The Drake is a great pub, with awesome food! I've been a few times for lunch. The soups are excellent- especially the chili. In addition, their sandwiches are VERY good as well, specifically the burgers. I am not a huge beer fan, but they do have a great selection that is always updated. I would certainly recommend the Drake as a spot for lunch, happy hour or just a night out watching the game. Looking forward to returning!

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews about the Drake. Have been here a number of times over the years and never had an issue with the food or service. Tonight, I ordered the sesame tuna (rare), wasabi mashed potatoes, and fried spinach. It was excellent! Our waitress Gianna was friendly and attentive. My friends had the chili and both really enjoyed it. Hope to return in the future.

Service has been fairly pleasant, at least in the outdoor area, although sometimes you have to wait a while for a check and wait again to hunt the server down to pay, which is annoying, mainly due to the fact that: HORRIBLE MUSIC is BLASTED, even in the outdoor patio area, and they claim they cannot change it, which is not possible, because we have been there when the music was OFF. Tables are wobbly, so be prepared to shove a wad of paper napkins under a leg or two. Last time we were there, we both got DIRTY PLATES handed to us by a server for the purpose of sharing our appetizer. Not a good sign for how the place is run/managed. Seems to be on a downward trend in terms of overall experience.

I have to agree with Brian H. While I really loved the inside of the bar the burger was "just ok." They had a decent bottle selection and a few drafts. There were (2) bartenders and one of them was nice and the other just walked back and forth and didn't make eye contact. The bar top was very sticky. This doesn't bother me but I know some people would not be happy. I would stop in again to grab a few beers but I don't understand how they claim to be one of the best burger spots around.

The owner of the Drake must be making money hand over fist: He has the audacity to charge $13.99 for a salad consisting of rotten baby greens, 4 freezer-burnt shrimp, 4 pencil-thin asparagus spears, 4 grape tomato halves (including one that was rotten) and half of an over-ripe, bruised avocado. When the issues were brought to the kitchen's attention, the response was the shrimp did not come out of their freezer. Really? Virtually all shrimp north of the Mason-Dixon Line have been frozen. Just because you did not personally defrost them does not mean they were swimming in Georgia's coastal waters yesterday. Indeed, they likely came from Asia, where about 90% of shrimp are harvested. And it should never be the customer's job to sort the edible lettuce leaves from the black and decayed ones. Yuck! Service here was terrible from the get. The maître' d was nowhere to be found, and we waited ten minutes before she appeared and seated us in the half-empty patio. Meanwhile our server, Jess M. was more interested in socializing with her bespectacled, brunette girl friend/hipster loitering at the next table than doing her job. Later, I was horrified to see Jess M bussing tables while clutching my credit card. Nobody wants to see their credit card circulate around a room. To add insult to injury, Jess's obviously demented, pissant friend took it upon herself to hurl epithets in our direction as we departed. We should have heeded the advice in recent Yelp reviews and continued our northward drive on Old York Road, bypassing this awful meal and incredibly dreadful service. We were fooled by the Drake's appealing exterior and inviting patio. Save yourself the trouble and go to Vintage, whose food, service and bar offerings never disappoint.

What happened? I grew up with the Drake being THE place to be. Captain Morgan burger. Favorite burger. Hands down. I would rave about it. Bring friends. Tell others. You name it. After last night's visit, however, the free marketing will stop, and so will my visits unless changes are made. What was once a GREAT burger, is now a shadow of its former self. It was overcooked, dry, and the bun was stale. Now I wouldn't say anything if this had been a one time occurrence, but this was the second visit in a row where the burger turned out this way. #disappointed To top things off, the service is also no longer what it used to be. It's awful. It's almost as if waiting on patrons is a bother. So to the owners (Bobby and team), you've made tremendous progress over the years with your restaurants (we know what they are), but get back to focusing on quality, not quantity. Instead of painting the Drake what seems to be every year or buying new TVs or upgrading the deck, etc.--focus on the food. The profits margins may not be as great with food as they are with alcohol, but sooner or later, you won't have any patrons to serve if improvements aren't made. Hoping for the best. The Drake is too important to Jenkintown---my hometown---to fail.

Came here with my sister. We both had a burger (ask for fries). The Burger was ok... As good as a bar burger can get I guess. The drinks were strong. Good place to hang out with friends. I like that the brand their burger buns.

This was one of the worst burger joints I have been to in a long time. Let's start off with the fact that it took more than 15 minutes for anyone to at least greet us. Another 8 minutes to get a beer menu as they delivered 2 waters to the table of THREE people..guess we have to share one water ? Menus were gross to look at let alone touch. They were sticking together page after page, falling apart and in some corners moldy! Yes MOLD. Looks like they leave the menus out in the rain...yuck Ordered two beers and decided to order our app and meal all at the same time since service stated off poor to begin with. Ordered dirty chips, came with no plates to share and was drenched in blue cheese dressing, not blue cheese itself! Had to ask for a glass for the beer and for plates. NO glass came had to go to the bar and dishes for app were grossly dirty. Waitress could have cared less. Dinner was horrible. Ordered two burgers, both came out with stale buns, and salad was watered down to the point that then the waitress came to take the plate the water spilled all over the table. Not only did we wait forever to order, get drinks but waited to get our bill. Then the waitress gives me the tab with no sleeve so I can put the money in? Yet she told us everything blows away on the patio...so why no money/credit card sleeves? Left the money and tab under the dirty ketchup bottle and bolted. Wish we could have voiced our opinions then but no responsible manager was present.

6/7/15 dinner on patio Sat at our table for 18 min before our server could be bothered to come over. 25+ minutes until I had a drink in my hand. Bottled beer, no glass offered. Weak apology from server. Table ordered the dirty chips app, which was brought out with no plates. When asked, our server furnished filthy plates with ketchup and cheese on them. Weak apology from server. Main courses... Thai Chicken Salad - Lettuce on salad was soaking wet (at least they washed something) which watered down the thai sauce and dressing. Burgers - OK, aside from the stale buns. Mentioned this to staff, received weak apology. To say their kitchen turns out the "best" anything likely means said person had suffered some sort of prior trauma to their tastebuds. Server never checked to see if our food was ok until we were done, never refilled our drinks. Absolute joke

I've been to this place many times. I don't live in the neighborhood, so it is a drive. I am giving it 3 stars for ambiance, service and an overall good vibe. However, the food has gone downhill. Had lunch there last Friday and unfortunately they no longer serve the turkey croquettes w/mashed potatoes that I used to love, but I have also had their fish and chips on a few occasions and enjoyed them. I was very disappointed this visit. First of all...why don't they serve Guinness?? Oh well. Anyway...I ordered the Fish & Chips and it it took longer than I would have expected, but when it arrived it was unappetizing looking. The fried fish looked orange in color (not golden) and was orange all the way through the batter. Upon trying it, the batter was thick and doughy (not thoroughly cooked) and it was hard to find the fish inside...also the fries (chips) were not crispy and were really nothing special. Mind you...they are charging like $18.00 for this (fried fish and fries). The server could see that I had picked all of the dough (uncooked batter) off and tried to eat the fish but, to his credit, took the meal off my bill even though I told him emphatically it was unnecessary. I am bummed because I have had some good times there having some drinks with friends, playing the juke and eating some decent food.

Started out well 8 years ago but the pub food seems to have taken a downturn of late. 3 poor quality orders in a row over a period of a year. I was somewhat embarrassed when my colleagues looked somewhat green after tucking into their orders as well. After sampling the monte "crisco" I could see why. T Boone Pickens could sink an oil well in that sandwich and make a considerable profit. Something amiss here particularly given the owner runs a high quality establishment about a mile and a half up the road and I'm constantly impressed at the quality over there. Let's get back in the saddle folks, you've a stellar business owner.

Mediocre food, grubby setting and uneven service - I did not find much to recommend the Drake. I think of a tavern as some place warm, cozy and inviting even if it's a bit scruffy around the edges and this place is not. It's dark and murky inside but not in a good way, the tables are too close to each other and the whole place just felt cramped and like it needed a complete makeover or at least a good mopping. We got the "traditional" burger and sides of fries and both were basically tasteless. The fries were not actively bad but they weren't good either - fried hulls encasing basically air and very light because there was nothing to them. I had to drown them in catsup to try to make them taste like something. It didn't work, all I could taste was catsup. The burger was also nothing special. It had cheap looking/tasting American cheese - the kind that doesn't really melt well and looks like a crumpled piece of paper. The bun was stale. The one lettuce leaf, single tomato slice, couple of slices of red onion, tiny cup of cole slaw and 3 pickles chips were reasonably attractive and fresh but so thin and not nearly substantial enough to effectively garnish the burger (which desperately needed something to make it taste like anything). I might have asked for extras but service wasn't great either - our waitress seemed to stop by when she was conveniently walking past but not at the strategic times you should check a table i.e. after the food is delivered to see if everything is ok. She was very nice but she also forgot to bring things we asked for like water. Usually when I'm at a restaurant I see other dishes going by and think at least some of them look really good and wished I ordered them but here I didn't think anything except "ug, I'm glad I didn't order that". Apparently this place is on some list for having some of the best burgers around but either we hit an off night or it's a marketing ploy because our meal was definitely nothing special.

I'm currently doing a beef fast and all I can think about is eating a Drake's burger. I haven't had one in over a year but I still remember the taste. The bread, the beef and the fries. UGH!! I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stopped in here for a few beers the other night with a friend who lives in the area. It's an Irish Pub, which automatically gives it 5 stars in my book, but the music is way too loud and the stuff that was playing was all over the board - so I had to listen to crappy rap/house music along with some classic rock and everything else. Turns out it's the jukebox playing whatever random crap it chose. If they turned that crap down and replaced it with some good Irish music, that would make this place. The Guinness isn't necessarily poured properly here, but they do pour it with a clover on the head which was cool. Parking is also a bit on the sparse side, but it doesn't help that folks around this area seem to be challenged fitting their cars between those two parking spot lines that seem to be there solely for decoration purposes.

The Drake's a good spot. Went here for quizzo before and they offered drink specials in addition to Pinnacle reps walking around offering free shots. I don't think I've ever ate here but I've always heard good things about the food from friends. They offer daily drink specials and monthly food specials which I thought was pretty awesome. You can sit in the bar area or in the other room at a more formal area. Have yet to go here on a weekend night but I plan to in the future.

I went here on a Friday night and there was a good mix of types of people here, which I like (families, young people, adults, etc.). Staff is friendly and accommodating, service was speed appropriate (not too fast like your food was under a lamp, but not so slow that I'd finished all the sugar packets on the table). What I liked MOST about Drake's Tavern was their fall menu specials. The percentage of things that I'd order on that specials menu was fairly high- not that I wouldn't order something from the regular menu, but it just makes me want to go back during different seasons and see what else they may have to offer. I had what seemed like an entire Thanksgiving dinner on a challah roll, and my husband had a tasty burger. I'd order either/both of these again, no doubt. What I liked LEAST about Drake's Tavern, and what ultimately cost them the 5th star, was their dessert menu. I really like a dessert at the end of the week, and while they had a number of choices, nothing stood out. We ordered a baked apple sundae sorta thing, but all the apples looked ancient, like they'd been dying a slow, frigid death in a freezer somewhere, and then had mounds of ice cream slapped over them to hide their appearance. I'd go back again, but may venture across the street next time to the Baskin Robbins for dessert.

Ode to The Drake-A Haiku drinking fun outside crazy sauce burger damn good douche bag level high Pros- I like their burgers a lot. You can have them made up in chicken, veggie patty, turkey, and I think buffalo too. Decent $2 bloody mary on Sundays. Cons- Music does tend to be too loud and douchey. Non-beer special prices seem high. Any food, non burger related, has sucked. I've had some very enjoyable nights drinking on the patio with a friend, but it does have a bit more of a "grown up frat boy hang out" than I usually like.

Compared to the other local bars in the area, Drake is at the top of my list. There are plenty of tv's, a good amount of space but it still feels cozy, and menu kind of has something for everyone. Last time I was there I got some kind of burger with cheddar/bacon/ranch that was cooked medium rare to perfection, and a Yeungling. The person I was with got some kind of plate with sausages and spaetzle and gravy and he said it was delicious as well. Because I mean, hello, this is an Irish sports bar in the suburbs of Philly...if you came looking for delicious seared tuna and specialty craft beers you came to the wrong place and I'm not surprised you were disappointed. It does a great job doing what it should do: slinging beers and making pub food, and that's why I like it.

Pretty decent spot for the area, nice beer selection, food selection seemed nice but I didn't try anything. Having absolutely fabulous company helped, but otherwise this place is just alright. Biggest downer is the absolutely deafening sound system...not sure if it is like that all the time, but when I was here (Friday night) it was just way, way too loud. Like dance club loud...only nobody is dancing, just sitting and trying to have a conversation. I saw more than one group of people come in, yell at eachother for a minute, and then leave. I mean, as much fun as this exchange can be: "Its good to see you!" "You bought an emu?" It isn't how things should go. After a while they turned on the "club" lights, making it even more obnoxious and out of place. Service was friendly (if a bit slow), and prices weren't bad. I can't say I'm in a big hurry to go back, as it was rather draining. It is a nice, clean place, but they need to correct a few mistakes for it to be the go-to spot in the area.

We're at the Drake 6:00 Saturday evening. Granted not a great time to get a table quick. We were told twenty minute wait. There were empty tables! The hostes even let two men sit at one of the empty tables while they waited for their turn for a table!! Then we were finally seated at a table that was empty for the 35 minutes we actually waited. When I said something to the hostess she mumbled something about being a busy night. I complained to the owner/manager who said 'thank you' to me and then walked away! That said, our server was great and the food is good but we will think twice about going back.

Food is good, most of the time. Service is spotty. I don't think its the servers fault, the place is perpetually packed. It must be hell to work there. The burgers area safe bet. Avoid the place during sporting events if you have trouble with extreme crowds.

I went here last night with a group of 6 women after a movie. This is not my first experinece with this place, I have eaten/drank here countless time. The place seems to keep improving physically while service/drinks degrade in quality. We chose this place instead of Buckets because we thought it would be better but now I am not so sure. First off, the place was NOT packed but it took a good 5 min. before out server greeted us. She took our orders and returned a good 5-10 min. later to serve only part of our order and to tell us that they were out of one of the wines and there were no olives for the dirty martini. My vodka tonic was so weak I am pretty sure there was no alcohol in it. A comment on the service: all the waitstaff were dressed pretty unflatteringly for their body types, hair was a mess, make-up caked on. Lets just clean it up a smidge. Also, they could have reallly seen an opportunity in serving us faster/suggesting more drinks and made a good tab but didn't. We were there for 2 hours and everyone got only 1 drink each and we had 3 apps.. pretty paltry.

The burger with Asian-ness -- I'm talking sesame flavor, Kobe beef, a cooked shrimp and a side of seaweed salad -- was satisfying on many levels. Good beer selection obviously, but also a bajillion flat screens and a vocal and cheerful crowd ro watch the Phils. Quality eats, quality place. Would return, would recommend.

I want to like this place because it is the local tavern - very convenient if I want a quick no frills bite. I have been consistently disappointed lately for a number of reasons. For one, the staff is not friendly if you are not a "regular". I don't go to bars and just sit. I'll go for a meal, but I don't hang there. When I go there, I feel like a stranger who just rolled up in someone's house uninvited and interrupted a convo. The servers barely acknowledge you when you walk in. The waitresses (yes all the servers are women) are all really young (like barely 19) and they all dress like they came out of the Hooters school of waitressing. I just can't stand seeing young women dressed to pander to local oversexed, overaged and over drunken men. Next is the food. The menu LOOKS good, but the food isn't all that great. For example, the dirty chips (which claim to be kettle cooked chips) are more like like Lays potato chips topped with melted cheese. The tuna melt was a major disappointment with a bag of (Lays) chips on the side. The fish and chips dish is so greasy its almost inedible. Burgers are pretty good and probably the best thing on the menu. Someone else said the food is a notch above cafeteria food and I can't disagree. Bottom line, this place good be so much more with a better trained staff, more attention to detail and food that lives up to the description on the menu.

I used to think this place was over-priced, but I hadn't had the burger. Wow! So good! You have to try them. Nice place in the Jenkintown area.

This is one of the best local pubs to grab a burger and a beer in the Jenkintown area. The waitstaff are usually quite attentive (and attractive), despite lots of customers. The pub food is great. We've tried a few of the many items on the menu (e.g. Roast turkey sandwich, buffalo chicken wrap, French dip, and Mediterranean Salad). But I would say, if you want good quality, stick to pub food basics like burgers and fries at The Drake. While it's often crowded, the hostesses are very good at seating people quickly. My only complaints are that the music for the bar scene can make dinner conversation difficult, and that when it's crowded, it can get really tight in there. But the positives definitely outweigh the negatives and I would recommend The Drake to anyone in the Jenkintown area.

Love the outdoor seating. The burger was the best I've ever had. I will be a regular. Service was good, beer didn't have a skunky taste and the fries were good.

We just tried this out for a Saturday lunch. Really nice selection of interesting burgers and sandwiches. They'll even do any of their burgers with a veggie burger instead. I found plenty of things on the menu I'd like to come back for (including all you can eat mussels night on Monday for $10.99 or a crabcake special on Tuesdays). My guy's burger was a bit greasier than intended and well undercooked from what he ordered. But the service was very good, my lunch was spot-on, and it was a cool, comfortable place to hang out. Screens throughout the tavern tuned to sports, pics on the walls of rock stars and sports stars and plenty of neon beer signs. It's like hanging out in your friend's basement only with lots of windows. :) The staff were having a real blast. They all seemed to really enjoy working there.

My friend and I knew we were in for a good time at Drake's Tavern when, as we walked up to the front door, the tune that just started playing was Europe's The Final Countdown. We timed our entrance to the tunes catchy keyboard intro. Da-duh-da-da....duh-duh-duh-da-da. As soon as the drums kicked in, we kicked in the front door and went in playing our dual air guitars. All the twentysomethings in there (we're in our 40's) pretended they didn't see us as we sheepishly slunked to the bar. "Two buds" is all we muttered for the next ten minutes as we tried to compose ourselves. Although my friend and I are two goofballs, the Drake is actually goofball friendly. Good food and a nice beer selection make this a nice stop before or after seeing a flick at the Hi-Way Theatre in downtown Jenkintown. It's also a great place to make a grand entrance. I'm hoping a Billy Squier tune is playing next time I stroll up to the front door.

I dont go here to eat, since there is not much vegetarian stuff on the menu. However, I go here to hang out with friends and watch a game. They all like what they eat!! The service is consistently good. Staff are attentive. Oh, I did try the mozarella sticks...they are ok. If I have to eat something, i just get the icecream. They have only two flavors (chocolate and vanilla). I get half of each flavor. Gets really crowded on Friday nights as expected. This is a favored place for the locals in Jenkintown.

I am a fan of the Irish and mostly because I am one. I search out the local Irish pubs whenever I visit a town. This weekend I located Drake's Tavern and I can say these folks get four stars. Four not five but for one tiny reason, the restrooms could use a little work but mind that this is an Irish pub. The food was well prepared and in well stocked amounts. The service was quick and mighty. I hadn't even warmed my chair when all of a sudden I was asked what I would like to drink. Once my drinks arrived, less than five minutes passed, that I was given the full monty on the menu and all the specials. My waitress also warned me off one choice because these were running low and she mentioned the old line, "bottom of the barrel." The atmosphere was cozy, comfortable and a little college in tone but in a good way. Get this place a try ... and host a perfectly poured Guinness for me!

Great service and clean enough. The food is better than most bars and I am more inclined to call this place a family restaurant. I can easily take my girlfriend there to relax and have a meal with a few beers. I would go back but Buckets around the corner just feels more comfortable for me. This may be based just on my own personal preference though.

I walk in to the Drake last night, and it was PACKED I mean wall to wall with people waiting at the door, Flyers in the Stanly cup! I had called ahead and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad, a Crabcake Salad and Chicken fingers with green beans for my 3 yr old. I squeezed through the crowd and made it to the bar, almost immediately the bar tender acknowledged me and when I told him I was looking for a certain waitress, I had a feeling it would be 20 minutes in all chaos for him to find her. She came out within 3 minutes food in hand, I paid and got outta there quick. I had to pick up a few things before I went home to eat and I just knew my salad would be a wilted hot mess. I was so wrong! I pulled out my salad and everything was separated for me! The chicken strip was in its own box, and even the wing sauce was separate so NOTHING gt soggy. So so yummy, and so so thoughtful even in the madness that I am sure was the kitchen on such a packed night. All our food was great, Love the Drake and will go back again very soon.

Lots of good and bad with this place....usually lots of girls here which is obviously good....is a cool place when its warm out because if your VERY LUCKY you can sit outside to drink and eat......but the prices are kinda high...5 AND SOME CHANGE for an amstel light and 10 dollars for a turkey club i think is alot for a bar...also gets jam packed frequently which is ok sometimes too but the bar is too small to get your drink it only sits like 12 people

Everything is relative. For this area this place is great. Usually filled with people. Great for watching the big game. Food is so so. There is limited parking. Most watering holes in this area are fairly dark and gloomy. This place has energy and is upbeat. People are friendly. Service is good.

Very cheap drink specials! Came on thursday night and they had $3 margaritas till late night and $1 tacos! Very chill spot, they have a loud live band performing, but it was fun. They also have a separate seating area if it gets too loud. I was very happy it wasn't super crowded on thursday night especially with the drink specials they have everynight. There were students hanging around too since its pretty close to salus campus, a pretty mixed group of older folks and younger people. Waitress was also very attentive and kept coming back to check for drinks. Def will come back. I heard good things about their food, so will come back to try that menu.

I was here last night (3/10/15) with a friend. This was not my first experience, I have gone to the Drake Tavern several times over the years. A few years ago this was my go to burger spot. Not only were their burgers amazing but so was the majority of food I've ever gotten here. However, over the years my visits have become less and less frequent as the quality of their food just doesn't seem to be what it once was. Maybe it's different or maybe it's just me but there are far better places to get a burger these days than the Drake. Last night we go we both order burgers medium to med-well (even with med well the center should be pink). Let me tell you these burgers came out like hockey pucks. Just completely gross. Not only was the burger over well done but so was the toasted bun. My sister who I ran into there last night was also upset with her bourbon burger missing the bourbon.. So there it is the food is just not good anymore these days. At least not in my opinion. Last night as well our waiter was super rude. We ate and were done within an hour 6:15-7:15ish. We waited over and hour for our bill. Finally after about 40 minutes of just waiting our waiter decides to tell us that there is an issue with the printer. Seriously you wait 40 minutes to tell us this... Doesn't bother to offer us anything while we wait for our bill (even though our waters were empty since we were done dinner.) And became super rude when we would try to ask him about what was going on. Just the worst I would avoid it if I was you. Lousy service and even worse food. Strike three to the Drake I will not be back.

Burger meat was out of this world , had to throw away the stale bun that they tried to hide by toasting , very disappointed ,

There are a few experiences eating out that can ruin food of any quality (not that the food here was exemplary to start). Terrible service and worse management top that list. We had a mediocre meal further ruined by a scene caused and then worsened by the on manager. A table nearby disputed some aspect of the bill and the scene unfolded once the manager approached. Long story short, after police arrived and a commotion occurred, our meal ruined, we received no attention nor did they compensate in anyway for the awful experience of all the diners present. Clearly the customer is always right was not an idiom included in the employee handbooks. Will NEVER return!!

Extremely limited menu and slow service. Also, I got food poisoning from eating the Thai chicken salad, which is probably a result of an unsanitary kitchen and poor refrigeration. I would absolutely not return.

Drake tavern has a great menu. The burgers are tasty and the outside patio is defiantly worth the wait time. Also during the holidays its great because everyone we know goes to the drake tavern for that late night hang out. I don't mind paying for great food and good drinks. People always want something for free. If you want fries then order fries. Plain and simple I will be a long enjoyer of the Drake tavern

I don't know what the owner of drake (same owner of kitchen bar) is doing right, but he is excelling in an location where many other restaurants could only hope to be doing half as well on a given night. I have come here quite a few times over the years for drinks but not always for dinner. The restaurant/bar is always crowded and there is always a full bar especially when a game is on. Parking is mostly easy but every once in a while on a game night or something big there's no parking around which makes things difficult. The waitstaff and the servers are pretty nice but they are also fairly frazzled because the place is always full and they're busy taking orders and serving up orders. They have weekly drink specials and a wing night which should be pretty standard for a bar. So far here I've had chicken wings, salads, and burgers and they have all been pretty good. One thing that I'm not thrilled about is that fries do not come with a burger ordered you have to order it as a side. So other than that and sometimes parking being an issue this is a good place to come and just have a beer and hang out with friends if you don't mind a crowded noisy atmosphere + sports fans. I do think their food is better than just a basic hole in the wall bar.

Went here last night to see some of my Abington Peeps, we met up at the bar. Haven't been here for a bit, but I was happy to see that the service was still friendly. I did have a burger (which is probably one of the best things on their menu). My friend had the Veggie-wrap ( I tasted it) - Surprisingly very good!

I just wanted to mention that the email exchange went back and forth with EIGHT emails exchanged until finally the manager stated that he was there that night and didn't notice the food ticket times being long- that's when I stated to him I know now who you were, he was sitting at a table in front of me drinking with a friend. I told him I didn't think he was working since he was drinking and that's the last email I received until somehow I ended up on their email notification list. Funny how I was put on the email list but couldn't get a reply or a solution to my problem by them.

Service ** Not rude but inattentive and forgetful Burger * As usual I request rare and get Medium. Probably the quality of the meat does not allow for cooking Rare Kid's meal ** (I should have gotten this) Cleanliness * This is a nearby restarant in a wasteland of decent places to eat so I seem to end up here with my family on occasion. I keep thinking these glowing reviews from people in Omaha NE and Albequerque NM must know something I dont, but alas they do not. Hope they were well paid for their reviews.

Despite some of the reviews I had a pretty decent experience at Drakes except one bartender. She was the first bartender to approach me when I sat the bar. I asked her for her drink recommendation and told her I wasn't a beer drinker and she walked away! Literally walked away like "oh well, I'm a beer drinker and you're not so I don't have time for you". Bartender,Tara to the rescue. She was great and seemed like a fan-favorite. I enjoyed the mussels, crab cakes and onion soup and shared them with a friend. Yummy. I'll be back

I was torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars. In comparison to other cuisine's I've had- I'd say it's a relative three, but compared to what is around the area it's definitely a four. Mostly in this area you find a lot of chain restaurants and this place definitely blows them out of the water. The atmosphere just feels so homey and welcome. You feel like you're at one of those bars in TV shows where you walk in and feel like a part of the community- I love places like that. Before coming here with my friend this past Sunday, I will say that parking was rough. Although they have a parking lot- it usually gets packed so be prepared for some street parking worst case scenario. Honestly- that didn't deter me too much (because if anything, it proved that it was a really popular place and I should be excited) As soon as I walked in the hostess and waitresses were very welcoming, accommodating, and prompt in seating and asking about our orders. You would think there would be some sort of slip in that because the Eagles game was on, but nope- friendly and prompt as ever. The menu was extensive and yet not overwhelming. I ended up ordering a sangria and the 2nd and Alleghanny burger and I have zero regrets. It really is a wonderful burger with unique ingredients I haven't had before. It might sound strange on the menu (a little out of the box for some) but you won't have any regrets. The flavor profile was really great. I will say that I ordered a medium and the burger that came out more well done- but I wasn't upset especially since the burger was so delicious anyways. Another minor thing I was kind of expecting was the sides. I figure if I'm paying 12 dollars for a burger it would come with a side of some sort but it didn't. Again those are both minor things. All in all service was great, food was very unique, and the atmosphere is spot on for a great time.

Like this place alot! Finally had a chance to go here and sit down with some new friends this past weekend. Great selection of beers and pub menu, I had a few wings and a really solid burger. Our server was attentive and timely with fresh drinks, we didn't have to sit around waiting for anything. I would say the pub grub was pretty good - considering what's around here, I think that says alot. Drakes is definitely a step up from the pretzel and cheeseburgers you can get anywhere on Old York Road. If you haven't already, you owe it to yourself to go have a beer here and look at the menu, you won't be disappointed. The only con is that its street parking only, and most of the available spaces you'll see around it are really private lots, so don't park there. Right around the corner there is a large public parking lot that's cheap which is great.

I thought this place was known for it's burgers. I did not realize it is known for awful burgers. Terrible experience there with a burnt piece of chicken we sent back and an overcooked burger that was too small for the stale bun and tasted of bad cooking oil. What a disappointment. We won't be back.

I ordered the jerk burger, it tasted like it's been sitting there from a previous order a few hours before and the bread was completely stale and dried out , I told the waitress and instead of taking my whole plate and rectifying the situation she asked if I would just like another bun , I was completely irritated so I just kept the old burger . This is my last time eating from this establishment !!!!

If you take a gander at my profile, I'm obviously not from anywhere near Pennsylvania. However, I married a Philly girl and periodically get to go visit. Cheese Steaks, Hoagies, Water (wooder) Ice... yeah, they have the market on those items cornered. But I had never been able to score a really good burger in PA until my bro-in-law took me to this place. Bacon cheddar ranch burger... coronary on a bun, but you have to live a little sometimes! Awesome flavor and perfectly cooked. And ENORMOUS. I'm close to 6'3" (with my Timberlands on) and 240 lbs, and I couldn't finish more than half. And the fact that they actually put the name of the restaurant on the top bun with a branding iron is flat out badass... It has outdoor seating, which did us no good in January, but it is good to note for the summer months. And it has that good old college-town pub feeling to it. I felt like I was at one of the numerous spots in Athens, GA during my UGA days. Menu is actually a lot more extensive than burgers with mussels, seared tuna, etc. You can find something for everyone.

I have been here many times for lunch on weekdays and the food has always been fast and decent. The burgers are on point and the staff has always been friendly. The outside seating area is a good experience as well as the indoor rustic look and feel. Only two small things - parking may be tough at times - and secondly, they have a few tables right near their bathrooms - so every time someone needs to use the restroom, they have to squeeze past your table and their ass gets in your face. This could be a good thing - unfortunately for me, its always been some old dude. They should open up that corner where the bathrooms are to avoid this. If you go there and they seat you near the bathroom in the corner, request another table.

It's amazing to see how far this place has fallen. At one time, it was the only spot around, with decent food and service. Now, I honestly don't get it. The coven of young girls they have to seat customers are endlessly having a giggle fest amongst themselves instead of seating customers. Despite having a reservation, our table wasn't ready for a long time after, and when finally seated, we were 2 seats short, leaving 2 guests standing while a giggle twin found 2 dirty, wobbly chairs to add. Then we all got to smush closer because they couldn't find another small table to add to our party. I was left wondering why I bothered making a reservation. The service from the waitress was poor. She came across as being not too bright. Another giggler. She got several orders wrong, while my dads order was missed all together. We could have told her before the end of the meal, had she bothered to check in with us. When it was finally delivered, with a giggle, there was no apology or comping of any portion of the meal. The food itself is fair. No big deal. Nothing to talk about. At all. The menu, tables, seats, and condiments are filthy. Sticky grossness everywhere. Vapid, clueless, nonexistent service. Not a place that I would recommend. I am baffled that the place always seems full. Pretty sure many are leaving disappointed.

I've been to the Drake a few times since starting a job in the area. Nothing has wowed me, but there are enough positives to keep going for lunches and happy hours. It's a typical Irish Pub that offers standard Irish dishes along with your typical burgers and salads. The prices are reasonable, and it isn't too loud even when it's crowded. The servers do their part, but generally seem disinterested in your existence. They don't do the best job of handling groups, even when the orders are simple. They, usually have weekly food, specials, but I'd stick to the main menu which is solid. The beer selection is decent. The TV's are well positioned. They have a sun room and deck attached that I'm looking forward to in the summer.

Anywhere you go on New Years Eve is bound to make you wait for a table, so our 35-minute wait for a table for 3 wasn't unexpected. That being said, the hostesses seemed to be a tad unorganized. Once we were seated, the service was excellent and the food better than expected. Although I'm not from the area, we would definitely go back for a meal the next time we are with family on that side of the river (Delaware).

IF you want to watch 6 different TV's at once, and IF you are a sports fan, and IF you want to have a drink. Then this may be the place for you. All the above might cancel out the slow service. The food delivered cold to your table. The waitress who never came back to ask if we needed anything. This was our first and last visit. The restaurant was not even 3/4's full and we couldn't place our order for about 15 minutes. The onion soup had plenty of cheese, onions and SALT. That must have been the main ingredient. The Irish breakfast was fine and the Eifel Tower Burger was too, but why in the world did the onion rings come to the table already cool? This place has so much competition in the neighborhood, we certainly will not be returning.

Just wanted a simple pub so we could get a bite to eat and a cold beer. Every beer (a total of three) that was brought to our table was either flat, off, or downright rotten. My husband said his burger was good but I couldn't eat my salad. We paid 40 bucks for a terrible meal.

I recently went here with my mom and sister...randomly me and mom got burgers loved the stamp on the roll I thought that was pretty cool. However, didn't particular like the burger itself or the BBQ sauce...they always have great drink specials. I ordered a margarita and it tastes just like sour mix, it wasn't that great! Hopefully next time I will have a better experience....

love their happy hour half off appetizers!! always get the mussels with garlic wine sauce. it's a hit or miss though. There was this one time when the sauce was a bit funny and my nice garlic bread was on the burnt side, but overall I like it. I've ordered it a couple times. Mozerella sticks are wonderful! nice long stringy cheese like a mozerella stick should be. no comment on drinks tho cuz i hardly drank here.

This was my second visit to the Drake Tavern, located right in the heart of Jenkintown. The location is great and gives you that city feel, especially if you sit outside. When we arrived we were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait which was totally acceptable on a Friday night. We headed inside to the bar to grab some beers while we waited. It was packed to the gills just like the last time I was there, which is a good thing. The only problem is, their bar isnt particularly big so its a challenge to squeeze in and get a drink order in. Theyd be better served by making that larger. I asked for a draft list and was told "If we have one its probably outdated." Considering they serve craft beer, that was dissapointing. Not a smart business decision to not have your beers listed anywhere for your customers to see. They need to add a simple chalk board near the bar whers they can list what they offer and most importantly, THE PRICES (I'll come back to this). The table took about 45 minutes instead of 25 but we had some beers and were sitting out front on a beautiful night so we had no problem with that. Our waitress Leah was friendly and attentive. She did a great job overall. We all ordered the Pretzel bun burger, upon her request, and the beer battered fries. The burger was awesome, albeit messy, and the fries were unique and tasty. Back to the beer price issue. At the table I once again asked our waitress for a draft beer list and was told they didnt have one but she showed me her hand written cheat sheet..which also had no prices. Assuming they were reasonable, I ordered 2 of my favorite beer, Southern Tier Pumking pumpkin ale. I was astonished when the check arrived to see that each one was $11! The glass was arround 10-12 ounces max. That is an offensive price. I paid $7 for a larger glass at Kraftwork in Fishtown just 4 days prior. Overall it was a good experience and I will be back again but the lack of transparency around their beer selection and prices drops this from what would have been a 4 star review to a 3 star.

i think there are some 2014 food choices that few people order tat puts them above the typical pub food level, but like others have written, the place is still extra loud, beer prices a mystery until the bill comes, and forget about weekend parking-not even worth trying

I like it here, enough that I invited my downtown Philly friends to go for. Bite and drinks after the Hiway. The Niçoise salad was just right and so satisfying after the awful faked Caesar salad I had at Applebee's last night. Only prob, for me at least, is the TV was a little too loud. But the football fans preferences rightly supersede mine ;-)

I had one of their famous burgers for takeout on Thursday for lunch. the takeout responsibilities seem to be thrust upon a new department there all the time but somehow it still works . the burger I had was quite good and worthy of being noted in Glen Macknow's hamburger contest. the portions were huge. I did not set out to eat more than half the burger but I downed the entire one...couldn't let go as they say!

  • Ravyn P.

I think it's really stupid they don't offer fries with all the burgers. I mean the plate looked empty with just a little dinky plastic cup of coleslaw. For the prices of the burgers I think you guys can manage to put a few fries on the plate...along with it will actually look like a finished meal.

This is a great place if you want to drink beer and hang out watching sports on big screen TV's and eat some so-so quality food. I don't drink beer but like the atmosphere and stopped here with my husband for dinner 2x in the last month. Always crowded and not too easy to get your server's attention. Had Shepherd's Pie on 1st visit and it was ok, thought I'd get it the 2nd time, but not on the menu. Since my last visit they no longer give you 2 menus, 1 for all the meal items and a separate one for burgers, which they want to be known for...just 1 tidy menu. Sat in the bar area at a high top table. I think our waiter may have been annoyed that we ordered soft drinks, he certainly wasn't going to make any $ off of us on the bar tab. We both ordered burgers and the fried combo appetizer...sounds like a lot of food for 2, but we knew we may bring some of the app platter home. The mistake we made was asking for fries on the side with our burgers. The waiter never told us that a "side order" of fries was an entire basket of fries, so when our food arrived, we were handed a full basket of fries for each of us. I jokingly/seriously said to the waiter that we should never have ordered 2 sides of fries...His response?...."Well you ordered so much food (2 burgers and an appetizer combo) that I figured you were really hungry" WHAT? that is just poor customer service. I want you to tell me that the side salad I order is dinner size or the side fries are enough for an entire table and let ME make the decision to change my order. My medium burger was too rare and I only ate the outside better cooked portion of the meat and left most of it on my plate, it wasn't really worth & honestly, I won't be back Maybe offer a cocktail menu for those that are not beer drinkers & If you do have one, then our waiter was even less competent for not sharing that with us.

I've been there a couple of times now and have always had a good experience. Yes there are a lot of TVs around the restaurant but it's a fun active environment. The food has always come out in good time and was always hot. I've seen reviews of cold food and bad service but I've never had a problem there. Love the food

Excellent place to sit outside on a nice day like we did today. For an appetizer, my mom and I split the Spinach & Artichoke dip. It was not very good. We only are a few bites each before we decided it wasn't worth the calories or getting full from before our entrees came. I got the Thai chicken salad and my mom got the deep purple salad. They were both excellent. The only negative for the Thai chicken salad was that there was too much lo mein and not enough greens. Although the appetizer wasn't good I'm still giving Drake Tavern 4 stars because we have been here many times and usually enjoy whatever we order.

Took way too long to get food (55 minutes for two burgers) and waitress never came back to ask to refill drinks. I had to go to the bar and ask bartender to refill our drinks. When food finally came waitress gave obligatory sorry and walked away. Btw the burgers were very good, but service and poor attitude gets the Drake 2 stars.

Irish Bar that has regular Irish food. Went here for a late lunch and got the cheddar bacon burger. I got it in turkey burger form. I wasn't to bad but I feel like it lacked flavor . I came to fine that Drake was the same owners as the kitchen bar and I didn't really enjoy their turkey burgers either. Must be the sameMy boyfriend enjoyed his burger with fried onions and guacamole. I didn't get a chance to try. Only negative is some of the burgers don't come with Fries and that's one of the bed parts. Fries are delicious and crispy I do like the atmosphere and location of the bar. I like the enclosed patio and deck for some drinks on a nice day. On a warm day the enclosed patio gets very warm and was almost intolerable. Plenty of TVs to watch sports!

Went here one night for late night food after work. It was trivia night. I loved the wings but the rest of the food we had, a chicken club and fries was average bar food. This place was pretty calm and had a good vibe. Since it's close to the house we will probably be back

OK Someone read my review! My server was AMAZING on Black Friday. She was efficient, professional and funny. We all got wings, an "Amy" burger-she put it together herself-- and I got the Captain Morgan Burger. The wings were PERFECT and the burgers were sublime. The only thing about the Drake is it's really expensive for what you get. Although if the service is as good as it was this time, I will return!!!

    (4)
  • Amber T.

Hit this place on a Saturday afternoon this time. The servers are always friendly but the wings were totally disappointing. There are a good amount of tvs though. I would say the drinks are probably averaged priced but a little high in my opinion for what you're getting. they do have a nice patio seating area though and Quizzo on tuesday or wednesday nights I believe.

The Drake use to be my place to go every Friday night for dinner, but the past three times were awful. The utensils were dirty, my food was awful each time, and the manager alone makes you not want to come back. Completely rude and just does not care about the customers happiness. I wanted to have my daughters birthday party there, and she basically told me no! Talk about pushing away business. I really hope the owners fix this problem because I really miss my Bacon Cheddar Ranch Burger

Just your standard overpriced, lousy bar with delusions of quality. The fried appetizers were close to Jr. High cafeteria, but with downtown prices. The best thing that could be said about the burger is that it was forgettable. Scotch selection sucked for a place this size. Service was ok. I have to eat at this pompous dive once a year - and i'm grateful I have 364 days until the next time.

I ate at Drake's this past weekend early on Saturday evening. Both the Phillies and the Eagles preseason games were on so we sat inside where we had a good view of TVs showing both games. Our waitress was great and we had no complaints about service. My husband stuck with an order of Buffalo wings and they were pretty good--a nice garlicky flavor. I ordered a burger since I've heard people rave about how good they are but I was kind of disappointed. I didn't think to ask but I just assumed my burger would come with fries on the side. Nope. I had to order a separate side of fries and, while they were good, the order was way too much for one person. So I ended up eating only a small amount and I wasted most of them. The burger was ok--I asked for medium well, it was actually cooked to well and the bun was too dry for my liking. I did like their red sangria. We'll be back because it's close to home and the food was pretty good---just add a few fries to the plate on burger orders.

The Drake is known for their burgers and they are all good. This is a medium sized pub style restaurant located on a tight corner with a small parking lot. Worth a visit for a weekday lunch or really anytime the burger and beer craving hits. Lots of drink specials daily. Visited here several times with my family members and our advice is stick to the pub style fare with the wide selection of burgers and sandwiches.

I've been to the Drake many times with friends that live in the area. It's a great bar to hang out at if you're in the area. Great service & relatively nice selection of draft & bottled beers. The outside porch is great in the warmer months. However, a few of my complaints: -Inconsistency I've had quite a lot of food from The Drake over the years. I've had borderline great food & flat out bad food from here. I'd recommend the burgers but they seem to very hit or miss recently. Wings are good & the burgers can be really good but I'd stick to the basic bar food, everything else can be so-so. -Volume I like loud music as much as the next man but this guy who DJs on Saturdays must be partly deaf or think he's DJing at a warehouse party. Plus, if you're going to have the music that loud you should at least have somewhere to dance... -Crowd The crowd here can either be really cool or college douche central, depending on the night. Nice to come with some friends but if it's just a few of you it gets harder to drown out the wails of barely legal drunk girls & their obnoxious boyfriends. I still gave it 4 stars because it's probably the best bar in the immediate area (although that isn't saying too much)

I was struggling between choosing 4 or 5 stars for the Drake, but I couldn't find a single reason that they didn't deserve the full 5. Wings were delicious and meaty, and the spicy garlic sauce was a great take on the standard buffalo wing. French fries were salty and crunchy, not dripping grease. My entree was fantastic -- the samurai tuna. My only complaint is that the tuna steak wasn't larger, but they sesame seed crust was tasty and they nailed my medium-rare request. Had never had fried spinach before, but it was light and delicious: the perfect crunch! Mashed potatoes were enjoyable and not overly creamy. Dessert was the fried waffle sundae... wow. One helluva dessert, certainly not for one person. Worth every calorie. Finally, beer selection was great. Enjoyed the Magic Hat Vinyl on tap and the Duvel Belgian bottled. Prices for the beers were veryyyyyy reasonable as well. Simply no reason not to eat and drink here! UPDATE: After such a fantastic meal the other day, I went back last night with high hopes. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I ordered their steak and asked for medium rare. The waitress said "medium rare?" back to me just to make sure. Regardless, my steak came out at a pitiful gray medium well. When the portion of steak is disappointing as is, you better at least cook it right. We also got the same dessert as the other night (waffle sundae), but this time got about half the portion: four people sharing a dessert and they gave us a quarter of a waffle. It costs next to nothing to make an entire waffle, but for some reason, they still felt it necessary to shortchange us. Finally, our waitress was curt and inattentive all dinner long. I would've loved to leave my five-star review, but I was so turned off by the inconsistency of this place and their complete inability to cook a steak even close to properly that I decided to change my rating.

Drake is a fun place to kind of kick back and relax and grab something to eat. The food was good but nothing really stood out. It was nothing to come brag about but it was not bad. You can't go wrong with the O'Hara burger there. Also, if you want to catch a sports game while eating, this is the place to go.

Its a nice small place with good beer. The food can definitely be a hit it or miss, had the burger which is very good but the wings I had the other night were a definite miss. The atmosphere during the day is nice especially when the weather is good because they have a nice outdoor area. At night it can turn into a college bar especially on the weekends were it can be loud and overcrowded. Overall it's a good bar.

I have been to the drake a few times. I have had a good experience, an okay experience, and a terrible experience. The first time the food was great and the service was great. The second time the food was great but the service was terrible. Waitress only checked on us every fifteen minutes, forgot drink refills and was so slow. It wasn't crowded at all. This last time I ordered through food cab. The burger I got was well done, I asked for medium rare, I got no avocado on my burger that is supposed to come with avocado. The fries were cold and my friends got the wrong kind of fries. So disappointed.

Disappointing. First, the service staff was really dissappointing. After being seated, it took a good ten minutes for us to get a drink order. Second, they seemed confused and even 'refreshed' a drink when it didn't need refreshing. The sushi had to be sent back because it was too rare. The 'kettle chips' was like eating lard. The sunroom patio could of used a little temperature control. I have heard the burgers are the best, and most consistant thing they make. The beer selection isn't bad, but overall, I wouldn't go here if I didn't need to.

If you want to go out for dinner, then this is definitely a good place to go for some high end bar food. I typically wouldn't recommend going here for drinks. I think that they're over priced. Parking is usually not good, particularly around dinner time.

Drake is basically another not-so-inspired "Irish pub." Decent food but nothing that will blow you away. I went recently with a few people and we got the $20 app sampler...I would not recommend. Basically just a bunch of stuff thrown into a fryer (chicken fingers, wings, mozz sticks & the like) and then way overpriced. I would not reccoment that. I had a burger that was fine...I thnik the highlight of my dining experience was the "Drake" stamp on my hamburger bun...pretty exciting. Nice beer selection though...Warsteiner on tap! As a previous post said, I'd come here to drink, not to eat.

I've driven by the Drake multiple times per week and never considered stopping in. I'm glad I did, and I'll be back - when I want a heavy, fried meal. (You know that happens every once in a while!) I was working with a sales girl around Thanksgiving, who casually mentioned that she's vegetarian when I was making small talk about the recent holiday. We compared notes on our favorite restaurants, and she turned me on to the Drake. This tavern seems most popular for its burgers, and they do a mean veggie burger. The patty was deep fried and scalding hot, but very good - almost like a hush puppy loaded with shredded carrots and other veggies. You can sub in a veggie patty on any of their specialty burgers (although there is an upcharge - a little ridiculous, as you should get a credit for saying hold the bacon). I really liked the Captain Morgan's, which was smothered in a sticky sweet sauce. We also ordered one plain, which was a little bland. You can park on the street, and there's also a lot off of Greenwood and another off West (although you'll have to back straight out - you'll understand if you go there).

I'll start by saying that the burgers are very tasty and good. However the waitresses are majorly rude and ignorant. Whatever you do - do not go on a Saturday night - it is crazy packed and it makes for a miserable experience. The lights go in and out, everyone is very tightly seated, it's very noisy and the waitresses will bump you every chance they get without any apologies whatsoever. The parking is a total nightmare and the ambiance is not good enough to stay. If anything - if you cannot resist these burgers - do take out and save yourself the misery. I had the guacamole burger and my friends had the captain morgan and it was nicely prepared~so I'd recommend those.

I'll start off by saying that I've been coming to the Drake for years, and it's always, for the most part, been a reliable place for good bar food. The service has always been top notch, and the waitstaff pleasant and welcoming. My complaint- the beer,. Tonight I stopped by for a sandwich and a few beers. The sandwich was predictably decent, but when I received the bill, I was dumbfounded that the price for my 2 beers (Goose Island Sophie) was $15.00-more than the price of my sandwich. That's $7.50 per beer for Goose Island, a domestic beer brewed by Anheuser Busch. Now Goose Island makes some nice beers, but Drake's pricing is way out of line. Compare that to the prices for actual Belgian and other top notch imports at craft beer bars and it's absurd. Drake's has always had a good selection of decent beers, but I wouldn't consider it a craft beer bar where that price level would be warranted-especially for Goose Island. I even double checked with the waitress, who assured me that the price was correct. If they are going to charge prices like these, they need to let the customer know in advance, or prominently display their prices as European bars do. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth, and i won't be back.

Don't believe the hype at Philly.com that the Drake has the areas #2 burger. Tastes like their food comes out of a Sysco package. Not the worst I've had but its not a lovely hand formed patty seasoned with salt and pepper.

This is my go-to place for an early dinner to start off a little date night or to end a crazy week with Sunday lunch. I'm totally addicted to their buffalo chicken salad and my fiancé always finds an interesting beer on tap to tickle his fancy. Their specials change monthly and, while some are better than others, the Drake is very willing to accommodate if you aren't fond of what you ordered. It can get crazy crowded on a Saturday night but complaining because the place is popular and busy is kind of pointless because any place worth while is going to be packed on a weekend, especially a place with a bar. I also love that when the weather is nice you have the option to sit on the patio which is surrounded by some sort of misting cooling system.

Ate here once and probably never again. Hostess was some rude bratty young girl with an attitude and sat me in a shit seat. Food was junk. I guess this place is only worth it for the beer. Saw plenty of lushes in attendance.

First timer tonight. Celebrating a birthday and 5 out of 5 enjoyed our dinners. The tuna and wasabi mashed potatoes were perfect for my "not too hot" taste. Great beer selection. Patio was great.

It is located in a nice area with a beautiful outside setting to view the town. I ordered a burger and found that it was delicious. Perfectly cooked. I was amused that they stamped the restaurant's name to the bun. A nice little touch. However, I was disappointed that my burger did not come with fries. This is America, right? You order a burger, isn't it commonsense that you will get fries with it. Nonetheless, I ordered a basket of fries and enjoyed them for the most part. They were extremely salty. The beer selection was decent and the food menu looked appealing for future visits.

Went here for the first time for a little "date night" getaway with my husband. *Nothing negative to comment & we will go back when we have the chance.* Only 4 stars because I think the atmosphere could be spruced up a bit- tho I might feel differently had we been seated in that cute patio area. Very attentive & friendly staff. I had the spinach salad app. Which is as big as any normal salad- don't let the appetizer name fool you - enough to share- delicious! Also had the jumbo Saucy Shrimp - a Must-have! Be sure to dip that pita in the sauce- yum! My mouth just watered :) My husband had the crabcakes & loved them. Can't remember the amount of our bill but my husband commented on how reasonable it was.. Mixed crowd of very friendly patrons- from college students to girls nite out's to 60 Somethings. Charming! Oh & our great waitress (wish I could remember her name) even chased us into the parking lot to let us know my husband left his phone behind! Very Impressive!:)

Perfect place to go when you're out with friends or even for a date. The daily happy hour specials are very reasonably priced and the quality of food is good and consistent. Usually you see the same staff, which may be an indicator of good management. The new patio addition is awesome during spring and summer months. Drake has a city tavern feel but has a private parking lot and way less traffic when trying to navigate the area. I'd call it a neighborhood gem that locals and folks who are just passing thru can enjoy. Their burgers are awesome and the Cajun chicken pasta is really delicious too.

Drake's is a great place to kick back and chill without having to worry about getting shot (give me a break, I live in North Philly where it rains bullets...). Whenever I come here, service is always prompt and courteous. Prices are reasonable and the burgers are never a disappointment. I recommend the O'Hara kobe beef burger for some awesome barbeque-y goodness! Yum.. I tend to get it medium well and it doesn't come out over-cooked, IMO. While you are enjoying your meal and watching the games, be sure to order an Irish Carbomb while you're at it.

Fix your food cab banner, I'm tired of looking at that droopy thing everyday on my way home from work! It says a lot about the managements attention to detail if something like this is allowed to persist looking like crap. How clean could the kitchen be if you don't even hang an advertisement so that people can read it?

It's four stars as long as you come when they aren't busy or the staff isn't tired. We came at the end of dinner rush (around 8-9 pm), and our burgers came out overcooked and the bottom bun soggy. But we came back during the week around normal dinner time and the experience was much better. The servers were attentive. We had a different person take our drink orders, bring us our drinks, take our food orders and bring us our food, but no real complaints because all four of them were nice and the food was timely. Our burgers came out done the way we asked and no sogginess! The no fries thing In another review is true, but just order the dirty chips as an appetizer and you really won't care.

The food at Drake is usually very good. While a little on the pricey side, entrees (particulary the burgers) are well-seasoned and delicious. Be wary: only some of the burgers come with fries! The appetizers are underwhelming and overpriced, for typical fried bar fare. Trivia Night on Wednesdays, which I've attended a handful of times, is sparsely populated. It isn't that challenging, and averages about 5-6 teams per week. Perhaps the dollar Bud Light isn't as much of a draw as the Flyers tickets offered for this Friday's Beirut tournament.

"Not bad" is the way I responded when someone asked me about my recent visit here. An average selection of beers on tap, that alone may prevent me from going out of my way to go back. I did have an Oberon Ale, and that was the most creative beer on tap in my opinion. It was so-so, temp wise and flavor, maybe the taps could use a cleaning. Although I did not get a burger (claimed to be a house specialty), my friends who both got one said they were "OK", did not look very big nor very juicy. I got the tuna with wasabi mashed, edible and fresh, but not a very good cut of tuna. Overall, no need to go out of my way to go back, but I would stop if I was in the neighborhood until someone points out another place in Jenkintown worthy. Oh, the outdoor seating was a plus.

this a great place to have a quick bite to eat .i havent been there in a while so decided to go last night was in ther mood for a certain burger they called the shrimp asain burger which consisted of a homemade burger teriyaki glace shrimp with a asian salad top with fried wontons and they took it off there menu!!! why???/ ):so we tried a diffrent burgers which was also good and the crab cake sandwich which was sooo good . its all crab meat (i hate it when theres so much stuffing in the meat that its just a lump of mush) it was seasoned really well & comes with a side of old bay fries

My husband and I would probably go here more often if it was closer to us. It's not too far, but just enough to make us hit up Glenside Pub more often for our burgers and beers. If I was asked to compare burgers between the two pubs, the Drake would win hands down. They have a creative selection of burgers and sandwiches and their Bacon Ranch Cheddar burger is like heaven. I have been here twice now and was seated quickly, although both times the place was jam-packed with customers. They serve you incredibly quickly which makes their turnover rates high and is probably why the wait is generally very short. They do lose a star for ambience: the music is generally a bit too loud to hear oneself think (who blasts Michael Jackson, anyway?) Also, the tables are all very close together and this isn't New York, it's Jenkintown, people. The tables are so tightly packed that my brother had to move our entire table himself so the waitress could get by us and serve our neighboring table. That was a bit over the top. But worth it for the amazing burgers!

I went there last Saturday night and the place was half empty. I got a burger on the menu with avocado and bacon. It was a disaster. Floppy and the meat had no taste. Plus, After dissecting it, I saw the meal was rare. I had ordered medium well. The only game in Jenkintown except for gross Buckets dive bar.

I liked the vibe and look of this place, but the food we had sucked. My friend ordered the tuna, seared, which came with mashed potatos and spinach. The tuna was waaaaaaaaaaay overcooked, flaky and pink, not a hint of red left in the thing. I went simple and ordered buffalo garlic wings, and I specified I wanted them crispy. Wings were not crispy, nor very flavorful, and there wasnt much buffalo sauce on them. I'd go back and have a beer but I won't go back and eat. Also, our waitress would disappear for 10 minutes at at time. I needed a refill on my drink and when she finally came back with the bill, when I was done eating, she finally got me one.

Drake is a great place to hang out, put back a few glasses of happy-juice (take your choice) and catch up with friends. I was on a quest for good french onion soup. I must say, Drake is in my top 3. Other favorite items: Salmon salad, Pepper Jack Burger, Chipotles Guacamole Burger, and the Drake's Crab Cake. Their monthly special menu is usually pretty good. Yesterday I had the Pear au Champagne salad - good stuff.

It's clearly been a while since I've been to The Drake for Happy Hour. No free buffet or drink specials anymore. Bummer. The only Happy Hour specials are a select handful of half-price appetizers that you can only order if you sit in the bar area and buy an alcoholic drink. And you better get there before 5:30 if you want that seat because it tends to fill up. The appetizers I had were the chili nachos, cheesesteak spring rolls and saucy shrimp, all very good. The nachos were your standard bar nachos, the spring rolls had a really tasty ketchup sauce with them, and the shrimp was delicious. My only complaint is I think the half-price apps were half-sized as well. There were only two spring rolls (cut in half to make 4 pieces) and two, yes two, shrimp. This tends to irk me because it sounds like you're getting a deal with half-price apps but in reality, the portion is smaller so there's no deal at all. The service was fine and the drink prices were reasonable. Even though I'm disappointed that they took the Happy Hour perks away, I did enjoy The Drake. Everyone I went with was happy with their food choices, the atmosphere and the prices.

Good place to go and watch a soccer game, have a beer and eat dinner all at the same time. Atmosphere is nice, seating is comfortable and beer menu is good. Appetizers are good and entrees are worth a try. One of my favorite bars around the Jenkintown area.

I decided to try the Drake one last time before I leave Montgomery County for a new and shiny job on the other side of the bridge. I figured with just ordering drinks this time, what could go wrong? My friend and I ordered two different beers ... 5 minutes later, the server says they're out. We order two more. 5 minutes later, she says they're out of those two. "So what DO you have?" we asked, and the answer was 4 draft beers. Slim pickings, and those pickings were not things I would normally order and they were kind of pricey for beer, even during happy hour. I'd just rather not deal with it anymore.

This a good local pub restaurant. The selection is ok, but we enjoy the food. A solid selection of beers, which is critical for any tavern/pub. It's more of a "bar" and the noise can be too high for a family sit down. A nice spot if you want to catch the game.

BEWARE: Their parking lot is small and is only accessible from the one-way section of Greenwood Ave. Also the meter maids in J-town are militant! You will get ticketed for parking illegally or if you meter runs out. Other than that the bar is spacious, well lit, and has great food. Try their French Dip Roast Beef! Good stuff. They run frequent drink specials and the crowd tends to be a little older than in other bars in the Abington area.

My fiancee and I arrived for dinner Friday evening. The place was very busy and we went to the bar to get a drink. After about 20 minutes we were seated at a table. The Goods: We ordered the wings to split and I ordered a burger for my main meal. The wings were very good. The wings were crisp and the sauce was spicy and flavorful. The burger was the best I have feasted upon in quite awhile (at least since I last ate at Good Dog.) The beer selection was decent, with a couple of microbrews along with the common swill. This place would have received 4 stars judged on the cuisine alone. The Bads: The waiter was ABYSMAL. My theory is that he was a Cro-Magnon man and was still acclimating to our service culture. He stopped by shortly after we sat down and then did not come back for almost 15 minutes to get our order. Thankfully we already had drinks or a major incident would have occurred. We had to flag him down to inform him we needed to order, since he did not ask. My glass was empty, on the edge of the table thirsting for beer for 10 minutes before he asked if I needed another drink. Our wings came out relatively late and our burgers followed up a few minutes later. Of course I had to ask for additional napkins for which I received beverage napkins. Due top the strength of the food, I will try this place once more to see if the horrid service was an aberration or just the norm. Edit: I have been back here a bunch of times and the bad service was a one time thing. I would recommend going here.

I've been a few times. A typical pub like experience. The burgers are pretty good. The other food offerings are so, so. I would not hesitate to go back to the establishment in the future. Nothing great but nothing terrible either about the place. An evening meal will be rather loud. I found a lunch time experience quiet and subdued.

I really want to like this place because it's a short drive from my door, but I really just can't get behind it. First of all, I generally find the crowd to be an obnoxious mix of middle-aged folks trying to forget the work week and early twenty-somethings looking to get obliterated. The music is always too loud and seems to be piped straight from 104.5. The beer is nothing to write home about and they only get as adventurous as Magic Hat it seems. Who wouldn't, though, when most of your crowd is content with Budweiser and Coors? We're not exactly dealing with sophisticated palates. I have never found the service to be stellar and I could really do without young women prancing around in low-cut, tight t-shirts as if Hooters has come to town. And then there is the food... They do a decent job with their burgers, but it pretty much ends there. If you're going to attempt things like crab quesdillas, at least know what you're doing and use real crab meat. Most everything on the menu involves something fried. The food is bland and lacks creativity just like the rest of this place.

Nice little deck (smoky though) overlooking the traffic action of Jenkintown, a train town both homey and suburban. Boring wine but good beers on draft and friendly staff. You can add in a veg patty for any burger for an extra $1. I thought I remembered more veggie food on this menu like an awesome carrot salad when I was here several years ago, but perhaps it was somewhere else.

A good burger was tainted by how I saw a manager (later found out it was the owner named Zach) treat a waitress. She must have been in her teens and he berated her. As a customer, completely off-putting and I will not be returning to this establishment.

This is the place to be on a Tuesday night! Start your night off with $2 pints of Yeungling during all Phillies games. As the game winds down, you can enjoy your free buffalo wings after 9 oclock. It gets crowded right before 9 so get there a little before if you want a shot at the first batch. Also after 9, they have $1 well drinks until 11. And we found out last time that everyday they have $2 Miller Highlifes. Can it get any better than that? The "Champagne of Beer" for only 2 bucks. Great place to unwind on a weekday with some friends

The 3 star rating says it all. A-Ok. Most stuff on the menu is pretty tasty, the service gets the job done, and the prices are reasonable. I live pretty close, so whenever I need something greasy, fast, and easy, The Drake fits the bill. Others here have compared it to the Glenside Pub. My take: I like the Glenside Pub crowd a little better (cool old guys who want to talk sports vs. creepy old guys who want to flirt with young waitresses), but the food is way better at the Drake. I tried their beef stew, a few different kinds of burgers, and the fries and everything made my taste buds happy. I do wish they allowed dogs on their patio in the warmer months and I also agree with the whoever it was that recommened they play traditional Irish music instead of the lousy jukebox music.
