pleasantly surprised. The octopus salad special was delicious -- the octopus was succulent and tender, and the accompanying arugula salad was lightly dressed and fresh. It was also quite large. My only complaint is that it was $18, something we hadn't realized. I probably still would have ordered it -- and knowing now how good and plentiful it was, I'd probably still order it again -- but it was far more expensive than the other salads. We also ordered the arancini -- very good, albeit enormous (i.e. the size of a baseball). The house salad was your standard house salad: solid balsamic dressing, mixed greens, cucumber, onion, and those bland, anemic tomatoes that restaurants must buy in bulk because apparently there's a rule written somewhere that salads have to contain tomatoes. I mean...it's tomato season. Surely you can find a ripe tomato somewhere. But I digress. Finally, we ordered a Marzano pizza, which is a white pizza topped with mushrooms, goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, arugula and truffle oil. It was good. Not the best pizza I've ever had, but definitely passable. Our service was great -- lovely, friendly waitress and staff. All in all, I'd say this would be a great place to grab a bite before or after a movie at the Hiway and is definitely a good, family-friendly addition to the neighborhood. I'll be back with my family for sure.

Great recommendation for the risotto by the server. Nice atmosphere. Only drawback is byob. If you are out of town, not to obvious. Traditional northern Italian food prepared well. Service left a lot to be desired.

Food is so good! Staff is very attentive and that added to our families enjoyment. This place may become our new Sunday afternoon dining spot.

If you like iceberg lettuce Caesar's Salad without anchovies, overcooked pasta out of a box and overcooked, mushy risotto this is the place for you. First time there it wasn't bad. Second time, not again.

Great food, great service, and not the heavy garlic seasoning that sometimes expect with Italian food. Wonderful, light flavors. A little pricier than say a Buca di Beppo - but well worth it. Lastly, the kids can still get a plate of pasta at a reasonable price.

Dinner tonight was our third visit to Marzano Ristorante. Our Server Samantha G. Was knowledgable about the menu, enthusiastic about the restaurant and offered impeccable service. Restaurants worth their salt pay attention to details.... These folks get the details right every time. The manager is from Tunisia and makes you feel like a member of his family...the chef came out and knew what we ordered and discussed the ingredients... The busboy... Sumner was confident and efficient. Jenkintown has been waiting for this... We pass no less than 10 restaurants on our way, worth every mile. Have the octopus and don't miss the homemade cheesecake. And how else can you tell that a restaurant is worth their salt? There is no salt on the table... Seasoning happens in the kitchen. Tell Medi that Sumner sent you.

Took the family last night, the food was terrific. The woodfire margarita pizza was very authentic and the pasta dishes (especially the rigatoni bolenese) were outstanding. A great addition to the local restaurant scene.

This place was great! Fast service and yummy food. We ate outside and it was lovely. Come here!! We had beet salad, clams, a burger, and a meat and cheese plate. All very delicious.

I had lunch at Marzano's in Jenkintown. Food was delicious, and service was prompt and attentive. Visually, the room is beautiful Soft lighting and dark wood furniture. I'd go back in a heartbeat. The options below don't list it, but the restaurant opens onto the municipal parking lot in Jenkintown. A real plus because parking on the street can be limited.

Best fried calamari I ever had, not kidding. Lightly deep fried and tender. Wide round rings of succulent crispy calamari served with a marinara sauce and a sweet and sour sauce. I practically order calamari whenever I see it on a menu, often times, it is not worth eating. However, I can't wait to go back to Marzano's for another serving.

Marzano's is a truly welcoming and homely Italian restaurant. When it comes to Italian restaurants, there always seems to be a certain atmosphere and vibe that makes the meal an experience. Marzano's has it, and you won't be disappointed. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating (shout out to Sara, the hostess who gave me a quarter from her purse when I realized I didn't have any singles to break). I ordered a special dish, which featured a thick piece of halibut topped with a tomato pesto sauce, on a bed of broccoli rabe. Absolutely to die for, in a few words. It was cooked perfectly, the sauce was delicious, and the broccoli was flavorful and complimented the dish wonderfully. It's also worth noting that my table of 5 other business associates ordered appetizers and desserts that ALL had me regretting my failure to indulge. Eggplant, salads, cannoli... They made my mouth water. Needless to say, This is a fantastic restaurant in a beautiful part of town, and will be great to have on deck for any occasion!

My wife and I went for lunch, had pizza and salads. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere well done, and great service. This is one of a few new restaurants in the area who actually got it all right--food, ambiance, and service. We'll be back.

This place recently opened in lovely Jenkintown and we were excited to check it out. We went for dinner tonight and I was impressed with the whole experience. The decor is open, spacious and cool. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She made some great recommendations. She even brought samples. She informed us about the brick oven thin crust pizza. So we had to try it. We ordered the margueritta and the caprese pizzas. I also ordered the Mediterranean salad. Wow! Everything was spot on! The pizza was fresh and light and tasty. The salad was perfect. And then we had to try the dessert. Apparently the tiramisu is homemade. It was the best I ever had! And we also ordered the chocolate moose cheese cake which was also delicious. I just have to welcome Marzano to Jenkintown. I hope you stay.

I went to here on a Monday afternoon at around 4:00PM. There was one couple dining outside but not one customer inside. Right there I thought a mistake was made. Upon walking into the restaurant it appeared new, clean, and sleek. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess at the front door and immediately helped by our server dressed in all black. She was prompt, kind, and attentive. I ordered the bolognaise while others ordered the gnocchi, mushroom risotto, various pastas dishes, etc. We received our orders in a timely fashion. My dish was a large portion for under $20. It was flavorful and fresh. I also tasted the gnocchi and it was cooked to my liking. We did not order appetizers or desserts but I'll definitely be back to check them out. Overall it was a nice dining experience at a reasonable rate. There are options for children on the menu but this place might be out the league for some 5-10 year olds. Under 5 can have simple pasta dishes while those over 10 have plenty of adult options. Depends on the child. Gluten free items are also on the menu. I'm unsure about the clothing attire due to the lack of customers but I would say pants and at least a polo for men if not a button down. No booze is a huge drawback as I was unaware but they apparently have BYOB. I'll make sure I bring a bottle on my next visit! FYI: Decent sized parking lot in the rear.

Terrible experience at Marzano's tonight. The restaurant was SO LOUD and NOISY that you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. Food - NOT worth the prices charged. Service - took 2.5 HOURS to get in and out - which was ridiculous. Overall - I would NOT recommend going there to anyone.

My husband and I were part of a party of six for dinner at Marzano, and my rating would be much higher were I only rating the food. But ambiance is also part of what makes a meal wonderful or awful or something in between. In this case I want to be specific and clear: The food was very, very good! But this was one of the noisiest restaurants I've experienced. Now, loud is, for some, a good thing. It can be interpreted as exciting, energetic, fun. Or--as in my case--it can be annoying, painful, disorienting. All six of us expressed some degree of concern about the deafening decibel level at Marzano, and four of us agreed we would not return because of it. If you like loud restaurants, then please try this one--and I mean that seriously, because the food was very good. I had a split avocado filled with a very elegant crab ceviche as an appetizer--just delightful! My companions enjoyed mussels in a very good, light tomato sauce, calamari (I'm not a fan, but my friend is and said it was great), a nice minestone and some big, fresh salads. all good! Our entrees included a special of orecchiette with shrimp, garden-fresh cherry tomatoes and broccoli rabe in a light olive oil/white wine sauce; risotta with an abundant mixture of seafood, rigatoni with Fra Daivolo and lasagna. No one at our table had anything to say but positives about their meals...or, possibly, I simply *could not hear* any negatives. It was that loud, what I think of "smile and nod" loud, where, after the meal, when you finally escape and walk outside, your ears still ringing, you wonder what you just agreed to while smiling and nodding. One final negative--if, like me, you are lactose intolerant, there will be no dessert for you...but how often is there? All the desserts here are cream-based. Now, why a restaurant cannot put some luscious cake under fresh fruit with the option of refusing whipped cream I do not understand. Perhaps this is a cultural thing and most Americans just want dairy-rich desserts, I do not know. Nor will I fault Mazano on this score because--as a majorly lactose intolerant girl--there rarely *is* dessert for me unless I am at home. So, in summary: very good food that could cross that fine line into *great* food, if you could enjoy your meal without the headache of loud, deafening, relentless, my-ears-still-ring-an-hour-later noise. If that will not bother you, go! If it will bother you, also go, but go on a warm summer evening and insist on a table outside. Yeah, it will overlook a parking lot. And yet, you will be able to hear what your friends say, and not be reduced to smiling and nodding aimlessly...and agreeing to, who knows what.

Great food, nice ambiance. We all enjoyed the different dishes ordered. All pizzas made with REAL fresh mozzarella. Great fish. Big portions. The eggplant pizza very good and special. They are waiting for their alcohol license. In the meanwhile don't forget to BYO. No good Italian food should be eaten without a glass of wine... but then again... I'm visiting from California, where all restaurants have a large wine list. They did a great job making it feel comfortable while looking pretty fancy. Oh, can't forget the incredible real wood brick oven that made the pizza taste quite awesome. They opened about three months ago and they are working hard to make it wonderful. I wholeheartedly recommend it for any occasion.

My friends and I tried this for dinner tonight. Service was stellar. Its been a long time since I've found an actual good Italian restaurant. Their calamari was absolutely phenomenal with one of the best sauces I've ever had. I ordered the risotto frutti de mare and hands down one of the most juicy, succulent dishes I've tasted. I sampled some of my friend's dishes too - which were surprisingly great too. Is the chef single? Because after this meal, my single female friends would like to marry him.

Friday night at 6:45 we walked into Marzano Ristorante with a 6 pack of cold Bells Two Hearted Ale, we were seated right away. Walking through the new restaurant we were struck by how nice the ambiance was, cool light fixtures and paintings all around, it was also very comfortable. We sat by the window and ordered 4 appetizers. We got, the grilled octopus salad, the scallops, the fried calamari and the small cheese and cured meat plate. We were very impressed with all 4! We had a great waiter who was very attentive and still have us our privacy, the best kind :) I read in a previous review that the sound level was deafening, I am not sure if perhaps a bunch of rock stars were eating there that night, the sound level was quite low, and pleasant. We can't wait to go back and share a bottle of wine and more apps, I wanted to try everything on the menu, and luckily this restaurant is a stones throw away so I can!

Finally got around to trying this new restaurant in Jenkintown. We've pretty much tried all the places in this area, and this had to be one of our more disappointed places in a while. I've read the rave reviews and cannot discount them. Perhaps it was an off night at the restaurant, but 1st impressions are lasting. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated on time. Having had Carpaccio many times before and enjoying it, my Wife and decided to try theirs. When the runner brought it over, I thought it was a house salad before I realized it was just a large pile of Arugula on top. A bit much on this app. The first thing we noticed was that it was dry, as in no noticeable olive oil, balsamic vinegar, maybe a little lemon juice (all variations we've had before). When we tried to use our fork to get slices, it was impossible. We actually had to SCRAPE the bottom of the cold plate with our fork and knife to pry it off. That's where I think the olive oil could've helped it from sticking. As we got towards the center, it was colder and then frozen! I grabbed it with my fingers and it was very frozen. We told the waiter it was not acceptable and he said he would send the Mgr over. He came over, apologized and offered to bring us another after trying to explain how it's made. We declined as I thought how different could it be. It had zero flavor whatsoever. He said he would take it off the bill. I ordered the $24 Veal Saltimbucca. If I pay that much and only get 2 medallions of veal, it better be tender enough to cut with my fork. Well, it was not! The sauce tasted fine, but cutting with my butter knife is unacceptable at that price. We finished our meal, the waiter apologized again and when he brought our bill, he said I guess the Mgr spoke to you and discounted your appetizer. I thought discounted? When I looked at the bill, he charged us for 1/2 the app ($6.50 instead of $13)! Are you kidding me? Sorry it took until we got closer to the center before we realized it was frozen. So, if we had accepted his offer for another, would we have been charged for 1 1/2 app's? Never heard of such a thing. Hopefully, they work out some kinks, but until then we will stick with Mirna's just down the block. One last thing, it is a BYOB even though it says full bar under alcohol, but we knew that.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
