This is one of my favorite restaurants!! Marius and Sal, the owners, make you feel instantly at home with their warm welcome, and careful explanation of the menu. One of our friends has a gluten intolerance, and she was assured that choosing their penne, she would be safe. Marius even recommend we not choose a menu item that we were considering.- something one doesn't often experience. I've always been impressed with everything we've tried. Some highlights tonight included Portobello stuffed mushrooms, Clams Casino, Chicken Fantasia, Lobster Bisque., a delicious Swordfish special- with walnuts and a cream sauce- surprisingly flavored with Pernod , Chicken Parmesan which my husband requested grilled, (no problem) and Pistachio ice cream. Warning-portion size is big on all dishes. Expect to take some home. BYOB just great, because I don't see my flavored vodka in restaurants I should be sleeping now, as it's extremely late, but couldn't resist writing this interview first! (in the dark without glasses, so please excuse any typing errors!!

Looking at other's recent reviews on this place, I'm surprised they had such bad experiences. People who are looking for "fast" food and service should go to Olive Garden. I was in good company so maybe that made the difference... I made a reservation for a Friday night for at 7pm. The whole restaurant was filled with people. We were seated on time and even though we waited for bread for about 10 minutes, it came out hot and fresh. The waiter came over and told us the specials and came back a few minutes later to take our order. For an appetizer, I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. It was delicious. The sauce was lemony and garlicky and tasted great with the fresh bread. The portion was very large. My SO ordered the beef carpaccio. He had no idea what it was (thin slices of raw beef) and when it came out he was surprised. It came with some pieces of toasted bread, capers, and shredded Parmesan. He enjoyed it despite thinking it was something else. For our entrees, I ordered the vegetable ravioli which was spicy and flavorful. He ordered the chicken parm which was served with a huge piece of chicken. He was very happy with it. We ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, which was also excellent. It was a little strange that they had a tv on mute with a telemundo station playing but again, if you are with good company the decor of the restaurant (for me) doesn't really matter. It's a little dated but it feels homey and authentic. I wouldn't except much else on a family owned Italian place on the side of the road. We were seated near the door which was fine but a little drafty. An easy fix if I had moved to another chair. The bill came to about $75 and we were out after about an hour and a half. Considering I can sit with friends for several hours eating, drinking and chatting, I say that's pretty reasonable.

Usually Luigi's is on their game but I am guessing being Valentine's Day they were overwhelmed. Arrived for our 6 PM reservation and were seated right away, Ordered and we were off. I started with the lobster bisque which was quite good but listed as $7.50 on the menu and on our check was $11.95, strike one. My wife got the caprese salad and enjoyed it. Main courses came, I ordered veal scampi with shrimp, portions small, two small thin pieces of veal and four small butterflied shrimp, strike two. My wife got the lobster ravioli of which she got three raviolis, three small shrimp and three small scallops with no sides. Nothing came out hot and my side vegetables were ice cold, strike three. Dessert and coffee were delicious but put our total bill at $100 dollars, a bit much for what we got. The place was tightly packed and busy so we did not mention the overcharge on the soup.

Just starting my meal, the salad was (Cesar) very good fresh! I had chicken parm that was prepared just like I like it, all I had to do was ask! Even if it is not on the menu, the sign of real cooks!. Pasta was perfect. Everyone at the table enjoyed there meal! Lobster was good with the fra diablo and the Gnocchi Romano was very tasty. I found this place because I was going to be in the area and it was the first to accept my mothers day reservation made on mothers day. This was because I went early and when I arrived the place was empty. By the time I left there were only two tables empty. If your looking for ambiance only *** stars. If your looking for food. Hence the five stars. Don't take this wrong I like the place and the view of 263. I made the trip from 37 miles away and it is now on my list of if your in the area and don't want cheesestake and you have the money to spend will do again. Desert was worthy of a photo. Good but I really don't need this after such a big meal.

VERY SMALL PORTIONS!!!! Had a party of 12 for Sunday RES. Started with special salad of arugula and goat cheese. Fresh but the dressing was overly bitter. My main course was the veal quattro fromaggi - nice flavor - light sauce. BUT THE VEAL WAS 3 SMALL SMALL PIECES maybe 3 inches in diameter. For the PRICE it was not worth it at all......No veg on the plate, I asked for pasta on the side so no veg were given...the poor veal looked lonely so I ate it in 3 bites. Two others at the table ordered the veal and the portions were the same size. My son's chicken parm dinner was good and enough for him with the pasta. But he does not eat much anyway... I can't give this place any more stars because the price to food ratio is really off.

Save yourself the headache and humiliation! Made a reservation for a Saturday night. Turns out he doesn't stock bottled water- problem already... I ordered a veal dish, and my wife linguine with clams. While sitting and waiting for the meal the owner (that's right- the owner is a waiter there) never once refilled our beverages, never cleaned the table of all the crumbs. When the soup finally came out, it was bland veggie soup that anyone could get from a can. When finally after quite some time our entree's came, I saw my wife picking out what I thought were pieces of clams... but NO! they were giant cloves of garlic that were so abundant, she could barely eat the pasta at all. When I called this jerk over, he said (and I'm quoting here)- "what do you want? you're in an Italian restaurant!" with an attitude like I've never encountered when eating out. They he proceeded to add "you know- I don't put this much in, people complain, I put this much in, people complain- you know it's Italian". At which point I was vexed and fired back- "That's your explanation? You've got to be kidding me"- Grinningly he replied- It's how we make it. What a dick. Never again. Plus the food sucked- I make better at home.

The food here is great and I love byobs. It is a very small restaurant, but they are on their game. The outside is deceiving; give it a shot because the food won't disappoint.

This restaurant is so overrated. When it was in Warrington it was so much better. The last three times I was there I had subpar meals. Twice burnt sauce. Really? I wrote to the owner and he never had the courtesy to respond. Two stars might be one too many

Amazing food and amazing service too! I had Luigi's cater a party at my home. Our guests raved about the food. Excellent! The owner was there, along with his assistants. They had everything set up quickly and could not be more accommodating. The level of service was exceptional. I have gone there on several occasions since then. I would highly recommend!

This place is out of the way, so much so one barely notices it on the side of the road. However, the person I was with wanted to try it for a while so we decided to stop in. While the building is a little old and rundown (by the way, watch out if you want to go to the bathroom, the floor is really uneven! I almost fell over) you can tell they do at least try to spruce up their decor. The outside seating is nice, my only gripe would be that they should switch from AstroTurf to actual stone flooring. The wait for food wasn't overly long and we did in fact enjoy our meal - however, the pricing is a bit steep for what you get. 18 dollars for a bowl of pasta with no sides is not what I was looking to get. So basically, the food is good, but not that good. If you're looking to save money, go elsewhere.

Decided to try this place because of Groupon. Small building with large patio area. Entering, we liked the white tablecloth and place settings complete with wine glasses, even though this is a BYOB. Service was efficient. Started with clams casino, prepared differently but very good. Had enough sauce to dip your bread in! The ceasar salad was tasty and fresh, fresh shaved - parmesan reggiano? - beautfully plated. My husband had the flounder on a bed of spinach special, and i had the shrimp, scallops and crabmeat in pasta. The food was excellent! The only disappointment with this place was the loud pop music with poor speakers and the television! Management should upgrade the sound system (couple of small Bose speakers would do the trick) and play soft classical, and turn off the TV! This is a classy establishment, so go the extra mile. We would go again, and this time, with more friends!

It was so much better before. I consistently get the same meal, chicken amaretto, and this time it convinced me to either try something else or don't return. My husband liked his meal - one of the specials, but my regular menu item which I usually rave over, was just not good this time. Chicken was very tough and it made me sorry I ordered it. No one came back to the table and asked how our meal was after it was served or I would have mentioned that I was quite disappointed. Will probably go elsewhere in the future.

First visit to Luigi's and we were not disappointed. My husband and I enjoyed our meals including salad and appetizer. Dessert was delicious and service was pleasant and efficient. We frequently eat out and will definitely go back to this restaurant. Ambience is old and a little dated but food was well worth it.

This former roadhouse looks plain and simple on the outside, but a true treasure lies within. Luigi's theme is Italian, but very much Mediterranean in inspiration. The fish is exceptional--try the Mahi Mahi-- a visual symphony of color and texture with flavors deeply defined and carefully crafted. I highly recommend this fine owner/operated restaurant.

Food wasn't horrible but it wasn't special either. NY Strip steak had a good flavor but was a poor cut of meat. Nobody in our party was impressed and the meal was quite pricey. We wanted to like it but we will likely not return.

Ate at Luigi's for the first time this evening. Parking lot almost full when we arrived. Reservation for 630, walked in and place was packed; we were seated immediately, and the turnover continued for the next 90 minutes as we ate. Menu: simple but varied, something for everyone. Bread: homemade and delicious. My selections: soup Lobster bisque, flavorful but not overpowering, hot enough to enjoy. My entree: Veal Scampi...three slices of veal with three large butterflied shrimp in a delicious sauce. Mashed seasoned potatoes, carrots and broccoli served on the side. Homemade dessert tray offered nine selections, we split the carrot cake. Staff ALL very pleasant, and very attentive. Parking lot even more full as we left. Luigi's sits on the west side of 263; looks small and rustic from the outside, but inside is cozy, seating for 75 or so. PRices very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food we enjoyed. One of the better meals I've had out in years, hope to go back soon!

I visited Luigi's Restaurant on a Saturday evening for dinner. The restaurant is very small and almost missed the restaurant driving up York road. I had a reservation and was seated immediately. The inside of the restaurant felt dated. I did not enjoy the fact that the cash register was located in the dining room 5 feet in front of me. It was annoying having my waitress adding up the check and asking the owner the price of every menu item while I ate. I also had a hard time enjoying my meal with some old woman screaming and laughing like a 6 year old girl at the table next to me. No problems with service. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The bread I was served was not very good. It was very dense and was a far cry from Pane di Altamura. I sampled three appetizers during my meal. Luigi's Antipasto was light and refreshing. The crab was delicate, but the richness of the avocado didn't make sense to me in this dish. The avocado salad was also good, but again I really do not understand avocado in a supposed Italian dish. Lastly, the fried calamari was delicious. The calamari was tender with just the right amount of breading. The appetizers were all tasty, yet the presentation was distracting. All of the appetizers had a balsamic glaze, and oil drizzled in "fancy" patterns all over the plate, along with orange slices, and shreds of carrot everywhere. Unnecessary crap which distracts from the dish in my opinion. For my main course I ordered the Filet Tortellini. There were three large tortellini on the plate. The filling consisted of filet mingon and broccoli rabe. Unfortunately, there was too much meat and not enough broccoli rabe. The tortellini was served in cream sauce that I thought was too heavy. This combined with the tortellini filling made for an unbalanced dish. Yet again another dish, with balsamic glaze dumped along the rim of the plate The tiramisu was good, but for me sort of lacked coffee flavor. Overall not a bad meal. If you live nearby I would definitely give it a try, h

What an excellent find in the neighborhood! Love that it's a BYOB! Went there for a dinner party during the week & was so impressed by the food & service, couldn't wait to go back that Sat. night with friends. And, no disappointments for anyone in out group! Softshell Crab that was the special that night was as fabulous as any I've ever had at any seafood restaurant down the shore! Great caesar salads, too. Service was great!

Eight of us took Mom for her birthday to only be let down. We love BOYB, the food was very tasty, the service was ok. Not crowded, but noisy! The portion sizes were very out of whack. Caesar salads were ok, but were tiny. Some of the dishes were smaller than tiny. The veal was wonderful, more than 2 minuscule pieces would have been nice. My nephew, growing 15yo, ordered ravioli, unfortunately he left hungry. Contrasted by Mom's pasta was a huge portion. I love that they are trying to do Italian upscale, but the $$$$ to portion size is out of balance. My way of saying, overpriced...way overpriced. If $$$$ is no object, its great.

I have eaten here several times. Had dinner tonight, and it was excellent. We went out looking for fish. I had the swai (misspelled) and my wife had the crabcakes. It was all fantastic. The service was phenomenal as always. The veal is always good, and the coconut shrimp are ridiculously good. If you're looking for a local lunch, you can't do better. Great menu for lunch and dinner. Lunch prices are more than fair and dinner prices are very reasonable.

A great little Italian BYOB. Both the service and the food were excellent. It is small inside, and was quite crowded when I was there, so it was a little noisy. The menu is not huge, but has a lot of Italian classics, and is moderately priced. I'll definitely be going back!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
