Excellent choice for lunch or dinner. I have traveled to both India and SriLanka and very much enjoy authentic Indian cuisine. This restaurant is consistently flavorful and well portioned. A bit pricier than the average fare on Philly street, however completely worth it, by my estimation.

I just moved from the city to about an hour outside of Indiana and was craving Indian, so based on the reviews for this place decided to try it out. I wish I had driven the extra hour to Pittsburgh. My first impression when I walked in wasn't good. There were only 3 tables and the only free one hadn't been bussed. I opened a menu which was very difficult to read (the entire thing was blurry) and I don't have any problems with my vision and reading. The front window was missing so the atmosphere was claustrophobic and kind of depressing. The menu was also disappointing. They obviously are trying to appeal to a demographic that doesn't experience much ethnic food. Key dishes were missing from the menu entirely (aloo gobi, malai kofta, etc.). We ordered a vegetable samosa, onion chutney (not on the menu, I had to ask if they had anything other than mango chutney), chicken curry, chicken mahkani (butter chicken) and chana masala. The samosa was a bit burnt and nothing compared to what I've had elsewhere (no yogurt, didn't come with chutney) but for the price it was okay. When I ordered the mahkani, my favorite Indian dish, the server did not know what I meant, and this was after asking us condescendingly if we had ever eaten Indian before since I had been asking questions about the menu I couldn't read. It wasn't spicy at all and was far too creamy. The chicken curry was bland, not spicy, and a total disappointment. The onion chutney was lazily prepared and not authentic. It was drenched in a sauce that I couldn't identify, and seemed like something that would be found mass produced in Chinese restaurants. That all said, the rice was beautiful and the chana masala was exactly on point. If I were to return to this restaraunt, it would be out of desperation for Indian and I would only consider the chana masala. It may be true that this is the best you'll find in the area, but it certainly is nowhere near the best Indian I've had. I've bought curry for $5 from a truck with more flavor, spice, and charm than what this place offers.

Amazing, we get their take out at least twice a month. The rice is so fragrant and delicious, we have tried a few things but our favorite is the chicken tikka masala! Like the other reviews, the inside leaves a little to be desired, but the food is fantastic. Definately one of our favorite places to eat as townies!

This place is small so take out is best. I have been eating Indian food for years and this is so far, the best I have had yet. Chicken Tikka Masala is so rich, I think they use cashew paste to thicken and its amazing! We also got naan. The amounts of actual chicken were great and the naan was a little thicker than some places... I am hooked on this place now! Price was average I guess.

The quality of the ingredients here are amazing. The meat is tender and fresh. Great Indian food, especially for the area. The owner is friendly and gives me the student discount immediately when checking out. Highly recommend the lamb tikka masala and the naan bread with mango chutney!

I have had Indian food all over the world and who would think the best place would be in Indiana pa? I am working through trying everything on the menu and everything so far has been delicious. The food is really fresh and flavorful, prices are good for the portion size and quality! Every time I go there it blows my mind how good it is, even friends who 'don't like' Indian food have loved the tikka masala. If your anywhere near Indiana pa it is definitely worth stopping by!

Love this place! Let's be real, Indiana sucks when it comes to food, but this place is a gem. Their butter chicken is my favorite, but a heads up it's kind of a bummer to eat in; very small and not that nice. But don't let that deter you! All that means is that u get an amazing meal delivered to you on your couch with your favorite glass of wine and a svu marathon :P

I tried India Grill for the first time tonight. We got it as take out, which I do suggest as the "ambiance" is definitely absent in the restaurant. The food however, was great! We had chicken tikka masala, it had a rich tomato flavor with fragrant spices. The chicken Chef's special was also delicious and richly flavored and spicy. We were served 2 fried dough balls in honey as part of the meal and they were soft, sweet and lovely. I am so excited to have good Indian food in town again!

I love this place! I'm from a big city with a wealth of Indian and other restaurants. I always want to go to this place when I'm in town. The lunch box special is an amazing deal! The food is so rich and tastes like home. If I lived here this would be a weekly (if not more) takeout of choice!

You should believe the hype, because this place is amazing! My girlfriend and I stopped by here on our way through Indiana, and we were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. I had the chana masala and my girlfriend had dal with potatoes. I've had a lot of Indian food, and I can say with resounding confidence that India Grill is top-notch. Some of the most delicious Indian food I've had in a long time. You_should_go_here.

I've been to 5 continents, and I've had lots of indian food. India Grill is good. I ate at Tandoor a few times when I happened to find India Grill. The food at India grill is better than Tandoor because the portions are bigger (ie more and larger pieces of meat) and they are more consistant on their 'heat' scale. India Grill has better food, Tandoor is a nicer dining room.

Excellent Indian food. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired, but it seems that most of their business is carry out so I won't hold this against them. I asked for butter chicken before looking at the menu and realizing it isn't on there but they made it for me anyway which was a really pleasant surprise. They are moderately priced, as any Indian restaurant. But definitely worth the money on occasion.

Great little place to get some very flavorful Indian food! We go here about once a week for lunch because we love the lunch box option. It comes with your choice of a meat-based dish, with dal and the vegetable of the day, rice and naan. You can also get a vegetable lunch box, which is usually what I order. My husband gets the lamb one and it is really yummy! The service is wonderful (we love chatting with the owner while we eat) and the food is prepared fresh and pretty fast. If you love rice pudding, theirs is pretty tasty! They also make mango lassi drinks too. I love that this little town offers somewhere to get delicious Indian food! I only hope is that business will grow fast so they can offer a buffet option! (So, go there and eat! What are you waiting for!? Go, now!)

The BEST Indian food I've ever had! A friend and I stopped off while passing through Indiana, PA. Although the decoration is pretty minimal, the place smells amazing--like spices. Although we were the only ones actually eating there, it felt very cozy/comfortable. It was informal yet nice. The owner was friendly too. Don't be intimidated from the outside! We ordered the Garlic Naan, Raita, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Korma. They were clearly making everything fresh/from scratch and it tasted amazing. I'm definitely coming back!

Good place for a takeout. Nothing beats the lunch box. It is a tiny place but food is banging. I m stuffed after eating the lunch box. Lot of food. And a dessert to finish off the lunch included! All of this for 8 or 9$.

Best Indian food in Indiana, without a doubt! I usually order as Take out, decor leaves a bit to be desired but the food makes up for it! Fresh ingredients, made from scratch and served steaming hot every time. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala, with the Chana Masala a close second. Any of the breads are delicious, but I particularly enjoy the Aloo Paratha (flaky flatbread with potatoes and spices between layers). The vegetable samosas are the best I've had anywhere. Unlike many Indian restaurants, no lunch buffet here...instead, they offer a Lunch Box (veg, chicken, tandoori, lamb or seafood), which is a nice variety of smaller portions of your main dish, dal, veg of the day, a full piece of naan, rice, and a small serving of dessert of the day. Nice variety and the amount is just right for lunch!

After living in Indiana for 3 years I'm upset it took me this long to eat here! Hands down the best resturant in Indiana! I ordered the chicken tikka masala and a side of cheese and tomato naan bread. Perfect meal at a great price. I got the smaller portion and it was enought for a lunch the next day. Keep in mind the resturant itself is very tiny, there are only 4 tables, but there is always takeout :) Such a good price for such amazing amazing food!

hands down the BEST indian i've ever had. ate here yesterday for the first time and my mind was blown. so excited to come to IUP in the fall and eat here everyday! i got chicken saag and it was beautifully seasoned. i've had lots of indian food, but nothing tops this place. took some leftovers home and ended up eating it in the car because i couldn't help myself!

Slightly disappointed with my meal last night. It has been a few years since I've had India grill. They catered my husbands graduation party a while back and I remember the food being perfectly cooked and seasoned. Now maybe things have changed because the lamb vindaloo was oppressively spicy when we clearly asked for less spicy. Also the tandoori chicken was very dry and flavorless. I'm going to think twice before ordering here again.

WOW!! This place is awesome, totally worth 5 stars. Food is authentic, flavorful and portions were enough to fill you up; I actually took some of mine home. They have take out and 4 tables for dining in. It is small but don't let that stop you from giving this place a try. Delicious !!!

Ahh to be back at IUP with decent Indian food. It is a nice tasty change from the American bar food.

Excellent choice for Indian in Indiana. By far the best option in town. While lacking in interior accouterments the food is excellent especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. Some of the finest we've had after enjoying Indian from all across the country and around the world. Well done.
