The coney is basically 2 very different business. The first is the restaurant that has some great food. At least when I was in college. Anything honey hot is good and the chicken finger hoagie is great. At night it becomes one of Indiana's best bars. I spent way too many nights and countless dollars in this place. The bar specials were the best in town and you can't beat the dub on a good night. If there is one thing I miss about college and good old Indiana, it is the Coney.

Definitely not the place to go if your in a hurry. The food is very good. I haven't been disappointed with anything I've gotten. Today I got their home made chips in honey hot. They were perfect sometimes they are more hot than honey. Add some ranch and you have a great app. Found they had fried pickle chips, so I spilt them with a fellow dinner in my group. Everyone loved both the above items. They were shares throughout the group. I usually get the Pittsburgh Salad; you can choose between large or small. And you have the option of steak or chicken (which you can get prepared any way you wish - Buffalo, Cajun, fried, etc). I tend to not drink a lot of alcohol there. Drinks are good but portions are small and expensive. Drink specials at night make drinking there a little better.

Went for lunch and had a great Ruben. Great bread, awesome Swiss, very sharp. If you are not a fan of Sharp Swiss better stay away from this awesome sandwich. It was so good I'm going to go back for more off their menu... stay tuned. In the meantime, go enjoy some food. Let me explain only three stars. I love food, preparing it, cooking it, shopping for it and eating out. If you look at my previous reviews you'll see I hardly ever give out five stars. Four stars = great service, great food. Five stars is reserved for, blew me away in those areas and experience.

Fish tasted like it was frozen for awhile and buffalo chicken sandwich was not a sandwich, but good presentation and cold beer

For Indiana, PA, this place deserves 7 stars. This is the only place in town that makes good food, it's a nice place to eat lunch, dinner, or to spend an evening. You can do some casual sitting aorund the bar or go for the club like night life out back. If you are visiting town you will probably not be very impressed with the food anywhere, but this place is reasonable.

Was in town for a festival at the college and the Coney was a fairly decent spot for a quick and inexpensive lunch. A chili dog, fries, and Yuengling cost me $7. Also unique that they have a smoking section... unique to me at least. It might be the norm for this part of the country but I haven't seen someone light up indoors at a restaurant or bar in ages.

By day, this is a family friendly grill with some exceptional food and some not-so-exceptional food. The good on the menu outweighs the bad so odds are in your favor your selection will be okay. Hint: Stick to traditional American grill foods. By night, this is a crazy college bar with a dance floor, up to three separate full-service bars, roaming servers with drink specials, pool tables on both floors, and occasional karaoke. It is one of the busiest bars in town when IUP is in session. Things to be aware of: 1. They charge a cover after 9pm. 2. You must be 21 to enter after 9pm. 3. They have dirty restrooms at all hours, even by bar standards.

Massive food and drinks menu. I ordered the bratwurst platter and it was DELICIOUS! I'll definitely be back soon.

I have posted a comment after trying the coney for lunch a couple times. I received a gift card for Christmas for her, so I had nothing to loose. I time a I ordered a burger and onion rings. The burger was ok, nothing out of the ordinary and the onion rings were burnt. The second time I ordered wings because everyone said they were great! Well I feel bad for these people because they were not the worst I have had, but decently not the best. It appears they were left in the fryer to long. It appears that they can't cook bar food, which is odd since they are a bar!

We were here about a month ago and it took 1.5 hours to get wings and homemade chips. It was a Friday night. We were irritated but thought we would come back tonight (a Thursday no college in session). We ordered the same thing...it took 1.25 hrs to get 2 appetizers. Seriously? You weren't even busy. Pretty sure this is the last chance we will give them. The gentleman who we assume to be the manager was just arrogant and rude. So disappointed.

Saturday evening 6:00pm and we waited over an hour for our food (burgers and other sandwiches.) They were not that busy.

Wow, a blast from the past! In writing Yelp reviews I find it difficult to not have a bias opinion with places I used to frequent when I really didn't know any better...before I knew what else is out there in the "real world" beyond the tri-county borders. I used to come here all the time during college and a few years later for Happy Hour to grab a few drinks and play some pool with friends. During a recent return to my old stompin' grounds I sadly realized The Coney has lost some of the charm and affection I had for it back in the day. Don't get me wrong, the prices are affordable and the food is decent, as are the drink selections, but there's no much else to get excited about other than its convenient location in the heart of downtown Indiana. Aside from the downstairs restaurant and back bar, I always preferred their newer upstairs bar and meeting area for large gatherings or functions, which is probably its best feature for getting older people (aka, non-college students) in the door. When it comes down to it, The Coney will always be a place for business people to work over lunch, for families to meet for dinner and for college kids to gather late to drink, dance and party. For a college town, that ain't too shabby. 3.5 Stars

Perfect wings - full size wings, so 10 of them is the same as 20 of the 'party wings' you get at other places. Lots of flavors to choose from - had dinner here both nights of our visit to Indiana, tried several different flavors - all good. the garlic parmesan were the favorite, the Liz's sauce flavor was both hot and sweet - yummy, and the cajun and house style were also very good. Prices were so reasonable we thought there was a mistake on our check... would definitely eat here again if in the area.

I really should try some of the other restaurants around here, but this place is sooo good. Comfort food with an Irish flair. They serve some of the Irish basics, but they have their own set of Irish/Americana food thats just killer! They are known for their wings, and have a really good selection of beers on tap and bottled. Service is very friendly for the most part, and a few "live wires" that make it extra fun. Oh, and if you haven't already -- Try the Irish Nachos. Comfort food at its finest (fried start with cheese sauce -- oh and toss in some protein =).

During the day, this is a decent place to stop for lunch. Burgers are okay, only better in town are at ironwood (but that's where ironwood hangs their hat). Had a really good tuna melt there a couple weeks ago. Bartender made a pretty good bloody mary. This is the only place on the strip to get a decent bloody mary. The wings are awesome and a great deal on thursdays. Irish temper sauce was a pretty wicked delight. At night during the school year, it's best to avoid unless you are completely trashed and in the mood for drunk college students. If you are trashed.. then get her done.

The food here is very good. Service is a little slow at times. Don't miss the half priced wings on Thursdays. They are some of the best wings I've ever had. They are full wings and are always cooked until crisp.

Every time I go here the wait is absurdly long. I'm pretty sure I've gotten some form of food poisoning twice from this establishment. Not recommended for their food, but it's not a bad place to grab a beer.

So perhaps today was not the best day to try The Coney in Indiana, PA (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), as it was " move in day" for the school year and the Coney was a bit crowded. That said, we were seated rather quickly with no wait. The service from our waitress was good, but the wait for our food was outrageous. My wife and I waited nearly 55 minutes for a cheeseburger and a Reuben sandwich. Ouch. As for the food, my bacon cheeseburger was actually pretty tasty. My wife's Reuben was " just ok" and her sweet potato fries were cold. This place seems to be pretty popular in this college town and it certainly seems to be a nice enough place. It very big, with what appears to be an entirely separate eating area for smokers, which is nice (for those who like to smoke, that is). I'd definitely go back and try it again, but this was the second time my wife has eaten here and both times now, she has had to wait a really long time for her food.

Always liked the food here but haven't been back since, halfway through a juicy burger, I watched a cockroach come marching at me right across the bar. All joints have bugs but you should never see them. Pass if you can and go across the street
