The place has been bought and is under new management and they've fixed the issues that i see previous complaints about. The inside and out has been cleaned up and the atmosphere is cozy and fun. They even added a train that runs through the whole diner. The menu has been changed a bit too and they now offer more dinner selections, better salads, and some Italian choices too, like the great stuffed shells I had the other day. It's got all the attraction of a cool old fashioned diner, like it did under the old owner, but now it's been spruced up, cleaned up, and has a fresh new attitude. If you haven't been there in a while, check it out again, you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

Okay food. Okay service. Okay atmosphere for the most part. Okay...get the picture. The best part of going here is to sit in an old fashioned diner and put coins in the jukebox on your table and browse thru the charmingly old songs that have not been updated!! That part is cool. Prices are reasonable. Food is very average!

This place is not the worst place I have ever been but it is close. The food is just a scary thought because if this is what they let the front look like what is happening behind that kitchen door. It is dirty and often smells like public restroom. The owner is not personable and down right rude at times, don't try and park in his lot if you are not eating there he will chase you down and make you move your car. It is to bad because the diner decor is classic...just needs to be cleaned up and under new ownership before I try this place again.

decent diner, food is ok, the interior is small n a bid crappy, go there when they have early bird specials 'n go at least 15 minutes b4 its over or they'll tell you its too late and you'll wind up paying 3 times the price.

I love diners but this place is an exception. Run down, crappy food and robotic service. The place smells like old socks and it's filthy. I'm at a loss to think of something positive to write because nothing spells "Stay Away" like the stench that comes from this diner. They need to open all the windows, open the doors and air this place out for a few years - then, and only then would I go back.

Diner dining at its best. Friendly wait staff and the breakfast was excellent. The train decor was a lot of fun, especially the train rolling on a track across the ceiling.

Do not understand the negativity about this place. The service was exceptional as we had no wait like some places. Nothing was ever a problem for the staff and the food was great. I will return

No longer Town House. This place has always been pricey. Nothing has changed. The guy who owns it now watches you while you eat. It's uncomfortable. Not exactly nice service either.

I remember this place a few years ago. After being in a piece of shit camp for a while we went out on the town and got some real food. This was our first choice. I think I got like a cheese omelette and some coffee. Both tasted amazing especially the coffee and was a nice change of pace. Makes me really appreciate diner foods. Our server was nice too. If I'm ever around Hoensdale I'll definately give this place another go.

I do not recommend eating in this establishment. If it were just the bad meal i had, i'd probably give them a second chance, but it was worse than that. The waitresses have contempt for customers. I walked in with a smile on my face and requested a table. I was met by a stone face hag who just motioned for me to sit where i liked. She wiped the smile off my face and set the tone. I sat down and ordered pancakes. They were horrible. I can make much better out of the box, anyday. Awful. As i choked them down, all i could hear my waitress talk about with her regular customers is how hard she works and complain. But what really annoyed me was an elderly couple entered and sat down without being seated. She condoscendingly remarked to them that they sat at a dirty table and that if they moved to another table she'd be right with them. They complied and the waitress began to complain to stoneface about how rude they were for not waiting to be seated. They were with in ear shot, heard this, and were noticable offended however stayed silent and waited for someone to take their order. The waitress deliberately made them wait for about 15 minutes, before they just got up and walked out. When she noticed that they had left, she resumed complaining about them and ridiculing them, saying "thats what they get" for not waiting to be seated. If thats not contempt for your customers, i dont know what is. The atmosphere in this place was as terrible as the food. Needless to say, i will not be returning. There are plenty of other places to eat in town.

First time at the diner . I was in town for business. I walked in and there was about 10 people seated. I walk in and was greeted by two waitresses with smiles and a good morning . I ordered a full stack of pancakes home fries and link sausages. Waitress brought my coffee right away. My order came about ,2 minutes later. Pancakes were a nice size cooked light and fluffy and golden brown . The sausage was crispy on the out side tender inside . My choice of cooking the sausage. The home fries were the disappointment of the meal . Potatoes was sliced ,rubbery , under cooked , to much oily taste . The decor does leave much to be desired. Its a old railroad car I guess about 60 years old . Yes maybe they can redecorate but owners are just making a profit . I liked the decor . I am a railroad worker . Would eat there again if ever back in town

Okay...I see a lot of bad reviews here that bring this place down to a pretty bad overall rating, so let me give you the complete rundown based on my one breakfast visit. I ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with the eggs over medium. She said I could have it on bread, a bagel, or a hard roll. I chose hard roll not knowing exactly what that would be, but it seemed the best choice since I've been trying to find as close to an authentic breakfast sandwich as possible to the ones I used to get at the Delis on Long Island. My kids ordered eggs and pancakes with sausage and bacon. The food arrives, and the sandwich is served on a kaiser roll....good start. The eggs in the sandwich are cooked great, a little bit runny just like on Long Island (but not as good). The sandwich tasted great and was a nice change from the other breakfast sandwiches in town (Camp Umpy's, Jennz) because they make the egg any way you want it and not from a pre-mixed egg mixture like some of the other places (which results in a scrambled egg patty type of thing). My kids' food was great too. The sausage and bacon were fantastic and the pancakes were light and fluffy. The service was very good too, she earned her tip and was friendly. Overall I can't say there is anything not to like about this place when it comes to breakfast. The hostess could have been a little more welcoming/friendly...(no greeting, no good morning, etc) but to be honest, as long as the food is good and the service is halfway decent, I don't care about a hostess greeting. --John

If you're looking for fine dining, look elsewhere. I love love love this place. Located in an old train (!! A TRAIN!!), this is old school Americana at it's best. I'm a huge fan of diners, and this is my favorite in town. If you're a townie, ok, maybe it's not the greatest to return to.. however: if you're visiting it probably fits the ticket! I used to think I was AWESOME when I'd come here with my dad and sit on the stools at the counter. The thrill hasn't disappeared for me ;) Order classic diner food: fries, grilled cheese, olive cream cheese sandwiches, breakfast food.. mm pies. Whatever you do, don't order fruit here! Invariably, it comes out of a can. BLECHBLARGGH! Bring coins for the old school songs on the Jukebox! When you go, check out the Smithsonian built/donated reproduction of the Stourbridge Lion nearby. ps: I recommend reading the filtered reviews here (click where it says so on the bottom). I kind of agree with the person who gave 5 stars and one review. Warning to Yelp newbies: keep your first couple of reviews moderate (2,3,4 *s) or they just won't show up. It's yelp's if-y attempt at filtering out people who own businesses giving false reviews. .
