OMG.....this place is awful!!! I've NEVER written a review before (probably should for the good restaurants that I've been to in the US and the world). I felt like I needed to warn people who are used to good food and live in somewhat of a cosmopolitan town. The food here was unbelievably over-salted. i had a steak that wouldn't have been too bad if it hadn't been crazy salty. BTW, i actually like salt....but this was ridiculous!! Also, broccoli came with the meal and that was terribly over-salted, too!!! To be polite, we took home the left-overs, but when we got home, we through them out.!! Also, my husband limits the fat he eats due to a heart condition. He asked the waitress to have his pasta sauce and dressing for his salad on-the-side. She said the "chef" (and I use that term very loosely) wouldn't do that!! Unbelievable in this day and age!! Also, not a big deal.....but, we were having drinks and had placed our order, but didn't get our rolls until the half-way through the appetizer course. BTW the rolls and salad were OK.

We recently held an event at the Onyx Room, one of the Hotel Wayne's satellite restaurants. We were assured by the owners that we would be very happy, and we found that we were more than thrilled with our experience. The food, service, and ambience were perfect for our party, The staff could not have been more accommodating. It was the perfect venue for our event!

On our way to Bethel, NY yesterday, we drove through Honesdale, PA looking for somewhere to have a nice meal. We asked some locals and Hotel Wayne was suggested. We were so happy that we listened to them as we had a wonderful meal. My daughter and I had Delmonico steaks that were done to perfection. My son had ribs that we all enjoyed and my husband, who is very picky, had a half roasted chicken that he described as the best chicken he has ever had. Their 1202 potatos were very tasty as well. Our service was terrific as we enjoyed a relaxing meal. I do not go to Honesdale often but will certainly go again to have dinner at Hotel Wayne.

Being that this is the only local hotel in the area set me on edge. I was pleasantly surprised with the room and the renovations that had been done What I didn't like was traveling 3 flights of stairs with no luggage assistance. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or a coffee maker in the room and it wasn't until I checked out that I found out there was complimentary coffee in the lobby I also feel I was taken on the rate as the website gave 2 rates one that said SEASON WEEKENDS. When I mentioned that to the woman at the desk she stated that it was season which the website stated started 5/31 and I was checking out on 5/20. I was assured that I would receive a call from the GM but as of one week later nothing. I have stayed in many 4 & 5 star properties and they really need to look at their rates even if they are the only game in town

We didn't order anything exciting... just a chicken sandwich (on ciabatta with mozzarella, pesto and tomato) with sweet potato wedges, and wings with a side salad. It was good and came out fast, and it was nice to eat on the porch. The prices are fairly high for some meals, but we ordered reasonably priced items.

Was a little skeptical because of the area but I and my wife were pleasantly surprised. The food and service were fantastic, along with an elegant atmosphere. We would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for good food traveling through Honesdale PA.

If you like Historic.....Hotel Wayne is it. Go for the French onion soup and stay to try some of the dozens and dozens of craft beers they have to offer.

Excellent food, service, beer selection, one of the best finds. I only wish I lived closer, oh and the historic building is beautiful.

Arrived in driving rain after many hours on the road to find that king suite reserved through booking.com was not available even though we had written confirmation. Room we were given was dimly lit, water stains on ceiling, too dingy to even see if everything was clean.Toilet and shower in tiny closet too small for a sink, which was located in bedroom instead. View to the street blocked by plastic paneling. Not enough table space for our belongings. Breakfast pastries not displayed as promised, but instead we had to ask for them at desk. We were given the last two, even though it was only 8 am. They were cheap and sugary, pre-packaged in plastic wrap. All repairs made to this ancient room were makeshift and shoddy, not at all in the style of a "historic" hotel. Owner and staff were nice enough, helpful and pleasant, but the accommodations need an influx of $$ to make them comfortable.

Hotel Wayne is the worst hotel experience we have had. The room was filthy. Stains on the floor, couch, pullout couch (which was also broken), hair in every bed and on the bathroom towels. As I turned down the bed I could see yellow drool stains through the hair covered pillow case on all 4 pillows. After requesting new bedding, the maid explained that is was possible that someone could have snuck in the room and slept in the bed. The old, dated rooms smelled of mold and mildew. The bathroom sink was either corroded or had toothpaste left on the faucet. After explaining the situation, they only gave us a 10% discount. A whole $17.45 off our room. The only perk of this dirty, outdated hotel was that it kept us out of the rain. If Honesdale had had another hotel we would have left immediately.

Went here for lunch on laundry day. I felt a bit under dressed. The waitress gave me some strange looks but oh well. After she realized I wasn't a homeless person looking for a handout the service was excellent. The french onion soup was very good. It reminded me of the way it was made in the first high end restaurant I worked at. It had a nice heavy broth. I ordered one of the lunch specials. Greek perogies. These were not so good. The texture was a bit off and they were tiny. They were not terrible but they were definitely not worth what I spent on them. I ordered a sundae for desert. Very messy, but then the best ones always are. A bit on the expensive side for average food (except the french onion, that was great and the reason this gets 4 stars instead of 3) and I would recommend not wearing whatever you had leftover in the bottom of your drawer on laundry day. This place would be great for a date.

I would also like to give a big fat zero. Horrible service. Horrible bartender. Management was very rude. They act like NYC atmosphere in Honesdale Pennsyltucky.. ha! I Would never recommend this place to anyone. Epic failure of a restaurant.

A great place to stop for a 1 or 2 night stay , rooms were cheap, clean & as an added bonus Haunted, you definitely get the creeps walking the halls at 3am. They also have a nice tavern on the ground floor with some good bar food & tap beer. Next door theres a dive ice cream parlor with a pool table and some video games, They serve food too but I think its cooked in old Pennzoil

Have been to every restaurant in the Honesdale area for over 20 years and this us the best by far! Never wanted to go on before but noticed the clean windows and curb appeal we decided to give it a try, so glad we did! Food was affordable and delicious. Rivals any bistro I have been to in NYC, Chicago to LA. We have been back 3 times this week!

I would rather give out a zero star but I am unable to. I am sure this place does well when you are a local but when a friend and I sat down at the bar, we never got acknowledged that we were there. The bartender and staff literally had a meeting of the mindless right in front of us and not one person said, we'll be right with you. After several minutes of being ignored we decided to leave. Will never come back and will encourage others never to step foot in this establishment.

BEST DINNER I'VE EVER HAD OUTSIDE NYC!! I went to Bistro 1202 inside the Wayne Hotel last night for my sister's birthday. To my immediate surprise, I discovered they have a large selection of microbrews and specialty beers along with many varieties on tap for more than HALF the price I pay back in Manhattan. The food is something out of Gourmet Magazine, truly! As an appetizer, I enjoyed the Bistro Chips which are ther fresh cut seasoned potato chips tossed with crumbled blue cheese, scallion and white truffle oil...for ONLY $6.95!! For my entree, I ordered the blue cheese crusted filet mignon with horseradish mashed potatoes, sauteed spinach and a port wine reduction. I seriously thought I was dining on Park Avenue. The steak was cooked medium rare and literally melted in my mouth. Spinach and potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I can't wait till I am back in town so I can head back to Bistro 1202 Kudos to the chef and his staff!

I stayed at the Hotel Wayne recently for a full week on a business trip. The hotel is much improved from what the reviews from two years ago seem to reflect. My understanding is that the bar and restaurant were significantly upgraded to provide a fine dining experience. I enjoyed a couple of great dinners in the restaurant. The bartender is very sharp, and the wine list is a good one. Prices are very fair. The filet was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The Hotel is an old building with lots of charm. That's not for every traveler, but as a business traveler it's a nice change of pace from chain hotels. The place was dead quiet at night, and I never heard noise from the bar area or anywhere else. When you add in the reasonable price, the Hotel Wayne stacks up as a tremendous travel value.

Great place to stop for lunch if you're on the area. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get there but they have good apps and the service and decor are great.

Great craft beer selection, but waitresses are no help when it comes to knowing which beers they sell or anything about them. Seems the more places they open the more quality of food goes south.

I gave a 3/5 because of bad service. Food is always great here and have a good beer selection but service needs improvement. Have been here a few times and more times then not my wife and I are seated and waited at least 10-15 min before any service at our table.. Not even water. It's disappointing because the food is very good. Hopefully they change some of their ways.

Decent craft beer selection for the area. Good appetizers. A little pricy and the service leaves much to be desired.

I didn't dine here - just needed a place to sleep that night. It's a really nifty historical building. It's a tad bit worn but neat and clean. The hotel has lots of charm and quirks. Sink was in the room. Toilet and shower in a "closet". A/C worked GREAT! (hot day and night). NOTE: brochure says free parking but that's not quite accurate - they use an adjoining parking lot that is the local hospital's employee parking lot. Bring change for the meters as you may end up parking on the street. Wifi is free but you have to get access codes from the front desk. Side Note: a few moments after going to bed I thought I felt someone patting the foot of the bed, like they wanted to sit there. Door was locked - no one else in the room. I scrunched my feet up and the "patting" stopped. No one (or nothing) sat down. I didn't notice any other "happenings" that night and I slept well. Just saying . .

We stayed at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast nearby and decided to eat here for the night. The food was your average American fare. We loved the general Tao's wings. We thought the food was good and the atmosphere was lively. We'd eat here again.

Spent one night (two couples) in the 2 room suite in July, 2013. Wow--this place is really, really tired. The king bed has a serious slope to the middle, the furnishings are mis-matched, electrical outlets don't work and they have extension cords plugged in so the lamps work. When we realized the tv remote wasn't operating the television, we called down to the desk and they were gone for the night! The doors to the second room and the bathroom don't close completely. The shower experience was one for the books! There was water spraying from everywhere except where it should have been. What was coming out of the shower head was scalding hot or freezing cold. We were told there would be coffee 'around 7am' and we were still looking for coffee at 8am (made several trips to the first floor and kept hoping....) We finally decided to 'check out' and go find some breakfast (and much needed coffee) and there still wasn't anyone at the front desk. We laid our key on the counter and left. We did have dinner the night before and the food was quite good. We sat on the porch and had very good service (although there was a man smoking a cigar which was blowing our way--we were later told it was the owner). We would go back to the Hotel Wayne and have dinner again. We definitely would not stay the night!

The employees here are obnoxious in every way. Its like these hick idiots don't comprehend that us city people visiting is what keeps jackasses like them in work. Tourism in the spring and summer pays for your schools and roads. I went here a few years ago and was disgusted with the place. I heard it changed over the past two years so I decided to check it out again this weekend while visiting calicoon. It is cleaner but u can't wash off the stink of small minded assholes

HORRIBLE, AVOID! Ended up needing to stay there for a wedding in the area ... big mistake. They slapped some new paint on the walls to help hide the smoke smells and mildew. The bathroom (aka hose off station) was stocked with prison quality "conditioning shampoo", a small bar of soap, and the TP that happened to be remaining. The towels, on top of being thin and well worn from repeated uses, had BLOOD STAINS on them to match the dried blood in the sink. I quickly complained. We should have left but there is limited lodging in the area. The $250 I paid for Friday and Saturday was 3x what it was worth. The electrical sockets in two different outlets blew out from a simple hairdryer. The most redeeming qualities were the fact that the television worked, it had AC, and the water pressure was good. They make a lot of money for the value they provide, from that and the proceeds from the bar (local drunks' favorite hangout it seems), they should consider investing in a meaningful change.

Can not believe the 180 this place took. They renovated the entire inside of the building, scrubbed it clean and got rid of the rough clientele that frequented the bar. The menu has something for everyone on it and the price is pretty amazing for what you are getting. The micro-brew selection of beers is very impressive and they have many beers on tap...including my favorite Hoegarden! Please give this place a chance and come check it out....if you are a local and know what this place used to be, you will be in for the shock of a life time!

We'd really like to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars, because we have gotten some 4 and 5 star meals there. The evening meals, esp. on the weekends are, for the most part, delicious and beautifully presented. What's keeping us from giving Bistro 1202 a full endorsement is the fair to poor quality of the food served at lunch. Because we've had so many great experiences at dinner, we've tended to overlook lunchtime missteps until we realized there was a reoccuring pattern of poorly prepared lunches. I like my burger medium rare (pink) while my husband likes his medium (slightly pinkish). We ordered the burgers that way at least three times and each time the burgers came exactly the same, greyish. Okay for hubby, not so much for me. Even when I sent mine back and said, "Let's make it rare" (which I wouldn't ordinarily recommend for food safety reasons), it still came back grey on the inside. Earlier this week , we both ordered Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. As always, the fries were stellar, but the bread (baguette style) was toasted to a bricklike hardness and the beef was like jerky. Again, we should have sent it back, but the waitress was already literally running to serve and bus the tables. We just didn't have the heart. That brings us to this point. We would highly recommend this restaurant for dinner, but feel the owner, manager, and head chef also need to take their afternoon customers seriously and hire someone in the kitchen who knows what he or she is doing with the lunch entrees. The dining area is lovely. We've had very good experiences with most of the waitstaff. If you're thinking about having supper at Bistro 1202, go for it! If you're part of the restaurant management, fire the current afternoon cook and find someone who'll respect your enticing lunch entrees as well as respecting your customers' palates.

The food is just delicious! Thank goodness someone bought this beautiful old place and cleaned it up. We eat here a few times a month and I've never had anything that I didn't love, you can't find dinner like this around here. The bar crowd tends to be free of drunk college kids, and is a great place to meet young and young-ish professionals as well as middle aged folk. The bartenders and waitresses are always pleasant, and their is a great patio/porch out front that they enclose in the winter to keep smokers from freezing. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because last week I hosted a dinner for 21 and after waiting a bit longer than usual for service, we finished pleasantly and had paid our bill and separately purchased drinks from the bar, so the wait staff didn't have to wait for it's tip. We were sitting and chatting at our table (it was a bit before 9, not the middle of the night) and our waitress came and told us we'd have to move to the bar b/c the busboys wanted to go home. I found it rude when I had just dropped several hundred dollars that she couldn't have dealt with that better, but I had also never seen her before, and hope that either she'll learn to be as pleasant as the other girls there, or move on to somewhere that that behavior is acceptable.
