This is unequivocally the best restaurant in Indiana, PA. The Coventry supports local farms, like Yarnicks, by relying on their seasonal produce to create the weekly menus. Even standards, like the scallops (yum) are augmented by sides and sauces that change. Everything here tastes fresh, as opposed to other places (Benjamins) where the salad tastes like it came out of an industrial sized bag picked out of the supermarket's dumpster. At the Coventry: perfect tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, nutritionally valid lettuces. The Coventry may be the only place to get a good glass of Sauvignon Blanc in this town as well. Their bar list is extensive, even stocking San Francisco's beloved Anchor Steam, and their artisanal cocktails (hello, St. Germain elderflower) put the jello shots available down the street at Wolfies to shame. While their prices may seem high when compared to the 2.99 fried cheese sticks that pervade almost every menu in town, I think they are quite reasonable considering the quality of the food. In SF, they could easily charge twice or three times what they do here and people would pay. However, they also offer a 3 course prix-fixe for those looking for a good bargain. It is the only restaurant here I actually *miss* when I am back home in San Francisco.

The Coventry Inn serves English food in a tradition English atmosphere. You can't miss the unique building as its traditional English design really stands out in downtown Indiana. They are open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 4pm to about 11pm. The food is amazing and there is always something new on the ever-changing menu. They keep their staples: fish & chips, crab dip, and the best fillet mignon in town, but there are also an ever changing set of dishes that include the likes of goat cheese ravioli, pumpkin mashed potatoes, and venison. It's a great place to try something different! My only complaint, they don't have HP sauce. With steaks that good, how can they not have the English equivalent of A1? They also have a small bar with 3 or 4 beers on tap and a great cider. The bar is fully stocked with top shelf liquors and they have a large wine selection. There are also a couple of comfy couches next to the bar to enjoy conversations with friends. Be aware that this is a place to have a slow, relaxing dinner--perfect for a date or to catch up with an old friend. As such, the service is deliberately, almost painfully, slow. A meal can easily take over two hours from seating to leaving. If you are in hurry, avoid eating at the Coventry. Reservations strongly recommended!

My wife and I lived in England for 3 years and always enjoyed the pub dining there. We were suprised to find a place in little Indiana, PA that brings back so many memories. The Coventry Inn has become our favorite place to dine in Indiana. We go at least once per month, usually more often. The menu changes pretty regularly, and they use excellent local produce, meat, etc. The outdoor dining in the warmer weather is nice, as is the live entertainment. We almost aways see the owner there, and he always stops by the table to chat. There are other good spots in Indiana for grownups, but the Coventry Inn is best.

Apparently the first time my husband and I visited The Coventry Inn it was during their few weeks featuring a French menu. The restaurant generally serves traditional English food, rather than French food. Subsequent visits to the restaurant were no less delicious than the first! I have dreams about the green lentils that were served under trout for my birthday celebration earlier this year. I can't recommend this place enough to people in Indiana looking for a more mature place to grab a bite and have a few drinks!

My sister and her husband were visiting from out of town last night and wanted to get dinner together, so I sent them to The Coventry Inn for dinner. Having been to the Coventry, and finding that it's an okay place to eat given the lack of really good restaurants in town, I (regrettably) recommended the restaurant to them. My sister was practically in tears when she told me about the experience she had there after they returned home. The service was great, the food tasted good, and the atmosphere was nice, she said, but the portion was basically a kid's portion. It was Spanish night and paella was on the menu, so she and her husband each ordered paella. If you've had paella before, you know it is basically a traditional Spanish meal eaten by rich and poor alike in Spain. It's rice with shrimp and other types of seafood, with chunks of chicken and sausage all bathed in a tomato sauce. It comes in a big bowl and everyone shares it. Instead of this, their meal arrived in one single-serving bowl and they were told to share it. It was the last serving left in the kitchen, according to the waitress and the manager, and that's why it was such a small portion. The nice waitress and manager both apologized for the meal being so puny, and referred her to the owner. My sister asked if he thought that the plate of food was worth $45 and he said yes, and that if she didn't like it they could just agree to disagree. He didn't offer them a partial refund, or something else to eat, and he didn't acknowledge what the waitress and manager had told my sister and her husband. After some back and forth, the owner's son came over and started harassing my sister! She felt ganged up on and said so, and the owner asked him to leave the table. In the end the owner said "This conversation is over" and he left them sitting there. He never acknowledged any fault on the restaurant's part, never acknowledged that there was a food shortage in the kitchen, and he never accommodated their request for a price reduction. My sister is a mild-mannered elementary school art teacher! She is not aggressive to people and I can't imagine that she did anything to provoke such a rude response. My brother-in-law was stunned by the owner's behavior. Of course they paid the for the two meals even though they only got one, and left a nice tip for the waitress. May the owner have an infestation of roaches, rats and mice visited upon his restaurant! Or, may he at least develop a thicker skin and an appropriate idea of customer service.

No doubt the best place in Indiana Pa. for an enjoyable, relaxing meal! This pub style restaurant with it's ever changing seasonal menu, decor and atmosphere is unlike any other in the region. The food is fresh and so unique. You will find traditional English favorites like Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding, Fish and Chips, Fillet Mignon. . . But also the most unique and interesting tastes you will find any where! I LOVE the French Onion Soup. Shepards Pie made with lamb is also terrific! The Coventry Inn is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. It offers live music quite often in the later weekend evenings which is very nice. In the fall working fireplace on cool evenings adds to our enjoyment! Dinners will range from $10 to $30. Come visit your IUP student and enjoy time together in Indiana. I can't recommend this place enough!!

A great place for a romantic date. The Valentine's Day menu was delightful and my filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The portions weren't huge but we ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert so we left full. The cocktails were original and delicious.

Bait and switch. We came after getting a mailing listing items on this weeks menu. Boy what a surprise at least 3 of the advertised appetizers were unable to be made due to the fryer being down. I can't believe a fancy place like this can't afford a second fryer. Then we said ok one of the appetizers we REALLY WANTED was still available so tried to order that. The flier claimed all appetizers were half price until 6 pm but upon ordering were told that the chef decided that he would not sell the appetizer we really wanted at the advertised price. He would charge the full price. This is upsetting as we came only for appetizers and planned on eating several now at least 4 of the 6 were unavailable as advertised. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! what's the point of advertising stuff in a mailing to draw ppl in just to refuse them what they want. Then on top of everything I ordered a coke while looking at a menu, got a glass that could not have held more then 6 ounces drank half and was charged $2.70 for it. Again UNACCEPTABLE!!! Wonders never cease!! Amazingly as soon as the advertised appetizer special expired THE FRYER STARTED WORKING!!! the lies and fraud at this restaurant really drag down any good that might come from the kitchen. Every advertised special on their menu was either unavailable or the price was changed!!! I have no problem paying the prices here but expect the offers that we get on Wednesday are still available on Friday!
